Tecra 9100 - help to choose RAM

It comes to earlier put that on for some reason any got locked and marked "assumed answered", when in fact it wasn't.

Eldorado reported me to the answer of Markus77. Thank you, but Markus77 or Eldorado say they tried the modules that listed there and actually pushed them to work in a Tecra 9100. The link in the response of Markus77 only points to one of the many similar provider sites I've seen, who say that the 2x512MB modules are supported. The point is, Lewislite had tried about 5 different brands/replacements and none of them were all-purpose, that they either slow his system or it could not start at all.

I asked, because I want to upgrade my current 512 MB too, if someone had actually he managed successfully on a Tecra 9100, or if it is one of those rare instances of a model with a motherboard that is insufficient to hold over the limit prescribed by the manufacturer, which for the 9100 by Toshiba 512 MB of cache. Maybe because most of the laptops will accept 2x512MB, suppliers assume just the 9100 will do too and so offer them to anyone willing to buy them. But has anyone actually done and got to work?

The fact that Toshiba are 512 MB modules is not in itself a response, because they could be directed to other models. The fact remains that Toshiba say the maximum the 9100 is 512 MB, and Lewislite tried 5 different modules to try to go beyond that and found that none of them would be.

Then, everybody in fact successful to do a better job Tecra 9100 with more than 512 MB or have memory suppliers are mistaken for this model?

Had a look at the detailed Tecra 9100 here: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Download

It shows that Kingston 512 MB KTT3614/512 RAM is compatible. I am assuming that you can run Modules 2 x 512 MB.

Make sure you use PC2100 DDR memory. PC2700 should work, but there may be a compatibility issue.

    Hello

I'm working on (very) slowly upgrading to an old HP desktop to a gaming PC, I have almost everything except the CPU, motherboard and Ram scrapped.

I have it transplanted into the NZXT S340, and it has been working fine since.

When playing games, specifically Arma 3 there have been few crashes related to memory, and I believe the horribly slow 4 GB of installed RAM is a failure and even if it isn't, which I doubt, it retains all the other components, it is constantly in maxed out and what I do I am in desperate need of an upgrade.

So I was looking around for memory that would be compatible with the MS-7613 (Iona-GL8E), I struggled to find a lot of information but this page: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02014355 , who said the specs of ram max I could hae is 1333 mhz/16gbs in 4x4g sticks. I went out hunting and found this: http://cplonline.com.au/corsair-8gb-2x4g-cmv8gx3m2a1333c9-ddr3-1333mhz-memory.html that looks as if it would fit perfectly, and I would be able to keep when I update the strong mother/memory card because it is 1333 mhz and most motherboards support, however I have some concerns:

-As the motherboard is old, the rest of the information is not the best, and I'm worried, it won't be compatible.

-Use Speccy Piriforms, it says that I have currently 866 mhz (I think, I just reformat and have not installed) Ram installed, however, the document shows the speed minimum is 1066, what worries me.

Is there any ram that is specifically designed to work with this motherboard, or who is confirmed to work in Australia? If possible I would like to work with motherboards more recent when I update the current material.

Unfortunately I can't get a product name, I lost when I transplanted it and I can't find the software that tells you... Regret that, although I don't know that I am currently running an i7 870 2.93 ghz, 4gbs of ram Samsung and the above motherboard.

    Thanks for any help!

Never mind.  I found a bit of HP pavilion PC desktop that comes with the same motherboard.

It seems that the upgrade, it will be quite inexpensive. You can improve it to 16 GB for about $85.00 USD. That will make your pretty sweet game.

    Since you are in Australia

You place your order of Crucial RAM of Australia

In Australia, it's a little more expensive for OEM HP memory modules.

    Hi Robert,.

You will need to contact your Service partner allowed the closest to get a breakdown of the cost to repair your laptop.

It is very likely that you can claim the cost of repair against your house insurance content (I did when my A30 fell on the ground and broke the optical drive).

  • Tecra 9100 - installed like 512 MB RAM, but it slowed down my computer!

After much fumbling around trying to install my new 512 MB of RAM, I turned on my computer to find that it starts much more slowly. A message popped up saying 'Memory Module added' and my computer shows 768 MB is installed which is correct, because I already have 256 MB installed in Slot 1.

So why on Earth is my computer even slower! I bought it to speed up the thing! My computer is slow to start, is less sensitive and much better with just the 256 MB of RAM installed.

I think I might have damaged the RAM or the Slot 2 because at first, I inserted it incorrectly. They should have a video demo on how to install it because the manual didn't help me that much!

