The attention! Error initializing PCI express slot 4 (for a PCIe used in the PXI-1033 chassis)

Hello

I have problems with my PXI system. When I try to contact the 1033 chassis using his high card my computer does not recognize (the PC displays the message during the start-up stage: "alert!) Error Initializing PCI express Slot 4). It was working fine before, but the chassis has been disconected with the PC on. I read that it may cause failures of communication, but I have not found a good source for this problem. Could someone help me with this problem?

Thank you very much!

Victor

Hi Victor,

Can you check something for me? One, can you try to disconnect the cable between the PXI and PCIe cards and try to restart your machine. When you do this, you still see the message? I know that you mentioned in your first point that the chassis is turned on when you see the error message, so I'm just trying to clarify what you mean by that.

Also, it is quite easy to plug in a cable express MXI upside down, so even if point 2 you said that the links appear to be good I had to check to make sure that the cable is properly connected. You have additional cables, you can test?

  • Modules in the PXI-1033 chassis detection problem

    Hello

I met difficulties in operating my PXI-1033, which installed two strips of XIA Pixie-4. Until recently the system was working properly, but now I am unable to detect and use modules using software of XIA, although according to Windows both modules are "working properly". Nothing has changed between the time it was working and now (that I know)!

I suspect the problem involves the chassis, since when I place a module in slot 6, the chassis will not be powered. It will power-up with any other occupied housing.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    See you soon.

    Hello jnod,

At these modules never appear in measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), if so they appear actually now?

Also if you have other material, I'd be interested to know if the PXI chassis will start when you have a module IN slot 6.

The chassis won't start when either module Pixie-4 is in slot 6?

You probably already know, but turn you on the chassis PXI before you have activated on your computer?

  • Automatic shutdown of the PXI-1033 chassis. Noisy case fan.

I went to use my PXI chassis today. I always keep power, but today it wasn't on when I went to for use. It turns out that there is an auto power down if the fan "fails". So, I removed the power to frame and then repowered the chassis. Heard a loud fan - as one of the blades reached something solid. And I only heard something when the chassis in the sense of 'big fan down' is the big fan on the "merits" of the unit which cools the boards. To resolve this problem, I removed the air filter and then the wire screen and then wire fan guard. I rebent the 4 feet of the wire fan Guard (be sure to rebend both elbows on each leg) so that it is wider the fan blades. Put back to gether and now no sound.

Apparently my PXI chassis is part of a reminder "replacing the fan.

  • Simulate the PXI-1033

    Good afternoon

I need some clarification on the simulation of PXI via MAX.   I have several PXI modules and a PXI-1033 (integrated into the PCIe MXI) chassis on command.   As they will take several weeks to arrive, of course, I want to simulate these devices and to start building screws

If I understand correctly the information contained in the knowledge base and forums, all I have to do is to simulate modules PXI themselves in MAX and nothing to simulate PXI-1033 chassis.

Is this correct?   Guarantees as to any would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Zach

    Hey Zach,.

You are right. We cannot simulate a PXI-1033 chassis, but because it's just an expansion chassis, there is no need to. You can simulate the modules themselves in MAX under DAQmx devices and then you should be able to start writing code.

    Good luck and thanks,

  • Difficulties in finding devices on the PXI-1033

When looking at the measurement and Automation devices explore my NI PXI-7853R and 128Mux (PXI-2532) seems to work very well. However, when you load a project, Labview FPGA the new project wizard displays the error:

No PXI controller have been found on the network.  Ensure that your PXI controller is correctly configured in MAX and try again.

dependencies the option 'R series Intelligent DAQ PXI real-time '.

A similar promblem arises when you use NISwitch, simply, it does not find the PXI-2532 module.

With labview, I have been able, for example using an example, reassociate the device and managed to compile a race as part of an existing project.

However, to my knowledge, there is no way to do it with NISwitch.

I tried to solve the problem by restarting the computer several times. Also tried re-installing the drivers NI Switch as well, with no luck

    Hi Jayem,

It seems that you have a few different things and possibly multiple systems.  Can you please provide more details about your concerns and your setup (s)?  Where the creation of project FPGA (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/6358) you receive the error?

  • PXI-8115 controller incompatible with the PXI-1050 chassis?

