That means "at most" implies under Server settings?

This question is about the "Leave messages on the server" option under Tools > account settings > server settings. I'm setting up Thunderbird on a new system of Windows 8.1 and initially decided to not leave copies of messages that are downloaded to the server. Unfortunately, the system crashed (for reasons that had nothing to do with Thunderbird) and I had to go back to a previous restore point, losing mail that has been downloaded in the meantime. To guard against similar losses in the future, it seems that a good solution would be to retain messages for 10 days (for example), offering the opportunity to download all the messages that are missing for the second time, while at the same time not allowing the number of messages on the server to grow indefinitely.
It seems that this option should be available, but I am intrigued by the use of the term "for a maximum". If I select the first box and 10 days then logically a message which is held for one day on the server would meet the criterion.
I see two possibilities: (1) the phrase should read "for no less than", or (2) to obtain the desired effect, the second box should also always be verified, so that together, show the boxes ' until I have delete messages, but in any event not more than 10 days.
Someone could tell me which of these interpretations is correct, or have I completely misinterpreted what this option is intended to provide?

2 does it for me.

    Hi Paige,

After definition of your colors for highlights and Shadows slider balance allows you to find the sweet spot between the two or to get a specific look based on a central point of 50% gray. More or less the 50% level affects the highlights or shadows and the hue/saturation for each. Rick has an old video that is always topical.

My computer is having problems when I bought all first it was from another provider which came as a set overclocked PC up the unit everything needed had to be put in my case & add existing hard drives & DVD etc. readers added on the implementation. I used the same location for more than 10 years before that I always built them myself I can build a good setup computer I correspond to different parts inside each other, and then he tested & sent.
Unfortunately, the store has closed & the owner is sick cannot get their hands on him more & I had to get some add on things like new SSDS & some other bits in my system & the young boy said he would could do this job, but everything went wrong & I lost all new so I decided to recycle me like I used to do it before windows 7-64 came out I was going through a rough patch with me being paraplegic in any case it is difficult to build a new PC, so I chose this store & their confidence that went wrong now & I've been research & learn to catch up with the new technology, I do what I do anyway.
Thing is my system is never one that you can purchase a manufacturer & I left it with the young boy & it came out all memory & was not necessary but of course upset of that ruined the setting completely overclocked so I did it myself & I got the work faster than ever, & quieter PC I just got the score that he had now , so I'm happy with it, but the names I came across while overclocking I came across that I'm not average or really lot as were dealing with Fast CrossfireX DDR RAM 1600 MHz.
Please don't tell me that I should not be messing around with what I made since 1989 & made great strides in how everything works, I am not aware about this sort of thing I know SATA what it is & done, but those responsible for setting came from the part of overclocking in the BIOS I put then correctly , but I wanted to know what they represent in more depth. I'm pretty sure that you are on the wrong "forum" for this type of topic. This forum is designed as a support Pro-type Surface ultrabook/tablets and tablet-like Surface.

    That said,

AHCI - Advanced Host Controller Interface - this is a hardware mechanism that allows the software to communicate with the devices Serial ATA (SATA). It offers features such as connecting hot and native command queuing (NCQ).

IDE - Integrated Drive Electronics - IDE is basically the 'old' version of AHCI without connection to hot and NCQ. (It is usually used during the era the Parallel ATA (PATA) hard drives)

Now. Mode AHCI and IDE mode - what is - this? IDE mode is to give you the greatest compatibility with older operating systems. AHCI is as I mentioned above, a modern version of the IDE - use the AHCI mode if you are running recent operating systems (Windows Vista + and Linux kernel 2.6.19+).) IDE mode will allow you to connect older operating systems with SATA drives.

As I mentioned above, SATA is Serial ATA and the replacement of hard drives Parallel ATA (PATA).

