Tecra A11 - 1EG replacement RJ45 Port

Hi all

Can someone point me in the right direction until you get a replacement RJ45 port accommodation as the current broke restraints.

Thank you very much

Craig

As much I know RJ45 port is soldered on the motherboard. If you need to disassemble the computer laptop everything, delete the port, find new and solder on the right place.
You want to do this alone? I mean you have experience with this sort of thing?

  • Tecra A11 - Compatible to express port replicator?

Hey people, does anyone know if a Tecra A11 can be used with version PA3508E of the Express duplicator?

Cannot afford the new while I'm between jobs, and I saw one of these 2nd hand on ebay.

    Hey

Replicator Port Express is not compatible Tecra A11 and Tecra A11, you use the Port Replicator II with PA3680E-1PRP part number specifications.

The second version of this port replicator is designed for these new models such as the Tecra A11 :)

  • Tecra A11 - 1EG - cannot be accessed after the supervisor setting BIOS password

Hello, I would like to know if anyone can help?

We have started to put a supervisor on our laptop Tecra A11 password so that our students can not set passwords on the hard drive, etc.

To enter the BIOS and set a BIOS password, press us F2 that the machine starts.
Then we go to the security option, then supervisor password.
After entering the password we use twice, press us F10 to save etc.

The machine starts ok and will windows smoothly.

The problem we have now, is that we cannot go back into the bios at all.
As machine starts support us on the "F2" key as before, but unlike previously the screen remains white and the "Toshiba leading Innovation > ' screen no longer appears."

If we keep our finger on the F' key or continue pressing the laptop restarts just without ever get to the BIOS screen where I guess that get us ask the supervisor password that we set earlier?

Is there another key, that we should be pressing that start the laptop?

I would add that we have added a password of supervisor for the screen of security BIOS on three of our laptops and all three have the same problem.

    Thank you

    Steve

I think this should be useful for you:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB0B032D0000R01.htm

In some cases, you need to press the "INS" in Toshiba logo appears.

Then appears a prompt for the password for the supervisor and if the password is certified then the BIOS could be entered by pressing the "F2" key

  • Re: Tecra A11 - 1FM - replacement RAM

    Hi all

    I have a Toshiba A11 - 1FM with standard memory: 3 072 (1 024 + 2 048) MB with technology: DDR3 RAM (1 066 MHz)

    I want to upgrade to:
    8 096 (4 + 4) MB with technology: DDR3 RAM (1333 MHz)

    Is this possible?
This module of memory RAM can you recommend?

    Thanks in advance
    Nenad

According to specification for laptop, your laptop can be upgraded up to 8 GB.
You're right about the modules inside. There are two DDR3 1066 MHz (PC3-8500) modules.
You can upgrade RAM to the maximum level, but you must use compatible modules only.

There is no sense to use faster RAM if the FSB speed is slower. You can use faster Rams, but they will run with low speed. Original use and 100% compatible RAM.
Compatible 4 GB of RAM for your laptop Tecra has PA3677U-1M4G part number.

Buy two of them, share original modules and everything will be OK.

  • Tecra A11 & Express Port Replicator II - USB problems

    Hello

I'm having a problem with a port replicator that I simple couldn't have resolved for months. I'll try to explain this as best I can.

We have a Tecra A11, which seems to work fine running on Windows 7 Professional. When the Tecra A11 is pluged in an Express Port Replicator 2, not USB ports in the port replicator's work at all. Very good cell phone fees and the LAN switches on the replicator fine, but the USB ports simly does not work under any circumstances. It would also be interesting to note that the green light next to the "eject" button lights never really.

I downloaded and installed the latest series driver for Windows 7 from the Toshiba support page which has no effect. We had 2 replacements for Toshiba because they also agreed that the previous, we had were not woring correctly, but this obviously was not the case because we still have the same problem with our 3rd unit. The Tecra A11 was sent back to Toshiba with case notes clearly describing the question, and he was sent to us "no fault found".

Unfortunately, we don't have any other laptops to test on the port replicator. but I'm seriously suspect that the problem lies in the laptop, rather than the port replicator. For any idea or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Steve.

    Hello

According to your message, you are not sure if the problem is related to the defective laptop Tecra or express port replicator.
Hmm theoretically the problem might be related to defective express port replicator or Tecra.

If found some information on the USB ports and the repliators port:

+ Make sure that the element of Legacy USB in the BIOS emulation is set to "Enabled". This feature only works for the keyboard and mouse. Also note that the keyboard and mouse must be connected before you start the computer. A USB mouse, keyboard or the floppy drive connected to the Port Replicator via any other connection that a hub of the first level, will not work until the operating system has started. +

I also recommend to check the version of the BIOS; If the most recent BIOS is available, then you need to update this

  • Tecra A11 Port Replicator - do not enable external HARD disk when securing

    Hello

Had a problem with the Port Replicator port for my new Tecra - A11.

