Tecra 9100 Wireless upgrade path

I don't see an option to upgrade the built in the Wireless 'g', but no one knows if this is possible? If this isn't the case, I suppose that a 'g' pcmcia card will work, but I have to turn off the built-in radio. Someone at - it confirms it please? Thanks in advance - Roger

Hello

As I know there is no way to upgrade the wireless card. You can just built a g standard or, as you said, some use another solution as wifi PCMCIA card.

In my opinion, avoid any problem. The map that you don t use more, you can disable it in Device Manager.

  • Tecra 9100 wireless network problem

I'll have a chance by putting my Tecra 9100 with my home wireless network. The network seems to work very well. My other laptop connects to it without any problems and I can connect the Tecra with the ethernet cable. But the wireless connection, it cannot be successfully established by the Tecra.

She claims to be connected, but he receives no package, and could get no internet connectivity. When I try to 'fix' the connection, it sits there for a while before telling me that the IP address may not be renewed.

I managed to connect the Tecra to the network of the next door without penalty, which suggests that there is some kind of problem with our network interface. I tried to reproduce the exact settings from my other laptop, so I don't understand what the problem is.

Any idea would be appreciated with gratitude!

    Hello

It's really not easy to say what is happening here. The functionality of the laptop is ok and it's very confusing if it works with other local wireless networks.

I recommend putting your access point to the factory without some specific parameters settings and try to connect it.

Sorry, but I don? have another idea.

Did you check if the laptop supports Wlan and BT maps?

To my knowledge, the two cards (WLan & BT) are optional on this Tecra 9100!
I think that you should first check this! Have a look in Device Manager

  • Hi speed USB via a Port Replicator advanced for a Tecra 9100?

I have the same problem with a Tecra 9100 and upgrade to hi speed USB as a previous post where the proposed solution was to use a PCMCIA card.

    (see link: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=24103)

I had an idea, but I don't know if it will work and need some advice?

Can you buy an Advanced Port Replicator that has Hi Speed USB 2.0 ports on it (like the PA3082U APR II that works with the Tecra 9100) instead of the PCMCIA card.

If the docks of Port Replicator in the motherboard will it give you Hi Speed USB 2.0, or is the Tecra 9100 forced to USB 1.1 via hardware in the laptop itself and the Replicator will not help?

Also if I go down the road of Port Replicator I need drivers for speed ports Hi of the Replicator to work on the Tecra 9100?

Or to ask the question – what is the PCMIA USB 2.0 card in that advanced with HI Port Replicator speeed USB is not?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

the Tecra 9100 has NO usb 2.0 and it's a fact. Given that the Replicator has these USB ports 2.0 does not mean that your machine when it is docked to the Portrep, is able to manage USB 2.0 devices. The portrep, it's like a usb hub and behaves like. So if your machine doesn´t have it then that's it.

And the explanation on the PCMCIA/Cardbus solution:
The pcmcia card USB 2.0 Chipset, this is the reason why it IS a USB 2.0 device (roothub).

I hope this was clear to you :)

Just buy this card and you will have USB 2.0

    Welcome them

  • Tecra 9100 - W-LAN-Mini-PCI-card upgrade

    Hello everyone,

    I ve got a with the W-LAN-onboard Tecra 9100 working doesn´t.
    Instead of repairing the old W - Lan Mini-PCI-card I want to move to a new standard (802. 11 b / g with 108 Mbit/s max) Mini-PCI card.

I prefer the mini Notebook-WLAN-Gigabyte GN-WIAG02 PCI adapter.

Is it possible to chance the card built into the Gigabyte card?

    Hello

It s nice that you want to upgrade your wireless mini-pci network card. But I suggest you rather a card with an Atheros chipset. The best choice is perhaps a card with a Chipset of Atheros 5005GS since I upgraded my Tecra 9100 with this card and it works like charm. (and not so expensive as other s cards)

To swap the card, you must remove the plastic cover of the keyboard and unscrew the two screws in order to release the keyboard.
After removing the keyboard, you will find an aluminum side cover left which is set with a special torx screws. The best would be to get these torx screwdriver to loosen this bolt and remove the cover.
After removal, you will see the map with the cables that lead to the antenna. (One white and one black) Be very CAREFUL when remove the Connector cables, because if damage you one of the cable connectors there is no return since the cables are cables "Mini-coax" and cannot be "connected."

I warn you, just do it if you're really sure and if you know what you're doing, because I won't take any responsibility if damage you something on your machine. Otherwise, I wish good luck and would appreciate some comments on your success.

    See you soon

  • Tecra 9100 - no wireless connection

    Can anyone help please?

