Tecra Z50-A-181-built in microphone not working/not found
I recently bought for laptop Toshiba Tecra Z50-A-181 supplied with Windows 7 64 bit (have 8.1, too but never installed it).
Anyway, once I started using it, I discovered that the microphone is not functional or not recognized at all.
So, what happens is that, once that I plug my headphones into the audio handset Jack / micro, whoever I'm talking (on Skype, for example) to stop to hear me (and my camera is on).
I tried several things mentioned in other topics, however, the problem does not turn off. In addition, there is no driver for the camera or the bed at the microphone, or whatever.
In Device Manager there is no extra, unrecognized device and in sound recording options /, no other microphone to use appears.
I will appreciate if someone can help.
Thank you in advance!
You have a problem using an external microphone?
Your laptop is preinstalled with original image of recovery for all the necessary drivers must be installed.
You can use internal mic? It should be listed under recording devices.
I bought my ThinkPad Yoga 12 just a month ago, upgrades to Windows 10 after a few days. Everything worked well, including speakers and a microphone. Skype has worked well.
Yesterday, I tried to use Skype but my microphone does not work. I found that no microphone even was to be found in the settings.
Naturally, I reinstalled the audio driver. Now, there is at least one symbol "Built-in Microphone", but is not connected. Cannot be connected. Troubleshooting tells connect me and external microphone.
I did both disabled and disconnected devices visible in the menu.
Anyone knows what is the problem with my microphone and has an idea how to solve this problem?
Thank you very much!
PS: Send return is out of the question that I am currently working in Cambodia.
Hi ktb, welcome to the forum.
It seems that some MS Patch Tuesday 'Updated' your Win 10 install.

On a Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook, running Windows 7 ultimate (downgraded from Windows 8).
The system is not just see the microphones. On the windows volume control options/recording devices, nothing comes up. Even on Dell Audio / microphone and Skype microphone. Can any ideas on how I fix? I tried to download all the drivers on the DELL site using detection of automatic service tag and system DELL detect to find missing drivers, but some chipset drivers listed lead to a blank page without downloading anything.
Go back to the recording of the sound Properties tab (right click the audio icon, and select recording devices), and then click the blank white box, right-click and select devices see off, then do it again and select this option to show disconnected devices.
If the microphone shows always then go to the Read tab and see if the word 'Realtek' is under speakers. If this isn't the case, then the Realtek driver is not installed.
If the driver is there and is still no microphone so it could be faulty. The microphone was working at all with Win 8?
I have a laptop Samsung R710, who settled with Windows 7. The laptop came with a built-in webcam. I was not able to get a piece of software to recognize the camera. I did a system restore. Updated the drivers. Visited the Samsung website for updates. When I opened the Device Manager to see the drivers for the webcam, webcam not found in Device Manager.
Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, I must admit to thinking in the same direction you... buy a separate camera or wait until he is more under warranty and have a quick look at the wiring around the hinge.
Hi all!I'm having this problem since I installed Windows 7 on my Acer Aspire 5715z. Right after the installation of the internal microphone has stopped working. First I thought it would be a driver problem, but did not find the specific driver for windows 7 on the ACER Web page.I did fi the issue for a while now, but yesterday I re - install Windows 7 and the problem was still there.I decided today to find an answer to it. I saw that many users Acer have suffered.I went through the Panel--> sound--> recording--> see off / disconnected devices it does not work.I ran the windows troubleshooting and nothing happened.I went to the Device Manager and in his checked for changes on the hardware. The only item listed here is "high definition audio device" which according to me is not the microphone internal (I think this is supposed to be realtek?). In any case, I uninstall and reinstall and search for the latest drivers.I ran the microsoft fixit, but nothing is happening.I'm out of ideas. Any help would be most appreciated.Thank you very much
I could solve it by downloading and reinstalling the realtek drivershttp://www.Realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?langid=1&PNid=14&PFID=24&level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GETDOWN=falseThank you very much!see you soon
Hi, back for a while that I had to have it replaced my computer screen. After that it has been replaced, my webcam not working not. He said that there is no webcam. Before that the screen had to be replaced, it works beautifully. What could be the problem and how to fix this? Thank you for your help.