The RAM is crucial and supports my cell phone because I ran tests to determine what RAM I need.

    Can someone help me please!

    Hello

Well, it is possible that the new RAM is malfunctioning.

But have you checked the speed of RAM? How much MhZ is the module supports?

    The Tecra 9100 supports PC2100 512 MB (PA3164U - 1 M 51) module and it runs at 266 MHz.
If the new module supports a lower speed that the old second module will work also with lower speed.

Moreover, I would not recommend using modules without name. The performance is bad. Kingston modules are much better.

  • Tecra 9100 - where to get extra RAM?

OK, so I found Crucial.co.uk a very useful site to determine what RAM your system can work with. Please can someone clarify for me than if I buy a 256 MB of RAM from them that I will also be able to use 256 MB of RAM already installed. It will be 512 MB of RAM - perfect for me.

And another thing, where can I find slot1 and slot2 and RAM is easy to install?

Thank you, and here is the Web page: http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=E927B290A5CA7304

    Hello

The Tecra 9100 can be improved up to 1024 MB.
Two memory slots are available at the bottom of the unit and therefore, you can use the two modules, i.e. 2 x 256 MB or 2 x 512 MB.

As said that banks of memory are placed at the bottom of the unit. I think that it s in the middle and the coverage is only fixed with a screw.
Simply remove this screw and you will be able to open the lid and should see two slots

A hint; You can find useful information in the user manual. This can be downloaded from the page of Tosh

  • Tecra 9100 comes on intermittently and turns off after 10-15 seconds

Referring to a Toshiba Tecra 9100, model No.: PT910E-602SF-FR

The power button normally doesn't light up at all, even if sometimes it starts normally, starts to load windows, then always turns off after 5 to 15 seconds in any case.

It always requires the batteries very well, but it won t turn on. I ve checked the ram, hard drive and I re - set the default bios - nothing prevents to cut if you can get it to turn on.

Any ideas what could be the problem? Any help appreciated, it s the second time I had - the same problem the last time!

    Thank you

    Hey,.

Have you already tried to clean the fan? Maybe a lot of dust blocking the fan for laptop can start t, and then turns off itself due to a higher temperature. It would be interesting to try to clean it.

But in my opinion, you've done everything you can do, and it looks like a malfunction of the motherboard. If cleaning using fan doesn t I think the motherboard is faulty or something else. If you are familiar with the disassembly of the laptop, you can try to fix it yourself with second hand parts. Otherwise it s time for a new laptop I think

  • Tecra 9100 - required accupoint driver for XP

    Hello

I need a MS XP driver for the accupoint of my new (used) Tecra 9100. Or at least I think, because the accupoint does not work and there is no configuration on the menus of the mouse tab.

On the driver download page http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU I don't know which is the "driver type", I have to choose.
    Can someone help me?

    Thank you

    JS

There is no available accupoint driver for Tecra 9100 and Windows XP.

I searched on the Web from Toshiba site too and I looked in the installation instructions, but there is no driver available.

    Sorry, but it's done.

  • Tecra 9100 does not start in windows-black display

    Hi, just found this forum.
I have problems with my old laptop Tecra 9100 that ive had since.
I stopped last night, started this morning and now is no longer boots.
It gets past the Toshiba screen and windows xp scroll bar screen seems in good condition.

But then the screen turns black and does not go to the XP login screen.
But windows does not work because if I press on enter newspapers in my profile (I hear the theme music for connection etc, and the HARD drive light is on, connect to windows...) It's just that I have no display at all?

I also tried an external monitor, always the same, Windows XP, scroll screen still appears, but nothing else appears on the display.

Any ideas? Hardware failure? (But the toshiba screen and 1 XP appears)? , Because the OS (even thought I can connect, although "blind")?

    Thank you

It's strange... I put t think that there is a hardware problem because you can see the Toshiba start screen and like you say the Windows starts.

My first thought was that your display is set to external monitor
Looks like you have tested and nothing appears on the second screen?  :|
    Which is really strange.

In any case after the laptop started try to use the key combination FN + F5 to switch to another screen, maybe it helps.

You can also try booting in safe mode. Press the F8 key at the beginning.
    Then choose Safe mode.

  • Tecra 9100 - startup of HARD disc is not possible

    Hello

I have a tecra 9100 that is not booting at the moment. When I turn it on I get the Tosh start screen and I can choose a boot device if I want to. All that I choose (HARD/CD disc) all I get is the flashing at the top left cursor.

