  • How to troubleshoot a computer has restarted after a bugcheck error

I recently had to rebuild a Dell Latitude E6500. After you have reinstalled the operating system (Windows 7 64-bit) and the drivers supplied on the Dell Web site, I had the computer shut down unexpectedly.

A glance at the history of reliability shows the following message:

The computer was restarted after an error checking; The bugcheck was: 0x000000c2 (0 x 0x0000000004a6001e, 0 x 0000000000000007, 0000000000001097, 0xfffffa800d10c3b0). A dump was saved in the: C:\Windows\MEMORY. DMP. Report ID: 050310-39468-01.

A quick Internet search, it seems that this is due to a bad driver. I could have probably made a mistake by choosing to install drivers or there could be an error on the Dell driver download page. In any case, I would like to know which driver might be responsible for the accident. How can I get this information out of the above error checking?

    Thank you for your advice.

Edit: I found this (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff560185(v=VS.85).aspx) information to be useful, but still do not know how to find the bad driver.

Cause according to minidump: NETw5s64.sys (primary cause)

& ntoskrnl.exe (this is windows program & it cashed out due to the effect of secondary crushing NETw5s64.sys)

NETw5s64.sys is a driver related component of Network Interface Card or NIC. You can find "\SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\NETw5s64.sys".

Investigation to be performed by you:

Now, we must carefully investigate the card NETWORK device:

    • Who are the material of the business of the vendor? (Realtek/Intel/nVidia etc.)
    • Is your NETWORK Onboard card or an expansion card?
    • Is your NETWORK Wireless LAN card or not?
    • Is there a second LAN option exists on the map?
    • Is your LAN IC or NIC has any physical damage or flaws present or not? (I know it's difficult to conclude with naked eye, but take a look & am trying to remember is it performance with any other OS)
    • In past this machine ran on other OS without fault or not? Was it all associated bad NIC?
    • What is the chipset of the motherboard & you have installed the latest driver for most of it or not?
    • How many times you got the BSOD?
    • There is a frequency of repetition of the BSOD?
    • Have you noticed that you get this error only when your LAN works (with modem or switch) or always?
    • What is the current version intermediate or published date of the driver; who had installed for your LAN or the NIC of the Dell website?

If the BSOD is still attended; just turn off the LAN devices & take the cables & disable the Device Manager under 'Network adapters' hardware o your NIC. Then look for a certain period, if the frequency of the BSOD dies or not? If he died then my hypothesis will be 100% correct & currently still has an impact on your system.

Necessary Feedback on your part: All the investigative report above should be presented here. But your comments are accurate & reliable.

My next step to solve this problem: I will suggest you to update the NETWORK interface driver & the chipset drivers.

A few truths & thoughts on drivers:

But I know that you said that you have updated the Dell site. But my personal views on the OEM of.

"" they don't follow it driver still to this day & OEM are not the coder or the Director of these drivers as those who are usually created by a third-party OEM. ""

You might be confused by above comment. Let's try to understand for example.

Suppose I use an ASUS brand motherboard where the IC Audio & LAN made by Realtek & Chipset made by Intel. For me with a motherboard ASUS Intel & Realtek are third-party OEM.

Now my general sources of the pilot last motherboad would be ASUS website. But if ASUS did not update my motherboard driver correctly I could visit to Intel & Realtek site for my need for updated driver. Actually site ASUS accumulate all the compatible driver for that hardware Intel & Realtek site by a professional experience & designer PCB Board; usually they brand/product not the base drivers. The OEM usually stop updating the drivers when the product is not a common product; so here's intentions for new products & their pilots, but every manufacturer / OEM third-party keep their update of the driver for old & new all the components for a longer period each time they found no compatibility problems. Third party OEM are usually the compiler drivers.

So I would like to know the details above & will bring you if any other driver compatible Win 7 found from other sites. I'm not sure I'll be able or not, but takes advantage of the chance to 100%.

I also want to tell you a fact that the last pilot most work perfectly on your system, then the old version of Win 7 compatible driver can work very well. New drivers are not always flawless. They have been updated to cure some system specific technical problems, but another system is perhaps still not answering this version of the driver that will be fixed on next or previous.

