  I have an application that stores data in an Excel worksheet by using the report generation tool.  My VI have worked well in the past using Excel XP, but since I have upgraded to Excel 2007, I get COM errors like this:

  "2147417842 error occurred while the application called an interface that was marshalled for a different thread. in Excel_Insert_Text.vi', this is the exact wording, even with the odd punctuation and capitalization.

  The first occurrence of the error is not determined.  Sometimes, to the record 10 sessions, involving a new .xls file, may occur before this error.  Once this error occurs, I must leave LabVIEW to solve.  If I try to do something with Excel, I still get this error, even if sometimes it comes out different source Excel_Open.VI is another.

  These screw logging worked fine until upgrading to Excel 2007.  I checked and I have been using a very old version of the report generation tool, v1.0.1.  I read the documentation and had a big sigh of relief when I realized that I needed to upgrade to v1.1.2 for Excel 2007 help.  However, even after the upgrade, I still get the same errors.  I'm using LabVIEW 8.0.1 and I also build these screws in an application.   The error occurs in the application built both in the IDE of LabVIEW.  Anyone out there have any idea what I can do to fix this?  I google a bit and discovered it is a COM error, but I can't find any reference to the report generation tool specifically.

  Here's what I did: I left privileged execution environment level upper VI as "as the appellant.  I tried the "user interface" configuration, but it seemed to slow down considerably the program.

  Then, I found each sub - VI, calling the report generation tool and define the environment for running favorite "user interface".  All the errors went away, and the program is much happier now.

  usually the part without head does not reference libraries of stunts because they have a serious memory footprint.
  The part without being limited in memory head, which gives it its own UI isn't usually a good idea.

  1 should we call tpabort after receiving a signal such as SIGSEGV (for services called by TMQFORWARD)?
  * its like we shouldn't because we are not the owner of the transaction. (TMQFORWARD is the owner of the transaction)
  
  2. should call the tpabort after receiving a signal such as SIGSEGV (for services to manually control the transaction IE tpbegin\tpcommit\tpabort call)?

  Tuxedo adheres to the XA standard which requires enabled transaction semantics. Specifically what this means is:

  1 tpabort() and tpcommit() can be done by the caller of tpbegin(), that is, the aborter or the validator of the transaction must be at the same level called tpbegin(). So yes, if your service has been called by TMQFORWARD and TMQFORWARD have started the operation, the only option that your service must abandon the transaction is to perform a tpreturn with TPFAIL as the return code.

  2. all activities within the transaction must end before the tpabort() or tpcommit(). In other words, you can complete a transaction so that there is an exceptional activity such as service performed with tpacall() calls. This probably is not directly apply to you.

  In all honesty, if you receive a SIGSEGV signal, shouldn't the server just roll up and die? I mean that you really want the server to continue processing requests if he tried to access a memory that he should not have consulted? In this case your signal handler must get out the entire process. If current service vehicle was in a transaction, the transaction will be marked rollback only and will fail to commit whenever the beginner of the transaction tries to validate the transactions (for example, a TRANSCENDING transaction).

  I have two servers with Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 (prod and dev) I want to copy the application called "BFS" Production of "NewBFS" - Dev server.
  
  As directed by our consultants, they said to do the following:
  
  1. backup the repository database that contains the application production BFS
  2 do a restore of the .bak file to "NewBFS" on the dev server database
  3. resync orphaned connections (from sql server connections and database connections)
  4 Ouvrezunesession planning via the default admin user ID
  5. go in the app's settings and change the URL
  6 enter the Shared Services URL
  7 manage the database
  8 check all the boxes and click Refresh
  9 go to SSP and resynchronize the native directory users
  
  However then try to connect in planning with something other than «admin", we receive an error «user xx is not configured...» »
  
  From my experience of db user tables are either still referencing production and/or do not have resynced correctly.
  
  If long story short... I can restore a planning application to another server, and if so what is the supported/best practices?

• Call any thread DLLs the application crashes

  I have a built in 2015-labview application that acquires spectra of 6 spectrometers via an external dll. The dll triggers an event in labview when data is ready to be pulled from the spectrometers. Since this event, I am running a reentry no void / vi which contains a node function to retrieve the data, that are configured to run in any thread, as it gives a drastic improvement of performance as apposed to run in the UI thread.

