Tecra 8100, black screen

Hi people,
My Tecra 8100 screen after 10 Minutes of work, dark. It s not the screensaver, absolutely! Cause I hear the sound of my games constantly.
Sometimes, if I reboot the display comes back, or if I push the FN + F5 keyboard combination, but not always.
Can someone tell me what wrong with my camera?

  • Tecra S1 - black screen even on external monitor

    Hello

I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this, but here goes: I have a tecra s1 who was working fine then one day. I turned it on all I get a black screen. I suspect that it's the hard drive but not 100%.

I tried to connect to an external monitor as the same just a black screen. My question is this laptop does not start if the hard drive is bad I think it would be at least got to the bios screen, but I get nothing but a black screen.

any help would be appreciated thanks.

    Hi cracypcguy,

For me, this looks like a hardware malfunction if on an external monitor, you can see a white screen also. In addition, I doubt it has something to do with the HARD drive. In this case you should see the screen of the BIOS at least.

Anyway, in your case, I'll ask a maintainer approved assistance. Technicians can check your laptop parts and the exchange of defective material.

    I hope I could help you! :)

  • Tecra M2 - black screen with blinking cursor

    Hi guys,.

Im hoping someone out there might be able to help me fix my laptop.
Ive read a few posts, but not sure they can help me.

When I swicth on my Tecra M2, I just end up with a black screen with blinking cursor top-left, or I get a screen filled with a mix of 0 and 1.
Sometimes the home TOSHIBA screen appears with the boot options, other times it doesn't.

I can't boot from a CD and it does not start on the HARD drive. Ive took the HARD drive on and the CDROM outside but it does the same thing that suggests to me that its does not get via the BIOS as far as the boot sequence.

This sounds like failure of the BIOS for you and you know a way to fix it? Ive tried to take the battery, turn off and start again, but the same thing happens.

    Any advice would be appreicated.

    Thank you

    Ross

    Hello

The cursor blinking in the upper left corner is known to me.
I got a same problem or question may be similar.
My laptop (from another manufacturer) didn t start but only the cursor appeared.

In my case, the HARD drive was dead, and the operating system could not be loaded.
In your case, the HARD drive may be dead, but usually the laptop must be able to boot from the CD/DVD drive so I m wondering why you are not able to boot from the disk
However, the first of all what you need to check if the HARD drive is listed and recognized by the BIOS.

Press ESC, then F1 to access the BIOS.
You can also set the BIOS to default settings too.

If the HARD drive is not recognized, you should replace the HARD disk.

  • Tecra M3: black screen on startup, the vertical lines on the external monitor

    Hi all

I searched a lot on the Internet for a solution to this specific problem, I have, but did not find a thread
with exactly the same problem. I have a Toshiba Tecra M3 with Windows XP SP 3. Two weeks ago, I encountered problems with the commissioning. After a couple of times to restart it would work. Then it became worse... When I try to run I see no splash... the screen remains black. If I press the power button, I hear the fan and CD player but no screen. It is totally black. I know its working because I can go (blindly) in the installation program. Press end, and then press Y and enter. The computer will restart but still no screen.

I plugged it to an external monitor. Pressing Fn and F5 allows switching. The external monitor shows different
vertical lines in multiple colors. They change if I go to settings or you try to start windows.

Does anyone have a solution to these problems?

I have fear of solution can be given by the service only.
In my view, this question must be tested properly.

I can't say for sure, but to me that sounds like a technical question. Without testing you will know for sure what is the problem.
Here on the forum we can only speculate why this happen.

As you can see on notebooka? s LCD problem. On external it doesnâ? t properly work as well. It may be a faulty graphics card.
Try to contact the nearest authorized Toshiba service and speak with the technician.

For now all I can do is press the button of the screen or open/close the cover of the LCD screen.

    Hello

Is it possible that you have activated a screensaver on your units? But it strange s happened several times in the minute

I recently got a Tecra 8100 for cheap on eBay.

The screen sometimes goes black its still on I need to press the shaft close to the screen and it beeps sound sounds and back on.

I removed the frame of the screen and it made the difference for a about a week but just happen again:(mais je croise les doigts pas très souvent.)

I read on google etc. it can be sumtin with led, etc. I just want to know how to replace the part?
What part I need to replace etc.?

I disable all power management things, and sometimes even of it is would no doubt something with the screen.

I need ideas how to resolve this because it's a good laptop for a student lol prity.
Thanks for reading and any rear power

    Hello

Sorry, but it's really not easy to say what needs to be replaced.
But it s certainly a hardware problem I put t know what should I PIN you meant exactly, but maybe a loose connection is causing this problem I mean a FL-inverter connection

Here's a useful page [how remove and replace card ups FL on Toshiba Tecra 8100 | http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Tecra-8100/remove-replace-fl-inverter-board.htm]

Maybe it could be useful for you

In any case, these hardware issues are always delicate, and in most cases, each unique piece, and the connection must be checked. It's not easy, and in most cases and the computer laptop technician should take a look on this laptop

  • Failure of Black Dots and device - Tecra 8100

Hey all, I was just given this Tecra 8100 and 2 of the many problems with it are that random black dots appear on the screen... and sometimes windows crashes due to a failure of the device (the monitor I guess). He got a new installation of XP Pro from about 20 minutes ago.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Hello

I have really no idea why this happen. One of my friends has installed Windows XP Home edition on his old Tecra 8100 and everything was ok except the modem and infrared. The only thing I can recommend is to install SP1 and check if the problem persists.