Please answer a few questions to refine the question.
1. What is the brand and model of the computer?
2. When you say "screen is replaced", hear you screen has replaced for a new one? What was the exact problem with the monitor?
3. what happens when you try to access with the Webcam software that came with the computer?
This problem normally occurs when there is no problem with the driver for the Webcam device software.
I suggest you follow the steps below to see if that helps.
Step 1: Find material webcamTake a quick moment to visually inspect the top of the screen of your computer. Look closely, you should see a small lens at the top in the Center, if your computer is equipped with a webcam. Some models do not come with a webcam and the area where the webcam would normally be resident is replaced by a small plastic cap.
Often, there are small holes near the top center of your screen. These holes are for the microphone or other sensors and do not contain any webcam.
- If your computer lacks a built-in webcam, you must use an external USB webcam.
- If your computer is equipped with a built-in webcam and you can't use it, go to step 2
Step 2: Find and use the Webcam software that came with your computer
Try to access the webcam that is preinstalled on your computer. If you can't find and open the webcam for your computer software, then go to the next step.If you have found the software of the webcam and it opens and you see a picture, then finished. Your webcam works. If you found webcam software and it opens, but you can't see the video in the main display window, restart the computer and try again. If the problem persists, use the troubleshooting section "video does not appear in the webcam software.Method 2:
If you are able to find the Webcam on your screen and you cannot view the video using the software installed, you may need to update the Webcam drivers for more later.Read the sections "If you have problems with your webcam' in the article and check the results.»

I recently got the computer and functioning perfectly, except the microphone does not work.
I checked the drivers, and I have 1 thing that says that we don't know. I looked at the list of drivers on the Toshiba site, and I don't see what it would be.
Sorry, but if you use the notebook with unknown device to factory settings can not be there.
Recovery image contains all the necessary drivers and by default the mic settings should work fine.
How you tested the mic feature?
By the way: what Satellite A350 exactly do you have? (A350-xxx)
I have a Tecra A9 PTS52A-OEYO3F
My operating system is XP Professional.
I'm trying to set up a Skype account without having to buy a plug in microphone. I think that my Tecra A9 has a built in microphone. When I test the equipment via the control panel / sounds and Audio devices / voice / hardware test, an error message indicates that my voice could not be detected. Also, a similar Skype test revealed that my voice could not be detected.
The user manual on page 4-23, under the heading level Microphone sets out the process to change the logging level. Step 1 requires a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar to reveal devices of recording on the submenu. When I perform the right click of the "speaker" of the menu has revealed icon includes "Open Volume Control" and "Adjust Audio properties". There is no option of "Recording devices" where only the instructions in the manual do not apply.
I'm not convinced that I have a microphone, and if I do then why it is not working.
If your Tecra has a build-in webcam so he must have mic too.
Are you using the original recovery image Toshiba WXP or you have installed Windows XP Home edition on your own?
I got my satellite L300D (model # PSLC8C-06100F) on a year ago, and when I got to use Skype, he couldn't find a microphone.
I assumed that, unlike my previous satellite the L300D just didn't come with a built-in microphone.
However, a few weeks ago, I was on Skype and having problems with the headset I had plugged, and when I unplugged it I suddenly had great sound that passes through the built-in mic, I thought wasn't there!
The problem is that I couldn't to find much - not to mention make it work again - since once.
What happens here?
I obviously HAVE a built-in microphone, but my computer or Skype can seem to find.
If anyone can help out me on this, I would be very grateful!
If your Satellite L300D takes in charge the internal webcam then the internal microphone should be available also.
Generally, the parameters of the internal microphone not found in the control panel-> sound-> the recording tab.
Please check the settings there
It would be also desirable to update the audio driver.
I bought an SSD OCZ Vertex 460 for Tecra Z50-A-180 but the system only started only not with this device.
BIOS detect SSD but not find any system start-up.