  However this can slow down the application crash with a message from windows like the following journal:

  I don't know if the dll is said to be thread safe or not. Also I do not understand how this causes a problem anyway since it is the only node that accesses the dll at the time, and each of the 6 spectrometers are interviewed in order?

  Is there anyway that I can still enjoy the benefits that the call of any thread dll provides without causing my application crash.

  An example of the increase in performance, it's that I can query the spectrometer from 6 to 70-80 Hz when configured to run in any thread, as opposed to a simple 10 Hz when the Run value in the UI thread.

  Looks like that the DLL is not thread-safe. If you do not run in the UI thread, there is no guarantee that the DLL will be always called from the same thread, even if you only call it in one no reentrante Subvi. By default, LabVIEW allocates multiple threads by the enforcement system, with the exception of the user interface. If the DLL stores certain information of one call to the other, this context can be lost when run in a different thread.

  Here's a thread that provides two possible solutions; a wrapper DLL is required, use the other the utility 'threadconfig' (or the corresponding INI file settings) to force a subsystem of a thread executing unique http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Force-DLLs-to-tun-in-the-same-thread-expect-the-UI-Thread/td-p/11438...

  Another option would be to put the call to the DLL in a timed loop that runs constantly, and you can use a queue or the notifier to pass data to. A timed loop runs in a single dedicated thread, so I think it will work.

  Call a DLL with function of library to call that requires a data table to work properly in Labview, but after building an exe with the application generator, the call no longer works.  Dereferecing the pointer in the DLL returns all values 0 and not the real.

  So finally figured it out.  It seems that you cannot use the utilities of pointer in an exe built such asGetValueByPointer.xnode.  Once I replaced the calls with calls to DSNewPtr and MoveBlock library, everything works as expected.

  I tried the following scenario: in the main application I added logic to download the library programmatically. But something I missunderstood around that. So, I'm first to download my application that depends on the library then I thought to check in the constructor, if the library exists then activate the app if not then download the lib and restarts the device.

  My problem now is if I call a list of class of the library, then the app not working and would be lifted except that «the application contains errors of audit»

  I have an app that chooses his 'background or foreground behavior depends on its entry points.

I just return origin as it does without the "fix."

  If I take the 'acceptsForeground()' replace the sequence of mapfield BBMaps and back runs as expected, but the version of the application background appears in 'Application Switch' which I don't want.

  Sorry I disappeared for a bit, I was faced with the emphasis on a mapfield as I had to pay to send this request to the UAT.

  In any case, the problem is solved, but in a strange way.

  When the problem occurred, I was stating the application variable before using it immediately. Once I moved the statement immediately after the start of the main method and assigned null in the declaration, all the rest worked as announced.

  What I'll be able to do, is to guarantee I have not had not previously forced the JVM to assess the class too early, causing some uninitialized fields to be null (i.e. what the call of acceptsForeground() substituted sometimes generated 'on the fly'). Various calls to the methods referencing fields may have forced the assessment. With the assignment statement and nothing happening really early I also assume that the assessment by the JVM is complete and correct. The application manager did not have a chance to enter in conflict with the main method.

  I think we can close this post and I thank you for your suggestions and help. Its always good to have a different perspective.

  But when trying to call apex_lang.update_translated_string from an application (with or without the security_group_id) APEX, nothing happens. No error message, the process is complete, but the string in the filing of the translation has not changed. Same effect for other api call that I mentioned. I tried the different authentication scheme in my application: DB account, users of the APEX, custom.

  An idea or a clue on what I'm missing here?

  Dear Mr. Rokitta,

  I tested myself on apex.oracle.com just now, and I had no problem using your anonymous PL/SQL block to update the chain of my filing of translation.  It worked successfully to these two SQL commands in SQL Workshop and also inside an APEX application running.  I also looked at the underlying code, and it's so simple - also long the security_group_id is set correctly, the specified ID is valid and the language code is the code of language of the APEX_APPLICATION_TRANS_REPOS chain, the update should go ahead.

  If set you a test on apex.oracle.com case where this would have been does not work, I would be happy to take a look.
