Tecra M2: Energy saving - have no access rights

Hello

I am running a Tecra M2 with Windows XP SP2 and I recently installed Toshiba Power Saver as I want to make the most of my battery on a flight that I take. However, when I try to run the Toshiba Power Saver in the Control Panel, I get a window with the following error message:

Cannot be opened because you do not have access rights to use 'TOSHIBA Power Saver'.

I am logged on as administrator, but I still get the same problem. I even re-installed Windows XP, but after having installed all the drivers, I get the same error. I tried to install the version of Win2K of soft, but it gives the same problem.

Any help is appreciated as I want to make the most of my laptop computer power wise.

TIA

Klaus

    Hi Jason

I put t think it's problem of Toshiba Power saver.
Of course, you can set these parameters in the energy saver and energy-saving control this option but in my eyes he s not the energy saver.

I recommend the update driver graphic of the latest version that is available on the Toshiba driver page.
Additional verification of the version of the BIOS. If new BIOS is available try to update. But be sure that Jason the BIOS wrong can damage your unit!

  • Satellite M40-282: I don't have access rights to run Power Saver

I installed GST when I reinstalled my new OS manually
and I installed GST but he did not show up to reinstall after.
In the control panel when I try to click the GST that it says 'cannot be opened because you do not have access rights to run Toshiba Power Saver '.

But I am logged on as administrator for sure

    Hello

It s very strange and unusual.
Have you chosen the right drivers and you have everything installed correctly?

I studied a little on the net and it seems that the M40-282 Sat has a serial number PSM42E and so take the drivers of the PSM42E series.
(On the driver page I saw three different M40 accordingly large number)

I discussed with other users, and especially incorrect installation was the problem. On the driver page, I found a statement of installation, and in my opinion, you should follow the guidelines in this document.
Everything should then work. I hope ;)

    Check it out. Good bye

  • Could not open a file to VMDK using SAN transport using Netbackup 7.1 "you don't have access rights to this file.

    Hello

I'm trying to backup VMware clients using Netbackup for VMWare 7.1 using the type of transfer to san, and the forum NBU told me that my vm-admin user has no right of access to the VMDK file. However, I checked and I can download the backup host VMDK files and take and remove snapshots as vm-admin user.

The servers are configured as follows:

    vc01 is a Win2008R2 vSphere 5.1 Server

ENC1-bl09 by enc1-bl12 are blades running ESXi 5.1

VM-bak01 is a Win2008R2 NBU media server 7.1 server and is defined in NBU as backup VMWare host

Data warehouses that contain the VMDK files for the guests are all about EMC and HDS storage accessible via the San by the NBU Media Server and ESXi servers (although mapped through different areas)

ESXi servers have access to local data and NFS storage warehouses too, but none of these warehouses are used by clients.

I could save a few guests we via NDB, but they finish in time because the network is not fast enough. Estimated time of 8 days for nightly backup!

So I have to use a SAN to back up the guests, but he keeps fails with the error below...

  • You don't have access rights to this file

    Hello again everyone.

I get an error using the example of application the VDDK (vix-disklib-sample).  I am using the SAN mode for the information on the disks, but I get this error message:

Error: [vixDiskLibSample.cpp:599] d you don't have access rights to this file

I am using the same machine that I used in my previous post: 1730997.  I will repeat them here:

    The command I used:

    LD_LIBRARY_PATH = / usr/lib/vmware-vix-disklib/lib64. / vix-disklib-sample - info.
    initex - /root/.vmware/vix-disklib.conf - libdir/usr/lib/vmware-vix-disklib.
    -mode 'san' - 'moref = vm-13141' vm - ssmoref ' snapshot-13314' \ '.
    -welcomed the vcenter.company.com - user "administrator@company" - password "xxxxxx".
    "[VM-devices] vMA/vMA - 000001.vmdk'."

I checked using MoB that those are references to managed object appropriate for the virtual machine and the snapshot (see my previous post).

This is the machine I use it on:

    Processor: 2 x Xeon of Intel (r) CPU 5150 @ 2 .66GHz
    Memory: 3924MB (3331 MB used)
    Operating system: Ubuntu LTS 10.04.2

    Kernel: Linux 2.6.38.2 - candela (x86_64)
    Compiled: #1 SMP kills Mar 29 16:52:38 CDT 2011
C Library: Library GNU C version 2.11.1 (stable)
    Default C compiler: compiler GNU C version 4.4.3 (Ubuntu 4.4.3 - 4ubuntu5)

    Version VDDK: VMware-vix-disklib - 1.2.1 - 323406.x86_64.tar.gz

Think otherwise says may be something to do with the SAN mode, I ran vmware-mount to check that I could actually mount the drive in question.  I managed to mount the drive with the following command:

    LD_LIBRARY_PATH = / usr/lib/vmware-vix-disklib/lib64 vmware-mount.
    v 'KS-PROD-data center/vm/vMA' h vcenter.company.com u 'administrator@company '.
    F /root/.password f ' [VM-devices] vMA/vMA - 000001.vmdk "/ mnt/test /.

