Test HP Pavilion dv4 boot failure

My HP Pavilion laptop dv4 (product ID: WA683UA #ABA) was in courses run really slow so I tried to restart it. After this startup fails every time. I ran a start-up test and got a breakdown of 0U7W11-52D61K-XD7U2J-60V103 ID. Above all he says is 1 hard drive and as the starting Test failed. I have a bad feeling that this means that my hard drive needs to be replaced. My computer is no longer under warranty and I don't want to put a lot of money.

Hello

It doesn't look like your hard drive is defective and must be replaced - it is a fairly simple procedure and a brief overview of it is below.

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

Hard drive 500 GB

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 50 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive.

If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

Kind regards

  • Pavilion dv4-2155dx screen shows no info on the first boot

    My machine generally works very well, except for one annoying thing: on my previous Pavilion (dv4-1435dx), he showed the HP logo and a message that made me know I could press F2 or do anything to get into the BIOS setup screen.

    But on this machine, all I get is a black screen, which makes it very difficult to know when to start press any function button is necessary.

    Is there a way to turn it back on, or it has never been available on this model?

    I think that HP this disabled by default on new versions of the bios, use F10 to enter the bios and see if there is a setting, you can change to return to the home screen, or press ESC to show for this start-up cycle.

    Key to the new laptops HP options, everyone can work on your

    ESC = Boot screen

    F1 = Information System

    F2 = System Diagnostics

    F9 = Startup Manager

    F10 = Bios setup

    F11 = HP System Recovery

    F12 = Network Boot

    After using F10 to enter the bios use F9 to load the bios default settings.

    My computer froze and crashed, then went to a black screen saying Disk Boot failure Insert System Disk. When I go to start my computer it goes either directly on the screen or it starts and runs fine for about 10 minutes and goes back to a black screen, repeat the disk boot failure.

    It is usually a very strong indication that your hard drive is dying. I hope you did the recovery disk set that will be required to reinstall your Windows and your software to a new hard drive.

    One thing you might try is first to enter the BIOS to turn on by pressing the F10 key. Once in the BIOS, press F5 to reset the default settings then F10 to save and exit.

    I have a HP Pavilion dv4-2145 dx laptop with Windows 7. After pressing the button "on", the logo operation windows says its "recovery" windows, but a black screen titled "Windows Resume Loader" appears with the following message:

    The last attempt to resume the system from its previous location failed. Attempt to resume again?

    With the 2 following options:

    1. continue with system summary, (which does not work and I end up with the resumption of the "Windows" followed a blank black screen...)

    Please notify.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

    I think that in this case, you will have to choose the second option - "Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu" and see if that fixes the problem.  If all etc. documents you had open before hibernation were saved, then you should not lose anything.  If there are unsaved changes (for example if you have added to a document), the file will be to the point that his last record and you lose additional data.

  • HP Pavilion dv4 screen black 1428dx / refuses to start up

    I have problems with my laptop (HP Pavilion dv4 1428dx) the last thing I did was paused, then cameback and tried to wake him up but it would not start up. All the lights are on, but the screen is black and the only thing that I hear the fan moving. The caps lock and num lock keys have a light flashing, not really sure what it means. The power light, battery light comes on, but the hard drive LED is not on. This computer is nearly 3 years old and I've never had a major problem like this until recently. If anyone has a solution that I'd be happy to appreciate them.

    Thank you for your time,

    Freshman4002

    The blink codes State caps lock/caps lock Num because it might be just the caps, just the number lock lock, or both.  If both blink, then it counts as a blink every time.

    If it flashes once and a break of 3 or 4 seconds, then tells the CPU POST test failed.  A processor failure usually requires a new processor, but some have been able to open Notepad for reinstall process and apply new thermal paste to get the problem resolved.

    If it is under warranty, I would advise you contact HP for service.

    If it is out of warranty, then I would contact HP to get a quote and compare that to the cost of a local PC shop to weigh your options.

    I own a laptop PC hp Pavilion dv4 laptop and this morning there was a sudden battery problem, I was playing Dota 2 and the Steam interface told me that the battery percentage was 12% (7 minutes from the end) then I moved and grabbed the chager, plugged into the outlet and plugged the charger in laptop a few seconds later the laptop turns off suddenly and won't restart, even if the charger is plugged there no light came from the load indicator.

    A few minutes later do research for similar problems, there was a solution to remove the battery and the charger then press and hold power for 30 seconds and 3-5 minutes then return the battery but it did nothing.

    After with some research, the indicator load on all of a sudden and when I start the laptop it was on 12 percent and billed not (there is no indicator that the charger is plugged) and turns off suddenly without warning.

