Tecra S3 - Windows 2000 hangs on reboot

Hi all

I have a Tecra S3 dual boot Windows XP and 2000, with the correct RAID driver installed for each of them.

In Windows 2000, it hangs for a reset. It is necessary feed the computer works in order to complete the reset.

This problem does not occur in Windows XP and BACK. Is there someone else by using Windows 2000 with this model?

Thank you

Rubens

Hello

Well, it's not easy to say why this problem occurs. I assume that you have installed the W2k since the original Windows CD. In this case, it is very important to install the driver Toshiba, tools and utilities in the correct order.
On the Toshiba download page I found a statement of installation for W2k. This list gives you a good driver installation information. Please see this document.

Good bye

  • Tecra M9 - Windows 2000 ACPI

I am trying to install Windows 2000 on a Tecra M9 (model PTM90).

I slipstreamed successfully Intel Matrix Storage Controller drivers in my Windows 2000 installation disc, but the Installer Blue-screens in trying to detect the ACPI BIOS. At this point, the stop message tells me I can start Windows installation and press F7 to avoid the ACPI control. I tried and managed to get Windows 2000 is installed, but power management has failed. The laptop detects even when he was running on battery - not very helpful!

I tried updating to the latest version of the BIOS (1.60), but Windows 2000 install always fails.

Moreover, most of the hardware works under Windows 2000, even if installers on the Toshiba site claim to be for XP.

Is anyone know how make ACPI work properly on this laptop under Windows 2000?

    Cheers, Giles.

    Hello

Uh, you're trying to install what? Why?

Why are you trying to install an NT-based OS that is as old as your machine, what is VISTA compatible (which doesn't mean you should install Vista :)))
Gets an old, incompatible and not supported operating system which makes the machine slow (because the socket driver is really not good) and does not work properly.

If you need advice: remove it and work with a newer operating system. And if you need the computer as a SERVER, use Linux. But avoid the Win2000. :)

    Welcome them

  • Windows 7 hangs after reboot (after "Sensor HP Mobile Data Protection" updated)

My Windows 7 Home Premium hangs (blue screen) to the 'Starting Windows' screen after reboot. And the reason for the rebate to zero (and crash) is updated to Windows "HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor" . I did hidden, but now I need to install drivers for my webcam and every time that I turn on "automatic driver installation" update of windows server, it installs not only the WebCam drivers, but also this «HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor» update Which brings me to the crash at the next restart of Windows. The only way is to return to the system restore point.

I use a laptop "HP Compaq 6715 b" . I had Vista prior to this (it was preinstalled with HP all the "stuff"), but after upgrade (reinstallation) of windows 7, upgrading from windows found all the drivers (and graphics and sound and even the biometric device drivers), but is now something wrong after every update "HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor" . Why? Or at least I can make him 'banned '?

P.S. I had and have the 32-bit version of Windows.

    ny6uctblu,
Have you checked with HP on any problems with this software?  Here is a link for download of HP for the software.  You should also check that your BIOS is up to date.  I found some info on a wire of HP on the Data Protection sensor Mobile works is not propely.  This thread can also give you some other ideas.

  • Windows 7 hangs after reboot

After that windows 7 attempted a system update hangs on the failure of configuration updates Windows - coming back from changes.  After hours of waiting, it remains the same.  I tried a hard reboot and selected "start in safe mode" and 'start in last good configuration' and 'debug mode' and in all cases, the system goes right back to the "failure configuration Windows...» "How can I leave it this loop?

Restore to an earlier date that the latest updates have been made.  Use the system restore.

Next, we need to prepare your system to properly manage the Windows updates.  It will take a long time (like a day or more), but in almost all cases, this becomes Windows Update on track.

    1. Download and run the appropriate version for your system KB947821 update readiness tool system.  https://support.Microsoft.com/en-CA/KB/947821 32-bit systems X 86.  X 64 64-bit systems.  This is likely to take some time (may be several hours) because it makes all kinds of resets.
    2. Download KB3102810 directly from the Microsoft web site and install it.   https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3102810 32-bit systems X 86.  X 64 64-bit systems.