Anyone has any ideas of what this could be?  The error is a little vague...

I've also attached the log output

One thing you should be aware of: you will not be able to access a drive that is currently in use by the virtual machine.  If you have created a snapshot on a virtual computer running, you'll be able to get access to the base vmdk, but not for the instant vmdk.  This is because the instant vmdk - is in use, but the base is not the disc.

  • vmrun deleteFileInGuest translates by "error: you do not have access rights to this file.

    Hello

    I have Workstation 7.1.2 build 301548, host VMW is Win7 64 bit and comments is Win7 64-bit.

I tried using vmrun deleteFileInGuest command to delete a file read-only in the comments and get "error: you don't have access rights to this file", however, I was manully able to remove this file from the client. If I uncheck the 'Read only' property of the file, then I can remove it from the host.

As I need to delete the file as part of my automation script, I was wondering if there is any work around?

    Thank you

    Eileen

FWIW, I've played around with this for a bit and in the end the only way I could delete the target file's read-only attribute was actually write a program (rmroa.exe) that precisely does that.  Basically the program does that attrib r shell and pass the target of the file to remove the attribute of as an argument to the program.

vmrun -T ws -gu -gp runProgramInGuest 'c:\test\rmroa.exe' 'c:\test\program\test.ini'

In other words enforcement rmroa.exe in this way called attrib.exe r "c:\test\program\test.ini" including the read attribute only to rid of this file.

As a test I have scripted the whole process of copy rmroa.exe from host to host and then executed it, removed the test.ini and then delete the rmroa.exe file.  Sometimes it takes just a little more to get the job done.

    Hi gurus,

I'm under Hyperion Smart View for Office version 9.3.1.0.247 on Excel 2007.

I encountered error "You don't have the appropriate access rights to perform this task" during its connection. I can't do other work after that.

The mysterious thing is that when I tried to create another user with the same access rights, I do not encounter this error at all.

Furthermore, when I tried to connect with another user who does not have this error, disconnects and immediately after, I me re - connect under the id problem with the same error disappears. (However, it reappears after a start of expenses excel place and first login with id problem)

Personally, I don't think its an issue access rights but more like a bug somewhere. Anyone encountered such a problem before?

  • Energy saving of Toshiba on SP M30

I have the same problem with Toshiba watch on my SP M30 laptop running WinXP SP2 and SP1.
This utility generally LCD Brightness according to the level of the battery.
If you connect your laptop to external power the display gets bright IF you are logged on as an administrator.
This is not the case if the user has no administrator rights, the user gets the access denied message if you try to start this application.

If I understand correctly Power Saver should adjust the brightness of the LCD screen automatically, or it should be at least possible to choose a predefined profile even if connected as a user.

Energy saving settings may deny access to the application to users, but I don't have a check mark in this box.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the app without success.
Even with no installed saver the screen goes black, and then even an admin can not fix it.
    Any suggestions?

    / Normunds

    Hello

your first question is not clear as what experience do you have with the energy saver and SP1 or SP2? Could you write it down more detailly to facilitate the support of the community.

In my opinion, you had installed as administrator energy saver and maybe you restrict the user rights!

For the problem solve you should uninstall the energy saver and do a fresh install with the latest version of the page Web of Toshiba.

Also, you should read the "Driver Update Information for Windows XP with Service Pack 2" which you can also download on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Go to support and download and choose your machine!

  • Spectrum x 360: screen goes black randomly when on battery and some energy-saving options enabled

    Hello everyone,

I bought this fantastic machine called spectrum x 360 and I love it.

Unfortunately since the early days I'm facing what I think it's a problem of driver/software (not the related material).

This problem only occurs when I'm on Windows, not in the bios or at the startup. JUST IN Windows envinroment, especially after the login, and when the computer was turned off. Sometimes when I use it after a while, randomly.
This occurs only when the spectrum is on battery. The problem does not appear on AC adapter.

Problem: the screen goes black randomly for a few seconds and then reappear, sometimes the entire image on the right slide and there is a part that looks like yellow and corrupt, then goes black and reappears.

Windows Version: I'm on Windows Home 64 bit, build 14393.321 10 (update of the anniversary).

The entire screen works fine for normal operations, no artifacts.

    Replication of the problem
Initially, I was able to reproduce the problem with the driver build 4360 (which is the version of the driver from the HP site). Whenever I loaded the home page of youtube and the banner has started playing on the screen went black sistematicly.
Then I updated the GPU driver through the Device Manager, which has improved my GPU driver to 21.20.16.4494, as of July 25, 2016 and the problem happens much more rarely.
Now I am facing this problem again but Edge works correctly and is not the cause of the problem, it can appear even when I don't do anything with the PC.

I noticed this problem appears when saving options are enabled for the Intel GPU (I'm trying to translate this to English because the GPU driver Panel is in Italian):

    -update panel houses;
    -advanced mode; energy saving

If I disable these options, the problem does not appear or, better, for I've tested so far, he could not displayed when options are not in market, but I have not tested this very long to be sure.