Conclusion: Your associated NETw5s64.sys BSOD on Win 7 is always a topic very discuss on other forums also. Just search on Google using the "NETw5s64.sys" research phase; you will get many results.  There is still no satisfactory solution available. But now, you know the BSOD causing file & likely fault for your system so keep an eye on this topic throughout the internet for now & in the future.

These accidents were related to the corruption of memory (probably caused by a driver).

Run these two tests to check your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.  Launch auditor.  You don't need to run memtest again unless the auditor is not the cause, or you want to.

If you are overclocking anything reset by default before running these tests.

  • The computer was restarted after a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0 x 00000116

    Hello

I recently got a new PC, initially, I installed the Windows 10 and it worked quite well apart from crashing just by playing a game. Thought that accidents were due to Windows 10 I uninstalled Windows 7 from my old office and installed on the new desktop.

Same problem with Windows 7, if I play Tera Online at some point which seems to be random, the system hangs, I get a black screen and press the power button for four seconds for the computer to shut down properly because it is not responding to something else.

Interesting to note that other games (like Batman Arkham Knight) will work perfectly.

The error that appears in the Windows Event Viewer is:

    The computer was restarted after a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0 x 00000116 (0xfffff880060f9128, 0xffffffffc000009a, 0xfffffa800710f4e0, 0 x 0000000000000004). A dump was saved in the: C:\Windows\MEMORY. DMP. Report ID: 071415-8174-01.

    Download link for the dump

Thank you for the help, I used the Debugging Tools for Windows to read my memory dump that led me to believe the error is caused by nvlddmkm.sys which seems to be among the NVIDIA drivers. This track seems to me the solution because I need to underclock my graphics card. This seems to have solved the problem, so I'll try to find a solution in other ways that the Microsoft Community as sounds more like a problem of material or at least a NVIDIA issue.

The beginning of this month, I have built me a new platform game and installed Win 7 HP. everything worked very well at 18. I was just browsing the internet, and all of a sudden my computer froze for a second, then went to the BSOD. Inside, I saw that it was a "memory dump". He did 3 times the same day where I just internet browsing. Upset A, looked autour online and I've seen where people have said that it could be caused due to the update software. So I updated what he needed and then with my day. Well, it happened earlier this morning. I decided to look in my event viewer and see if I could find what is the problem. I found a mistake:

The computer was restarted after a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x0000003b (0xfffff880113022ec, 0xfffff88008266950, 0x00000000c0000005, 0 x 0000000000000000). A dump was saved in the: C:\Windows\MEMORY. DMP. Report ID: 072414-16614-01.

So I decided to call Microsoft and their solution to the problem was "reinstall Windows! Reinstall Windows! "WHAT! REINSTALL WINDOWS! It will take me 2 DAYS to get my computer to the way I want it with all my programs, movies, music. I know that there is another solution to this problem. I want to know the cause of the BSOD. So I was reading around and I've seen where people would say upload the file to dump memory to Skydrive and someone will look into it to find a problem. Well, I downloaded the .dmp file to my Onedrive and I hope and pray someone can read and help. (https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=E4B0911EE97A02C1 107 & authkey =!) AAR8h7CfZxBp7aw & ithint = the file % 2cdmp) I initially thought it was a problem of RAM because he said that it was a picture of 'memory '.

    Help, please.

    Hi Sidney,

The attached file of the DMP is to bug checking DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1) .

This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory with a high IRQL.

A driver tried to access a pageable (or that is completely invalid) address while the IRQL was too high. This bug check is usually caused by drivers who used a wrong address.

    BugCheck D1, {18, 2, 1, fffff88005254d16}

Argument 1 is 0000000000000018 indicating completely invalid memory was referenced. We don't even need check, we can tell just by looking at her that he isn't a valid address in any way.