I replaced two XP based PXI controllers with two controllers, PXI-8115 with WIN7 installed on them. System #1 has combined PXI-1010 chassis and System #2 has a combo chassis PXI-1050 chassis. The two 8115 controllers work correctly when it is installed in the #1 system (chassis 1010) do not produce but no video output when it is installed in the #2 system (chassis 1050). I use the same monitor on both systems, as well as the same adapter DisplayPort to VGA supplied with controllers. This suggests some kind of incompatibility between the 8115 and the 1050, but I can't believe I'm the first to connect a 8115 a 1050. Everyone knows about this problem? Y at - it solution or workaround? Is there something I forgot?

    Thank you

    PMAC

OK, I found a solution but I still don't know why it is the solution.

Each controller had a "Bizlink" adapter DisplayPort to VGA bundled with it. Of course, I tried two adapters with the same results on both systems. I tried a "Startech" DP to VGA that is used elsewhere in the installation and the system worked well. Why a brand different adapter works is quite confusing.

For anyone else having this problem try Startech manufacturer DP2VGA.

  • Why does take so long to clear a task (with the DMA transfer) using the PXI bus?

I am migrating from a system that has the habit of using a PCI-6133 (8 channels HAVE simultaneous) and PCI-6733 (8 channels AO) to one that uses a PXI-6133 and PXI-6733 mounted in a PXI-1033 chassis.

In general, things seem to be working (synchronized I / AO to run near the maximum speed on both devices), with the exception that the compensation an AO task on the PXI-6733 takes always (the order of 20-30 seconds).

Even when I try the generation of the sine wave for the PXI-6733 in MAX test Panel, it takes the same amount of time to stop the task. If I switch to the use of interrupts as transfer mechanism, it stops immediately.

I tried to use the transfer mechanism of interruption on my more demanding set of synchronized tasks, but that does not produce good behavior (even if he doesn't give any errors).

Is there a trick (or the best diagnosis) to help get my tasks working with DMA under PXI that worked very well on PCI?

    Thanks in advance!

Thank you, Patrick. I tried on another computer (Dell T5400) and everything worked as expected. I think that the problems I have experienced on the first computer were due to a conflict with a PXI driver for another card I have not installed during my tests (and which I did not know was PXI, but he appeared as a PXI device in M & A once I put it in it should have a kind of PCI - PXI bridge internal?). So ultimately, pure card / slot / pilot shenanigans and everything seems to be fine now.

Also, we prefer to use our own controller (Linix based) shipped without a slot for a PXI card (if possible). Is there like a simple series or ethernet interface to control the boards housed in the PXI-1042 chassis? The switching speed is very low, it is part of a manufacturing test system, we want to use the PXI-1042 with several 6 x 1 Mux inside for instruments RF switching in of the DUT.

    Hi eirlund,

    In response to your questions:

Is there a simple series or ethernet interface to control the boards housed in the PXI-1042 chassis?

    • Chassis PXI itself contains only the connections for the PXI bus and some timing and triggering and power for the cards. This white paper explains the PXI architecture in many more details: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/52018/en/

    • In order to be interfaced with the cards that you need to use a controller Embedded PXI or a remote control which allows you to use another computer in place and place an on-board controller. A remote control can be easier to apply to what you're after however there are some limitations regarding the use under Linux. More information on what the remote controllers can be found here: http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/10359

We want to use our own code, not of LabView, just plain 'C '.

    • You should always use the relevant drivers for the hardware you are using, in this case NOR-Switch and NI PXI Platform Services if you are using a remote control.

    • These drivers work with LabWindows/CVI which adds additional tools to facilitate the programming intended for the material OR in C, this means that it should be possible to use these drivers of C, but there is less evidence for this

Also, we prefer to use our own controller shipped (Linux-based) without a slot for a PXI card (if possible)

    • If this is possible will depend in part on the question of whether the version of Linux you are using is supported. You can look into this further here: http://www.ni.com/product-documentation/52786/en/

    • In addition, you will need a PCI slot or a slot ExpressCard to connect to a remote installation program with

I hope that this information gives you somewhere to start to consider whether what you want to do is doable?

  • Cannot replace the PXI embedded clock with clock oscillator PXI-6682 on PXI back plane

I installed a module of synchronization PXI-6682 to slot 2 of a PXI-1031chassis with a PXI-8110 controller running hypervisor and RT.  The 6682 is installed on the RT system hypervisor for GPS sync during the measurements, but I would like to ask the TCXO on the PXI-1031 chassis backplane (which replaces the PXI embedded clock).  When I try to run the "Clock.vi route" that I found in the finder of the example, all I get are error messages indicating that a parameter for this operation is not valid.  The Terminal source is "Oscillator" and terminal of destination is "PXI-Clk10_In"  How can I determine which parameter is not valid?  Any suggestions?  Thank you

    Hi vugt.

