No upgrade makes no difference. The accident occurred at least 12 times and in fact occurs regardless of what (if any) the settings change when I change the scan tasks. The problem seems to be just with the tasks scan editing interface.

  I just want you to know that HP has released a software patch that fixes the problem with the HP utility crashing. You can find it here: critical update to correct scanning to problem on Mac OS X v10.7

  Please note that it will update your application from HP with a new layout as well.

  I'm running an Insipron 700 m with Windows XP SP3. If it helps, the Audio interface / Midi is a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R.

  My guess is that I have to disable Speedstep. But my BIOS does not have this option. Is there an option to change my IRQ, a separate but related matter. I tried to upgrade (flash) BIOS that Dell offers on its site, but I must have version cureent th because nothing has changed.

  If someone could help understand me how to turn off Speedstep in BIOS or change the IRQ of the external devices on my system, I'll ask them to marry me... uh, or not. I'll be super happy however. Thank you!

  Use the F2 key to enter the BIOS settings and change the order of boot devices. This option is under the STARTUP tab. Otherwise, you can insert the recovery CD when the unit is turned OFF. Turn it on and immediately press the C button. keep it down for a few seconds and unit is forced from the CD/DVD drive.