RAID - this is a storage technology where combine you multiple disks in a unit of 'single', depending on the mode, there may be RAID-0 and RAID-6 and each with different hard drive configurations. I will explain the simple examples: RAID-0 , which is the distribution but no parity or mirroring, this means that there is no data redundancy, if there is a failure on a disc, it will cause the loss of data on the entire RAID array. Ex: You 0110 as writing the data, 01 goes on disk 1 and 10 goes on disc 2, allowing a faster data read/write access.

RAID-1- This is the opposite of RAID-0, which is mirrored without interlacing (no parity or the other). Basically, this means that you have an exact clone of disk 1 disk 2 disk 1 failure.

RAID0 + 1 is that both RAID 1 and 0 is, IE interlacing (write data simultaneously to two [or more]. disks more mirroring failure) the minimum amount of disks required for this type of installation is 4 IDENTICAL drives.

There is also RAID 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. That is just more implemented different configurations of distribution/parity/mirroring on disks.

That being said, your RAID mode will allow you for some type of RAID configuration, if you choose to do so.

Supplement: Many SATA controllers can enable AHCI separately or in combination with RAID support. Recommend Intel choose RAID mode on their motherboards, allowing also the AHCI, rather than AHCI/SATA mode for maximum flexibility (in the case that you ever want to build a RAID array), because there are a few problems that occurs, usually BSOD, when you choose a different mode once an operating system is already installed.

That means "another device on the network use the IP address of your computer"?, that means "another device on the network is using the IP address of your computer?

    A

Most likely, the computer becomes a network address of a router. The assignment of an address ("lease") expires and must be renewed after a certain period of time, which could be an hour or a day. The lease expired without being renewed because the device has been disconnected at the time. Meanwhile, the address has been leased to another device on the network, or maybe the router has not updated its list of addresses the leases. When the device offline comes back online, a conflict results. Depending on the type of router you have, the conflict can resolve itself automatically. If not, then in the menu bar, select please

    ▹ System Preferences network ▹ 

If the preferences window is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Click the Advanced button, and then select the TCP/IP tab in the sheet that drops down. Look at the menu option

    Configure IPv4

If the selection in this menu is

    Using DHCP

    Click on the button

    Renew the DHCP lease

    Test.

Make sure that you have more than one DHCP server on the network. That could happen if you have more than one access point Wi - Fi, or if you have a router and broadband a wide device distinct in connection mode sharing.

    B

Less likely, you have a network address that you assigned yourself and another device is itself by assigning the same address. In this case, the selection to configure IPv4 menu will be either manually or using DHCP with manual address. This kind of conflict will not be resolved automatically. You have the following options to solve:

    1. Change the selection in menu using DHCP.
    2. Change the address assigned manually to one that is not used by another device.
    3. Change the address of the other device.

Which of these options you choose depends on the details of why you use a static IP address. Any changes you make to the network settings is necessary before taking effect. To do this, click OK, and then click apply.

If the router is also your device at wide band, then he may be operating in bridged mode. In this case, only one customer at a time will be able to connect to the Internet. Consult the manufacturer or ISP documentation for how to reconfigure the device in the connection mode sharing.

    C

According to a report a "DirectTV" receiver can cause the problem. If necessary, disconnect the device from the network, or power off and test. Consult the support services provider.

    Awesome...

Never found such an explanation anywhere on the internet.

    So well explained.

Can I raise another question please?

Actually what I want to know is not in regards to windows 7 (I'm sorry if I mentioned that), I would like to know what does the name (edition full, professional, business etc.) means for all windows (either Vista, 7, or 8), sorry if I'm vague. :)

Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows 7 Ultimate (there is no Ultimate de Windows 8 edition) - The ultimate Reference means that the editions the most comprehensive consumer can buy at retail and be able to use all the functions and features of Windows.

Windows Vista business, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 8 Pro - is generally the support of SME of Windows edition. It is also used by power users who need to use it on power PC such as game with many stations computers memory or work. It is also used in businesses where I've seen it deployed. These versions and editions are actually logical upgrades to Windows XP Professional.