I got out the HARD drive and tried to start a CD/DVD but that doesn't work either. Also I can't get into the BIOS, I tried to do an upgrade via a bootable CD, but that no longer works.

    Cheers for any help

    Hello

Have you tried to use ESC then F1 to access the BIOS?
Check in the BIOS boot sequence.

    Good bye

  • Tecra 9100 find address mobile phone but don't then pair with it

I had problems with my laptop built in bluetooth. All I want to do is simply send files from my laptop to my phone via bluetooth. However, this has become a very frustrating task. Battery bluetooth (V1.2) software that originally came with my Tecra 9100 laptop was completely useless - there not even "light" even know I clearly choose the Activate button.

I messed around with the options and nothing worked so never wholesale, so I downloaded 5.4 or anything on the Toshiba site and uninstalled v1.2 (should I have?). Finally, when I searched for devices, an address has shown (address of my mobile I think) so I chose
address and push next. 'Connection... '. ""Unable to connect to service"(or something like that). Why can it not pair with my phone? That is the question.

PS when I search my phone devices, my computer name appears but when I select it it says that it cannot match. Help! Oh and I just uninstalled Bluetooth Stack everything it is called because it's useless! :(

If you want to send files to your mobile phone. Some phones don't support FTP. This means that you cannot send multiple files at the same time. You must use the Object Push function in this case, because this function (profile) is supported by most of BT Mobile phones.

You can try the following. --> Mouse-right click on the Bluetooth icon in systray-> Bluetooth information interchange-> Bluetooth-> Device Discovery-> Object Push drag and drop a file that will be sent to your listed phone icon. Check your mobile phone which will ask you a dispatch confirmation.

    WOW!
You are still using the good old classic? Surely she s or it was a nice laptop but maybe it's time for something faster? ;)

    Back to your question;
On the European driver Toshiba page, you can find drivers Tecra 9100.
You should look in the Archive (in product type click Archive instead of the laptop)

There are two audio drivers for Win XP.
She s Yamaha audio driver version

    Hello

All you can find is stuff on the Toshiba support page. I don't know where you live, but try to contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer.
They have access to the database of Toshiba and they can get it for you. Call and ask for help. I'm sure they will help you fix this BIOS.

    Hello:

I have an old Tecra 9100 and I need to access the configuration, I wrote to Toshiba Spain provide data on my computer and from there I was forwarded to a different email client and atencionn the truth is that, after nearly two months now, however, no one has contacted me!

On the page to access this forum is reported that if the user is logged on the Club, among other things, will receive the password if necessary.

I am really very disappointed with the service that it provides to its customers and Toshiba but I am about to buy a new one, I have serious doubts have emerged whether he should opt for a Toshiba.

If anyone can help me write in Spanish, my post is [email protected] address

    Hello Siegen

I am very interested to understand your problem and try to help but I really didn t understand your problem. Of course, my English isn't the best, but I hope you can clearly explain what you want to know about this old notebook.

BIOS password has this oldie and now, you don't have access to it now?
Is your laptop or you bought one?
Here you can ask what you want and I'm sure that you can chat with other owners of Toshiba laptops on your problems.

I have two of them and I am very satisfied. Support and customer service are on the high level. So I'm really interested about your problem and the reasons why you think that the service is not good for you.
I mean, for each question, there must be a logical explanation.

I am quite often here and you want to discuss with other people. If the last comment on the propaganda is somewhat strange to me.

  • Tecra 9100 - error IDE with new drive

    I want to use a burner DVD UJ - 820B on my Tecra 9100, BIOS-Version 1.6.
If I change the UJ-820, I have IDE #1 error in the Bootscreen, and the device is not recognized.

No tool or the update for this problem?

A #1 IDE error normally if a wrong settings or connection together.
So I think that the disc is not compatible with the laptop.

Look in your user manual and choose a drive that is listed in the manual. Not every drive is compatible with any laptop.

  • Re: Cannot update BIOS of 1.5 to 1.6 on Tecra 9100 T

I have problems with the update the BIOS of my Tecra 9100. The current version is 1.5, and I want to update 1.6, so that the DVD-RAM UJ-820 does work.

I tried to do with the windows tool in the Zip file (error message: user lacks administrative privileges) and with the startup disk (error message: unknown chipset).

    What can I do next?

    Hello

You are right. On the support page Toshiba 1.60 update is available for the old Tecra 9100. As I see that one option is available WIN. This means that you must do under Windows running. If the option with the startup disk can be done at all.

Start your Windows, download update (910078v160.exe) and extract it to the desktop. Close all running applications and run the exe file. That s it!