Now restart Windows Update.  Do NOT restart Windows.   Be very, very sick, it will probably take a while.  Recently, the whole process took 24 hours or more time elapsed in my work on my client computers.

Now, your challenge is to be PATIENT.  This can take several hours.

    Tip:

    Restore points

The amount allocated to the point area by restoration by default in Windows 7 is 3% of the capacity of the disk.  In almost all cases, the computer uses but a small part of the available space.  This makes it very convenient to raise that 3% to say 8-10%.  This strategy will give a lot more restore points that will give you much more flexibility to recover a bad situation.

To change the award, type create in the text box above the start planet.  Select create a restore point.  Click set up.  Move the slider to the right as you see fit.  Definition it to 50 gigabytes will have no effect if you have a 500 GB drive and use only about 100 or so, which is very typical.

  • Tecra M2 mapping of the keyboard in Windows 2000

    Hi all

I have a Tecra M2 on which the WinXP was removed and replaced by a new installation of Windows 2000 SP4 (I prefer not to go into detail as to why this took place).

My problem is that the keyboard mapping is not correct under Win2000, for example if I press shift + 2 I get a @ and not a '. '. The problem exists with almost all the characters of Maj (' |,-,', ~,', ', @, #, etc..).

Note that I don't use any software that remaps the keyboard.

Does anyone know how this bee fixed?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

I have the same problem on my laptop, but I don't have time to look at the problem until I saw this ad...

Here is the answer for Windows XP, I guess it's the same for Windows 2000, because the systems are similar.

Under start/setting/control panel, you will find the icon "regional and Language Options". Double click it and you get a new window. Select the folder "Language" then "Details". A new Windows pop up and from there you can select 'Add' services 'install '. Select your language to enter the menu drop-down, then click on 'OK '. Ensure that the value "default input language" is correct, then click 'OK' and click on 'OK '.

Normally, the operating system needs to restart to set the hardware!

Your keyboard should work correctly after the next system startup.

Let me know if it works for you

  • Tecra S1 under Windows 2000 Professional external display problem

As I can't answer in the original thread (1831), because it is locked, I put here my answer to the answer of the Quad.

Quad first wanted to know if we have installed the Tecra S1 on a recovery CD.

No, we do not have. We have created an image that consists of an unattended installation. It is installed from a Windows 2000 RIS server.

Quad also said that the Fn + F5 is enabled after the installation of the utility Hotkey for display devices.

We downloaded the hotkey utility, but when we tried to install it we got the error message you "Driver not found" and suspended installation. We have installed as a user with administrator privileges.

We do something wrong, or this utility owes something to be installed as well?

    Kind regards
    Harro Hofman
    Material specialist

    The Netherlands.

    Hi again Mr. Hofman,

First of all I must tell you that this is a typical problem. AFAIK Tecra S1 comes with the Professional Windows XP Home edition and optionally with W2000 professional. This two OS has been tested and Toshiba offers all drivers and tools to Toshiba download website.

It will be interesting how you created this image. What was the basis for this image? You are installed to the first completely Tecra and after created image?

Have you had problems before the creation of the image?

  • Tecra 8200 - works very well under Windows 98SE, but not on Windows 2000

    Hello

I've updated my Tecra 8200 for Windows 98SE and Windows 2000.
Windows 98SE, wireless connection works very well and I was able to access the internet through my SMC Barricade router.
But on Windows 2000, this no longer works.
The connection to the router is ok, but I am unable to connect to the internet or to the page web administration of the router.
The Toshiba Wireless Client Manager provides the following information:
    Status:
    ------
    Connected to the network: SMC
    Connection: Excellent
    Access Point name:
    Channels: 2
    Encryption: on

    ----------- Warning ----------------
Impossible to communicate with the AP.
Please check the encryption and IRQ.