The wireless in the toolbar icon has a red x and will not let me connect even though I see my router.
Can someone tell me how to solve this problem? I have Tecra 9100 with Windows XP SP3.
    Thank you

    Hello

The icon in the toolbar with a red cross?

Well buddy, have you checked if the WLan card is properly recognized in Device Manager?
Usually a first step to clarify if the wireless card is ok or if something breaks down.
In the device-> network card Manager, you should see the wireless network card.
If there is a yellow exclamation point, then try to update the WLan driver.

If the driver has been installed correctly and there is no yellow exclamation mark then the next step would be checking the settings of network connections.

Check if the wireless network connection is enabled (Start button-> settings-> network connection)

    Check it out!

  • Tecra 9100 cann't find the internal wireless card

I have Tecra 9100. Recently he started to act strange. Sometimes (rarely), it cannot find its internal wireless card or / and hang (freeze). When I check the device manager card is simply not there. After the reboot, the map pops up sometimes, but not for long.
I checked the event viewer, but the only Error Message is:
    Source: Service Control Manager
    Event ID: 7000
Description: The OrangeWire USB enhanced host controller service could not start because of the following error: the specified driver is invalid.

2 USB ports are working perfect. What is the link between that message and the internal wireless card?
Any ideas how to fix? I'm with Windows XP SP2.
    Thank you.

I put t think the WiFi problem could be related to the USB enhanced host controller service. I don t see a consistency

You can try several steps; first try to install the latest driver WLan.
Access card WLan (device-> Properties Manager) properties, and then clear the option to save energy.
Additionally, you will find different option in the Advanced tab.
I can t Advisor was 100% what options need to be changed because each wireless network card supports different function.

Whatever the case the advice above will not help not I think there could be something wrong with the OS files or registry keys.
In this case, it would be very interesting to know if the installation of clean operating system might help.

  • Wireless LAN on Tecra 9100 evil: card not recognized or system crashes

I have a little problem with my tecra 9100. When I want to use my wireless network, it works sometimes and sometimes the pc does not even see the map. but when it works for awhile, then the complete system crashes! and I have to reset the tecra. now I use an external wireless (3com) and features a large, but what can be the problem?

    Hello

Without accurate control for laptop, we can just speculate what may be the problem. If sometimes the WLAN card is not visible to the system, I guess there is a contact problem and system has no contact to the card and card cannot be detected at all.

When it blocks for laptop may be due to loss of contact on the map. In my view the contact on the motherboard must be verified by the service. If you don't want to just use the external solution and take advantage of the WLAN functionality.

  • Tecra 9100 and compatibility with 32-bit/3, 3V PC Cards (PCMCIA)?

I would like to increase the power of my WIFI.

The internal card supports 802.11 a standard only.

The Tecra 9100 Series is compatible with 32-bit/3, 3V-PCMCIA cards?

    Hello

According to the specifications of the computer laptop Tecra 9100 is ready WLAN and can be upgraded with standard Wi - Fi 802. 11B. I have the same WLAN card on my Tecra M1 and I'm really happy. You can buy the Wireless (PA3189U-1MPC) recommended LAN card and like to be mobile. The transfer of data is OK and you don't need a better card for this good old classic.

It is an old map and it won't be cheap. Check it out.

I found information that the wireless card is an option on this unit.

  • WLAN on Tecra 9100 - LED should go orange if the s/w keyboard shortcut NOT installed?

I bought a Tecra 9100 that had been restored to XP SP1 and without good Toshiba utilities that most drivers seemed to be OK - for example screen OK but USB has been 1.1 until I added the Intel Chipset drivers.

I can't get the WLAN card to work by sliding the switch (close microphone) - also, it does NOT appear in Device Manager. I spotted a post below (which was locked) where Pedro said WiFi hotkey software must be installed to make it work. Two questions:

1 if the s/w keyboard shortcut IS NOT installed should always be able to mount the light Orange / appear in Device Manager
    2. is there an alternate download site because I tried 20 times in the last 15 hours at: http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/cmod-en-20070925121500.zip (for the common modules) and the site just seems to be 'dead' - nothing is received at all

Thank you very much in advance - I want to become a happy member of Tosh' club... Cheers, Brian R.

PS; The Tecra has a WiFi tag on the bottom and even a MAC address and I have not yet looked for nothing changed so much material.

    Pedro post follows:
    + Hello +.

+ Is the map original WLAN or you have upgraded on your own? What is with Device Manager, this is the card of wireless network which are listed there? +

+ For the use of WLAN, there are few requirements: +.
+ WLAN switch must not be broken or defective.
+ Wireless network card must be compatible one.
+ The WLAN antenna must be connected correctly.
+ Wireless network card must be installed properly (the right driver must be installed) +.
+ Wireless network card must be enabled in the Device Manager.
+ Wireless network card must be activated using the FN + F8 key combination (Wireless Hotkey V2.0.0.1 must be preinstalled) +.

