Tecra A4: Wlan Intel 2200bg not stable with 802.11 G WLan

With the latest driver re-installed (9.0.4.39), I found a connection to a network of 'g' was unstable. (A little better than before you reinstall, when it connect to a network of 'g', but does not have all the data.)

With a BT Homehub, now a router DLink DSL-2640R (TalkTalk) I found that to have a stable connection with the latest version of the driver is to configure the router to use only 'b' network. But it's slower.

Until I got a different router (recent change of telco provider) I assumed it was a problem of BT Homehub (believe me, I had spent some time trying to solve the issue!). However, now that I've tried both routers and found the same problem, I thought it would be a problem with the configuration of the laptop...

I kept many downloads wireless driver I have installed and tried to think of the happy times when cell phones and the homehub were happy to communicate on a network of 'g '. I went back to 9.0.4.17 driver version and guess what, all problems disappeared with the new router, and fortunately it is connected to a network of 'g '.

Normally, the Council is to use the latest version of the driver, then why I would have success with an older driver. What have I done wrong? I tried different types of encryption available and it did not affect the problem.

I've got the box to allow windows to configure my network. I when I tried using the software Proset, but who stopped the ConfigFree to run correctly so I went back to the original set upward there.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I have to do to get a stable connection to a network of 'g' with an Intel 2200bg with the latest driver (9.0.4.39)? I am suspicious that I can run into other issues if I continue to use the old driver?

There are always problems of compatibility with wireless products, particularly when connecting different brands. Manufacturers are constantly updating the drivers for the problems, but sometimes it can introduce problems with old ones as the 2200BG card.

First thing to do is update the firmware on your router, and then update the drivers for the wireless adapter. If later drivers do not work, it won't hurt to return to a previous version.

You can also try to change the advanced settings in the properties of wireless adapters in Device Manager. For example, try the configuration to "802.11 g only", try another channel, try different power settings, etc...

I updated all the drivers, deleted all and installed the wireless drivers. All tried, but now I give up. It will not connect. I think it might be a problem with the generation of WLAN (Intel 2200bg) modem, but how can I be sure?

    Hello

Just a quick comment: I use the M70 Satellite with the same card WLAN. Last week I installed the latest driver WLAN of the Toshiba download page. I also installed Intel PROSet, but I use Windows WLAN configuration.

If you want to disable Intel PROSet and just use Windows WLAN configuration press F10 and confirm with YES. You can use WPA encryption, but be sure that you set WPA - PSK (no server) option and choose between two Techniques of encryption (TKIP or AES). On my router default is TKIP. The same settings that you can find in the WLAN Properties on the wireless networks tab.

If you want to use zero (recovery CD), you can reinstall Windows XP Home edition only.

  • Tecra A3: Intel 2200bg card compatible with only 11 channels

As we know Wifi network cards have Channel 13 (European version). Tell me if I'm wrong. I have wifi card Toshiba Tecra A3-184 with 11 chains only (American version). What I would do. I installed the new drivers bu t that nothing has changed.

    Hello

    I found this:

The European Standard ETS 300328 allows for 13 channels. A card that is able to use all of the 13 channels is a so-called "ETS-map" These cards-ETS can be used in Europe.
The Canada and the USA, there are only 11 channels authorized use.
In Japan, there are 13 channels like in Europe.
In order to use a WiFi card anywhere in the world, a standard of the so-called 'GLOBAL-Card' with 11 channels was created.
Toshiba WiFi cards are "World-card" class standard, which are allowed for use in the world.

    Note:
A class of 'World map' WiFi can not be improved to an ETS card with 13 channels.

By mistake, I was under the impression that the assignment of pins for Mini PCI cards had been agreed and that it was the norm. What is rocking the boat Toshiba or Intel? My first impression is Intel as a search for "2200BG" throws up a lot of problems and not all models of Toshiba.
However, I suggest anyone who has problems with the Mini PCI 2200BG card try first the fuse high-tech method of tape adhesive tape.
BTW the wireless switch or fn + F8 still does not work.

    Hi Alison

The fact is that this Intel card is part of the Centrino concept and many laptop producers use this to own units. A few days ago that I've que j' ai ete been I electronic store and I looked into many notebooks (various manufacturers) and almost all device manager have this card.

