The Apple virus warns real?

On my Mac Book Pro El Capitan 10.11.4 running, I got this pop-up warning. A Web site you already visited today has infected your Mac with a virus. A complete analysis of the system is now needed to find and remove applications or harmful files from your OS X. Is this true? I scanned with Malwarebytes and it found nothing.  The warning showed the device information: brand: Apple Macbook Pro camera; Safari 9; an IP address; the ISP; Location of the State in the United States.  Thanks for your help

No, this warning will be a scam.

Force Quit Safari, then restart Safari all holding the key th eshift.

  • Clampi virus is real?

My computer froze and a window with a warning jumped on a security breach with an error code and a phone number to call. I called the number and was put in touch with My Tech Bay. They said that I had the Clampi virus and showed me that it was in my system. They consulted my computer remotely and fixed everything. I bought one year of support that they said was an Apple extended warranty. Now I wonder if it is all legitimate. My computer is locked and now it works fine, BUT...

    Sorry, but you've been scammed.

Contact your bank to determine measures to deal with the fraud.

Restore your computer to a backup prior to the intrusion by the criminals.

Change all passwords for accounts that may have been accessed from that computer.

  • SCAM: Popup 'Apple security warning' in Safari

There is an online scam targeting OSX users via a popup of Safari:

    Apple security warning *.

    Browser blocked for security reasons.

Please ensure that you do not restart your computer to avoid any loss of data and system. Generated by the automatic warning system. Ignoring will cause permanent damage to the system.

Do NOT call this number, it's a scam.

The popup itself exceeds the size of the screen, so that the 'Cancel' button is unclickable, but even dismissing it with other methods (like ESC) make it appear again.  You must quit Safari and restart while now Shift to prevent bad page load again.  For reference, the URL was "https://storage.googleapis.com/systemconfigirationrequiredduetomjaorissues/mac/i ndex.html" but please do not visit!

I had a friend who fell for her, and she gave these people $ 300 to "solve" the problem.  More painful, she followed the instructions of granting them access to his computer remotely.  Upon learning this, I got it to restore all of the backup system (TYMV Time Machine!) and she is trying to change all his passwords.

The money went to a China-based payment processing intermediate, and scammers sent him to DocuSign to "confirm the work has been accomplished."  I guess that these measures are taken to make it difficult to recover the funds, even if his credit card company have indicated that they would probably reverse charge.

The good news is that I've just updated to the last Safari (9.0.2), and now the popup may be rejected:

I honestly don't know if this was something has changed in Safari, or if the code was different; This time, he started to READ THE MESSAGE aloud in a loop, I so was very happy to be able to reject.

The same scam appeared on my iMac. And looking over 2500 views on this page, I suspect that many other people had the same thing happen to them. I was wondering if Apple, which has labor behind them, can do something. Hope that at least they have air in it.

  • Restore from iCloud after change of the Apple ID

    Hi Experts

Some time ago I went to a different ISP, and I had to pass the email address that I could no longer use the old address of my former ISP. Because of that I had to also change the email address used for my Apple ID. I followed the instructions in the support article inviting you to disconnect all Apple devices before changing the address.

Today I accidentally deleted some photos from my iPhone as I transfer me other photos on my Mac. I thought that it was no problem since I use iCloud backup to my iPhone and it comes to make a backup. However when you restore the backup I am invited for the password to my old Apple ID (my old email address) in order to restore purchases. But this email address no longer exists I've just updated my Apple ID current with my new email address when I switched to the new ISP.

I think I saw somewhere that Apple ID it is related to the purchase/app which is also very good - but since it's the real e-mail address and not a kind of SID, who seems to be a problem when you try to restore the backup to iCloud.

Do you know if there is a way around this?

Even if the e-mail account does not exist - if you can - I recommend trying the password to the old account on the iCloud ask - if you haven't tried this already of course using the old email ID

If you continue to have problems then I would contact Apple security and they can help you win your journal in iCloud

  • iMac 8.1 stuck on the apple logo

    Model: iMac8, 1

2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

At 2BG memory when the problem started

    Mountain Lion 10.8.5

Is in trouble with occasional frosts. Would be closed and it should restart very well. About 2 weeks ago, the computer froze. I shut down the computer and restarted. The apple logo came with the spinning wheel, and then just the apple logo.

