Tecra S1: OS cannot recognize the CD Rom after hibernation or standby

Hello world
I have a problem with my laptop Tecra S1 and the operating system Windows XP Professional. My laptop can not recognize the CD ROM drive after hibernation modes or in sleep. And when I checked the status of the device, he told me this message "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38) ». I tried to uninstall the driver and install it again, but it did not help. And if I restart the computer then the problem is solved but y at - it someone knows how to fix this problem without having to restart the laptop?

Thank you very much

    For me it s case.
I would say that the BIOS can't handle the new player properly because of the wrong master/slave/c-salt settings
Readers slim for computers laptops support setting master/slave/c-salt settings and these settings can only be changed by changing the rider as on desktop drives.
So it is very important that you purchase a compatible player and supported because disks with incorrect settings will not work.

Before buying a car, you should ask the service provider to Toshiba for a caught player supported and compatible

  • My Satellite A300 cannot recognize the buttons at the top of the page

I + re-inistalled windows vista and installed everything. They work fine except the buttons that are located above the keyboard. I know that I can verify their status in all programs > Toshiba > utilities > Toshiba Assist, but the problem is that the my notebook cannot recognize the buttons.

If this isn't the case, you must download and install the Package of added value, which can be downloaded from the Web from Toshiba site in the section support/drivers.

  • If I enable security on an ad hoc network, my Windows 7 client cannot recognize the network at all.

XP host and client windows 7 on ad - hoc network...
Dear friends, I have set up an ad hoc network between two laptops. The host is running on xp sp3 and the client is running windows 7.
Now the problem is that if I enable security on the network, the client windows 7 cannot recognize the network at all.
If I turn off security on the network ad-hoc, everything works fine and I can share files and access the internet on client... Please help

    Ok

Now, I'm pretty sure that I understand your game up. Well done to get the internet connection, sharing of work (not a simple process) but without encryption.

I am sure that the problem lies in the Windows 7 laptop (laptop 2). When you switch cell 1 to WEP, you must also pass portable 2 to WEP and provide the WEP key you have configured with laptop 1.

It's getting late here now, but I'll try to answer tomorrow after I have test it on my two laptops to Windows 7. In the meantime maybe I can point you in the right direction...

    • Right-click the the small icon at the bottom right of your screen on laptop network 2 and then click on Open Network and Sharing Center
    • In network and sharing Center, click on manage networks wireless (nearby at the top left)
    • Click Add, and follow the wizard to create an ad hoc network, selecting WEP and providing the encryption key you configured on the notebook 1
    • Save the network so that you do not have to repeat this procedure.

Otherwise, when you get to manage wireless networks, if your ad hoc network is already listed...

    • Right-click in your ad hoc network, and then click Properties
    • Click the Security tab
    • Change it to WEP and provide the encryption key
    • Click OK

Good luck, I will pick up this new after my drowsiness.

  • System gives a code 19 because it cannot recognize the F: of CD/DVD-ROM drive

The device is a USB device. Never had this problem before. At the unit for a year, that it is a USB CD/DVD drive. It can be used, however, to initiate the computer... but that's all, the registry does not recognize the drive. BTW, same problem for D: drive CD - RW internal drive that does not work.

The Microsoft FIX - IT tool did not repair the registry.

The case is solved after you download the file cdgone.zip. I enabled both decompressed files and they corrected the registry.

My feeling is that the problem was caused by not using only when not "Remove hardware" tool to stop the USB CD/DVD drive. Never had this problem with the registry before, but one day, I paid the price.

  • Update of the question on Satellite Pro L40 - 15A - old BIOS BIOS cannot recognize the EEPROM

    Hello

    I can't Flash my bios.
    I have a Satellite Pro L40 - 15A.

The Toshiba winflash tool provided with the bios file tells me as the "old BIOS cannot recognize EEPROM.

I was recommended to use AFUDOS on another forum, but telling me that the bios has a boot not block valid.

Flas for back FRIEND tells me that the flash rom is write-protected? There is no option in the bios to disable and I don't think that anyone would be stupid enough to put a hardware Bios protect jumper on a laptop.

    Help, please

    THX

    Dear Bruce

Can you please tell me what you want to do and explain us it please your steps to update the BIOS of your laptop Satellite Pro?

I did the update of BIOS more than 20 times in the last month and I really wonder what you mean with terms such as EEPROM or AFUDOS. What BIOS update version that you want to use? I assume as 5.10. Am I wrong?

  • Tecra P4 not to recognize the new HARD drive

    Hi all

I have a Tecra P4 - PTS40A-02100V, which does not recognize the new drive of 80 GB Hitachi (HTS541080G9SA00). The laptop is out of warranty and replacement drive was purchased. This is the second new floppy disk that the supplier sent me. The provider is an official supplier of Toshiba in Australia. Customer paid ~ $400AUD to the drive, if that could be a costly exercise.

I am able to get a vanilla Toshiba restore to work on the PC, but our organization uses WinPE based boot environment PXE for the kickoff of image and the version of Windows XP. It is not possible to use a generic Windows XP in our environment.

DiskPart in WinPE will not recognize the disc. Partition Magic and other popular applications will recognize the disc, others not. I can create an NTFS partition and format. Can create basic MBR and MFT, no chance to recognize. Also, I can use the drive in a caddy USB Windows XP on another end PC.

This new drive appear the same questions in a known working P4. I don't see any option in the BIOS to work around the problem. I updated the BIOS to v3.20, but the result is the same.

    Clues?

    Hey Buddy,

Just to test: is it possible to install Windows from the Toshiba Recovery disk? Have you tested this?

And interesting to know what the authorized service provider said of this behaviour. Did you already ask guys?

  • Tecra 8000 does not recognize the new HARD drive

I read on this forum and Google search, but nothing helped.

I think the disk on Tecra 8000 (Pentium II, 266 Mhz) is "dead".
I tried to replace it with another laptop to see if that would work.

The laptop does not, even if I put just like the original.
Y at - it somehow special or what I have to change something in the Bios?

    Hello

Don t need to change BIOS settings

As long as you use the compatible HARD disk, the BIOS should recognize the HARD drive automatically without big problems
What drive did you use? What size, interface, etc.

The Tecra 8000 is an oldie and I think that you could use only the 4 GB; 6 GB; 9 GB; 10 GB; 14GB IDE hard drives.

More large hard disks would be not recognized by the BIOS.

  • Tecra 8200 does not recognize the RAM in Slot B

Since a few days my Tecra does not recognize the RAM Module in Slot B. Before everything was fine. I have 2x256MB Modules. I was wondering why my Tecra becomes slower, the last days, and then I saw that I have now only 256 MB of RAM. I have change the slot Modules A to B. I checked also the two modules of RAM with MEMCheck. Both are ok! Just at the moment where I put a RAM for Slot B and none in slot A my Tecra won't start! If I insert the two module my Tecra boots but with just 256 MB of RAM.

Is there another solution then buying a new laptop? Is my Mainbord damaged?

I was so contently with my Tecra ;-) so far

The slot B is probably defective. Only solution for me is to buy compatible 512 MB module and use it in A slot. According to specification for laptop, your device can handle with max 512 MB of RAM.

    Tecra M9, Windows XP

No idea how to get the card to work with this card reader?

    Hello

    I have an idea.
I think that the SDHC 4 GB card is not recognized because a Microsoft patch is not installed on your XP operating system.

Microsoft has released this document which should help you to solve this problem:
