Keyboard problem. I am working on a Toshiba laptop, Windows7. Somebody spilled soda on it. I have clean the keyboard, but it would always use all the keys. I had a different keyboard on your laptop parts and it will type random letters and number, (affects the k and you get "8 k", the l key and you ket "l9") if I plug a usb key it keyboard works very well. Is it possible that the oil spill has shorted the connection from the motherboard to the keyboard?

Replacement keyboard is the same Toshiba model? If so, you still get errors, then the circuit is probably fried in-house. While you had the old keyboard out, have you checked for liquid inside the laptop?
If you think that this may be the keyboard (and I bet it is), then do a search online for the part number. It's probably on a sticker on the back of it, or the connector of the ribbon cable. Amazon usually has a good selection of laptop parts available for a reasonable price (I got a screen 17 "LCD replacement for a HP laptop for $89, and it works very well).

  • Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6: need a new hard drive for the dv6-1230us

My question is about the HP Pavilion Entertainment dv6-1230us PC. Recently, it was abandoned, and since then it has been giving me the following message if poster every time it starts.

    Not found boot device

Please install an operating system on your hard drive.

    Hard Drisk (3F0)

    F2 System Diagnostics

"For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup"

I know it's important to run the hard drive test, but when I run the diagnostics of the system for the Test drive, it says:
    "HDD test failed.
    There is no hard drive.

I was also on the proposed site and even after "reset my BIOS to default", it recommends running the hard drive test, which does not simply because it has not really helped me the "there is no hard drive. There was a YouTube video that I came across thus suggested pulling the hard drive and diconnecting and reconnect to correct the error in this case that the son is detached, but that no longer works.

SO, I don't know if there is anything more that I can do, I guess that the hard drive is super dead.

It comes with a Seagate ATA hard drive. I was wondering if I could replace it with a SATA hard drive or should it be an ATA? (Even has the material capacity to support a SATA drive?)

Also, it is even useful to replace the hard drive? Should I get a new laptop instead? This laptop is used mainly for just browsing online and checking emails.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Yes, the hard drive is so dead, that he not yet register as a hard drive. The dv6-1000 series certainly uses SATA, not ATA drives so I'm not sure of what you see. You can replace it with any drive SATA 2.5 inch width 9.5 mm thick.

Watch this video between: 53 and: 59 and see that it's a SATA drive. If yours is different, so you have confused with your model.

Hard disks are a small fraction of the cost of a laptop and if your what it takes to, I would say that to replace the hard drive rather than buy a new one.

It is an excellent drive at a great price:

  • Uncertain of the dv6 1143TX bios update

Hello, I was wondering weather or not, I need to update my laptop Bios. I did not update the bios since I bought it and it does not say that there is an update available. I am skeptical about the weather or not, it's an updated value, because I saw many others users have serious problems of execution of such update.

My laptop model No. is dv6-1143TX and my version of Bios F.12

Do I have to update, what problems will / may incur the update, what happens if food not up to date, and if I need to update the update I don't I need?

Any help, suggestions and information is welcome.

    ~ Josh

    Hello

If everything is already running an update is not recommended.

    What can go wrong

You can turn your laptop into a costly and unnecessary Clipboard if you don't update the BIOS by following the instructions with precision.

This means that if you turn off your laptop during the update you will definitely brick your laptop.

What happens if you don't update your laptop

    Nothing.

If it works and you don't try to fix what's wrong, that then you does not work in Murphy's law. (Fix something that is not broken and it will probably break)

    Kind regards

  • Cannot get the DV6 recovery disk to run.

