Temporary files of Time Machine

Had some problems with temporary files of Time Machine, which fills my boot drive with over 400 GB of files.

I tried the command "sudo tmutil local disable", restart the mac, and then the command 'sudo tmutil enablelocal' but nothing happened.

Then after trying more than those I lost the file '. '. MobileBackups' which I can't see from the finder by Go-> go to folder-> ".» MobileBackups"not through terminal.

I also launched the drive and the authorization of repairs without success.

How can I delete these files now?

Hello NowApple,

I understand that you are having problems with the removal of the Local snapshot that belongs to your time Machine upwards. It's something that you can get rid of by disabling Time Machine. When you turn that off, this disabled the Local Snapshot function and it is removed from your Mac. When you turn back the Time Machine, is activated again. Take a look at the information below for more details.

How can I manually copy the files?

    Do not restore complete.

You can 'enter Time Machine"to select files and folders to restore.

Alternately, when restoring from Time Machine backup, customize the restoration as follows: under Select the information to transfer, select only your previous user account. Do not select 'Applications', 'Computer and Network Settings' or "Other files and folders". Deselect these choices. Potentially corrupt applications, lists of properties and changes in the operating system will be migrated and will be any problem that may have been caused by them.

  • Impossible to restore a file from Time Machine

I messed up a data file and tried to restore from Time Machine. It produces the message "the operation cannot be performed because you have not granted access to the Finances of 2016 VDJS. I use an iMac 2009 beginning running OS 10.8.5. I checked permissions, and since I'm the only person using this computer all read - write permission. The version of the file I am trying to use to replace the messed up one was recorded only a few days ago and should have the same permissions. I apparently can't use disk utility to verify or repair permissions on the time Machine if the problem is with the saved file. I have another backup using DropBox, but I organized "intelligently" so that it records the changes made to the files they are saved on the computer, if the vehicle has currently the messed registered version. • Can I back up files with time machine iCloud. Seems not so, are there alternatives?

I want files on mac, in the clouds and on local separate media seems quite difficult to achieve for a sensible backup plan.

I looked for solutions and there are various tips on if time machine backup of documents Mobile ~/Library but I can access in time machine.

Presumably, someone has solved this problem - hopes!

If you have active disk iCloud it written copies of the files in the cloud on your local disk, these in turn are backed up by Time Machine, you don't need to do anything else to make it work.

If you need to access your documents using Time Machine backup do you via the Finder > iCloud drive and not in the hidden mobile documents folder.

  • Restore specific files of Time Machine on El Capitan

    Hello

I want to restore specific files from a Time Machine after then reinstalling OS.

In Time Machine that only highlight the buttons front and rear back 1 week and the sidebar, but it develops, is RED and is unclickable. I can find files by searching for them but I want to restore all of my documents and specific applications to try to remember all is not practical. The sidebar being red means it's inaccessible and if not, how can I access content on specific date, the function used to work in Yosemite and back ups I'm looking are El Capitan so don't know why I can't access it. Thank you.

Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.

If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.

The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.

The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.

Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.

The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.

Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.

Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.

  • How to clean the files of time machine restore after reinstall

Just did a wipe and reinstall on an iMac 2011 (10.8.5) mountain running Lion.

I don't want to do a full restore from Time Machine; I just want to take a few important files (cache profiles, e-mail, etc.). [Did the reinstall because my system was flawed and nothing else I did fix it.] [The story is here:beachball recurring in all applications in Lion, finally freezes iMac]

When I open Time Machine on my 'new' machine and turn it on, he says he has no previous backups, but begins to make its first backup in 120 seconds. There is no option to "enter" Time Machine and recover individual files.

I then turn off Time Machine because I'm afraid that it will make a new backup and erase / unrecoverable my previous backups.

The drive Time Machine target exists in disk utility. A 600 + files (backups, no doubt!) and verified without errors.

Before the clean and reinstall Time Machine worked perfectly. I have test-recovered some files and everything was good.

How do I introduce my iMac 'new' to my old backups Time Machine?

    Thank you

Use tmutil inheritbackup such as described by the end Pondini in his FAQ, here: http://pondini.org/TM/B6.html. Follow the instructions in the blue box, entitled "inherit a backup. The is short and simple but please follow carefully.

I believe that you won't always be able to restore individual files until that Time Machine backs up new, then let him. Once this is done, you will have access to your old backups.

Alternate procedure: since you can not keep this old backup after the restoration of the individual in any case files, you can hold a key option key while clicking the Time Machine in your Mac's menu bar. A option «Browse other backup disks...» ' will be displayed. What to choose.

  • Copy the old Time Machine files to the new disk TM

Sorry people, I have to ask two (related) questions:

    (1) I have a WD My Passport for Mac drive connected to an Airport Extreme and 2 Macs use for backup via Time Machine. Now, the disk is full. I bought a WD My Book for Mac drive with a capacity of 4 TB and am ready to go.

Question: can I copy the old files of Time Machine on my new book?

    (2) until now 2 different Macs used the My Passport as a Time Machine drive with no problems.

Question: Should I partition the new drive (My Book) and every Mac uses its own partition as Time Machine or can proceed us as is?

Thank you very much for your help!

Question: can I copy the old files of Time Machine on my new book?

Yes you can, but there is a lot of work, a little complicated, time consuming and not worth the effort for most users.  The main reasons for this are...