Yet once, I insist on the fact that under Windows 98SE, everything worked well... an hour ago...

I am running Windows 2000 SP4 with the latest updates.
    Could someone help?

    Thank you

  • Tecra M2V crashes during the Windows 2000 format

I'm working on the installation of Windows 2000 for a laptop Tecra M2V in my school. The installation process crashes when the disk has reached 6% format. It is always in the same place that the deadlock occurs. Is there a way to get around this, or can I change a setting in the bios Setup? Any help appreciated.

    Hello

Not easy to say what can be the problem, but if the formatting process always freezes at the same place I assume that there is a problem with the HARD drive sector faulty or bad. I recommend you to check the HARD drive using a tool. Google a bit and you will find many tools for free.

  • SAM Broadcaster hangs on virtual Windows 2000

We have installed Windows 2000 Pro SP 4 on Vmware server 1.9.

On the Windows platform, we have installed Sam Broadcaster, the most recent version.

Radio streaming runns loves normally and as scheduled, but the stream before he died. Speed is set at 192 kbit/s using MP3 encoder.

After the death of stream have the virtual processor Windows 2000 load increases to 100 percent ant the virtual Windows 2000 is suspended.

It is written in the journal of the Sam Broadcaster: Encoder1 cannot send data fast enough. Encoding paused until the buffer clears...

I tried to adjust the output of the Sam Broadcaster buffer, but this did not help.

The adapter netvork virtual virtual Windows 2000 runs in nat mode.

Hollow of reading connects to the host Centos 5.3 system and virtual Win 2000 installation gives all the answers.

It is my impression that it could be something on the nat virtual server's network Vmware dangling.

Is it possible to increase a buffer on the Vmware nat network, or to trobleshoot this point any further?

Another alternative idea I have is to try to upgrade the 1.9 Vmware newest version 2.x, to see if this will clear the problem.

Could I can still use the existing Virtual Windows 2000 installation, or will an upgrade to Vmware server 2.x require

    new installations of virtual machines?

I would be grateful for any ideas or advice!

    **************

One thing that should also be mentined: The Sam Broadcaster is tranmitting to a Shoutcast server that runs directly on the host system.

If the stream is Shoutcast nat virtual server to a shoutcast server that is "internal data flow in virtual host".

We have also tried to move the Shotcast server from the host system to an another virtual Centos 5.3, but the result was the same.

All data flow that makes the virtual Windows 2000 to hang is data internal streams beween the virtual machine and the host system.

or between virtual machines. The material is new dual core with 8 GB of Ram running on the data center. All tests were made using the same

    Shoutast configuration file.

    Langbein wrote:

The idea of some nat tabel or fill buffer may be correct (?!)

Does anyone know how to change or adjust the size of this buffer?

I don't know how this SAM Broadcaster manages network traffic.

UDP is more likely. Maybe, it is not a kind of 'filler', but too much latency?

NAT's time consumption the host processor, and adds a few ms (check with ping). So this may be unsolvable for NAT. If its TCP instead of UDP, it can be solved by adjusting the RWIN and other TCP settings on the host and the guest.

    Hello

I studied a bit and it seems that this file should be placed in the system32 folder.
In my opinion, this file is part of Toshiba common modules.
I m not 100% sure, but you can try to refresh (restore) the common modules.

I noticed ribooth has also posted a message with the same problem... but I haven't seen a real answer. The problem: if I try to install Windows 2000 Professional (including SP2) on my satellite M30X-130. The windows 2000 Setup program crashes with a "page in a no fault paged area" in acpi.sys just at the moment where the status in the status bar has been changed from windows 2000. If I press F7 during startup, acpi support is disabled and no page error occurs but the windows 2000 installation hangs on "the first screen" where you should be able to start, stop and? installation. There is no additional hardware installed and I'm unable to partition and format the HD with W2k.