In my opinion, there is a bug in the display driver, or some customizations made by HP causes problems with the driver.
The rest of the computer works correctly.
Any idea to solve this problem? Or should I keep these options turned off power saving?

    Hi, thanks for your help.

I have a passion for COMPUTING and ex-computer SCIENTIST, I am familiar in surveys on hardware/software questions and hope that this post will help some users get rid of this problem.
Black screens and screen corruption has been issued by the option called "auto refresh Panel" energy saving.
I did a lot of hours on battery (condition where this pop ups problem) in these days and the problem didn't show when it was turned off.
To verify that I tried to activate "Panel options self-identity" in certain occasions and, at random, on the first boot of the machine (after being turned off) the problem arises again.
It certainly is a problem with this energy-saving option.
    Now everything works fine.
If the problem appears again, I will post more information.
    Thank you for your support.

I think it would be useful to stick this post on top in this section of the forum, to be useful to other users and being more visible.

    Hello

First of all, you need to install the Chipset utility. Follow this link.

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=it

Once empty it first developed for laptop. Then Tecra. Tecra S series, then S1. Then XP operating system. Then click on search. Once this happens find the chipset utility and install it. Then, you can install any other drivers you need well enough in any order you want. But you must first install the Chipset utility. I hope this helps you and solve you this problem. Good day!

  • My screen saver does not work all the time, usually this seems to happen once the aircraft stopped in the energy saving mode.

Original title: my screensaver does not work all the time

My screen saver does not work all the time.  First time I have turn on computer, it works OK.  Later in the day, this isn't.  Usually, this seems to happen once the aircraft stopped in the energy saving mode.  After the reactivation of the computer (do not), the screen saver does not work when it should. How to run all the time?  I am running Kapersky Internet Security 2011.  This would be closed by the screen saver?
    Thanks, Garybuyit

    Hi garybuyit,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft answers Forums.

Just so I'm clear, updated you the graphics cards in Device Manager? You have access to a Windows XP installation disc. If so, follow the steps in this document to make a scan of the SFC. This analysis will attempt to repair or replace any missing or corrupted system files.

  • my computer keeps going to energy saving mode and TIME off

each time my computer shuts down I have to turn power on wall to restart it and itgives me 10 minutes and will return to the mode and towers out of energy saving

Why do you think a problem as it is related to Firefox?

    Hello

Power saver right for your laptop model Toshiba, you will find under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp
    We support page.

In any case, the experience can say that you will not be able to resolve this problem if you install from there energy-saving. I had similar problem two years ago. Nothing helps. At the end I ve installed OS using recovery media delivered.

  • Energy saving and its fall to stop AGAIN!

    Hello

My topic was blocked for unexplained reasons. It seems that many other people in this forum and I begin to doubt the quality of your support department. :(

Here is the link to my (mrbyte) topic:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1976&TSTART=30

My question was energy saving crashing to the stage of the stop. I did not help so far. and no update driver since October 2004! my laptop model is relatively new (bought last August):

    Satellite Pro M30:Centrino / 1.7 GHz/15.4 "TFT-W/60 GB / 256 + 256 MB/DVD-S-MULTI/LAN/Wi-Fi/i.LINK"

Please... I would appreciate if you could at least ensure that me and other users concerned that another version of the driver for standby power is soon to be released!

It isn't really the laptop cheaper that I bought, nor it is old. and there certainly should be according to the level of technical support service!

    looking forward to your reply,

    Andrew

    Hi again Andrew!

I think that this last topic was perhaps a bit too long and difficult to understand and that of why it was closed, but the discussion can continue in this topic. I think that it shouldn't be a problem and I would like to discuss more common subject of Eve, but all first I would ask you to do two things.

First don t always just copy my words because it simply turns into a lot of text with no beginning and no end and it s too long. I would like that discuss you to accept the other view s of people so mine I have calmly without frustrated because no one is forcing a solution his individual views. It is entirely at you if you want to change something or not.

It's a good thing that you are a programmer because thanks to this line of work, you get more information about issues that occur when you have conflicts between the programs.

I have two laptops Toshiba that I use for work and private home. After our last discussion, I have examined carefully the features of saving on both of my books. There are two totally different versions and they both work great on AC or batteries.

In my opinion, it is the cause of your problem is a conflict and that that of why energy saver cannot end process. I believe that after years of practice in collaboration with computers as you know sometimes BONE without apparent reason starts to behave differently and that, in these cases, the best thing to do is just reinstall OS around and set it up. To avoid these problems, what I do is to make the image of my system using Ghost application.

Please accept that in your case it is not an error in energy saving because if it was you would experience difficulties with him from the beginning. If it was a mistake that occurs to a few thousand users, that would be a serious mistake, and it would be possible to update from the web.

I don t want to talk you to do things, but the best option would be to backup your data and reinstall the OS using the recovery CD. I'm sure that after doing so, you will have no more problems. Then, you install the programs you need and use and configure the operating system to meet your needs.

Sorry if I said just a little too but I would really like solve you that problem and enjoy using your M30 SP.