If this is not the case, try installing W2000 or W98SE to see if the same problem occurs with this two supported operating systems.

    Good bye

  • Tecra 8100: vertical stripes on the screen

I just bought a second hand Tecra 8100, who has been stripped of all its programs, OS. So I installed Windows98SE on this - now I get a screen with vertical stripes, which perch in the middle of the screen of the laptop with Windows just about visible in the background.

I went to the display driver Toshiba and downloaded Web pages relevant windows 98se. Once on my laptop, the exe file does nothing; is neither their "graphics card" option in my device manager - everyone has ideas as to what is happening?

    Hello

Please connect external monitor to your laptop and check if the result is the same. If so, there is probably a problem with the graphics card. If this isn't the case, I presume your laptop LCD screen is defective.

  • Tecra 8100: solid white vertical & screen turns off

    Hello

My Tecra 8100 has (or had) which seems to be a 'known fault': screen off, can be returned by pressing fn + f5 or the small metal button.
He also acquired a solid vertical white line about 1 mm wide and 30mm from the left edge. I managed to stop the problem of (backlight?) deletion of frame (thanks to those who responded to my previous, now locked, question!) by taking the cover off the screen and by disconnecting and reconnecting the ups. So now the screen always remains on. Unfortunately the white line is still there, and then that previously, the screen was normal except for the line, all right (i.e. all except 1 "of the screen) is now just multicolored stripes.

What do you think? I have been informed that the inverter is no power the backlight, which suggests that the problem of lines is something else. But they occurred at the same time. In addition, as far as I remember, when I was playing the connecting the inverter lines came and went (and then came and remained). Would it still a bad inverter connection? Or a broken inverter? Or more likely to be something else?

    see you soon,
    George

  • Tecra S2: Problem start & stand-by - black screen - no POST

    Description of the situation
Anytime battery & ac adapter, only battery or only the AC power is connected, sometimes the following happens:

-Portable-> boot (black) screen. No post no hd activity. No beeps or other strange noises as well.
-What laptop is 'wake-up' of stand-by, same thing happens: blank screen, no other reaction

Things that must be done to solve the problem:
    -remove the battery
    -remove power supply
-Sometimes these actions must be performed repeatedly to get laptop working again

There is no other question of stability, as the BSOD (blue screen), hang-ups or software problems (viruses, spyware, malware,...). When the laptop is running, no other problems occur.

Typical when situations of the problems occurs
-Laptop is closed down during an evening, power adapter (and battery) constantly connected. The next day, system does not at all. Battery and power supply must be removed to leave work again.
-Laptop computer sits on standb - by (on the desktop for example). AC adapter / CC is connected as well. A few minutes to hours later, when I try to wake up the system, it hangs on the white screen as well.
-Sometimes the touchpad does not work. When I reboot laptop when this happens, it is almost certain laptop hangs on the same black screen at 100% (as mentioned in the first point above, except that it is a restart and not start cold).

    Thanks for help
    Tom

If you have already tried everything, it won't hurt if you try this I guess...

(I guess that Tecra S2 has an internal battery silver round lithium is some thing CR?) try to set it could be a bad battery?

    Let us know.

  • Tecra 8100 - does not start and no activity on the screen

    Hello

My Tecra 8100 not start or take me to the BIOS Setup. It lights up, swirls the hard drive, but there is no activity on the display. The only way I can get something on the screen is turning with the F12 key when I get the 'ready for the update of the BIOS. Place the BIOS update diskette in the drive "... message. So I tried the traditional method of updating the BIOS, found on the Toshiba site, but nothing helped. The machine seems to read the disk (that contains the downloaded BIOS) but does nothing. It is just there for centuries, with the disk light.

The last two days I have trawled thro much views and even took the whole machine goes to check the connections loose, but I found no answer yet.

Can someone out there please help?

    Thank you very much

    Hello Rory

I did the BIOS to be updated several times, but I've never seen this message at startup upward. You did it the traditional method as described in the document which you will find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/faq.jsp?z=234&service=EU&from=faq_selection&CFID=B IOS & FID = TRO0000000b07?

  • Tecra A8 does not start - I get a black screen

At the start of my TECRA A8 I get a black screen (invalid file Booting from c:\Windows Boot.INI).
    Why is this happening?

BIOS update did not resolve it.

    Hello!

I think that an update of the BIOS peut t solve this problem, because there is something wrong with the installation of Windows and the BIOS has nothing to do with it. If don t mix these different things.

In your case, I would like to use the Toshiba Recovery disk to reinstall Windows. This should solve the problem because the disc contains factory settings. After that, you should be able to start Windows again.

    Good bye

  • Max Mem internal for Tecra 8100?

But when I install my laptop modules does not (screen remains black).

    Hi rplenter,

It's just what you say. The Tecra 8100 can handle memory of 512 MB. What modules do you use?

I have 2 256 MB of Toshiba (PA3051U-1NME) running Modules