I can start safe mode. Tried resetting the PRAM, reset of SCM. Tried to start with all peripherals except keyboard and mouse disconnected. Use the command R to start the computer and went into the disc utilities. Disc checked and it said disc looks OK. Verified permissions. Mistakes came for iTunes more a warning which was not repairable. Fixed permissions. None of these permits to start properly.

Parle talked anyone computer repair who suggested to unplug the computer, hold the power button while up to one minute, plug the computer back in and pressing the Start button. It came in fine. A few days letter that the computer froze and I had to stop it. You press the Start button, got the spinning wheel, so only the apple logo and apple logo. Start the computer by pressing command + R and reinstalled Mountain Lion. Installation once it stuck at the apple logo again. Active disk. Drive seems to be OK. Permission verified. Permission with iTunes but issues no warning this time. Repaired permissions. Nada.

Inserted the installation disk, turned on the computer while holding D key. A ran Apple Hardware tools (tests of short or long). This error message came up twice with different numbers of rpm: 4MOT/1/40000003: drive HARD-110. I know that it's the hard drive fan. Computer repair man came out. Thought problem may be because I only had 2 GB of memory and ran only to open the Lion of mountain with several programs. Upgrade to 4 GB memory, which is recognized by the computer. But the computer still does not start correctly. Tried the Single Mode and run/sbin/fsck - fy. Said it seemed OK, but changed the volume. Ran he says once again and everything seemed OK. Still will not start.

When I start in the disc, part of the grey background Utilities is missing. If you move the cursor on the screen, the gray background fills.

Also, when I try from normally I get startup chime, the apple logo and the spinning wheel. After that make a spin the wheel stops, there is sort of a Flash, then the wheel goes and remains the apple logo. I can hear the computer tries to do something, then the arrow cursor appears and can be moved around the screen. It's like that.

Also installed Mountain Lion on a USB key, it made the startup disk and tried to start the computer normally. Still will not start.

Any ideas or suggestions for what could be wrong or other things to try?

    1. the present proceedings is a diagnostic test. It doesn't change anything for the better or worse and therefore, by itself, will not solve the problem. But with the help of the results of the tests, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.

The test works on OS X 10.8 ("Mountain Lion") and later versions. I do not recommend running it on older versions of Mac OS X. It will do no harm, but it will not do not much good.

Do not be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You make the tasks more complicated with the computer all the time.

    2. If you do not already have a current backup, please back up all the data before doing anything else. The backup is needed on the general principle, not because of what anyone in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you encounter any kind of problems with the computer, you can be more than the usual loss of data, if you follow these instructions or risk not.

There are ways to back up a computer that is not fully functional. Ask if you need advice.

3 here is instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it doesn't change anything. It does not send or receive data over the network. There is no to generate a report on the State of the computer human readable. This report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents for me or someone else.

You should ask yourself if you can believe me, and if it is safe to run a program at the request of a foreign national. In general, no, he's not sure, and I encourage it.

In this case, however, there are ways for you to decide if the program is safe without having to trust me. First of all, you can read it. Unlike an application that download you and click to start, it is transparent, anyone familiar with the code can check what it does.

You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this site several times over a period of years. One of the million registered users to have read the script and set off the alarm if it was dangerous. Then I wouldn't be here now, and you would not be reading this message. See, e.g., this discussion.

However, if you cannot satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, do not follow them. Ask other solutions.

    4. here is a general summary of what you need to do, if you decide to go forward:

☞ Copy text from a particular web page (not this one) to the Clipboard.

☞ Paste into the window to another application.

☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.

☞ Stick the results, which will be copied automatically, in a response on this page.

These are not specific instructions; just a glimpse. The details are in parts 7 and 8 of this comment. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait and paste it again. You don't need to copy a second time.

    5. try to test in conditions that replicate the problem, to the extent possible. For example, if the computer is slow intermittently, run the test during a downturn.

