The awesome bar no longer uses I'm Feeling Lucky feature of Google.

In previous versions of firefox, keywords could be typed in the awesome bar and I would be redirected using I'm feeling Lucky button of google. Recently when we update firefox, I had to go into the topic: config page and keyword.enabled change in link of I lucky. In the most recent update, however, the keyword.enabled string has been changed to a Boolean value, so I can only activate or deactivate rather than change it to I'm lucky. Allowing it supposedly will offer the same functionality, but I tried a few obvious keywords (Wiki, Google, Hotmail) and each one came with a google search instead of redirect me. I really liked this feature, and I hope that there is a way to re-implement it.

Thank you
~ Casey

I read somewhere that malware and phishing sites began to misuse of the "I m Feeling Lucky" feature So it maybe Mozilla away automatic redirect features that put users at risk.

  • I'm having a strange problem with the awesome bar

The awesome bar/address bar is as impressive as it used to be. When I start typing in a speech, it seems that he does check more through my history and gives a list of possible matches but gives just the stem of an address. For example, if I type in "goo" will end this at 'google.com' if I add this with a "/ has" it's going to end this to 'google.com/analytics ' but it is also good that he doesn't get, as I say, no history list or bookmarks.

I checked the options and also about: config and all the settings are as they should be, as far as I can tell (and I certainly had not changed any of them when he began to behave badly). I have also disabled all extensions and plug-ins.

It is driving my crazy, because I quite often use sites whose long addresses and keep in mind each of the components of each address. I would go with Chrome, but I also use Firebug, a fair bit so don't really want to do.

Of the image, it seems that there is a persistent add-on. He was re-activated?

  • How can I turn off default 1 search result in the awesome bar?

Since the release of 43, it seems that the Awesome bar fills the first result as a generic 'visit' or 'Search' for anything typed in the bar. It's very frustrating because I know where I want to go, and my search history used to fill specific sites, I went to. This new feature to the Awesome Bar takes you is a generic search engine default search, or right on the first page for a specific site.

For example, it may be a forum page that I regularly to. and in the latest Firefox would fill this page first in my results, which allows a fast navigation. However, the most recent update makes it do that the first result is a query to perform a generic search for what I typed in, or at best to take me to the first page of the site in question, make me have to either type the URL complete, favorite every page ever, I want to navigate to and just use bookmarks now or , or cross my fingers and pray that they default 1 result in the Awesome bar accurately reflects my wishes of navigation (which he never does).

    Is it possible to either:

    1. find the process that causes this 1 default result in the Awesome bar and disable/delete, preferably with extreme prejudice.

2 prevent the features of Firefox that interacts with a browser default search?

In its current form, I deliberately ignore the 1st result of the Awesome Bar, because it never fulfills what I want. Specifically, it will fill never I don't want things.

    Hi Danon72.

To disable the 'Visit' item in the list, please edit the preference browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete in The editor of Configuration of Firefox to false.

  • Cannot remove the awesome bar history

So I completely wiped my browser history, several times. But I always /all/ of my story in the awesome bar, which is just super aggravating. What can I do?

You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can delete all data stored in Firefox with a specific area through "Forget this Site" in the context menu of a history entry ("" history > view history "or" view > sidebar > History "") or via the subject: permissions page.

Using "Forget this Site" will delete all data stored in Firefox in this area as bookmarks, cookies, words of past, cache, history, and exceptions, so be careful and if you have a password or other data from that domain you don't want to lose then check that back up these data or make a comment.

You can't recover from this "forget" unless you have a backup of the files involved.

It has no lasting effect, so if come back you on such a 'forgotten' site, then the data of this Web site will be saved once more.

  • Gesture keyboard Xperia type entry (Swipe) nonfunctional in the Awesome Bar

I recently got a compact Xperia Z1 (my first android phone) and Firefox was one of the first applications to this topic.

Annoyingly gesture typing (when you drag one letter to another without lifting a finger) seems not functional in the Awesome Bar (address/search bar). However, it works perfectly well on boxes/fields of entry on websites visited.

Is it possible to allow the gesture by typing in the awesome bar?

    Hello

To disable the address bar to not display search history results. You can do this by going to Firefox-> Options-> privacy and select the option that says: "when you use the location bar suggest" and set it to "nothing". I have attached a screenshot that might make it easy for you to locate.

    I hope this helps.

  • The awesome bar does not work as it should?

When I typed in a Word, for ex, 'space', initially FF would take me to 'google search' with all the options for 'space' in this research.
Suddenly, 'parola' butted and my searches are redirected to this place.
I scoured the forums etc. They suggested "Subject: config","keyword.url". "" Then right click and the setting on 'reset'.
Well, when I do this, my "reset" function is not available. It is faded. Then I did a right click on 'modify' and type in the option only available in the forums etc to google search:

    "http://www.google.com/ig?ie=UTF-8 & oe = UTF-8 & hl = in & aig = 0 & reason = 1.

From there, when I go to the awesome bar and enter ' thespace', it does me not this 'google search' page, but need me either on my own "igoogle" page, or if I register on igoogle, it takes me to a regular google home page.

Then, I want what I searched in the search box of the google and igoogle with all available 'google' search results. "',But the search box is empty.

    What to do now?

I hope I'm clear on the issue. That I couldn't find in the forums/help pages.

    Thank you for your help.

PS. Vista, Newest version update of FF (4).

You can change the pref keyword. URL on the topic: config page to use Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" or "Browse by name" Google.

  • I don't get the Awesome Bar suggestions...

If I type something in the awesome bar, it is not give suggestions. I tried safe mode, but no change...

I use Firefox 4.0.1 but I also had the problem with 4.0 and 5.0 (beta).
    I use Windows 7 (64-bit).

Disable "AVG Safe Search", it causes problems of location bar as the ability to use 'Enter' can be a symptom of many other problems such as accidents and crashes. It is listed in the extensions problematic - MozillaZine Knowledge Base , and it must be stuck in the block list. You must follow the instructions to reinstall "AVG Free" without the "Link Scanner" component so that it will not continue to be a problem with the new profiles or new versions of Firefox. Compensation for the "AVG" antivirus version has an option to disable the 'feature '.

Don't know if that will solve your problem, but try it first.

Safe mode would have stopped the extension so it's not the immediate problem.

    Back to immediate problem

    1. Make sure that you are not in private browsing
    2. Make sure you're history and not clearing it

  • The awesome bar in FF4 does not display the URL of the previous page visited the current.

The awesome bar to view the URL of the visited page, given that the upgrade to 4 FF is no longer the fact. It displays the URL of the first page visited say a goodle search so if you navigate to another page or return to the search results, it continues to display the URL of the old or none at all.

A few possible causes. There may be an add-on that is not compatible with Firefox 4 the cause. For details of how to troubleshoot see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

The URL does not update can also be caused if there is a problem with the file that stores the browsing history and bookmarks. To see if this is the case, open your profile file, for more details on how to find this see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

Now, close Firefox and places.sqlite and rename it places.sqlite.old. If there is a file called places.sqlite - journal you can remove it. Restart Firefox and it will recreate this file, import bookmarks from a backup, if browsing history will be lost. Now check if the URL changes.
