Tecra S3: Installation of Vista does not recognize the HARD drive

I try to install Vista Ultimate on my Tecra S3, but installation does not recognize the HARD drive.

I tried to find the driver for Vista for my computer, but not found RAID.
Tried it with XP drivers, but no longer works.

Do you have an idea where I can download Vista drivers for RAID?

THX

Hello

Your suggestion is good. The Tecra S3 supports the RAID, and the RAID driver is required to install the OS on the HARD drive.
On the European driver Toshiba page I found a RAID for XP driver.

I put t know if this driver will run under Vista, but I recommend to test.
The RAID XP 1.3.8.0 driver version can be downloaded from this site:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

Please note; You can store the RAID driver on an external USB and Vista should recognize it!

Good luck

OK, I have spent the last 5 days or more trying and do not install vista on the laptop miserable with no chance and ive finally succumb to ask for help here.

Does anyone know what driver I need to use to allow Vista to recognize the SATA drive? I got some drivers download Toshiba chipsets article section and put it on a USB key, but they do not work. I get the message "Windows cannot locate the disk media to install windows" or a similar message. If I load all the drivers, then its just total failure - Windows installation procedure says that it cannot find the target medium or such a message. He develops files, loads the files and then stops and gives this message. There are all sorts of other stupid messages that would normally make me want to take the / offending laptop and throw it out the window. Needless to say, has not yet happened.

Also does computer some odd scratching / clicking noises during installation - it seems to come under the laptop - looks like it's either a problem with the hard drive or DVD drive, or both. I get up then a blue "Material error" message screen of death

You can install windows without use drivers SATA.
Access the BIOS and set the SATA from AHCI compatible mode mode.
This should allow to install the OS

  • Qosmio F30 - 112 - Windows XP does not recognize the HARD drive

    Hello.

    I have a Qosmio F30-112.
I tried to install the Windows XP Professional instead of the Media Center edition.
However, during the execution of the installer, my laptop does not recognize the hard drive. Therefore, the installation cannot continue.

I thought it might be a problem of corruption with my laptop and reinstalled Media Center Edition successfully.
But when I try to install XP Professional it always gives me the same error.

Suggestions for the configuration of the BIOS or solutions for why this is happening?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    Just a question:
You are looking for in this forum for other similar issues with regard to the installation of Win XP and lack HARD drive? I doubt

The fact is that your notebook has a SATA controller and you need a SATA (Intel Matrix Storage Manager) driver.

You should have a look here in this doc from Toshiba:

    Hello

Maybe you did not use good SATA driver?  :| Who knows
The point is that there are two different versions of Intel Matrix Storage Manager supports different chipsets.
I put t know what chipset is in charge of your laptop but you should check this and must also check the description of the Intel Storage Manager and check what chipsets are supported.

From your post, I guess that the configuration of the system now recognizes the hard drive?

If you do not have a floppy drive, then BIOS can find the player who isn't there, it returns this error.

Make sure that the floppy drive [drive A] is disabled in the [BIOS] installation system, page 173, so that it is no longer looking for the disc and see if this stops the error message.

If the hard drive is recognized in the configuration of the system, he now knows in windows "My computer" or in "disk management, [right click on 'My computer' and select 'Manage', then disk management]."

I have a Satellite A30 (PSA30E) and I start the computer. When I enter the BIOS it does not recognize the hard drive.
Does anyone no what I can do?
Is it possible to restore the BIOS?

    Thank you

    Hello

You replaced the HARD drive by a new one or the BIOS don't recognize the old HDD?

Usually if the laptop is not able to start and that the BIOS does not see the old HDD then I guess that the HARD drive is faulty.
If the BIOS doesn't recognize the inserted new HARD drive and then either you ve bought is not compatible, or the size of the HARD drive is just too big.

Please provide more info. You see error messages?

  • NSLU2 does not recognize the hard drive

    Hello

    I have a NSLU2 on Win XP SP3.

It does not recognize the USB drives, he wrote that 'drive not formatted '. It only recognizes the USB key as "disk2".

    Current firmware is V2.3R29.

When I try to update the firmware, the "not enough disk space" message.

I tried the same disc on a different NSLU2 and it worked fine.

What can I do my NSLU2 reading displays the disc correctly?

Thank you very much for your help!

    Markus

It seems to be a firmware issue... The V2.3R29 firmware. is quite old. The latest firmware is Ver.2.3R63... Hard reset the NSLU2, power cycle it and then try to update the firmware. After upgrading the firmware, reset it again and reconfigure... Disconnect the HARD drive before upgrading.

  • Vista does not recognize external hard drive (LONG!)

I bought a Terrabite Cavalry USB Mass Storage 1 unit some time around January 2009. We used it to back up my computers portable wife and daughters without any problems (it was Windows XP a Windows Vista). Shortly after, we have tried to back up my desktop computer, also running Windows Vista, but my computer does not recognize the drive into any USB port. After this attempt, we get is more willing to work on any computer. We contacted the cavalry and they replaced the drive, but we lost a lot of data since most of the files saved on my wife and daughter desktops have been deleted to clean up their hard drives.
When I received the spare drive I backed up my computer with no problems.

We moved from NC to PA in August of last year and had packed the new car. Recently, we unpacked and used to transfer ALL the photos of my wife, numbering several hundred, again with no problems. In addition, she has saved his computer using the Vista utility. Today, I made the horrible mistake of trying to back up my computer using the same player. I had completely forgotten the previous question. Yet once, my computer did not recognize the drive, any USB port used or on the tabs 'computer '. When the drive is plugged in and turned on, it will be not even allow us to display the elements on the tab 'computer '.

