I have searched this forum for an answer to my qusetion below but can't find descriobe my script, I hope someone here can help me understand if my upgrade is viable before you start along backup and the resettlement process.

I bought my PC with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit OEM.

When Windows 7 was launched I purchsaed the upgrade to Home Premium disc which included 32-bit and 64-bit.

At the time many applications that I used was not compatible 64 bit so I simply upgrded to Windows 7 32 bit, I activated and have used since.

I am now find my system a bit slow and the most cost-effective upgrade would be to increase my ram from 2 GB to 8 GB, but only if I can also move to 64-bit.

What I read in other posts, the upgrade disks I have purchsed enabled me to move from 32-bit Vista either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7.

    My qusetion is:-

Having already made the choice to upgrade my Vista 32 bit OEM for Windows 7 32 bit and activated this version, I can now reinstall using the same product keys but this time using the 64-bit installation disk?

I hope I'm not alone here, and others will be tried this and can therefore confirm the result.

    Kind regards

    Robert

You can use the key to existing product that you originally used to install and activate the Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit.

Installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit will not necessarily make your computer faster however.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7

For information about how to modify your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, see the following tutorial:

    http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/

Once your computer is configured to boot from the DVD, you should see this option.

    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

    Hello

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

With a Toshiba, you press 0 (zero) to start to start the ro process of factory of the recovery Partition recovery.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Satellite A100-979: cannot find Vista 64 bit driver for Toshiba buttons

    Hello!

I have a problem to find a driver for the multimedia keys on my Satellite A100-979(6 easy keys). I have Windows Vista 64-bit and this computer laptop should be vista capable. Can someone help me? Maybe you have an idea to solve this problem.

    > this laptop should be able to vista

Of course, it s Vista capable. You installed Vista on the Satellite A100-979 and it works.

You ask drivers for the 64 bit version of Vista? Well, unfortunately, but there is nothing to see!
It should be common that Toshiba does not all 64-bit drivers. or for XP for Vista. :(

  • Satellite A500-1EE - where to find the 32-bit drivers for Windows 7?

    Welcome!

I have the Satellite A500-1EE with the 64 bit version of Windows 7 and I need to install the 32-bit version of this system. Is this possible?

Because I can not find the drivers for 32 bit.

    Hi tosipaw,

Of course, it is possible and you can install what you want on your laptop, but I put t understand why you want to change to 64-bit to 32-bit OS.
What are the reasons for that?

Normally everything can be downloaded here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Your model belongs to the series of PSAR9E and so only drivers 64-bit available.

If you are looking for all models A500 (without PSAR9E), you will find a large number of drivers Vista 32 bit. Maybe they work and it s worth a try! :)

  • Installed Windows 7 64 bit - 4 GB / 3 GB usable, whereas with Windows Vista 64-bit - 4 GB usable

    Hello
    I have the Asus N70SV B1.

    Specifications: (http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Multimedia_Entertainment/N70Sv/#specifications)

No problems with Windows Vista 64 bit, recognizing the 4 GB of RAM. After the upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit 4 GB installed / usable RAM problem / 3 gb. I also checked the following.

    1. I am running windows 7 64 bit, NOT 32 bit, I wouldn't be able to run Adobe After Effects® CS5.5 and Adobe first® Pro CS5.5 elsewise.
    2. the unusable 1 GB of RAM is not used by the operating system, it's hardware reserved
    3. the video card Nvidia GT 130 m 1 GB, shouldn't need that RAM - it certainly didn't on the factory installed Windows he dedicated RAM.
    4. I tried disabling and enabling msconfig - boot - Max memory settings, no option solves the problem.
    5. He has no option of memory in the BIOS settings to disable the cache in memory / memory the occultation.

    * I had to use the 64-bit of Windows Vista sound drivers work correctly with Windows 7 64 bit. So I thought that the version of bios or Vista 64 bit can thus solve the problem usable 4 / 3 gb.