    (1) first you should check if there is a yellow exclamation (unknown device) in device under network adapter Manager.
If you find any unknown devices in the network adapter section then your laptop was not equipped with WLan minPCI card!
The shortcut key has nothing to do with the WLan card status in Device Manager! The keyboard shortcut software only controls the function FN + F8.

    (2) don t know what you mean! The functions of link!

All you can find is stuff on the Toshiba support page. I don't know where you live, but try to contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer.
They have access to the database of Toshiba and they can get it for you. Call and ask for help. I'm sure they will help you fix this BIOS.

  • Tecra 9100 - help to choose RAM

It comes to earlier put that on for some reason any got locked and marked "assumed answered", when in fact it wasn't.

Eldorado reported me to the answer of Markus77. Thank you, but Markus77 or Eldorado say they tried the modules that listed there and actually pushed them to work in a Tecra 9100. The link in the response of Markus77 only points to one of the many similar provider sites I've seen, who say that the 2x512MB modules are supported. The point is, Lewislite had tried about 5 different brands/replacements and none of them were all-purpose, that they either slow his system or it could not start at all.

I asked, because I want to upgrade my current 512 MB too, if someone had actually he managed successfully on a Tecra 9100, or if it is one of those rare instances of a model with a motherboard that is insufficient to hold over the limit prescribed by the manufacturer, which for the 9100 by Toshiba 512 MB of cache. Maybe because most of the laptops will accept 2x512MB, suppliers assume just the 9100 will do too and so offer them to anyone willing to buy them. But has anyone actually done and got to work?

The fact that Toshiba are 512 MB modules is not in itself a response, because they could be directed to other models. The fact remains that Toshiba say the maximum the 9100 is 512 MB, and Lewislite tried 5 different modules to try to go beyond that and found that none of them would be.

Then, everybody in fact successful to do a better job Tecra 9100 with more than 512 MB or have memory suppliers are mistaken for this model?

Had a look at the detailed Tecra 9100 here: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Download

It shows that Kingston 512 MB KTT3614/512 RAM is compatible. I am assuming that you can run Modules 2 x 512 MB.

Make sure you use PC2100 DDR memory. PC2700 should work, but there may be a compatibility issue.

  • Tecra 9100 - Ethernet is declining

    Hello

I have Toshiba Tecra 9100 that I used to connect my ps3 to wireless internet. For some reason my Tecra is down the Ethernet of the ps3, the strange thing is if I turn the laptop off the battery only there is no problem but as soon as I plug I save it starts to give up the connection again.

Any body know what is the problem?

    Hello

To be honest, I don't have a specific answer to your question, but maybe you should try to install the latest drivers LAN and WLAN. Also check the properties of the device and make sure that all power saving settings are defined to the maximum level.

In Toshiba surveillance tool when the laptop is connected to the power supply running set everything up.
    Intel Speedstep option implemented.

    I hope this will help.

  • Tecra 9100: Unable to connect external monitor to the APR III Plus via DVI

    Hello
I have a laptop Tecra 9100 that I try to use with an Advanced Port Replicator III (APR3 +) to connect to an LCD flat screen widescreen Dell via the DVI connector, but so far without success.

All other connections on the APR3 + operate without problem, the monitor stir however not until Windows finishes loading, how it shows a totally white screen with black bars very close down vertically.
I upgraded to the latest version of the BIOS and tested all the cables, but in vain. I also carefully searched from Toshiba Web site, but the only document which deals with taken ports supported on the APR3 + I can find does not list my laptop model at all.

Please can you tell me if this mode of operation is supported and if it is how to enable it?
Alternatively, if it is not supported, could I use a VGA - DVI cable to connect the APR3 + LCD flat screen?

    Concerning
    Ross.

    Hello

I see that you have updated the BIOS. I think that it was not a bad idea, but you also need to check if you have installed the latest version of TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3.
I don't know if that helps, but please check.

How to check the current version of TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3
-Select Control Panel in the start menu.
S ' please click on ' Add / Remove Programs "from the control panel.
-TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3 for Windows XP V3.xx.xx.XP"appears in the list of software to ' Add or Remove Programs".
-If the current version of TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3 installed on your computer is V3.19.00.XP or more, please upgrade to the new version V3.21.00.XP.

How to upgrade the TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3 to version V3.21.00.XP
-Uninstall the current version of TOSHIBA Mobile extension 3
    -Restart the computer.
-Download the new version, unzip it by running, and run "Setup.exe" from the compressed file.
