Tecra M2 and wireless network - signal strength problem

Need advice buying wireless kit.

I have a DSL phone line connection and I am currently using a Speedtouch USB modem connected to my workstation down.

I have a laptop Toshiba Tecra M2 with construction of wireless support. I want to be able to share the internet connection which comes in the workstation down. I guess that my options for the workstation are to use a DSL wireless modem to share the internet connection or to use a PCI card in my computer. I tried them both.

I first tried to set up an infra mode network with the laptop using a LinksysWAG54G which was connected to the telephone line and a computer. But the problem with that I was t couldn't do accept the subnet mask that my ISP (Lixxus) provided 255.255.255.255 (PPoA). This modem has all the masks of SN in a dropdown list, but mine isn't in this list. I returned this modem.

I tried then set up an adhoc network purchase buy a PCI Wireless card for my desktop, and internet connection sharing etc. on the workstation. However, while it worked, and I could see the desktop of my laptop, the problem has been the wireless range. The signal disappear when I wore the laptop in the back room on the first floor. It would have been a distance of 10 meters in a straight line between the laptop and desktop. There are walls two bricks and a floor between the two machines. It seemed hopeless, so I sent the PCI card.

I'm not sure what to try next.

Any suggestions that I could try next?

Suggested hardware?

Signal strength - could the problem be that the antenna in portable insufficient Tosh - it too small?

Hello

I have the same situation at home. The best solution for this is to use the wireless router. Here you have the possibility to connect several computers desktop or laptop. In this case the configuration of wireless connection is very easy and it works fine. I also use it at home and in front of my house with no problems.

    Hello

I have a fixed computer Windows 7, I need to configure for the use of wire and wireless networks.

On the phone we transfer vast amounts of data, astronomy cameras than only products of 20 to 30 seconds, space images 3-4 GB each. The cameras are connected to the top of a tower, which in turn is connected via a 45 feet cable CAT-5 to the search engine.

Internet access requires a wireless network connection.

These two connections work - separately. I have to disable an and activate the other to pass. This jump back and foth is obviously a bit inconvenient.

How to configure Windows 7 to manage both types of networks at the same time? On another forum I learned this kind of configuration is called multihoming, and it's something difficult to achieve.

Having studied more about it, there is another possible solution called Internet connection sharing. that may be easier. I haven't used this option for years (since the routers were introduced) but is still active.

Disable DHCP on the Dovado or use a cable between the PC and the laptop.

Turn on the wireless on the PC and make sure that you have an internet connection. Disable wireless on the laptop. Connect the PC's LAN ports and laptop (via router or a cable crossover).

IN the network of PCs and next to the connections Sharing Center, you must have 2 Ethernet and WiFi options. Double click on WiFi, then on the next screen, click Properties.

The second tab in the next screen is sharing, check allow other users of the network to connect and then OK.

Define the IP addresses for PC and laptop as in my previous post, but this time on the laptop set the default gateway to the IP address of the Wired of the PC port, the 1st DNS to the address of the Huawei and value of secondary school who suggested for your ISP.

  • (Satellite-M45-S269) alternating current and wireless network connection

    Hey!
Recently I had the following problem: when the laptop is plugged into AC power, wireless works strangely. I want to say that I am able to connect (in fact the signal strength is excellent and packages, the computer receives notoriously exceeds those sent) However, every four or five minutes and always connected, unable to load web pages, as well as the lights of the connection icon in the taskbar wireless network does not appear then this problem occurs (which I (, it means that I stop receiving packets)

However, this only happens when the laptop is plugged into AC power.
Any ideas on what's going on? The battery begins to fail? The other day when I turned on the laptop, the screen went black and started making a strange noise, so I removed the battery and put it back, and it worked again.

    Hope someone can help me.
    Looking forward to hearing responses.
    Thank you

    Hello

    I recommend following:
First check to see if you can update the WLan card driver.
If the new driver WLan is available the updated it!
Also the BIOS should be updated to the newest version too.

After the update did go to Device Manager and check WLan card properties.
There is a last power management tab.
There, you can disable the WLan Card for energy savings.

    Check it out!

  • a6755y: a6755y wired and wireless network hard

I already spoke with my ISP nothing helps technical support.

I recently created my desktop computer again after having been stored for several months. Before I put it there, I was using wireless internet and local wireline connections regularly and without problem, and now I can not access to either. I have a strong connection with the modem/router device, so I thought that the issue could be in how its configuration or interpret the connection from my computer, but nothing, I have discovered has indicated that this was the case, and convenience store customer support my ISP did not find anything abnormal. I was now more confused when I discovered that it also fails to connect to another computer using a direct wired connection, even though I had in the past linked their and transfer large files regularly. I would like to assume that these issues are linked, to make the simplest solution; but as one involves a separate network adapter, and the other connects directly to the motherboard, I don't think that's likely.