You may have started up in safe mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works pretty well in normal mode to test run, restart as usual before running it. If you can test only in safe mode, this.

    6. If you have more than one user and a user is affected by the problem, and the user is not an administrator, and then run the test twice: once under the affected user and one administrator. The results can be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer, when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you are unable to log in as an administrator, verify that the user concerned. More personal Mac have only one user, and in this case this section does not apply. Don't log in as root.

7 load the linked web page (the site "Pastebin.") Press the combination of keys command + A to select all the text, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing command-C.

    8. start the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name ("Terminal") in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Click anywhere in the Terminal window to activate it. Paste from the Clipboard into the window by pressing Command + V, then press return. The text that you pasted should disappear immediately.

    9. If you logged in as an administrator, you will be prompted for your login password. Nothing displayed when you type. You won't see the usual points instead of the characters typed. Make sure that caps lock is turned off. Type carefully, and then press return. You can get a warning to be careful. If you make three unsuccessful attempts to enter the password, the test is still running, but it will produce less information. If you do not know the password, or if you prefer not to enter, just press back three times at the password prompt. Yet once again, the script will run.

If the test takes much longer that usual to run because the computer is very slow, you can be prompted for your password a second time. The permission you grant by entering it will expire automatically after five minutes.

If you are not logged as an administrator, you will be prompted for a password. The test will run. It just will not do anything that requires administrator privileges.

    10. the test may take a few minutes to run, depending on the number of files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that is abnormally slow may take more time to run the test. During execution, a series of lines is displayed in the Terminal window like this:

        Test started
            Part 1 of 4 done at: … sec        …        Part 4 of 4 done at: … sec
The test results are on the Clipboard.
        Please close this window.

The intervals between the parties will not be exactly the same, but they give an approximate indication of progress.

Wait for the final message "Please close this window" appear - again, usually within a few minutes. If you don't see this message in about 30 minutes, the test probably won't be completed within a reasonable time. In this case, press the Ctrl + C key combination or the point command to stop it. Then go to the next step. You will have incomplete results, but still something.

In order to get results, the test should be allowed to perform or be stopped manually as shown above. If you close the window of the Terminal, while the test is still running, the partial results will not be saved.

    11. when the test is completed, or if you manually stopped, leaving the Terminal. The results have been saved to the Clipboard automatically. They do not appear in the Terminal window. Please do not copy from there. All you have to do is start a response to this comment and then paste it again by pressing Command-V.

At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words «Start time.» If you do not see that, but rather to see a mass of gibberish, you wait for the message "close this window". Please wait and try again.

If personal information, such as your name or e-mail address, appear in the results, make anonymous before posting. Usually it will be not necessary.

    12. in the validation of the results, you see an error message on the web page: "you have included content in your post that is not allowed", or "the message contains invalid characters." It's a bug in the software which manages this website. Thanks for posting the results of the tests on Pastebin, then post here a link to the page you created.

If you have an account on Pastebin, please do not select private in exposure menu to paste on the page, because no one else that you will be able to see it.

    13. When you are finished with the test, it is gone. There is nothing to uninstall or clean.

    14. This is a public forum and others can give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak for themselves, not for me. The test itself is harmless, but all that you can not be. For others who choose to run it, I do not recommend that you view the results of test on this Web site unless I ask.

    15. the related UNIX shell script is a notice of copyright. ASC readers can copy for their personal use. The whole nor any part can be redistributed.

I'm really getting upset with Apple confused password security protocols.  It lasts for years and I need to know the terminology and protocols for different Apple applications.  After be locked and need to reset, I learn only that there are different protocols for:

    • iCloud
    • Apple TV
    • This forum
    • iTunes
    • Forum iPad
    • Maybe others

    Apparently, there are different terms:

    • Apple ID
    • Username
    • Password
    • iCloud security code
    • Maybe others

I wrote various combinations of my email, username, PW, cryptogram, Apple ID and perhaps other safety information.  They are not the same for different Apple products.  If I do the incorrect entries for a small number of tests, I get locked and am forced to reset the terms.  Then, I use the new conditions for a different product or a utility and get locked again.

