text layer needs to be updated?

Hello. Strange thing just happened to me:

I save a file .psd of CS3 with layers of text (they are actively installed on my XP system, they appear in the drop-down list of the Photoshop type tool).

I close the file. I have the reopen three minutes later (because I found a typo in).

From the opening, the PS said:
> Some text layers may need to be updated before they can be used for vector output. You want to update these layers now?

When I click on "Update", the file opens correctly, all the layers of text appears correctly and can be edited.

This does not happen always, but it's happened a few times for me and I can't find the problem...

Any ideas?
Thank you!
There are dozens of hits from google for the error message, for the most part in other forums, but in each case I found, after a bit of investigation, it turned out be a problem of missing fonts.
(which is obviously not the case here...)

Try to screw up/reset preferences according to the guidelines of the fair questions.

Perhaps an invisible character (a space or a return, for example) which is in a different font?) You can select all of the text and make sure that everything is in the desired font. Just a shot in the water.

  • I need to make a transparent text layer

    It's amazing - I want to do should be a piece of cake, but I don't see how. I am designing a cover of Blu - Ray and wanted my text in black on a blue background. The blue background came from matching the color of the sky in which a photograph is on the cover and adding a layer of blue. The background color of my text layer remains stubbornly white and I can't get the blue background to be seen.

    There is probably an easier way - like filling the text layer with the color took a blue color - but I can't find how to do that either.

    Will I be stupid or something that should be ridiculously simple is really that complicated? The web seems to be of little use here.

    Hello

    Whenever I create a new text layer using the code below - it always creates the text by using the font 'Myriad Pro' (as opposed to the police, I put more precisely).

    Double click on the text on the right side of the display panel does not cause a dialog box open. I just need to know where the dialog box is so I can add the drop shadow

    Please make sure that you double-click on the text layer in the layer panel not the name of the layer. With the text, it can be difficult if the name is too long. You can also right-click on the text layer in the Panel and bring up the contextual menu and select 'blending Options '.

  • Why the edges of the layer of a text layer bizarre behavior?

    I'm stuck on this. When I create a text layer in Photoshop CS5 and then finds the edges of the layer, and I can't understand why the edges of the layer are actually in the text itself. It is not extending the edges of the layer out to the real edges. This caused enormous problems in trying to align text layers before the rasterize the layer.

    Can someone explain to me why Photoshop behaves in this way? And there at - it a way to make it stop? For reasons too go in, I can not rasterize the layer at this point. I need to be able to snap everything first.

    I was able to force a similar look by choosing bizarre settings in my character Panel.

    You have the type of Point or area?

    If you can't find the correct settings, either reset the text tool or reset all tools. Go to your control panel (top panel). Right click on the text tool. Select the reset tool and all the weird stuff will disappear for the tool. Reset all the tools to put them all back to their default values.

    Sometimes, when I try to type on a new layer of text, the cursor insists on going to a previous text layer. Any advice?

    Any help to this phenomenon will be appreciated.

    This is something that has affected the PS CC 2014 (I only trnsferred to CC 2015 today)

    If you click the text tool in the area of text to another layer, the layer text will be often selected. You need to lock or disable the visibility of the layer when you work with layers of text that are close together.

  • "ESC" on the text layer is removal of text like old Photoshop

    I have got so accustomed to the use of the ESC key to go back to the pointer tool once I've finished writing a text layer, I can't not do that without losing the text I've written since the update to Photoshop CC 2015.

    No idea why they changed it, but editing preferences-> Type of-> and check the box to use ESC to validate the text

  • Set different font sizes for certain parts of the text layer?

    I am a novice as AE is going, but I'm working on a script to dynamically change a project.

    The project in question has a text layer has a single string, but with variable font size (the text is a price, where the hundred part is a smaller font to the different initial values).   I want to use a script to change this text, but it is enough to assign a new text document does not retain the variable formatting - all figures are found with the same font size.

    Since the guide of the script, I see that the size of the font of a text document object is available, but only in a very limited form - definition of value he sets for the entire document, without options to set for a range of characters.  I would be fair to assume that programmatically create/update a document with several sizes of fonts is not possible?

    If this is the case, what would be my best options to achieve the same effect?  If the project is modified to have several layers/documents, is there a way to adjust the positioning to maintain good spacing/kerning between independent channels?  (I'm also a dollar with yet another sign size of police prior to the price, so I would have actually three pieces of text to position in my script and just to the right/left cannot justify two strings).

    Thanks for the tips!

    AFAIK, there isn't a convenient way for a script to maintain several font sizes once it changes a text document.

    You can however, use sourceRectAtTime() to get the actual span of text in a text layer, positioning and three text layers to get the desired spacing is not difficult.

  • AE expressions - linking text to a table (syntax problem) external text layer

    Hi all

    I am struggleing to solve this problem-any help would be greatly appreciated.

    In a text outside the legacy document, I have some pictures saved as follows:

    var = Los Angeles ['Los Angeles', "city Type:", 'Multi City', "Geo:", '-115.180664062,36.111252521', "languages:", "31", "County of POI: ', '20'," County Photo: ', '600', 'Video', 'Y', 'Video views', '30 200'];

    var Las_Vegas = ['Los Vegas', "city Type:", 'Multi-City', "Geo:", '-118.243684900,34.052234200', "languages:", "29", "County of POI: ', '20', ' County Photo:", '331', 'Video', 'Y', 'Video views', '26 000'];

    var Sydney = ["Sydney", "city Type:", 'Multi-City', "Geo:", "151.204250000,-33.866850000", "languages:", "29", "County of POI: ', '20'," County Photo: ', '331', 'Video', 'Y', 'Video views', '26 000'];

    In my comp in AE, I have a layer of text called "city selector. The source text is retouching to navigate between table names (for example: "Los Angeles", "Las_Vegas").