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

Have you recently added any hardware? Have you updated a driver just before
These began? (Check control panel - updates of Windows to see if all drivers
have been updated it there all the time, it started) main likely culprits are video
pilot, other great drivers, memory and antivirus/antispyware/security products
could be faulty as well as reader questions.

Use the troubleshooter below and refer to the following message for pilots and
memory when you get these sections and then return of the disease.

    BCCode: 50 0 x 00000050

    Bug Check 0 x 50: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA bug control has a value of 0 x 00000050. This indicates that invalid system memory was referenced.

Important info if you received a STOP Code

If you received a blue error screen, or a stop code, the computer stopped abruptly to protect against data loss. A hardware device, its driver or software might have caused this error. If your copy of Windows is shipped with your computer, contact your computer manufacturer. If you have purchased
Windows separately from your computer, Microsoft provides support. To find contact information for Microsoft or the manufacturer of your computer, Contact Support.

If you have experience with computers and try to recover from this error, follow the steps in the Microsoft article solution STOP (blue screen) errors in Windows.

These actions could prevent a mistake like this does not happen:

    1. Download and install updates for your computer from Windows Update device drivers.
    2. Scan your computer for computer viruses.
    3. Check your hard drive for errors.

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA parameters

The following settings are displayed on the blue screen.

    Parameter Description

    1

    The referenced memory address

    2

    0: Read operation

    1: Write operation

    3

Address that referenced memory (if known)

    4

    Reserved

If the driver responsible for the error can be identified, its name is printed on the blue screen and stored in memory location (PUNICODE_STRING) KiBugCheckDriver.

    Cause

Bug control 0 x 50 usually occurs after the installation of a faulty hardware or installation failure of material (usually associated with defective RAM, either main memory, L2 RAM or RAM video cache).

Another common cause is a defective system service installation.

Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.

    Resolution

    Fix a defective hardware problem:
if the material has been added to the system recently, remove it to see if the error recurs. If the hardware failure existing, remove or replace the faulty component. You must run the diagnostics of material provided by the manufacturer of the system. For more information about these procedures, see the manual of your computer.

    Fix a defective system service:
disable the service and confirm that this resolves the error. If so, contact the manufacturer of the system service on a possible update. If the error occurs during the system startup, restart your computer, and then press F8 to menu mode characters that displays the choice of operating system. In the Windows Advanced Options menu that results, select the last known good Configuration option. This option is most effective when a pilot or a service is added at a time.

    A problem of antivirus software:
disable the program and confirm that this resolves the error. If this is the case, contact the manufacturer of the program about a possible update.

    Fix a corrupted NTFS volume:
run Chkdsk /f /r to detect and repair disk errors. You must reboot the system before the start of the analysis of disk on a system partition. If the SCSI hard disk, check the problems between the SCSI controller and the drive.

Finally, check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help determine the device or driver that generated the error. Disable the cache in memory of the BIOS might also resolve it.

    Remarks

In general, this address is in the released memory or simply not valid.

This cannot be protected by a try - except Manager - it can only be protected by a probe.

    Hello

    We are here to help.

The reason why your PC restarts after you turn it off, it's because there is something wrong which makes crashing. Normally, there will be an error message coming up, like Blue Screen of Death, when it crashes instead of rebooting the system. But for some reason, your PC is defined as automatically restart and hide the real problem of your PC.

To change the settings, please follow the steps below:

    1. Click the Start button
    2. Type ""sysdm.cpl " without the quotes, and then press enter."
    3. Click the Advanced tab
    4. Click on the settings button under the ' start and Recovery ' part.
    5. In the new window you are invited there, uncheck automatically restart under the part of the system failure .
    6. Then, click OK

With these changes, Windows will restart is no longer after closing down instead he will now take the error message that your PC can be seen.

For more information, please visit this link.

    Kind regards.

    Hello
It is possible that the BSOD was caused by w22n51.sys (08/03/2004), it is driver for wireless network equipment. (I have tested many minidump files)

    Reach:
and update the drivers for the wireless network hardware.

You can open the Device Manager, select wireless networkand drivers. You would see the w22n51.sys file here. After the update, you will find that the file is called w29n51.sys.
