  Maybe you need to check the different CDs from different manufacturers and should change the slower burning at that speed.

  If this will not help then a CD/DVD drive problem could be the reason why don't not all disks are readable.

Frankly I find it a bit annoying when someone does something like that, but oh well... what you could do is to try a cleaning disc (the one with little brushes this topic) or a good breath of air compressed.   Thanks for the post with suggestions. I have tried it all and still had the same problem. I called Dell and got the laptop computer and an hour with a tech restarted my computer and try to fix it, they decided that something in the upgrade process damaged my CDRom and they sent me a new to replace my current one. I'll get it Tuesday and weather post or not, that is the question. Just in case where there are other people out there who might have the same problem.

• SD-R2312 will not read DVD or CD in Tecra 8100

  My DC - ROM drive (SD-C2302) died. I bought a second hand SD-R2312 indicating various Web sites should work. I installed the connector of the previous disc and put it in the Tecra.
  The Tecra struggled to recognize the drive but remove and reinsert the drive sets. Device Manager recognizes the drive SD-R2312 and reports that it works correctly.
  However, the drive will not read anything. It vibrates far and finally tells me that the disk is not formatted. I tried pressed CDs and DVDs and burn CDs and DVDs (all - R). These are all the discs that can be read on my other machine.
  So, please:
  What can I do to make it work (and where can I get the update of the drive/firmware/BIOS)
  or is this idea a waste of time, in which case, how will I know what CD drives are compatible with the 8100.

  You have disk problem as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (burn CD & DVD and CD and DVD read).

  I have a Toshiba M30X with combi DVD/CDRW drive.
  I have accumulated 12 GB of digital photo I wanted to erase but do not want the number of CDs that can be the so I bought an external DVD LITEON EZ - DUB and made 3 DVD - R burner of plenty of JPEG.
  However, when I put the DVD in the drive of Toshiba combi, it clicks for a moment or two, but when I click on the combi drive in my computer, the folder is empty and it is said there are 0 bytes.
  CD of still works, audio and data, DVD movies fine, reading DVD-R on my Pioneer DVD recorder (for TV - looks like a video/nothing to do with PC) plays very well, but he won't recognise DVD - r with data (JPEG or MP3) on them.