    * Yes, I have flashed the bios to Windows Vista 64-bit and that still does not solve the problem. Although the system seems faster, it still shows only 3 GB usable.

There should not be a problem with this bios version seen only with the 64 bit Vista OS recognized all 4 GB.  I am confused and have no idea where to go from here.

    Please help.

    Hello

  • Satellite L505 - 10 M - where to find Win 64-bit drivers?

    I bought a new laptop L505 - 10M. I also bought a version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
I wanted to install it on this laptop, but there is no drivers listed on the page of the driver for the L505 - 10M 64 - bit.

What was even more surprising, it was that there was still all drivers available for Vista 64-bit.
Yet, the laptop comes with a pre-installed version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Which means that the drivers are there but have not been available.

It bothers me a lot. Unable to get the package of added value and the card Flash work support.

Hope someone can clear this up for me.

    Thank you.

    Hello

64-bit drivers are not available at this time. I think you need to wait until you get all the drivers Win 7 FRO this unit

As you say the laptop was preinstalled with Win 7 64 bit. so why you n t make a Windows 7 home premium to Ultimate upgrade?

I think that this should function and could be the right solution until the pilots of Windows 7 would be available.

  • Try to troubleshoot Vista 32 - bit OEM Windows Update

In particular, my updates 100% and hang indefinitely, with taskmgr reports only 0% cpu is then used by TrustedInstaller.exe or wuauclt.exe. In addition when sfc/scannow runing in a command prompt, it claims to 27% that "Windows Resource Protection" could not perform the requested operation. Is it a problem with the permissions on Vista, I wonder? Also note that he reached such a State of completion, the message "Configuring Updates" is at the request / triggered and appears the next time.

Quote your full version of Windows (for example, Vista SP1;) Vista 64 - bit SP2) when you post in a forum or a newsgroup. Please do it in your next reply. CF. http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/1467f44b-ee27-4f7d-98d7-f1c4b35b3395

  • Tecra A10 with Intel WiFi 5100 running Vista 32 bit fails to connect WiFi

    Hello

a whole new Tecra A10 with buildin Intel 5100 WiFi fails to connect to the Wlan router, using the pre-installled Vista Business 32-bit. Vista has always said: wrong password.

Yes, Wifi hardware is enabled, of course. And Tecra WiFi OK MAC is stored in the config of the router. Also the WiFi settings were correct (wpa2-psk aes), corresponding to the Wlan router. Password WPA2 is 13 characters. Connect all the other machines with a Wlan successfully turns a working Wlan configuration and use of the correct password.

I installed the latest driver on the Toshiba site - without success. I also installed the version of the driver from the Intel site will, too--without success. Doesn't matter what tool I used to connect, Vista itself, or the specific tool of Toshiba (Radar), choice to get an encrypted Wlan connection.

WPA2 and WPA or WEP can be used. I can't get a Wlan connection when encryption is totally * disabled *! Currently, I use a * clear * Wlan to use this Tecra A10 in the network. Real gross and no solution for more than a few days.

All other devices in the same network can connect the router Wlan with WPA2-PSK and WEP, no problem. Only the A10 / WiFi 5100 fails.

Searching the Web I found really many reports all issue of WiFi with a WiFi 5100 devices, so it seems to be a generic material or / and driver issue.

How can I correct this Wifi 5100 connect problem and use encryption WPA2-psk on Tecra A10 and WiFi 5100 with Vista? If this is not possible, I have to return this laptop and get another model with a working Wifi / Wlan Hardware.

    Thank you.

    Hello Thomas

Have you tried to connect your laptop to another router by friends or elsewhere?
It is really strange that you can use any of the WIFI ciphers available.
Have you tried to reboot your router?

I have Satellite A300-1LI with the same card, WLAN, preinstalled with Toshiba recovery WXP image and I use it sometimes linked to the WLAN with WEP encryption.
Have you tried to contact Toshiba or your local dealer for advice?