    I have a Pavilion DV6 2110ea.
I just set up a new hard drive.
I wanted a new installation of the operating system without all the extras of HP. So I downloaded the correct version of Windows 7 which was pre-installed when I bought the laptop (Home Prem).
When you try to use the product key from the sticker on the computer, I get a message saying invalid code. So, I rang Microsoft who say that my code may not be correct, because it has a '0' in it and none of their codes will have a 0 or o. BUT very clearly there is a 0 in the code. They passed the ball and told me it was a problem of HP and do ring the.
I rang HP who say that it is out of warranty and because they can't give me a new code, I'll have to use the recovery disc or buy a new. No explanation of why the code that I must be wrong.
So I try it as it is now to use the original recovery disk I did to reinstall Win7 on what I already installed.
I entered the BIOS and selected it must read in the CD/DVD drive. But I can't read the disc and it starts all just keeps the machine as usual.

Hope someone does follow all that. Thank you.

    Problem solved, I'm a fool.
A bit worn and scuffed stickers. I just borrowed a macro lens and can see that there is the slightest sign of .0mm of a thigh. It is a God * beep q. oh the relief I've been home for hours trying to sort it out.

  • Reformat & update the Dv6 graphics card

Product name number & -laptop HP Pavilion Dv6 vl072ea #ABU

    Operating system - Windows 7, 64-bit

My problem and query - I had problems to play movies online with only the graphics, freezing and cracking. The CPU usage is just 100%. I have to play the movie in a small window of a lot. This happens randomly and very little work but sometimes there is no problem. I used to play games and the FPS was still very low and sometimes unplayable. It has deteriorated significantly. I would like to update the graphics if possible and I was wondering if someone could tell me if it is?

Another query apart from this, is that my laptop gets slower with the same start-up and stop, is it easy and advised to reformat? I ever reformatted a computer, but I can follow directions well.
    Thanks for your time!

    Hey Chris,

Unfortunately, you cannot update the graphics card on this laptop. Your best bet is to adjust the settings in the games that you play until you capturing better framerates.

When you say "reformat", I assume that you want to restore the default settings on the system; to pretend like it was when you bought it. It is advisable to do if you have a lot of programs installed, or having software problems. This will make just as clean as it was when you bought it.

It is easy to do. Here are some instructions: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00006110

Just turn off the computer completely (stopped), then put it back in and immediately after pressing the power button, press the F11 key. After a few moments, you should see the System Recovery Manager. Follow the instructions on the screen to reformat and restore to a new State. If you cannot run the Recovery Manager, it is possible that it has been deleted somehow, and in this case, you need to get the recovery disks. You can get records by ordering them online ( http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143) or by calling HP (800-474-6836)

I've recently updated my card the Intel Centrino 2230N to the 7260AC band Dual Intel wireless on my laptop (dv6) 7000 Quad Edition. The laptop starts fine and I have installed the drivers for the Intel website 7260, but my laptop still think it has a Centrino N 2230.

Is there something I need to do to make my laptop see this material change? I saw that another user here was able to switch the cards without any problems, I don't know what goes wrong.

So it turns out that, if it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, it's a 2230 N with an apocryphal label attached. :/

  • Replacing the dv6-7014nr autour former hard drive - it'll work?

    Here's my dilemma:

My new dv6 7014nr, customized by the dealer with performance 12 GB of RAM and a disc of hybrid SSD 750Go (best decision I did!), has a bad keyboard: the 'C' button keeps jumping off the power. They offered to replace the laptop.

Problem is, I have sensitive data on my hard drive and I want him to stay here. So, here's the plan:

I'm very comfortable in pulling the hard drive and leave it here. The dealer will build me a dv6-7014nr, 12 GB RAM, SAME performance all the same and ship it to me without a hard drive. I've happily jump in my 'old' hard drive and rock on.

Which will work? Or the new material causes non repairable conflicts?

    Thank you!

Welcome! And thanks for posting your question.

If the machine is, like you say, identical, there should not be any conflicts. In theory, any SATA hard drive should power be removed to any machine and placed in another computer SATA or external drive Bay. The only exception would be if your drive was encrypted. What suite of Windows is installed on the hard drive? (7 or 8? Home Premium or professional?)