    Later, with a bit of panic and thought, I removed the battery and the charge light lit, which allows me to boot up the laptop and when Windows starts, I plugged it to the battery and it says: 19% (plugged in, load) so I track for a bit, but it didn't move at all, even when I changed the power of High Performance for HP recommended settings , window 19% available (plugged in, load) but it's just, it, don't move or anything like that.

    EDIT: When I unplugged the charger to move my computer laptop and plugged in again, the indicator not lit and does not charge the battery thus forcing me to shut down or Hibernate, and remove the battery to the charge light.

    Your battery is quite likely to be having no longer life left.

    It is that if your laptop starts up without the battery, since the race, the battery test is not a viable option.

  • Pavilion dv4: Windows 7 does not start and I can't access the system with f11 recovery

    I use a Pavilion dv4. Windows just crashed on a blue screen with a message about physical memory dump. Now when I start the computer it will just a black screen with a blinking cursor to the place when windows normally should start. I can not access the system with the f11 key recovery. I went in with the f2 key diagnostic mode. Diagnostic tests except for the battery test that failed, but shouldn't the laptop to be able to run without a battery if it is connected? And besides, if the problem was the battery, the laptop wouldn't be able to turn on at all, no?

    I'm not about to spend all that money on a battery just to know that it is not the battery.

    Hello

    If you have the 64 bit rescue CD, you would have received an error if it was bad.

    Once you have all your data backup, try the following - which means that Windows has been installed on the C Partition.

    Boot from the new rescue CD, select repair your computer and choose the command line.  When this charge, enter the following commands and press on enter after everyone – including spaces as shown.

    Bootrec.exe

    bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup

  • HP Pavilion dv4 problem of disk controller!

    Hello, I have a Core i5 Pavilion dv4, wich is recently have frozen, and then a BSOD appears with stop 0x000000F4. I checked for software issues, but everything is normal. I ran the memory and the disk self-test with results 03F0 in two tests.

    I noticed that when I do the computer work stronger than normal (e.g. a 6 GB on an external disk file copy), or as when installing Adobe Master Collection CS5, the computer freezes at a part of the installation and then the HARD drive is not recognized by the BIOS, so I have to on your computer (then turn on turn off).

    Help! Please...

    Hello

    03F0 is a failure of the bios hard disk test, you may well need to replace.

    It may be useful to check the following running.  Click on the Start Menu, computer, left click Local disk C once to highlight, right-click Local disk C and select Properties.  Click the Tools tab and then click on the button "check the drive for errors.  In the next window make sure that both boxes are checked, then click Start.  Part of this process will require a reboot to check the disk.  After the restart, as Windows checks the HARD disk, keep a watch for the number of defective sectors found.

  • HP Pavilion DV4-5110TX overheating and thermal shutdown problem

    HP Pavilion DV4-5110TX under Windows 7 Ultimate x 64

    I had problems with this computer from the beginning, to be honest.  But now the situation is unbearable.

    I can't go even 30 minutes making the slightly intensive tasks involving the graphics card
    (Like the game in low detail, do a rendering/CS/CAD work) without thermal shutdown due to a problem of overheating as a result of misplaced fan. and the fan on this thing is very very strong, even in low market (another downside of this model, but it's not the point).

    SpeedFan shows average at 90 c CPU and GPU Temp about 65 ° c temp. Even when doing absolutely nothing (like now). What does really serve to accumulate all these heat? solve the world huger?

    I tried to clean the vents, use the Compressed Air used an expensive Cooler Fan, reinstalled Windows and other drivers HP and demand several times now. and I exhuasted.

    Then. Help? Anyone?

    Hello Opscsd.  I understand you are having some problems with the closing of overheating and/or random downs.

    How long have you had this laptop?  It is still under warranty?

    The fan makes a noise of rattling sound similar to what you would expect if the fan was loose or is it simply "strong"?

    You have ensured that you have the latest version of the BIOS?  You said you updated the drivers and applications so I assure you.  I think it's the latest BIOS for your laptop.

    I would also make the built in Diagnostics for hardware (RAM and hard drive because they both can cause similar symptoms).  This will help narrow down the cause.  If you don't know how to do these tests take a look at this document.  Be sure to view the results.

    I will keep an eye out for your answer.  I wish you a great weekend!