And now, just as before, the player no longer works on my wife's computer either. THIS IS AN ESSENTIAL QUESTION! If we cannot access the drive over 500 photos of our family, covering more than 5 years are lost forever!

Although I've read similar questions on this site (especially in regards to Windows XP) I can't find the one that is exactly the same problem as this.
There is nothing wrong with my computer. Each USB port works fine. I tried other USB devices with no problems of any kind.

On both computers, if you connect the external drive and the power up it starts with a light blue on the front as it is supposed to. He then became red and Windows makes the normal audio alert, as it does with any USB device plugged. On the bar, the new icon 'Remove hardware safely', says but clicking on that alone causes the computer to get ung place intil the drive is unplugged. The same is tru if we try to access the tab "Computer" in the Start Menu. The computer attempts to load the itms 'Computer' but never the completion of the task. THE TWO COMPUTER DO EXACTLY THE SAME THING! My wife uses a Dell with Vista Home Premium and I use an EMachine with Vista Home Basic. And this issue seems to happen only after using his computer to mine, not the other way around because I had done a backup on thise drive when I got last year and she just did a new now on his own.
I wrote to the Cavalry, but received no response. They said the last time that they aren't able to recover lost data, and it is said that all over their site.
The external drive is a cavalry model # CAXP3701PA.
Someone please help! Pictures of our last five years (including photos of my wife of his precious Golden Retriever from puppy to now) are lost if we cannot solve this problem. It seems that the player works well, but something corrupting of the software driver. We tried again to my wife's computer o and it begins with "Download driver software for device" but then what I described before using it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Put the disc in a real store of the computer (not the leeks and the glances at a Best Buy or other stores)
and they can remove the drive from the case and put it in another computer to back up data
to other media. Of course this cancels any warranty and may not work if the drive has probably
in fact failed. Data can often be recovered since a failed drive while it's expensive.

(The drive could be put in either your PC as a 2nd drive).

    I hope this helps.

  • Replacing the hard drive T60 - Windows does not recognize the hard drive

Hello all, new to the community of Lenovo. I have a T60, but also the latest Lenovo Edge. HD crashed on the T60 and it will boot is no longer. I just bought a 500 GB WD without doing a lot of research. When trying to install Windows 7 (I had already updated the T60) it will not recognize the new drive - Windows does not drive at all. Is there a way to get the Lenovo to recognize the WD drive? Thanks in advance for any help.

Looks like you're doing something wrong, if the drive is a SATA it should work, install it and boot from your windows installation DVD and it will be the installation drive and shaped for you, or you can optionally set the partitions manually when you are prompted to do so. If you try to do something unusual such as transfer windows on the old drive then you will need to explain exactly what you did because I see no reason it should not work. Infact I did it several times myself.

You boot from the disk and choose "Try without Unbuntu and change to your computer"?. Honestly, it looks that you have installed. In addition, using raid with Windows Xp support?

If you have chosen to 'Try' Unbuntu I recommend now you run chkdsk /r from the recovery console. The problem is not with the hard drive probably, but with the file system.

Download WIndows Xp Recovery Console from HERE. Save the file to your desktop. You will need to burn the iso image to a blank cd using the same way you did to the image ISO of Unbuntu ImgBurn. Although the instructions below refer to a Windows disk, the disk from the Recovery Console that you create will do the same.

    1. Insert the Windows XP CD in your CD-ROM drive and restart your computer. If you are prompted, select any options needed to start (boot) on the CD.

    2. when the text portion of Setup begins, follow the prompts. Select the repair or recovery option by pressing R.

    3. If you have a dual-boot or multiboot system, select the installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.

    4. When you are prompted, type the administrator password. If you have not set a password for the account admin simply press on enter

    5. at the command prompt, type chkdsk/r > press ENTER. (Note: there is a space between the slash and the letter k).

    6. at the end of the output of scan type > press ENTER.

    7 restart your computer.

  • Tecra S3 RAID-0, the Linux installer does not recognize the hard drive

    Hello

I've been googleling much and the only one I found is a post on this forum: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=8758

I have the same problem, the RAID controller is not recognized by one of the distributions of linux in circulation, and so the hard drive is not recognized, so the linux installation is not possible. I tried FC7 and SUSE9. Due to the demands of work, I need to install FC7.

If there is no driver available for linux, it is possible to disable the RAID controller on the laptop? If so, is that someone could put a guide of how do, or send me to a good link on the subject?

    Thank you
    Alex

You will be very happy if someone with S3 and Linux will write here. Until you wait for the check you must fill the pages of Linux support:

    Thanks if anyone can help

    Hello

The problem is that your laptop supports the SATA HDD controller but the system OS does not contain the SATA drivers
You can assign in the compatible SATA mode BIOS.
This allows you to install the operating system without installation of the SATA drivers.

    Hello amfisher,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

If I understand correctly, you are unable to see your new external drive to an iMac 2009.  I'll be happy to try to help with this.

So that your iMac to see it, it may be necessary to reformat the drive. The best format for use with your Mac's OS X Extended (journaled).

Format an external hard drive for use with a Mac

    1. Connect the hard drive to a USB port on your Mac.
    2. Open disk utility.
    3. On the left side of the disk utility window, select your external drive (or one of its partitions).
    4. Click the delete or delete button on the toolbar.
    5. On the Format menu, choose Mac OS extended (journaled).
    6. Type a name for your drive, and then click clear.
    7. After that the drive is deleted, close the disk utility window.

This should allow you to copy files to the disc.

Your computer has software called Time Machine.  It is a fantastic software for backing up your computer.  Information on how to use Time Machine is available here:

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac.