Windows Vista business, Windows 7 Enterprise and Enterprise of Windows 8 / 8.1 - He is editing relatively new which was introduced in 2006 with the release of Windows Vista. It is intended for very large companies that make large roll outs of Windows. Think about companies that are internationally with regional offices around the world, employees who speak different languages, the complex requirements and the needs for access to the resources of the company on remote computers. Most individuals will never need this edition and to still take advantage of its unique features, you must have a Windows Enterprise/Datacenter server deployed in your organization.

Purchase is also another complexity. It is available for volume license customers who deploy a certain amount of computers with it. In addition, activation requirements differ for it depending on how you buy licenses. While you can buy the other editions in a store, you can only buy Windows Enterprise edition by a dealer value-added and you even purchase select type of Volume Licensing Agreement called Software Assurance comes to qualify for it.

    Other editions:

Home Premium (Windows Vista/Windows 7) - for individuals

Home Basic (Windows Vista/Windows 7) - for users in emerging markets such as parts of Asia, Africa, the Caribbean.

Starter edition (Windows Vista/Windows 7) - for the development of markets where computers are expensive but only users need the basics such as connection Internet, e-mail, preparation of documents. This edition is available for Windows Vista and XP has restrictions such as the resolution of 1024 x 768, only 5 applications could be opened at the same time.

Since the release of Windows 8, this is the only Lighthouse editions of Microsoft Windows:

Windows 8 Core - similar to Windows 7 Home Basic Edition

Windows 8 Pro - similar to Windows 7 Professional

Windows 8 Enterprise - similar to Windows 7 Enterprise

Windows RT - new platform based on Windows 8 for devices with the ARM processor, ensuring the greater autonomy and modern applications on most mobile devices.

    command like below:

    $servers = get-Content c:\computername.txt

    ForEach ($server in $servers)

    {get-wmiobject Win32_networkadapterconfiguration - computername $server

    | where {$_.} IPEnabled-fits 'True'} | Select-object

    name, DNSServerSearchOrder

But when I run this command fails with errors such as a pipe empty

element is not allowed.  I don't know if the above script has all synatx

error or what is the best way to get a list of servers and their dns server

    Parameters.

I know the wmiobject maybe out of this range in these newsgroups but there at - it a script in powershell, vmware or windows powershell to get a list of servername (which are mostly VMS) and their DNS server settings.

Try the following script to get the DNS search order:

    Get-Content c:\computername.txt | `
    ForEach-Object {
      Get-WMIObject Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration -Computername $_ | `
        Where-Object {$_.IPEnabled -match "True"} | `
        Select-Object -property DNSHostName,DNSServerSearchOrder
    }

I got an e-mail that is returned by the demon with the reason given as "over quota" that mean?

Well, most ISPS and web-based e-mail providers have rules in place: some have attachments maximum file sizes, most have maximum rates for the number of recipients/how many emails per day. I had one that had a maximum bandwidth and would not deliver an email until tomorrow if I ended this day.

So check the terms of your email provider.

  • Server settings fail but work elsewhere

I tried to get Thunderbird to work on Windows 7 for a few weeks now (not continuous, but I've tried several times during this period.) He said: it could not find the server settings. All parameters to be entered are correct (and checked dozens of times.) The same settings work on the same computer in Windows 8.1 and Mailbird (but I don't) on Windows 7. I checked with my email provider settings and they are correct, not to mention that they match Thunderbird on Windows 8.1 on the same machine.

I tried to disable the firewall of Windows 7, but that did not help. I also tried a second account with essentially the same settings except the e-mail address and that does not work either. Don't know what else to try. Any ideas?

Try to set security outbound for authentication and SSL/TLS for inbound and outbound on "Normal password. The reason why your method fails maybe because the usual guarantee for a server out on port 587 is STARTTLS, not SSL/TLS. Of course, the instructions below may be erroneous, in that case try STARTTLS on port 587.
