I reinstalled the driver, dosent them work again.

Hello

It looks a bit like a hardware problem but first try them all these common advice;

First try to remove the drive from the Device Manager and restart the laptop. Windows should recognize the CD/DVD drive and re-install the drivers.

If this does not help, you must check this document knowledge of MS;
You receive an I/O device error message when you try to use your CD-ROM drive in Windows XP
http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=891894

According to this MS document, you should try to change the Transfer Mode to DMA to PIO and back.

I hope it helps

  • Tecra M3 recovery DVD-ROM

    Hello

I just bought a brand new M3 in Germany and unfortunately found out that the operating system and the restoration of DVD - ROM is both in German. I contacted the support hotline just to hear that, as I bought it in Germany I could only receive a replacement DVD in German (and no possibility for me to order the DVD in another language... :-( Does anyone on this forum knows how to receive the restoration of DVD - ROM in English

    Any advice is welcome

    Serge

    Hi Serge,

I believe that the terms of licensing for versions of Windows XP OEM it avoid else that distributed in the original language.

You can however buy a real English Microsoft Windows XP installation disc and install on your laptop, then you can download tools and utilities from the web site of Toshiba UK.

    Hello

Sounds like a problem with the hardware of the CD/DVD drive. Maybe the laser lens can not calibrate in the right position and cannot handle the reading and/or writing of CD.

Such a hardware problem is not repairable and only the replacement of the device could help solve this problem.

But wait you are trying to remove the drive from Device Manager?
Try to do it. After restarting again the OS must initialize and recognizes the CD/DVD drive again.
Then try to use the CD.

    Hello

In my opinion the new CD/DVD drive doesn t work because it s is not compatible due to bad settings master/slave/C-salt.

The point is that these parameters can be changed using a jumper. The firmware controls these parameters and therefore not all CD/DVD players are compatible.

My user's manual contains all compatible with my laptop CD/DVD players.
Maybe you should take a look in you user manual for details on compatible players.

If you don't get any what s information on supported CD/DVD players then contact ASP in your country and guys should be able to tell what drive s are compatible.

    Hey Warren,

Test in accordance with the procedure in respect of subheading "Let fix me it myself" on the link below to manually remove the upper and lower filters (there may be only 1 entry) and see if that helps the issue.

I have a Dell Dimension 2400, operating on Windows XP service pack 3, him comes from the computer with a CD burner and I need to install a DVD player, so I bought a HL-DT-ST-DVD-Rom GDR8163B, I installed the DVD and the computer recognizes the DVD-ROM and device manager says it works fine.

When I try to use the DVD to play DVDs or CDs, it starts to run, but slow, then after a few seconds it stops, if I go to my computer, the drive is there and if I click the icon it says insert the floppy, puppy little drive upward and then stops.

  • CD/DVD ROM IO error - please help

    Hi all

I've just adapted to a new TEAC DW-224th on my TECRA S1 because the former was damaged (it has been detected, but its mechanics did not work at all after an access to an airport). This is detected by the operating system (Win XP) and mechanical works, but the LED flashes (orange) continuously and no media can not be read. When I try to open it in the OS Explorer issues the message "the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error.". You have any ideas how I can fix it or if I should go and buy a new one. It's very frustrating not to make a CD/DVD-ROM that works...

  • Tecra S1: DVD ROM not recognized burner (Plextor PX-608AL)

    Hi all

I bought a DVD ROM Writer (Plextor PX-608AL) that is not recognized by my Tecra S1 with XP Pro.

I installed the latest BIOS v2.50 as well as the latest Windows patches.

To the search, in the Setup of the BIOS (ESC during startup), the drive is not available.

I tested the drive in my old non - Toshiba with Win2k laptop with no problems.

Mounting frame is also OK (tested with the original Toshiba DVD ROM)

Y at - there a trick to getting a 3rd disc part DVD working in a Tecra notebook?
    What is generally a problem

Thanks for reading my ad and you answers or advice

    Klaus

    Hello

It won't be very easy get your new work of drive on your S1, I will explain why:

Most DVD players for laptops (including your Plextor 608AL) do not have jumpers to set
their place according to the requirements of the laptop.
    Three settings are available: master/slave/CableSelect

Most Toshiba laptops require the CD to react as a secondary master drive, unfortunately
a disc factory settings in bulk comes as a disk Primary Master or CS.

There are two options how to get to missing jumpers to make it work.
    (1) thanks to a new firmware patch that has this option defined by the software based on Toshiba standard or
    (2) by a bridge of material on some pins to the back of the drive.

As you can see, both options will cancel the guarantee of the reader and are not easy for a techie/technician.

As for option 1) on the search for a suitable firmware... no there are none available now. I checked the official site of Plextor, but also sites of patch firmware... NO CONCLUSION.
According to another Forum, business Plextor responded to a request for a firmware adapted with this answer:

    start of quote:
    Dear Sir.

The drive is detected beeing as a master drive.
This setting cannot be changed. Are there no rider to do so.
How mount you the device to your laptop, it's up to you.
It of different for every laptop and either found in the manual of books or you can request that information from the manufacturers for your laptop.

    Kind regards
    end quote (source: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=199145 )

As in option 2), it requires some skills with soldering and I do not think that this forum is suitable for me to explain this procedure. You should google around to find the procedure "pin 47 ashore" on your own, taking all the risks of losing the warranty and/or the drive on your own.

    Hello

External device is certainly not a problem. You can connect using firewire or a USB connection. Internal solution I recommend you to check user for Tecra A3 on page 7 manuals. There, I hope that you will find all the info you need.

  • ATAPI iHAS324 what is ATA DVD ROM is not responding, error code 10

My DVD ROM(ATAPI iHAS324 Y ATA Device) no longer responds and it has an error code 10.  How can I make it work again?

According to the testing of operating system following the steps under "Windows 7 or Windows Vista" or "Windows XP" in the MS KB article:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/982116

These measures, to remove the UpperFilters and LowerFilters, values if they exist, in the registry key named can help.

Create a System Restore Point beforehand and restart the computer later.

  • Vista Home Premiun Device Manager does not display my CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive

I recently tried to use my CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive and it did not work. It was working fine a few days previously but now... Nothing.

My first reaction was to open Windows Explorer, expand and look at computer. There was my C drive and the recovery Partition but no Opitical drive more.
Then I opened the Device Manager and saw that the CD was registered it is more as well?

    My question is

Vista automatically removes the CD-ROM drive in the list of Device Manager if there is a problem with the drive itself?

Or is there something that happened this suppression the CD-ROM in Device Manager list and it is not a problem with the drive itself?

I had a disc go bad before on a PC running Windows 98 and 2000, but the disc stayed in the Manager list but I'm pretty new to Vista and know things are very different. So before we get in panic Mode, I thought that it would be a good idea to ask where someone will know probably for sure.

    Thanks in advance for clues

    Hello

1st try a restore of the system if you have a point of return before it happened.

How to make a Vista system restore
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-System-Restore-how.html

    -----------------------------------

    If no joy:

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
