"The document is not valid. The index.xml file is missing.

I suddenly can't open one of my docs of numbers. I get a msg "'name of the doc' document is not valid. The index.xml file is missing.  I literally had the open document this morning without problem, closed, tried to reopen and now I get this msg... all in the same session of the computer. It began not after an update or anything like that, right in the middle of a session of the computer.  You seem to affect all the docs of numbers.  I can't open an any of them now.  I am running OS X El Capitan Version 10.11 and numbers 09, Version 2.1.

Hi jg,.

The case usual this message, it is that the document has been opened in numbers version 3.xx, which converts it into a new file version that uses the file index.xml internal requested by Numbers ' 09.

You have 3 numbers installed on your machine? This file has already been opened in this application?

The file was saved to iCloud or opened by the iOS version numbers or numbers for iCloud?

Recommended 'cure' is to open the file using the 3 numbers, then save as... or export to format Numbers ' 09. As a result, remember numbers to quit smoking (v3) - menu numbers > numbers to quit smoking; by clicking on the red light closed the file, but doesn't end numbers. So avoid open numbers files by double-clicking on the file itself.

Instead, start Numbers ' 09 (v2.3) and open the file in the application.

Kind regards

Barry

  • Error message: the index.xml file is missing.

I am trying to open a 'Numbers' file, which is stored in Dropbox in the cloud.

I know there are some discussions about this already on this support group but they all suggest to back up files in Time Machine. I use Dropbox for years with no problems, but today I tried to open a file of numbers in Dropbox and received the message: "the index.xml file is missing." I have 2 other computers and an iPhone 6 and the file opens on them perfectly so my problem is with a single computer.

I tried pulling the file from Dropbox on the desktop of another computer and then send this file to me as an attachment. I opened this file on the computer sends me questions, drag the file on the desktop and when I tried to open the file, I got the same message.

It's just strange that it will not be open on computers.

    Any advise?

    Thank you, Tony

    Hi Tony,.

This is somethng that occurs when you try to open a file of 3 numbers to 2 digits ('09). Make sure that you leave 2 numbers and then try to open the file of numbers 3. That should do it.

You have two versions of installed Pages, where the Pages ' 09 document format use it internal document index.xml, and all Pages v5 releases use a different document format that does not incorporate the index.xml file. If you have Pages ' 09 running without window, and double-click a v5 document Pages, you will get a Pages ' 09 dialog box indicating that the index.xml file is missing.

Exit Pages ' 09 and then double click on the document to open correctly in your version of v5 Pages.

  • I'm not able to open my documents pages. I get the message: the requested index.xml file is missing.  I wonder if it is because I have updates 10.11.5

I have an iMac (20-inch, mid 2007) processor 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory and recently updated to el capitan 10.11.5.  I have Pages ' 09, and I can't open my documents pages and get the message:

The index.xml file required is missing.

I now see that it says return to default pages 5.6.2.

I can open them as 5.6.2 then save tehm in pages ' 09?

Can someone help me with easy tips?

Only the Pages ' 09 or old documents contain internal index.xml file. When you try to open a document in Pages ' 09 Pages v5, you get this dialog on the missing index.xml. The key is to stop Pages ' 09 and then double click on the document to open it in v5.6.2 Pages.

Pages ' 09 will not leave by simply clicking on the red light on the title bar of the document. As long as the Pages ' 09 continues to run, it will intercept all attempts to open any document Pages, including incompatible versions of the v5 Pages.

This has nothing to do with OS X 10.11.5. He has been a user focused on the issue since October 2013.

I can't open a document Pages I've recently worked on. I get this message: I can't open a document, I worked on. I get the message: the requested index.xml file is missing.  What should I do? Thank you, Miriam

You have two versions of Pages on your Mac and tried to open an incompatible v5 Pages document, while the Pages ' 09 still worked. You simply leave the Pages ' 09 (the purple ink bottle icon) and then double-click on the same document for it to open correctly in your version of Pages v5 (yellow paper with the pencil icon).

You open a file with Pages ' 09 Pages 5.x.

You need to right-click on the file and open it with Pages 5.x (the one with the orange document icon).

I can't open a pages document stored on desktop because 'index. XML file is missing. -What it means and how to overcome the problem?

    Hi Yulula,

The message means that you have two versions to Pages installed on your MacBook - the current v3.6 pages and previous Pages ' 09.

Pages ' 09 files are 'packages' and include the file index.xml "missing."

Pages v3 records in a different file format, one that does not use an index.xml file.

Pages ' 09 tries to open that file, where the message.

Exit Pages ' 09. Double-click the file, and it should open in v3 Pages.

If you would prefer to continue to use the ' 09 Pages (many people, due to many features supported in the ' 09 Pages that are not is v3 Pages), then for this file and others that have been opened in page v3, you can open each in v3, and then export the file in the format of Pages ' 09.

  • AUSST - not able to display XML files in order to verify the proper installation of IIS

We implement our Adobe update server in a Windows Server 2003 R2 32 bit environment.  I followed Adobe technical notes on the configuration of the server with IIS 6.  I changed the settings in IIS, including the addition of the definitions of .xml to the asp.net web.config file located in C:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG.

The question we have is this: I am trying to check the file updaterfeed.xml according to the documentation, but it is not displayed.  I enabled the exploration of directory, which allows me to click each folder until I get up to the following path:

    http://ourServer/updates/Adobe/CS/webfeed/OOBE/aam10/win/updaterfeed.XML

None of the xml files are displayed.  I checked for XML MIME type in the form:

    text/xml

These are the lines I added to asp.net web configuration:

    "< add the path = 'generated' verb =" "*" type = "System.Web.StaticFileHandler" / >

    "< add the path ="*.xml"verb =" "*" type = "System.Web.StaticFileHandler" / >

    "< add the path ="*.dmg"verb =" "*" type = "System.Web.StaticFileHandler" / >

    "< add the path = '*.crl" verb = "" * "type =" System.Web.StaticFileHandler "/ >

    "< add the path = verb"*.sig"=" "*" type = "System.Web.StaticFileHandler" / >

In addition, according to the technology Adobe note for establishing AUSST provides:

As a simple test to verify that the web server is running correctly, make sure that the updaterfeed.XML files on

the update server is accessible from browsers on client machines. Essentially, you must ensure

that the web server works, independent of the Adobe update server configuration tool.

Can you tell me what I missed, or point me in the right direction?  There is no ASP.net error in Event Viewer.

Hi, thanks for sharing newspapers. of newspapers, it seems that this updatefeed.xml file has been corrupted.

There are 2 steps to solve the...

Remove /updates/Adobe/CS/webfeed/oobe/aam20/win/updaterfeed.xml (make a backup of it) by AUSST server setup and then run AUSST mode incremental synchronization (option 2).

If this does not resolve also the question then please share the newspapers again. also agree with the updaterfeed.xml file.

    Thank you

    Hello

I get an error during the test of SCORM 2004 Captivate 2 output. I use the Suite of Test of ADL 1.3.3 (Content Package compliance test) to test the zip file.

    The error is:

    Summary of compliance tests metadata

    The metadata is well formed
Metadata is invoked by the control documents

When I opened the newspaper to detailed metadata, I see two cases of:

When I open the actual imsmanefest.xml file, I notice that there are two places with the 'key word' code. The first is the < general > section, and the second is in the < classification > section.

Here is the text of the manifest file:

I can change these in the imsmanifest.xml file, but my question is, is there a source file I could change so that I don't have to change every single manifest file for each project of cp I develop? Or, is there a place where I can enter the cp itself file values for these elements of language of string (I tried to add a description to the file > Preferences dialog description area and it had no effect).

Thanks for any help on the files to change or to find out where to put the info in the cp file,
    Alan

    Thank you, Bobby.

I returned and filled in the manifesto > courses > subject field in through the Quiz Manager and that solved this problem. The output is now fully compliant SCORM 2004 (subsequently TEN tests).

Note that using only mentions this field is mandatory...

Thank you once again and now I can recommend updating to Captivate 2 (more a few other licenses for other developers).