When I anchor the laptop in the Replicator, that is not automatically connecting external 700gig USB backup HDD, I have either pull the USB cable on the Replicator, or disable the drive HARD and again so he can be seen and recognized.

I never had this problem with my A8 and its replicator, I could just dock and everything was fine.

    I am running Win7

    Thank you... PK

    Hello

Seems that Win 7 is unable to recognize the external HARD drive that is already connected to the port replicator.
I m not very good if you had to install a software for this external HARD drive, but if software is required, and then try to reinstall again.

  • Tecra A11 for PA3508E-PRP1 (Express Port Replicator)?

The Express Port Replicator PA3508E PRP1 can be used with Tecra A11? Given all that I have read the answer would be no, or Advanced Port Replicator or Express Port Replicator II would be necessary. But the port replicators are very similar on the upper side (connectors). Perhaps it is an old item that no one it lists as compatible more precisely?

is that you must use compatible devices only with laptop Tecra yout and according to specification for your Tecra A11, you can use Express Port Replicator II with PA3680E-1PRP part number.

This port replicator is designed for latest Tecra and Portege laptop models.

  • Tecra A11 - eSATA port multiply

    I have a laptop Tecra A11 - 16Z.

For backup purposes, I want to buy an external hd enclosure. I have 3 hard drives and you want to use on my portable eSata port for connecting the external box. To use all of my HD with eSata, the port on my laptop needs the functionality of 'portmultiplying '. I've found (google, toshiba-homepage, product description) anything on portmultiplying with my laptop.

Does anyone know if my laptop can do portmultiplying? or a toshiba laptop exists that has this feature?

    Thank you
    Stephan

    Hi Stephan295,

I didn't test this feature yet but I searched a bit on the Intel site and found this interesting article:
    http://www.Intel.com/design/chipsets/matrixstorage_sb.htm

Since Intel ICH9 this feature will be supported but I can t tell if it works also on your laptop.

In your case I try it and then post your result here. It would be interesting to know if it works or not. :)

  • Tecra A11 - USB is not loan Express Port Replicator II

    Hey people,

I'm absolutely fed up with this, so I hope you can help me with this: Iam using a Tecra A11 with Express Port Replicator II. There are three problems:

1 USB mouse and USB keyboard are not ready to use so that until that Windows7 is fully loaded (BIOS Mode)

    2. There are USB devices such as USB-HDD, TV Tuner, telephone mobile-station host connected to the port replicator. Laptop remains in the Boot Logo screen and does not start until I have disconnect all devices. So I have to disconnect it, restart it and anchor it again. quite annoying.

    3. using the 64 bit version of WIndows 7 and playback sound stops regularly for 2-3 seconds when I use the speaker plug from the docking station. Using the plug in the laptop itself - no problem.

I am absolutely fed up with it. Anyone have any idea?

    Thank you!

    Hey Buddy,

With regard to the problem of USB:
You have enabled USB legacy support in the BIOS? As far as I know, there is always such an option in the BIOS and it must be allowed, if you want to use USB devices before Windows starts.

And using his most recent drivers for your laptop? You can check it on the Web from Toshiba site if a newer version is available:

    I have a Tecra A11 running windows 7 Professional (32-bit).
My serial port does not seem to work as I am no longer able to connect to the industrial PLC automation which requires the connection to the serial port for programming.

Some of the software I use is a RSLinx, Easysoft and others.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

The serial port is properly recognized in Device Manager?
Do you have signs of yellow exclamation point there?

Try to remove the serial port of the Device Manager and reboot the machine to get this recognized again port.

  • Tecra A11 - less than 10 ips in Skyrim on

    Hello
I have a Tecra A11 i7 which came with a wiped HARD drive
I installed win 7 pro and the drivers from the Toshiba site, including the pilot Intel Turbo Boost Technology.

Even with all the settings set to low temperatures, vid Skyrim runs only less than 10 frames per second.
I upgraded 4-8gig ram, but this did not help.
The GPU is Intel, so I can't use Geforce experience.

I have a Dell Vostro V131 i5 which takes place to better Skyrim.
But the screen is smaller and i/o ports are 90% of dead, so I'd rather use the Toshiba.

There are 4 "unknown devices" in Device Manager, but none of them look relevant.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you

To be honest, I have no reasonable explanation because I don't have this video game and can not test it on my Tecra A11 - 19M.
In my opinion this Tecra is typical business very bad for the games and the machine for office work.
It does not offer good graphics performance and it is not the best for gaming.

I use it for daily activities and games use different model Satellite P with nvidia GPU.

  • Tecra A11 - 17 C - impossible to boot from LAN

    Hello

    For the last few days I worked on a Toshiba Tecra A11 - 17 c PTSE0E - 02W01GEN.

