The Desktop tab in the display properties freezes computer

I have Windows XP, SP3. When I try to change the wallpaper by clicking on the Office tab lock. Nothing happens. If I try to close the display properties, I get a message saying that he does not, with RunDLL32.exe in the title bar. The other tabs in display properties work fine. I've run several virus and malware detection programs and they found nothing. No idea what's happening, and how can I solve this problem?

I had the same problem. Finally I started to think: why did this happen? I searched the registry for "Wallpaper" and maybe one of the proposed mentions it's a timeout to 20000 in relationship with the module property of the wallpaper (which units I don't know), so I left the display properties > Desktop tab in the State "suspended" over lunch. When I came back to it the destop by bike through the regular options (so you can choose one of them). I then went through and find my own picture of a hummingbird bird, and it works fine now. Without doubt, I deleted the picture bird Hummingbird long ago and had forgotten this is the desktop wallpaper.

I hope this helps.

original title: display problems (broken display properties window)

Well, I have a truckload of display problems, many of them are probably related, but I will address these one at a time. I'll start with my display properties.

When I open the display properties, I get this little window:

    http://img.Photobucket.com/albums/V371/battousaiofnphiles/screencaps/BrokenControlpanel1.jpg

Look at it carefully, it is supposed to look like this:

Now, whenever I start the computer I have to reinstall my display driver and reset my display properties. When you reset my 600x800px at 1440 x 900 screen, I have to select one click on the theme 'Apply' before I give myself the tabs to set different individual elements of the screen and click 'Apply' to effectively apply my desired settings.

Now I have a Vid card for replacement in the mail which I think should solve the forced back on the display driver, but I'm confident that's not going to solve the problem of display properties broke.

    * EDIT *.
I'm running on Windows XP Professional SP3.

Original question is resolved. I open a prompt of commands and regsvr32 /i shell32 then restarted and enter regsvr32 themeui. My gfx card is always failing to start, but once started, the tabs are back where they belong.

  • Missing location tab in the display properties file

Trying to move folders user since the boot partition to a partition on another disk drive, I used Windows Explorer to select the folder and then choose the properties option and the tab location.  This works for some files but not others.  In the screenshot below, you will see that there is no tab location for my folder of music among users, but there is a tab of Acronis.  Is it because I made a backup of the folder Acronis earlier?  If this is not the case, why is there no tab location.

Because I move the user files to reduce the size of the boot partition to fit comfortably on a disk solid state drive (SSD), I need to be certain that future additions and actually records the files go to the partition on another drive.  How can I determine that I have this change of location made correctly?  I don't want to install the SSD and suddenly discover that data download, Document, music, photos and videos are always written to the boot partition?

You can check and change the relocation of user folder in the registry.  I also had to make what I screwed up moving my music - your missing tab folder implies that you did the same thing.

See my post in http://answers.microsoft.com/message/c538bb2b-6800-45d0-b39a-31444b2c530e of Section 1 of my post deals with the standard way of doing [what you have done already].  Section 2 describes the audit & changing everything in the registry.

  • How to REMOVE a photo in the background picture in the list of background photo in the display on my computer properties?

I have a picture in my LIST of BACKGROUND PICTURES under the PROPERTIES of my computer DISPLAY area and the photo is named WINDOWS LIVE PHOTO GALLERY.  I WOULD LIKE TO BE PERMANENTLY DELETED.  HOW CAN I DO THIS?  I use Windows XP.

    Hello

    You can try these:

    a. go to the start menu and select desktop or double-click top from the desktop.

    b. go to the Tools menu, select options and then select option files and hidden folders.

    c. navigate to the folder... \Windows\. If you are presented with a warning about the change of system files, click on the link "View files" to continue.

    d. look in this folder for the background name you want to delete. If this is not the case, try looking in these places:

    i. Windows\Web\Wallpaper directory

II. the "My pictures" folder This inside "My Documents".

III. If you are using Internet explorer, it can be stored in C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet explore

    e. If you still haven't found it, go into the Start Menu search. Click "all files and folders" and enter the name of the background to locate.

    f. When you have located the file, you can either delete or move to a new folder. Try to create a folder named Backgrounds moved. If you move the file into the new folder, it will be removed from your list, but still available on your PC if you change your mind.

  • My screen Display Properties lack the screen saver tab?

  • How to remove images or themes from the list of display properties for selected wallpapers?

Well they are. When I go into the Control Panel, click or select the display icon, I come to the display properties.  Kind of dumb pictures obtained in the list of display properties.  I want to remove them from the list.  I n my ending is never trying to clean my computer, I want to delete these images and selected icons.  I really don't remember adding photos to the list of display properties for desktop. But they are there

You must move the image files where they are now (probably in my pictures). Windows XP retrieves files image from the following paths:

    C:\WINDOWS BMP files

The files BMP, JPG, GIF, JPE, DIB, PNG, HTM from the following locations:

    C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper
    C:\Documents and Settings\photos \My Documents\My [& ALL THE sub FOLDERS]
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet explore
    C:\Program Files\Plus! \Themes [* & ALL subfolders *]

So for example, if the 'silent pictures' are in your My Documents\My Pictures folder (or a folder in my pictures) and you want to keep them, just move them to the folder My Documents of parent instead. If you don't want to keep them, just delete the files.

    Hello

in a first time, you must make your screen brighter. You can make it work with pressing Fn + F7 (I think that Yes, there should be a symbol with triangle showing the tip upwards and a bit of sun/light bulb).

Then, you should go to the display properties and there should be an option in the advanced settings that control the contrast. Just pay attention to this point.

Give some feedback if you have achieved some success...
