Update for Premiere Pro CC 2015 (9.2) for a fix.
I have a Dell all-in-one that I had to send for a new motherboard. While they have it, I got them the reformat. I'm trying to put Skype on it, but I get this error message once downloaded and when trying to install: " ", ", the application failed to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application. " I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. None of my other programs I had to reinstall caused me a bit of trouble, but Skype won't move past this error message. Any help would be appreciated.
I thought about it. I couldn't install it from Chrome, but I did of IE and it's fine now.
I have a problem that only occurs during the closing down. When I select Shut Down I soon get a pop up that says... the application could not start correctly (0xc0000142) click on OK to close the application. window label is cmd.exe. Whether I click on the window, closing down product and eventually after say 30 seconds the alarm disappears. clicking on the alert simply displays another alert. This only occurs during the closing down. Also, I have no problem to launch cmd.exe during the normal operation, or any other program running in the command window. I read a few posts but don't see anything exactly like this, what happens during closing down.
Suggestions would be appreciated. EricHelloPlease check if you are facing the same question when working in safe mode.

How to fix the application could not start correctly (0xc0000142) in win 7
Hello Pramod V. Bennett,
Sometimes, this error can be caused by trying to install a software that is not compatible with Windows 7.
You can try the following methods:
If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.
Use the following steps:
(1) right click on the program
2) click Properties
3) click on the Compatibility tab
(4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.
Check out the link here: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows
If you are running Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate version, install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx) and run your software in Windows XP.
If you run Windows 7 Home Premium, try VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org) or VMware Player (www.vmware.com), or any other software virtualization part 3rd and install a separate copy of Windows XP (family or professional edition) for this purpose. You can find the virtualization software free that will run on Windows 7 Home Premium.
I hope this helps.

I'm on a 64-bit Windows 7 Pro computer and just upgraded to the most recent Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. When I open a PDF file a window opens saying "the application could not start (0xc0000005). Click OK to close this application"I click OK and the window opens up again about three or four times before it finally stopped. My PDF file is then visible. This is driving me crazy! I tried to use "Repair Installation" in the Menu Help, but it has no effect. I downloaded and installed the latest update - and this miserable message keeps popping up! Before you do a system restore to revert to the previous version, can someone please tell me how to solve this problem? Thank you very much.
There might be a chance of the previous version left overs. Try uninstalling Acrobat using cleaning tool: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then try to reinstall it and then see if that solves the problem.
I have the above error, I don't use host character for a very long time (since Preview 3), so I don't know when or what exactly caused the problem... all other adobe software work fine (AE, Pr, Ps,...)

I get this error after I entered my password to connect. Then the screen goes black. I can hit ctrl-alt-del to get the menu, but no matter what link I click I get the same error code. I use the 32-bit version of Windows 7.

Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to initialize the store directory. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Error code: 0 x 80007114
Operating system Windows XP, at startup, I get the message: "Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to initialize the store directory. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full"and displays the error code: 0 x 80007114. (I have a new drive hard with enough space) Outlook Express always open well and functioning normally. The message mentions and how to fix the problem? Thank you, Rick
Jump here (nothing Bruce suggested is false), I did a search and found this old article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/245419), which indicates that there is a bad entry under the identity key in the registry (see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx for background). So if it's a big problem, you can do the steps suggested in this article and that will fix it. Or if you have just one account, then backup your settings and the identity key and then delete the identity key and then start OE and it will establish a new, and you can then set up your account again, and then import the messages from the older directory. But it does not indicate the major corruption, so you can just ignore it.
I recently to get this error when opening in 2012 of LabView. I get two different error messages. The first said "the application failed to start because MSVCP100.» DLL was not found. Re-installing this application may fix the problem. "The other message says the same thing, but it's ATL100. DLL is not found.
I think that these files are part of the C run-time engine, but I don't know what I have to install to solve this problem.
I think you are right that these files are part of a runtime engine; specifically, the C++ runtime library. Relocation of these libraries could certainly mitigate these errors you see.

I would like to know how it works!
I have window Vista and wireless internet in my house. The icon that shows if you are connected to the internet has a red x in the way in and he says: "State of the unknown connection of dependency service or group failed to start" I'm sometimes still connected to the internet when it says this, but it disconnects while I'm in the middle of something and I have to re start the computer to get it back. I continue to have the right message.
I tried to disable the firewall.and it does not make a difference. Not sure if this helps, but I have Trendmicro Antivirus and spy sweeper from webroot on the computer. I thought that maybe it was the internet provider, but we went from companies and it has changed nothing.

I was doing a winpeshl.exe.error when starting "the application was not properly initialze (0xc0000006). "Click to complete the application" when I click ok it reboots. I can even recover the system, tried F8 startup, alt/F10, F2, launch repair system, Safe Mode and all the rest and still get the same error. System specs are Acer Aspire 5920, Intel T5450 processor, 2 GB ram, 160 GB of HDD, windows vista edition Home premium. I am currently under the memory diagnostic tool windows, but it is said that the test results will be displayed again once you log in, but I can't log in to view them.