Can someone direct me to a site that lists the 1. Apple product/utility (AppleTV, iTunes, forums, etc.) and 2. the term used for safety (PW/user/email/ID Apple/etc name) and which combination of these elements is acceptable?

Also, continuing my rants, it would be good if the Connect dialog box would be easier to use and warn the user of the number of trials authorized and an indication of the correct answer as "usually your email" or "case sensitive" or "L * 02".»  I can't believe that robots or hackers are so sophisticated that it can crack most of the indicators that provide other sites.

There are a few things that have changed a few years ago:

You can choose to limit the number of AppleIDs to an AppleID; If you have two.

They can be combined; I have only one. Don't see a need right now to learn more.

Unless your situation has changed by intention or by accident.

It's a problem for a few years; There are new solutions to some, now:

Even if someone is old AppleID is based on an address email of non-working, which can

be changed; Apple support has articles and if you happen to have a new product

their best help is free, if you can ask a question that relates to the newest one.

Sometimes an older password will have been too easy for someone to guess or something.

An automated system that can run through dozens of probable combinations a second, one

kind of like a phone dialer automated, but more sophisticated, can possibly guess a lot.

If it's a good idea to change your passwords to connect & use juxtapositions of letter/number.

A little over a year ago, when I bought a new Apple product and asked

use only he, my password was deemed not safe; changing it & then found

my name associated with features I had no intent to use, (he signed me up to iCloud, etc.)

I had to change the password again to a more complex than the previous. And for some

reason, the Apple system he treated as a completely new AppleID. If the account is not affected.

There is a little financial investment by some detective for private information and

of them are not supposed to do this according to the rules of law. Others have paralegal rights

to think that they can do, and then there are these adware scams where people give up everything

their passwords and access computer or peripheral rather than learn how to remove the pop up windows.

Because there are several angles, simple things involve practices secure to avoid user

the bad guys to get an advantage. And avoid giving too many different pieces of the

puzzle online because they can be easily locked to new car computers to do.

    (Avoid calling a phone number in a pop-up message to scam on the computer, for example;

the scam of cale-hostage initially is easily ignored by force – enough of the browser; then launch

the browser with extensions disabled; "or with physically cut internet access).

Anyway, I'm not sure that I answered no questions, but the links above explain the most recent

security aspects in the relationship between devices and Macs; and the sharing of information between

them is also an area where caution is required. Avoid sell or give a device

or a computer unless you have actually done ready for resale; by Apple support articles.

I hope that you will get answers to the questions you are asking here.

    Good luck in this case!

  • I try and put music on my phone through the Apple music and it says something about waiting for 90 days. Anyone know what it is or how to ignore it?

I try and put music on my phone through the Apple music and it says something about waiting for 90 days. Anyone know what it is or how to ignore it?

Looks like you may have recently changes your Apple ID you use iTunes on your iPhone.  When you change this ID, you are locked for 90 days.  You can change to another code, but you can download past purchases or save the content on your device until the expiry of this original lock.  When you change IDs the first time it is a nice warning that appears and asks if you are sure that you'll be locked in this ID for 90 days.  There is no way around the lock, other only of waiting.  I think that this prevents you form jittering in all your Apple ID friends and just download all, but that's probably what you're going through right now.  Good luck!

  • Can u put the Apple Watch mode bedside table without getting the dock?

I Haz one question I am about to get a Apple Watch for my birthday

    question, version 1

can u put the Apple Watch mode bedside table with the original charger, or get the dock from Apple?

    Hello

Yes - you can put Apple Watch mode table bedside without having to buy the Apple (or other) docking station.

To place your watch mode bedside table:

    • Make sure the option is turned on: on your iPhone, in the application of the watch, go to My Watch (tab) > General > scroll mode bedside table.
    • Connect your watch to its charger (with power connected):
      • Place your watch on the side with the buttons facing up.
    • To see the time, tap the screen or slightly shift your watch:
      • By design, when the watch is in this mode, pushing even your bedside table may be sufficient.
    • If you also set an alarm with the alarm clock app on your watch, it will warn you at the specified time.