For any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

How is the computer to the router? (Sometimes too much signal is as bad as not enough)

What type of cable you are using for the connection from computer to computer, you mentioned?

    There is special software required?

Have you other wireless devices that are connected to this router without problem?

  • Wireless network signal strong with IP address correct but still no internet!

I'm trying to set up a wireless network by using a 2wire gateway. Initially, my Dell laptop (XP) would receive a signal, but cannot connect. I received the generic 169.XXX.XXX.XXX IP address. After some research, I went into properties and changed the IP info and gateway to match my router. This solved my "limited / no activity" problem I had and the correct IP address showed also on my laptop. HOWEVER... I can not connect to internet. I did the "run...". IP/config' thing and still no dice. Any help will be appreciated!

    Hi jns4be,

Thanks for all the information. With the wireless is not unable to broadcast a signal, you will need to contact 2-wire or it is provided by your Internet access provider. With the computer plugged it looks like you are renting an IP right as shown above.

    ... Description: Broadcom 440 x 10/100 Integrated Controller
    ... The IP address: 192.168.1.116

Can connect you to the internet? As it appears IP or valid, you communicate with your entry door.

Can I update the driver? My inclination is that this may have something to do with the laptop is not able to support WPA?

    > Can I update the driver? My inclination is that this may have something to do with the laptop is not able to support WPA?
    This may be possible

The point is that this laptop is an oldie and the wireless network adapter appears to be old too.
I ve no idea what WLan card you have, but you could try to connect to the WLan without use of encryption settings. Disable encryption on the router Wlan and test connectivity again. of course, this must be done only for testing purposes
The wireless network must be always secure

The alternative could be the use of external USB WLAN, it would be the easiest and fastest way for that to be resolved

  • No Internet access, the 'Connect to the Local network' and 'Wireless network connection' are "Local only".

I'm portable computer maintenance of the customer, a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5885, under Vista Home Premium x 86 SP2, with infections by malicious software and internet connection problems. I have managed to get rid of all of its 251 infections and I am now addressing the connectivity problem. I'm unable to achieve on its ethernet or a wireless connection to Internet. The two network status of connections 'Unidentified network', and also ' access: Local only ' all other machines hooked up to my router via CAT5e and some via 802.11 g/n, have excellent speeds with internet connectivity, so I know that the problem is limited to his machine. I tried the following:

Deactivation and reactivation of these two connections: FAIL.

"Diagnose and repair" on the two connections: FAIL.

Under dynamic I.P. type to static/static to the dynamic: FAIL.

Uninstalled all network via Device Manager devices, then restart: FAIL.

Manually uninstalled all the drivers and utility and installed the latest versions: FAIL

I don't know if this is related to the question of appeals Z10 has dropped, but I noticed that my carrier signal strength jumps from full bars to (say) 2 shelves for the big X red for no reason my phone is just sitting there.

This may be related, but I also calls recently, and my quality of phone (although normally I would say great) was virtually zero as if I had to drive into a tunnel (you know, that jerky digitized sound).  Actually, I was sitting in front of one of my rounds of carriers.

  • Satellite C660 - key FN and wireless network detection no longer works

    Hi people,

As a result of a virus, I put my computer to its factory settings.

I have however lost the use of the function fn (end?) of the keyboard since and therefore cannot control the lighting of the screen and so on via the F keys any longer.

Also, my computer can not detect wireless networks more. I did all the required updates and checked the State of the wireless card, but still nothing.

    Any ideas?

    See you soon!

    Hello

May I ask what system you have installed on this laptop?
    Is - this Windows 7?

If you are using Windows 7, you need to install Toshiba Value added Package and Support Toshiba Flash Cards for utility work affects FN.

I m nit course on the WLan driver because different C660-xxx supports various wireless network cards. Perhaps you could provide the name of the complete model of the C660-xxx
This would facilitate the search for the Wlan driver.

  • PC connection and wireless network?

Only, I ordered my mom a HP Envy 5530 and have looked through the manual. I'm a little still well confused on which method to use to connect to the wireless network.

Currently, she has a Canon printer & scanner connected to a PC via USB and I could leave them installed until I'm sure she'll love the envy... its router is connected to this PC.

She would like to be able to use the 5530 for print & scan from the PC but also to print wireless from its iPhone / iPad.

So should which method I use to connect the 5530 to PC & Wireless network?

This is possible. Once the printer on the network, it can print from any device that is also on the network. In other words, if the PC is on the network, it can print her wireless too, she didn't need the USB cable connected to anything. If she wants to connect the USB cable to the computer on which is correct also. In the end, as long as the printer is configured for the network, she will be able to print from his iPhone and iPad!

He didn't need a wireless adapter, the printer is equipped with a wireless radio which allows it to be configured for the network.