You are right that the physical switch determines which one to use and you should not have to route signals.  If you are having problems with clocks after the synchronization module 6682 please let us know!

  • Position of the PXI Module in the chassis

    Dear Forum,

I just got a new PXI-1033 chassis as well as a single PXI-6259 HAVE/AO/DIO and two PXI-2501 switch modules module.

No matter where I physically place these three modules in the chassis?

    Sincerely,

    Zach

    Zach-

So, I see you have a PXI-1033 chassis and two modules PXI (PXI-6259 and PXI-2501).  In this case, their placement is not serious.  Just a tip: If you consider the symbols in each slot, they indicate what type of device they can accept.

A symbol of circle, the location is a generic peripheral location.  A generic device location will work very well for both of your devices.

A symbol of diamond, that location is a location of triggering star.

A symbol of diamond with a circle inside means that the slot is a generic peripheral location with star triggering capabilities.  This slot machine also works for each device.

I found these definitions of machines slot in user guide NI PXI-1033 and specifications.  Check it out if you want more information than what I have provided.

  • HP dv6-3150us has a PCI express slot?

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02497785

I want to add an external graphics card and it is possible olnly via PCI Express slot or a slot express card, and this model does not have an express card slot.

I also discovered the mantanence and service guidehttp://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us & lc = in & product = 4308465 this type of models support bluetooth module, since my laptop doesn't have a bluetooth, is it possible that the PCI Express slot for the bluetooth module is empty.

And I would like to know if it is possible for me to add an external graphics card or I need to change the graphc card that comes with this laptop?

There is no way to change or supplement the graphics system. I've seen the videos floating around devices of Frankenstein connected to the card slot wireless with the back cover open and then a powered external Bay with a standard desktop video card. Trying to put something like that will almost surely fry the motherboard, or at best will not perform very well. The mini pci-e slot for the wireless card is a 1 x pci-e bandwidth and video cards require 8 x bandwidth. So if you want to access a pci-e slot, you will need to remove the wireless card. Bluetooth on this model is made by a card in combination with the wireless.

Your laptop doesn't have an expresscard slot, as you acknowledge. They are available only on business models high end of our days, and the same limitations apply to have an external videocard connected through an expresscard slot.

You can change the motherboard of your laptop. You have a version with the Intel HD graphics only, and I'm sure that other versions of the series dv6-3000 used best graphics systems. You seek to a significant investment in time and money for it. Post back, however, if you want to just give it a shot and we can track down numbers of specific parts and manuals of instructions or videos for you.

  • Satellite L650 PXE - E63:error initializing the NIC - error start

I have a Satellite L650, which is 2 months old.

The motherboard makes a ticking noise (I think it's what makes noise), and when this noise occurs it causes very slow computer! It has been thus since I got it pretty well.

Today, the computer makes noise, my itunes music started to jump (it was the only program running) and the computer froze and was told that he could not find windows. When I restart my computer it runs the windows startup repair 7, found nothing wrong, and restarts the computer. When the computer restarts, the screen stays black for a long time... and then it flashes a blue screen (flash is so quick that I have no idea of what he says) and asks if I want to rerun the repair. I choose not to start windows normally... and the screen goes black for a long time, however there is no ticking noise, but it seems that nothing happens.

    If I force a reboot, I get an error message saying along the lines of;

For Atheros PCIE Ethernet controller... Check the cable connection
PXE - E63:error initializing the NIC
PXE - MOF: exit intel PXE ROM
No device bootable-insert boot disk and press eny key

    Help, please!

    > Today, the computer makes noise, my itunes music started to jump (it was the only program running) and the computer froze and was told that he could not find windows.

Sounds like the HARD drive failure.
That would explain the PXE Boot error as well.
This error occurs if the laptop tries to boot from LAN because other sources bootable couldn t be found.

In my opinion, you need to replace the HARD drive.
If the warranty is valid, get in touch with a local ASP from Toshiba and ask the new HARD drive

Hi all!  I'm upgrading graphic on the hp p6340f computer and need to know the version of the PCI-Express slot for the card that I get functions correctly.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

By checking several motherboards using the Intel G43 Express chipset (same as the one in question), they are all are rated 16 PCI-E 2.0.  The standard 3.0 is more recent than the date of reference of the manufacturer of your PC.  Some PCI-E 3.0 might be OK in this motherboard but make sure that they are backward compatible.