  • HP Pavilion dv4 stops unexpectedly

    Hey there,

    I have a Hp Pavilion dv4 Notebook PC I bought half a year ago. A couple of days, while I was working on my computer it unexpectedly closes. At first I thought it was because my computer was out of battery because when I turned it on, there was no charge inside. However, two days later it stopped again and when I turned it back on it still had about 21 percent of power left. I don't really know what could be the problem. I did a scan of the computer, health analysis and tested my battery as well and they were all aware.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

  • His stutters on Pavilion dv4-1120us

    I had my Pavilion dv4 1120us for Christmas and put it in place. It is under Vista Home premium with SP1. I noticed that from time to time during sound playback slows and stutters for a few seconds and then the catch usually upward. He made cela hung together through its speakers and external speakers. The condition seems insensitive to changes in devices. I noticed that no special request is responsible for either. It occurred when streamming myspace and playlist.com, when watching a dvd in both media center, wmp and VLC, windows included during playback of CD and by practicing a game (total annihilation). I also noticed that the problem persisted even when I extracted decrease the number of processes ranging from 80 to 60 something.
    I thought that the problem may lie simply in Vista and the bloat-ware that came on the computer. Today I inistalled dual-boot ubuntu and the problem is ongoing, as well as the headphone jack and speakers single switch with Vista (I think it's just a driver issue...), I would like to know how to solve the problem at least with Vista and with linux so would be good. • HP Pavilion DV4-1125nr cannot start after the update/update BIOS version F.12 to d.55

    System: HP Pavilion DV4-1125nr PC Notebook

    Product #: FR922UAR #AB

    The system board ID: 30F7

    Version of the BIOS (before the update): F.12

    OS: Windows 7

    I tried to update the BIOS to d.55 which was provided by HP. After the successful installation the closure of new windows BIOS correctly. I restart the PC, HP Logo appears and then nothing happens. The operating system do not load or start at all.

    I also tried to boot using the Windows 98 Second edition CD (to charge BACK), but it did not work.

    Please help me...

    Fortunately I found a Solution to this problem.

    Here are the summaries (and modified according to my needs) the steps that I've taken of the following thread:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware/dv4-1140GO-won-t-boot-after-flashing-latest-BIOS/m-p/19698#M2730

    1. go to the hp site and download the correct version of your BIOS. In my case it had to F.12. Why not the latest version? Because there is no guarantee that the last one will work for you, know after measures.

    2. go where you downloaded the file and using 7 - Zip (or tool of your choice of course) unzip the contents to a folder of your choice. We'll get to that later, so keep this file open.

    3. use 128 MB or no matter what key-USB USB key (the smallest, you might find, because they said the smaller the better ) and reformatted to FAT or FAT32 click with the right button on the drive by clicking on "format".

    4. now that my USB is ready, go back to the folder where you extracted the file to update the BIOS (always open to the right of the folder?)

    "5. If you have the graphics card Intel integrated like me, copy the ' 30F7F12U. FD"of the key USB and RENAME the file '30F7F12U. FD' at '30F7. BIN ". Remember that this name calling to order "DV4-1125nr. If you have a different motherboard, the system or the BIOS, the name must be determined according to the.

    The next steps are exact 0.0 as follows (the link of a full detailed discussion is provided below), I simply numbered:

    6 unplug the adapter from the laptop.

    7 remove the battery from the laptop.

    8 insert the USB key into one of the USB ports on the laptop.
    Does not seem to matter which.

    9. press the 'Windows' key and the 'B' key

    10. connected to the power adapter.

    11 press the 'Power' button on the laptop.

    12. when the LED is entered, letting go of the power button / stop and the two keys down earlier.

    13. After about 10 seconds the notebook started to read the USB key. While searching for the file, the laptop beeps every seconds.
    The number of beeps varied, depending on what size of the key USB has been and
    the number of files on the USB key, a single beep for many.
    If the file was not found, the laptop will restart and try again.

    14. If the file is found then it took about 12 seconds for the laptop to load. No beeps sound not heard during the loading time.

    15. when it is responsible for the laptop has started flashing, indicated by beeps every 2 seconds. It took about 32 seconds.

    16. about 5 seconds after the ringtone had stopped off the laptop computer.

    First I update my pc with the last BIOS (F.66), but did not work for me (operating system not loaded after HP Logo ). So I decided to go back to the old F.12 (the version that has been shipped when the laptop was purchased) according to the procedure described above. But the problem is where to find version F.12 as HP currently provides links only for the version of the BIOS F.66 to d.55 (in the drivers from the hp support site section)

    Fortunately, I found a direct link to this version F.12 in the next thread.

    http://Forum.NotebookReview.com/HP-Compaq/304332-C700-CQ40-CQ45-dv4-dv5-DV6-hdx18t-Insyde-BIOS-recovery-using-USB-thumbdrive-2.html

    F.12 version:

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp40501-41000/sp40749.exe

    This was F.12 and worked for me. Thank God Almighty I return my PC.

    Thanks to all who contributed in the discussions above.