I cloned the old SSD HARD drive, but the system does not boot with SSD.
I installed the firmware 1.03 on OCZ.
I await response.
Thank you to
What program did you use to clone?
Maybe it's not compatible with the version of Windows.
If you load a new copy of Windows or Ubuntu on the SSD can it start?
I use TEMPRO to receive notifications on updates of driver for my Tecra Z50 - A (Windows 7-64 bit).
But every notification contains download links pointing to the file wrong driver.
For example, by using the following notification:
the driver which can be downloaded is over 1 year (http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-...0410120234.zip) and not as described in the notification.
Also note that the same problem going on research drivers directly from:
So for me there is no possibility of updating my laptop.
Thank you for your support.
See you soon.
Drivers using the following Toshiba official page cannot be downloaded because URL locates the old files:
Please fix the download links or offer another way to update.
I hope you could help me with this, but my valuable built-in microphone began omitting appr. A week ago. As I talk with someone, I'm able to hear her very clearly, but there unfortunately can't hear me at all!
I went to sound properties I've read a lot of articles how to solve this problem, installed the new audio driver, enabled etc, in fact I have almost tried everything, but it still does not. The audio driver is visible and updated day on my knees, but it does not sound vibration allocate!
Can you help me with this problem? Someone of you has suffered the same?
Thank you in advance!
See you soon,.
Right click on the speaker in the taskbar, ranging from recording devices, make sure that you only have one option of microphone, it would be the first step, if you got more than 1, try right click on them and "default setting" for each of them to see if it works.
Hope this helps,
We bought a lot of laptops Toshiba Tecra Z50 - A with a hybrid HDD (with SSD cache).
The exact model:
TECRA Z50 - A
We staged and repartition laptops via SCCM.
However, when you install all the drivers and the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software, I see that only rge WHAT HDD is used and no partition SSD with the Intel RST.
How we enable this?
The problem is that the performance is incredibly bad.
Laptops are very slow, even if the specifications are good:
8 GB RAM
Windows 7 x 64
No idea how to turn this Intel RST?
In the BIOS I find no option for RAID, as must be enabled for the RST to work.
To be honest I n don't know what you mean exactly the RAID mode. There is no RAID mode.
The laptop was equipped with a 500 GB SATA HDD HYBRID.
The part of the HARD drive is used for writing, the SSD part for the reading of the data.
The performance of SSHD can be placed between a HDD and SSD, but it s significantly slower than an SSD.
If you have already installed the - Intel Rapid Storage Manager driver, then the service should work
In the case where it does not run in the background, try to install the latest Intel RST page of Intel driver.
I just bought a TECRA Z50-A-12 X with HI-speed III 120 replicator Port Replicator.
It works but the computer is not stable and I fear that this will eventually damage the port see me problems when using.
Indeed, the PC sits well in the Replicator.
Is there a solution or did not have this app?
Thank you for your response.
Please don't get me wrong, but you should clarify this with Toshiba directly. Here on this forum, you can hear some useful opinions and comments, but I think you should get info straight from Toshiba directly.
You can also do is to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. You can visit ASP and demonstrate how it works and I hope that you will get a professional opinion on this problem.
Long ago I had a Tecra laptop with port replicator, and he was well in place and really does so port replicator he not there no danger of damage to the small port located in the lower corner.
I've got Tecra Z50 - A - 11 c and an external display connected to the VGA port.
I implemented the plan of power management to turn off the screen after 10 minutes.
The monitor turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
The problem is that is not wake the mouse or a key.
I have to restart the laptop to put the image on the external monitor.
The internal display works fine.
It seems to me like a BIOS problem, but I have the latest version of the BIOS.
What happens if you press the function key (Fn + F5) to change the display output? This combination activates the external monitor again?
Have you noticed the same problem using the hibernation, or "sleep" mode?
I m not very good if it really a laptop before issuing.
I mean the internal display still works fine and it would be advisable to check this problem using different external monitors.
By the way: the laptop supports Intel HD Graphics 4400. Try to install the latest Intel GPU driver:
