The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, has a bad block.

Hello world

After scanning FAT/FAT32/NTFS partition with the attempt to recover bad sectors, the system marks all free clusters as bad.
The event log is then filled with error messages "the device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, has a bad block.".

Hard drive is 100% healthy. I bought three weeks ago.  I am 100% sure that there no erros surface, because I tested with Seagate SeaTool and HD tune Pro.

I tested it on three computers different windows 7 and I still got the same error.
CnMemory support won't accept as an error, they say that it is the problem of Microsoft Windows 7.

Here is one video.

Some info:
My OS = Windows 7 x 64, with all updates until the 2013.03.29.
Product name = "CnMemory Spaceloop 3 TB USB 2.0 sata external drive»
Inside of the box is Seagate ST3000DM001 SATA 3 TB hard drive with 4 k sector.

Thanks for the help,
Eduard

Hi Edward,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forums.

It seems that the system marks all free clusters as bad and the event log registered as "the device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, has a bad block. We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem.

Perform the steps:

Method 1:

Queries or sets the bit of impurity of a volume. When the volume dirty bit, one is set, autochk automatically checks the volume for errors the next time the computer is restarted.

Syntax-

fsutil dirty {query | value}

Reference:

Fsutil dirty

http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc788091.aspx

I would like to know the output of the following command:

fsutil fsinfo ntfsinfo

Method 2:

You can run Chkdsk from WINRE.

In order to solve this problem go chkdsk from WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) mode and search for the issue.

You can follow these steps to run CHKDSK:

a. use the Windows 7 DVD to start the computer from Windows Recovery (WinRE).

b. in WinRE, open a command prompt. To do this, follow these steps:

c. on the screen to install Windows, select the language to install, time and currency format and keyboard or input method options and then click Next.

d. click on repair your computer.

e. click on the Windows 7 installation you want to repair, and then click Next.

f. click on command prompt.

At the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

CHKDSK drive: / p

CHKDSK drive: / r

CHKDSK warning:

Important: When running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

Hope this information helps. Get back to us if you have more queries about Windows.

I am repeatedly getting the error "the device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block." in the event viewer. Recently, I fixed a security problem that prevented me to install windows updates. For this, I ran CHKDSK (see results below), System File Checker, and a complete analysis of the system of McAfee, spybot and Malwarebytes, both in security and the good start. How can I check for errors on my HARD disk?

In addition, I don't know if this is related, but a problem with the wireless network connection keeps recurring. "Windows wireless service" is not automatically start during the boot. It must manually be diagnosed and started. He gave the following error message:

    Speed stop?

Unexpected/unpredictable and quick stops are generally caused by overheating or bad RAM modules.  This happens too fast to create an entry in the newspapers.  Try downloading / running the freeware 'CoreTemp'.  It will show you how hot your CPU is getting and how close to maximum temperature, it is.  If this is your problem, open your folder and check your fans to make sure they turn all.  Use a can of compressed air to remove dust, because it can act like a blanket and heat your components.

To solve your problem of bad block, run "Chkdsk" with the 'repair' or ' / R ' option.  This should clean up your bad block problem.

    · What is the service pack installed?

    · What is the number and the model of the computer?

    · Do you remember any changes made on the computer before the show?

    · You have security software installed?

    · You have a Windows XP Setup disk?

Try the methods and check the results below:

Method 1: Manually run the Chkdsk disk scanner. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, click Run, type chkdsk /f /r and then click OK.

    b. at the command prompt, type Y to let the disc run when you restart the computer.

    c. restart the computer.

    d. Chkdsk runs.

Method 2: Scan virus online and check if any malware or virus detected on the computer activity. You can run the scan for viruses online from the link below: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Hello, Sashwat

If possible, test the drive in another computer and check if you are able to access or not. If this is not the case, the drive may be bad.

If it's a USB card with an SD card reader, rather than a dedicated, flash drive check if the card is recognized and accessible in other drives/devices. Also, check the metal contacts on the card to make sure that nothing is blocking the metal contacts. If the card cannot be read in other devices and contacts are clean, the card is likely bad.
If other devices can access the drive, but not by the card reader, the card reader could be bad.

    Hello lala80,

Thank you for using Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

hpqtra08.exe is normally installed as part of the HP all-in-one printer, scanner, driver copy and install the software. It is a non-essential process, and it is at the discretion of the user, whether to disable. If disabled buttons as scan in the 'all-in-one' continues to work. However if you never use it it is safe to disable. It does not work, just the button scan in the multi functional.

You can disable this feature by using msconfig in Windows.

Click Start and type msconfig in the search box and press enter

    Click the Start (top row)

In the list of programs, uncheck hpqtra08.exe

If this isn't the case, you can try to change the drive letter designated to removable drives all the other letters other than E, F, G and check if it helps.

These warnings began when I started using an IEEE 1394 external drive for backup. I can't say if the more than 7,000 warning messages started after formatting, or when the backup began.

About 5,000 messages occurred during the first backup which lasted several hours, back on February 24.

All of them had: an error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk5\DR5 during a paging operation.

Managed backup done this night here and as far as I know. (I don't look in the observer of events at this time.)

The next day, at 11:00, the messages have started, but this time in bunches of a dozen or less within one or two seconds. And they all change to this:

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\DR1 during a paging operation.

Since then, the warnings occur sporadically. The backup program ran on 28 February, and produces over a thousand more. A group that's happened when I tried to back up the registry to a subdirectory on the drive yesterday.

What is strange, is that the drive seems pretty much OK. Backup completed without error. I can copy files to it, and then copy it.

Given that these are warnings, is this correct? A driver problem?

    the drive is using 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713 - 1255)

I formatted just before using it for the backup. These are the old years, but we never had any problems with it before.

Any ideas on how to understand what is happening?

You can also try changing the driver firewire to INHERIT one. (Device Manager, Bus IEEE 1394 controller, software update driver, browse my computer, let me pick from a list... Choose the line of inheritance in it.
