Text cursor moves back

I want to preface this by saying: I'm on Firefox Beta for Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.4 was last updated.

For about 2 days now my text cursor back at the beginning of the text box when I start typing. I have seen it happen on Twitter, the Web of WhatsApp and Medium (which is the worst offender, by typing completely backward). I know that being on the beta, I would expect a bug or two, but I don't think that something like that could pass through.

Does anyone know a fix for this? I foresee only staying on beta until 40 Firefox comes out, but I would still do not pull my hair until then.

You can try the following steps in case of problems with web pages:

You can reload webpages and ignore the cache to refresh potentially stale or corrupt.

  • Hold down the SHIFT key and click the Reload button
  • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
  • Press 'Command + shift + R' (Mac)

Clear the cache and delete cookies only from Web sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > advanced > network > content caching Web: 'clear now '.

'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > privacy > "Use the custom settings for history" > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

  • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
  • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

  • discretionary hyphens and question text cursor movement

    When I add optional hyphens

Words and then use the cursor keys to navigate, it moves on the discretionary hyphens as of the individual characters. Is this correct? To ignore this what I do write a keyboard Manager to treat or is this a bug?

This is how it works - TLF is not clear how the DH has been placed and allows editing of them without special treatment.  Users can insert a DH with ctrl-shift-hyphen.

If you want custom handling you need to develop a method - they keyboard Manager can operate - it is much simpler if you work only with horizontal text of LTR.  The keys are interpreted in the physical sense for RTL and vertical text.

  • my cursor moves only on long press arrow keys - how to get back to normal?

The normal configuration for my keyboard, it is that when I press an arrow key, the cursor moves in a single step. Something happened to my installation of Firefox as the cursor moves only if the key direction for a second or two. How to return this setting to normal?

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions of the origin of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

  • BUG: Insertion of the text cursor Point

Anyone had any luck placing the text cursor at the beginning or the end of a line on the meadow in any application when its towards the edge of the screen?  For example, pretend that the ^ is where they place the cursor when you type to move.

T ^ he dog jumped over the fence ^ e

It the hell out of me to bugs and is only a problem when the text is towards the sides of the screen.  When you press to move the cursor, you can place only after the second letter at the beginning or at the second to last to the end.  If you must correct these letters, you must remove and way back just to obtain appropriate cursor positioning.  On the iPhone, you can just press on and hold to bring up the magnifying glass and drag the slider to where ever you need.  WebOS needs a same function, or at least set on which you can place the cursor where you need.

I'm looking for a solution to this, but had no luck.  Any ideas?

PLCE the cursor to the place, you need, and then press and hold the Orange key. The cursor will be arrows around it and you can move by dragging your finger. This will work much matter where your finger.

  • When you type in Firefox, the cursor moves to the left while everything is written backwards.

Recently, whenever I try to type so that Firefox 9.01, the cursor moves to the left while everything is written backwards. I can normally type into a word document to have done with it and cut and pasted in this message. I use Windows XP. I closed Firefox and restarted my computer twice with no success to solve this problem.

Maybe this recent thread on the issue even helps.

  • Satellite R850 - cursor moves at random while typing

I use this R850 because it was provided by the work.
I found it almost as frustrating as the HP, I got to my previous job... and it's for the same reasons!

-The cursor moves randomly, then when typing I find I type completely in the wrong place.
-It removes random pieces of my work - particularly frustrating on a web page where there is no "undo" button
-When you use functions like drag in the editor, or highlight text, the touchpad is not always cooperative.
-Some random/spaces etc. letters do not occur despite proper pressure.

Quite frankly, it takes too much time to do things and I want to throw out of a dam in a deep lake.

No liquid has been spilled on it.
Are no crumbs in the keyboard.
This seems to be a defective product as the "HP Elitebook" I got last year!

This happened to me because I accidentally touched the touchpad while typing.
In my case I could solve this annoying problem issue but the option settings: disable the touchpad while typing.

This setting should be available in Control Panel-> mouse-> avancΘs

The other option is to disable the touch pad using the function key

  • Cursor moves

Everytime I type something my cursor moves or went the way of scrolling page to the top, or move my cursor or in another word, and start typing there where it should. Just as he did in the last sentence where I have the word OR in bold. Ery This is what happened when I typed the word 'very', the cursor takes the form of places in the text, so do me constantly check for errors. This has occurred recently and I use a Dell Inspiron laptop. It's frustrating and thought microsoft could help.

    Thank you

    Katy

Check the documentation of your laptop, or the Dell Support web site, to see how to disable the touchpad on the laptop.  That likley solve the problem for you.

  • My cursor moves to the left while typing 'e '.

I tried all the options like safe mode checking, it remains the same... I can normally type in the google search box or in the FB chat window, but this is a problem when I try to type 'e' in any text editor and the cursor moves upstairs to the left. Help me

It is almost always the result of a faulty keyboard.

If yours is a desktop configuration, it's simple and cheap.  New keyboards are cheap and widely available.  Tip, the more expensive keyboards are no better than the cheaper.  The only difference is the "feel" you prefer.

If yours is a laptop configuration (AKA / laptop), it's a much bigger problem.  This must be done by a technician competent trust and they must use the right part.  There are many replacements of keyboard that are almost the same.  This is likely to cost at least $100.  In addition, and is not so nice to use an external keyboard.

  • When the typing cursor moves by itself to a previous line

As I type the cursor moves by itself a previous line, and the text is all mixed up. Say, you typed a few lines, the cursor will then move WARNING witout a previous word or line, and the text becomes involved. (until typing this I've had to delete garbled text 4 times and re type)

How your problem is related to Windows Update (compared to the Windows upgrade)?

  • My text cursor is transparent

I have not changed this option. Does anyone know how to make your text cursor to display? Mine is transparent and I don't know how to go back to the way it was. Help, please.

    Hi Noel,

There is no indication in your message of operating system that you use. The instructions below are for Windows 7. If you're running Vista, they can give you a hint where to find the same thing. If not, come back and clarify your operating system.

    Try this:

    1. go to the Start menu

    2. click on Control Panel

    3. click on ease of access

    4. click on the link change how your mouse works in the accessibility category

    5. you will see a number of options of mouse pointers in make the mouse easier to use

    6. Select a pointer by clicking on the button (the default is ordinary white, first in the list)

I hope it works for you. Come if not with as much information as possible.

    All the best,

    Sharon

A part of the my s g80 lenovo touchpad does not (far left, to be more precise on the thick part of 5 cm), the cursor moves sometimes, bought this tour only 2 weeks before. I use especially the usb mouse, so never experienced this problem before, I do not know if it is still there since I bought. Please say a solution for this problem, I can't change the os now :(

Lenovo/support forums is the place to ask, its their software/driver.

Unless of course you make the mistake of using windows update for drivers, if so try to make back the driver, or reinstall on the Lenovo support site

  • Text cursor disappears in dreamweaver beta cc

    Hello world

We just downloaded dreamweaver cc beta to solve a problem that wasn't, however another question occurred, when the text cursor disappears when you type a letter.

There is no process on when that happens, that happens.

For a temporary solution, you can switch between the window layout IE design dev and back to the design.

Did someone knows if there is a setting in preferences or this is just a beta version bug?

    Thank you

    Shayan

Make sure you visit the DW Beta forum to inform the dev guys, they swing on the regular forums much.