The fact is that the producers of the laptop cannot do much. In my opinion, Intel should test and verify the functionality first. If you visit the Intel download page there are a lot of new drivers for this card and I believe that trying to Intel to make it better. We'll see.

  • Tecra M5: Recovrey CD was not provided with the device

I bought brand new Tecra M5. My tecra M5 is to have Windows XP Professional. After such an enormous investment, I wonder why Toshiba have no cd of Windows XP Professiona included with this system? If some how we need to reinstall Windows XP Professional, where I'll get the windows cd?

It is an important issue for me and I would appreciate a response and that I should talk to Toshiba for this problem?

    Hello

To my knowledge the recovery CD or DVD should be delivered with this device.
You should contact your dealer or the ASP in your country and explain the situation.
In addition, you will find an option to burn a clean tools & utility on this laptop CD.

  • Tecra M4: Wifi only with 802. 11 b

    Hello

I have a tecra M4 (WIFI intel 2200bg). G works only if I'm very closed to the router (inventel and tested with Dlink, Linksys), I mean max 3 meters. If this isn't the case, I "see" the router, but it always fail in the course of the negotiation of intellectual property.

I updated the driver to 9.0.2.25, but nothing has changed.
I'm still using windows XP auto config mode.

If I want to go outside the range of 3 meters, I have to go to B (and it works perfectly, except that it is slooow).

Any idea? I saw a couple of threads, but there is no response :(

    Hi pleky

If you read carefully the other headings on the network without WIRE Intel 2200bg card he described similar problems with this card. In my opinion the most instructive is a http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=5148.

Here you can find a few links to some interesting documents on the web page of Intel.

  • Tecra A6 does not start with battery only

    Hi all
I'm having a strange problem with a Tecra A6 I picked up recently at the refurb because it does not start with a battery only: it starts only when / sector is also connected, but eventually DΘmarrer on battery alone (and works fine) with the power cord removed shortly after pressing the power button. It's just on battery alone, I get no answer by pressing the power on button (so the power outlet must be set at this first stage or I don't get anything).

Now I'm wondering if maybe it's the battery voltage? It seems that there are 2 options for this model, a 10.8 v and the other at 11.1V. With loaded Windows and Hardware Monitor reports running the battery is at 0% wear level and cool until completely (so I don't think that the battery is faulty), but it indicates that the battery is running at * 11, 1V, * but the battery installed is actually the * model 10.8v*. Could that prevent any power on only to batteries?

More information on the model I have:
    Tecra A6-PTA60E-0EJ013EN
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0 Ghz
    2 GB of Ram.

Thanks in advance for any help on this one. Essential, I would like to know is if I have a 11.1V battery to run this model correctly (and get it) on battery alone. If the voltage makes no difference so I guess it must be a weird motherboard problem and I need bother not buy a new battery.

    > Will have to buy another battery and see if the same thing happens (I'll know then if it is the motherboard), but in the meantime if anyone can let me know if the voltage is serious I would appreciate it.

To my knowledge, the batteries for Tecra A6 should take in charge 10.8V
There's piles more strong for example 5200mAh but the voltage must be the same 10.8

  • M40X with intel 2200BG wireless no wpa and slow downloads

    Hello

I'm not able to activate wpa. so I currently use the system wireless without encryption. the internet connection is not stable and the download rates become slower.
in any case, I am not at all satisfied free config. is there a better program to work on my toshiba?
my phone is 1 month old, and parameters are as I've had in the store.
    Thanks for any help

    Hello

I put t really know why you are not satisfied with ConfigFree. It is a small and useful for the monitoring of the connections program. You can not use for WLAN or LAN configuration, but you can see all the connections that you use and you have total control over all devices that can be used for different types of connections.

If you don't like it because of the WPA option n I have to repeat that you can not use this application for WLAN configuration. ConfigFree is not responsible for this problem because of it.

As far as I know if the wireless network adapter supports WPA encryption it should not have any problem. As Lucky, you can configure your WLAN by using the Windows WLAN configuration. You can find it under properties WLAN on the wireless networks tab. Under preferred networks chose a available and go to properties. I put t know what WLAN card you have but according to producer WLAN card unit is also pre-installed with WLAN client. You can also use, but WLAN Windows MUST be disabled.