    I then many other text layers, with the following expression in the parameter of source text-

    try {}

    myPath = ' / Volumes/VIdeo-Master/videos/find your project b0ss/source.txt ';

    $.evalFile (myPath);

    eval (thisComp.layer("CITY_PICKER").text.sourceText) [Math.round (effect ("Slider Control") ("Slider"))];

    } catch (err) {}

    "MISSING."

    }

    Each text layer has a slider control to call another element in the table. Thus simplified, the 4th line of the code should read-

    eval (arrayname) [number]

    For example: eval (Sydney) [5] must return ' language:'

    HOWEVER, instead, when

    eval (Sydney) [5] returns "y".

    eval (of Los Angeles) [5] returns ' no

    eval (of Los Angeles) [3] returns "_".

    Everyone can see what I'm doing wrong?

    See you soon!

    Hi again,

    I realize I completely misunderstaood the role of the SELECTOR of the CITY, where your question.

    Next, you need the eval. I'm sorry.

    In your original expression, try to replace eval (thisComp.layer("CITY_PICKER").text.sourceText) [...]

    by eval (thisComp.layer("CITY_PICKER").text.sourceText.value) [...]

    If my guess is rigth, AE expressions allow an amibiguities between the properties and their value, but eval (which is a native js function) does not work.

    Then your original expression begins with the assessment of a property should evaluate a string ("Sydney", etc...)

    Have not tried.

  • Photoshop CC 14.2 leaves empty text layer

    Hey,.

    with the new update of the CC 14.2, whenever you click anywhere with the text tool and that you change your mind (like hitting ESC because you missed an existing text) an empty text layer is left out. He didn't use to be like this, empty text layers are everywhere in my paper now.

    In any case, you can avoid this?

    (I'm on a Mac using the x 64 version of Photoshop CC 14.2)

    Yes, it's a boring change in photoshop cc 14.2

    http://feedback.Photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop_cc_14_2_pressing_esc_in_te xt_layer_editing_mode_doesnt_cancel_but_applies_changes

    you could press the button cancel the options toolbar or press on Ctrl + > (windows) or cmd + > (mac)

    Does anyone know if that change is actually documented anywhere?

  • How can we get the names of police of every text layer in a document?

    Hi all!

    I wanted to know how we can get the names of fonts applied in each text layer in a psd file. I tried the following,

    NumLayers Int32 = 0;

    calculate the number of text layers.

    error = PIUGetInfo (classTextLayer, keyCount and numLayers, NULL);

    for (int i = numLayers - 1; i > 0;--i)

    {

    char * fontName = new char [100];

    Int32 len = 100;

    get the name of the font of each layer by index.

    error = PIUGetInfoByIndex (I, classTextLayer, keyFontName, fontName and len);

    }

    Suppose I have a document that has 2 layers of text and 2 layers of solid color as shown in the screenshot. Note that this document does not have a background layer. So, number of layers is 4.

    Forum.JPG

    If the layer is a layer of solid color, then I get the number of layers 0. But, if the selection of the layer is at all layers of text, I get number of layers 4. Why not get the number of layers 2 I requested info in the instruction text layers, PIUGetInfo (classTextLayer, keyCount and numLayers, NULL).

    In addition, I get error =-25922 to PIUGetInfoByIndex (I, classTextLayer, keyFontName, fontName and len).

    which is errReferenceNotFoundDefine.

    How can I go about it?

    Thank you!

    Hello

    I usually have "remember" United in what image is and then start working on it. This allowes me to iterate through layers when draft information or perform an action, and then set the document (in the previous state, with this wantsof user change course). Using this approach I am using index layers, but I don't know as I work on the layer is curently active layer.

    Now

    Getting the numbers of layer in a document:

    error is sPSActionReference-> PutEnumerated(reference,classDocument,typeOrdinal,enumTarget);.

    If (error) goto returnError;

    error is sPSActionControl-> Get (& result, reference);.

    If (error) goto returnError;

    error = sPSActionDescriptor-> GetInteger (result, keyNumberOfLayers, & numLayers);

    If (error) goto returnError;

    returnError:

    If (result! = NULL) sPSActionDescriptor-> Free (result);

    If (reference! = NULL) sPSActionReference-> Free (reference);

    error return;

    }

    Here is a part of the code (I hope you can understand that I have cut out a lot of)

    code that is not necessary in order to shorten the post) that retrieves the names of fonts.

    I used this approach since I have to get a lot more detailed information about text layers (not prsented here)

    I guess bu using routines from PIUGetInfoByIndex to aproprite, you can do much shorter.

  • PE 9-cannot change text-keep existing add new text layer

    Hello

    I'm trying to re - edit text in a .psd file.  I tried:

    • Select the layer on the text
    • Select the text tool

    According to all forum messages/help videos I watched, I thought I was supposed to be able to change the text this elsewhere, but all that happens is that it allows me to add a new text layer.  I'm sorry if the answer to that has already been posted, but I could not find.  I appreciate all help.

    Lori

    I think that I finally thought to it! The layer has been simplified, because there is no "T" in the text icon in the layers panel.  I don't remember to simplify, but somehow I must have.  I tried to create a new text box, and of course, even after it hit the green check mark to accept all of the settings I've chosen initially, I could go back and change it.  A disappointment, because now I need to go back and understand exactly how I had it before, but at least the mystery is solved.  Thanks for the suggestions.