I work in a school and we have about 15 of these laptops. I was not the person who did the origonal installation and this person has not left.

One of the computers needed a re - build. We use an installation of LAN to windows 7 so I put prioraty device that the network card, save it and re - start.

Then, sometimes with the error PXE - E61 Media Test failed, check the cable.
Now, I know the NIC works fine beuse it worked before I did any messing around.

I then checked the other laptop and I get the same error PXE - E61 Media Test failed, check the cable and they all fully functional network ports.

So I thought ok there is something in the BIOS.
I found nothing apart an Enable lan option that is enabled.

It was suggested to relax the default BIOS and then format the hard drive.
So I thought ok well first I'll try it with the BIOS reset if that does not work, I'll do a format.

So after that it does not work I thought Okay I'll just clone your laptop work with clonezilla.

Do I get to the windows flag then instantly the blue screen of death, I can't read it so I is much too fast.

I thought ok I swap hard drives with the work there. The boots work the clone hard drive just fine without error at all, but the work PC hard drive load the windows flag then blue screen of death.

I then used a product recovery disc now, it's a drive of windows XP is usless. But I did anyway, and same thing again, it turns the disc fine install XP fine but the flag windows and blue screen of death.

I finally intertwined a hardrive work 1 different working laptop and a same new blue screen of death in wondows flag.

It seems to me there must be something on the bios that is
    (A) stop the network port in the bios
    (B) stopping the different hard drives to work in the laptop, even if it's exactly the same laptop.

They built from the network before for the wondows current installation works, but I have no idea what to do now.

The error PXE - E61 Media Test failed, check the cable means that the laptop has attempted to boot from LAN, but the configuration of the installation could not proceed.
    Why?
I m not very well why, but probably there is something wrong with the PXE server settings, etc.

Are you sure that PXE server has been correctly configured to 100%?
If this is not the case, check this box.

    > I then used a product recovery disc now, it's a drive of windows XP is usless. But I did anyway, and same thing again, it turns the disc fine install XP fine but the flag windows and blue screen of death.

Always is Win XP installation could be completed, and this means that the HARD drive should be ok.
The BSOD could be due to incompatible software or wrong / driver that is part of the recovery disk

Are you sure that the Win XP Recovery disk you used was the right one?

How about installation using charge Windows 7 system using the disk of Microsoft?

  • Tecra A11 PTSEOU: Some keyboard keys not working not

    Hello

In my Toshiba Tecra A11 PTSEOU - 08904L model, some of the keys on keyboard did not, initially, key 6 did not work. But now about 12 keys did not work.

When I press one of these keys, I hear a single beep and nothing happens.
Even I can't see the bios menu when you start the computer as "press f2 for boot menu".

Is there something to do with the bios for this problem?
I tried updating the bios, but the installation failed saying incompatible bios. Help, please

    Thank you
    Thawfeek.

    > Is there something to do with the bios for this problem?
    BIOS? Why ORGANIC?
I assume that the problem of its equipment and you will have to replace the internal keyboard.

Just to confirm the problem with keyboard: you can connect external USB keyboard.
In case the external keyboard would work correctly, the problem is related to the internal keyboard.

    I am trying to install the drivers for XP on a Tecra A11 AHCI;

Storage power Toshiba drivers are in the form of an executable that will only work if you have AHCI enabled, how anyone runs in compatibility mode supposed to use these?
They don't even extract driver files, you can use only the .cab files and an installer.

  • Tecra A11 - 11: BSOD when plugging in USB devices

Help. We have several laptop Tecra A11 - 11 to different schools * ALL * with the same problems.

When the laptop is up and running if a USB device is plugged into one of the USB ports the laptop flashes a very quick BSOD and dies. What is more remarkable with interactive whiteboard USB connection. If that is connected when the laptop is turned on the swift BSOD happens 9 out of 10 times.

Laptops are downgraded to XP Pro using the Toshiba DVD downgrade. They run on a Server 2003 domain.

I have updated the BIOS twice now on each of them for the latest BIOS. Also updated the graphics driver supporting the Toshiba last request. No difference. I was told last week she was refitted and I would soon hear. I called today a week later and wsa said she had not yet been raised.

We bought these thinking they were large laptops with a lot of future proofing not much good if they are not fit for purpose. Children are missing out on an education smoothly through these problems that Toshiba do not treat.

In addition to this when a non admin user screen resolution of trhe grave at 800 x 600. With the help of a utility shortcut Toshiba Zoom view (Fn + SPACEBAR) you can switch this back as an interim solution, but it is still pending as a flaw.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Many teachers and many children you will be grateful too.

    Hello

It's a little difficult to say what are the causes of BSOD.

    > I have updated the BIOS twice now on each of them for the latest BIOS. Also updated the graphics driver supporting the Toshiba last request.

Have you tried a utility chipset?
