  I recently did a program that changed my desktop wallpaper according to the time of day.  He worked by entering a terminal command that looked like something like this:

  It was working fine, until recently.  Now when I enter the command to define 'fichier.jpg', it works, and defines it as my desktop background as it is supposed to, but when I replace it with a new image of the same name and path, the command affects my wallpaper the original image of the same name.  When I went to change my wallpaper in system preferences, it showed in my new defined image preview area, even if it wasn't.  I'm doing something wrong or is there a problem with my Mac?

  I don't know what changes I made to the terminal command and I want to see if I can cancel an any of them because I have inadvertently artificial virus. I use the latest version of Mac OS X (10.11.3) on a Macbook Pro of the retina. I have reviewed the reset of the computer to the factory settings, but I don't know if that will clear the terminal the previous commands. Thank you in advance!

  Terminal Server can 'remember' commands you have issued. Open Terminal and type this command

  Recently the Terminal application on my iMac has been upward. When I opened the app, it displays the message: "-bash: touch: command not found". I am more able to run ruby of the IRB of terminal or access. Even simple commands such as ls train "-bash: ls: command not found". The terminal command, only that I was able to run so far is pwd. This iMac is relatively new to me. I bought at the flea market in December, upgraded the RAM and restored using Migration assistant. I have no idea about the competence of this iMac until I bought it. Yesterday I installed the El Capitan update 10.11.3. Since I tried to use this computer for learning development ruby, now that it seems to be useless for this purpose.

• Is it Possible terminal command via ExtendScript toolkit?

  I need to use the terminal command using javascript on extendscript.

  But, I will automate the script on macintosh and windows operating systems.

  Is it possible to use both in the same code?

  For example, I have will automate the pdffonts names in pdf files. so, I use the command on a mac '/ Users/user/Desktop/fontlist/pdf pdffonts' which gives the PDF font names. It works on manually. Is it possible to use the code for mac and windows on extendscript toolkit?  or separately give a code!

  I don't know how it works on Mac, but with Windows, you can have your orders in a batch file, and then run that ExtendScript. For example, here's a script that creates a batch file and then execute it:

  I'm trying to run the command createmediainstall (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201372) on the terminal in recovery mode to install a copy mounted Yosemite from a USB, it says currently it does not recognize the command I noticed as he does not recognize sudo, basic as the date commands etc seem to work though, no idea why?

  Your user account may have a problem with paths or something. Create a new administrator account and it try it. For something like the commands from the Terminal, it is very easy to use copy / paste to post the details here in the forum all exactly what you try and exactly what the result is.

  A few days ago, I opened the terminal on my MBP and tried the help command. Here, I tried ls help. I was expecting to get help for the command ls, but I got this instead:

  Orders randomly won't work. You must enter commands that make sense. "ls help" is a command to list a file named 'help' in the current directory. Since there is no file, all you get is an error message. If you want to learn how to use the shell, I suggest you only begin by reading a book or a tutorial online. I don't have a specific recommendation.

  I entered the following command in a terminal with the understanding that it would help me stop MacKeeper ads popping up because it looks like youtube I was using safari but on a Windows System. Who had the unexpected result of not being able to use whatsapp web (and I guess other things) cause he told me I should upgrade to Safari or use a different browser (it has not before and the change was immediate, it's obviously my fault enter the command...).

  I'm new to the mac terminal. I'm doing an awk command that runs through a series of files .txt for a specific word "Deet". Because the files contain this word several times, I want the command to find the last word "Deet" and enter the name of the file and the word. How can I write this code? Help, please?

  Usually, I stick to what is installed with OS X. This example of awk uses GNU awk (gawk) and I installed homebrew (infusion) package manager on my OS X El Capitan and then used infusion install gawk to to put in usr.

  Although awk on OS X will take the ENDFILE syntax without error, it does nothing when the end of an individual file is reached. It works fine in gawk.

  This is the awk script that you run in the Terminal and provide files *.txt on the command line. It will treat each line in the files looking for Deet, and when it reaches the end of the given file (ENDFILE), it will display the last captured DEET and the name of the current file. I called the following script deet.awk, and you run as:

• Terminal cd command does not properly

  I use to try to direct me to a subfolder, and when I do, I first use the 'ls' command to list the contents of the directory that I'm terminal. Next I use the command "cd" followed by a space and the name of the following folder or subfolder I would go in next. All this worked fine until I came across a folder, I called 'Russian project '. When I type "cd Russian project" I am told by terminal which "-bash: cd: Russia: no such file or directory". This is simply not true.   Cannot have spaces in the terminal commands. Try the Russian\ cd projects / or cd "Russian projects.

  Another way to run shell commands is via Automator-> run the Shell Script

  I would like a cron job to disable the 'allow the snapshot' nightly at 02:00.

  I can't find an online resource that gives enough details on the function of snapshot except how to delete snapshots. I want to deactivate access according to a schedule and keep the snapshot running.

  The recommended method for re-index/reconstruction is to open Spotlight preferences panel in system preferences, click on privacy. Now add the drive that you want to re - index to privacy window. Now delete this same player of the Privacy window, and it will now be indexed/rebuilt. No necessary terminal command.