    (1) the older backups will take a good amount of space on the new drive, limiting the space on the disk again.

    (2) Time Machine backups for the old files will continue... it will make a new copy of every Mac and then go forward again with incremental backups.

A better plan would be to keep the old drive on hand for a few months, in which case you need to go back and look for a file. After a few months, you will have a beautiful story from backup to the new hard drive and no need of older backups so you can remove the old disk and keep around as a spare part or use it for other purposes.

Question: Should I partition the new drive (My Book) and every Mac uses its own partition as Time Machine or can proceed us as is?

While you can partition the drive and save each Mac to a separate partition if you wish, there is really no need to do this since Time Machine will automatically create separate for each Mac backup files.

  • Safari on Mac not save history after restoring from Time Machine

After doing a full restore on my Macbook Air of Time Machine, Safari is not displayed no browsing history, or he saves history after that I left Safari. I've restored the history file of Time Machine, but it does not, either. I'm not in private browsing mode. I also tried to erase the history, but it does not help.

    Any ideas?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It makes no changes to your data.

Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

    ls -@BOaen L*/Safari | pbcopy

Copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing the command-V key combination. I tested these instructions only with the Safari browser. If you use another browser, you may need to press the return key after pasting.

Wait for a new line ending with a dollar sign ($) below what you entered.

The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produces no output, the Clipboard is empty. Paste into a reply to this message.

The Terminal window does not display the output. Please do not copy from there.

  • Back to PDF save via Time Machine?

Is it possible to use Time Machine to recover a previous saved version of my PDF?

I have some PDF documents in my Dropbox that I highlight on my phone or my iPad and synchronize them (saving more of). Apparently, I downloaded an older version at some point and now one of the PDF files has lost a lot of my notes. I thought that my selection being on my time machine, maybe there is a way to go back to older versions of these files and see if I can return the PDF files before I replaced the.

However I do not know if you an extract PDF files inside time machine. Maybe you can see if the size of the file has changed, but because they are just highlights it is possible that the size of the file is the same. Also, I don't think that you can drag files from the machine of the time on your desktop and open them later. I don't want to get back the files without knowing what I'm going to come back. What is the best method to retrieve the file?

    Yes,

If files existed at a specific time go back to where they've been with TM and restore them. You can not 'visually' preview then until they are restored as far as I KNOW.

You can change the names of the current before do you if you don't want to overwrite or compare.

  • Backups Time Machine EXTREMELY slow

I have over 500 GB for backing up a Mac Book Pro 2.7 GHz, 16 GB of RAM.

When I connect the HD 1 TB in a single day does about 40 GB means that it will take several days making the first backup.

Not a problem if I do not need to use the computer.

But when I move, sometimes, the USB cable will move and the backup was interrupted and had to start again.

It will be very useful if I could to pause the backup, or I can do remotely by the USB port on the router, but mine is D Link.

I do the backup of an another Macbook that I won't touch these days, so I managed to connect one computer to another via Airdrop.

    Does anyone have another solution?

    Kind regards.

After a major update, as many files changed, Time Machine backup is indeed a lot of your time, although I've never known this measure more than one or two hours.

My suggestion would be to stop the backup, restart your Mac, and then manually call the ball upwards before you stop using your computer at night, make sure you leave your powered Mac of the day overnight.

  • Check airport Time Machine reports error

A version more recent version Time Capsule 7.7.3 running against my Mac 32 GB 27' end 2013 El Capitan 10.11.3 race.

The last 30 days has happened twice.  An error box appears to show "Time Machine has conducted an audit of your backups on 'Airport Tome Capsule' to improve reliability, Time Machine must create a new backup.'"

This happened about 30 days ago.  There are 1.2 to the remaining space.  The total size of the volume it's backup is about 350 GB.  I can go in a Time Machine and see some backups go back about 20 days or more.

Don't know what to check or do.

    Any advice?

    Thank you

    Scott

Unfortunately, your options are very limited:

    (1) not at all save and keep your old backups.

    (2) start backups again and the old one will be deleted.

The essential is that your entire backup file is damaged and utility disk on your Mac is unable to repair the file, so Time Machine a delete older backups and start a new backup.

Given that the same question has occurred recently as well, which could involve the Time Capsule disk has a defect that causes the corrupted files. I would recommend you ask Apple to replace the Capsule of time at this stage, because they offer no repairs on the Time Capsule.

  • Time Machine backup missing group containers folder?

I'm on a MBP running 10.11 (Yosemite) - I tried to free up space on my SSD, and I finally remove some profile folders that it turns out that I really, really need. Specifically, I deleted the following:

    • ~/Library/group containers/UBF8T346G9.ms
    • ~/Library/group containers/UBF8T346G9. Office

Archive a large number of emails locally, and (thought) they are all written in this file. So yes, whatever.

I thought, "I'll go in a time Machine backup from a few days ago, cling to these bad boys, and I'm back in business." Unfortunately - I searched several TM backups taken in the last few days/weeks and I can not find the folder ~/Library/Group containers. Zero, zip, nada.

I thought that maybe it's a hidden file or something, so I used the option to make hidden files visible in the Finder. The saw there and also hidden files in Time Machine. Anyway... no group containers folder.

Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Find my own solution.

It turns out that group containers is folder/system /. Library - and the. Library file is a hidden folder. Once I thought, I found what I need. BOO!
