The exclamation icon instead of padlock

When I type www.amazon.com and then log on to my firefox 37.01 (SHA1 13fbc8686b0bc443f77297743443958e3d471d73) the following text is displayed in the URL field with an exclamation icon before the URL.

https://support.CDN.Mozilla.NET/media/uploads/images/2015-05-24-12-21-56-d1fc8e.PNG

If I open the same web site on the same workstation using another browser, it works showing the correct https. Also, if I copy the URL in Firefox it works showing the value of the correct URL.

Firefox seems to change the URL as shown

Wrong URL:
https://www.Amazon.com/AP/signin?_encoding=UTF8 & openid.assoc_handle = usflex & openid.claimed_id=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select & openid.identity=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select & openid.mode = checkid_setup & openid.ns=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0 & openid.ns.pape=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fextensions%2Fpape%2F1.0 & openid.pape.max_auth_age = 0 & openid.return_to=https%3A%2F%2F www.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fyourstore%2Fhome%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Dnav_ya_signin

good URL:
https://www.Amazon.com/AP/signin/189-4554439-6554623?_encoding=UTF8 & openid.assoc_handle = usflex & openid.claimed_id=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select & openid.identity=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select & openid.mode = checkid_setup & openid.ns=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0 & openid.ns.pape=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fextensions%2Fpape%2F1.0 & openid.pape.max_auth_age = 0 & openid.return_to=https%3A%2F%2F www.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fyourstore%2Fhome%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Dnav_ya_signin

This means that Firefox is distort the URL address, why?

Hello!

Both the URL "(s) you have provided have the padlock solid for me."

Also, I see that your version of Firefox is a bit outdated. Please consider to update first to see if that solves your problem.

Bad URL: https://www.amazon.com/ap/signin?_encoding=UTF8 & openid.assoc_handle = usflex & openid.claimed_id=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select & openid.identity=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select & openid.mode = checkid_setup & openid.ns=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0 & openid.ns.pape=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fextensions%2Fpape%2F1.0 & openid.pape.max_auth_age = 0 & openid.return_to=https%3A%2F%2F www.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fyourstore%2Fhome%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Dnav_ya_signin

good URL: https://www.amazon.com/ap/signin/189-4554439-6554623?_encoding=UTF8 & openid.assoc_handle = usflex & openid.claimed_id=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select & openid.identity=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select & openid.mode = checkid_setup & openid.ns=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0 & openid.ns.pape=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fextensions%2Fpape%2F1.0 & openid.pape.max_auth_age = 0 & openid.return_to=https%3A%2F%2F www.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fyourstore%2Fhome%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Dnav _

I tested both of these URL'(s) with the padlock being shown so no problems are on my side. However, the reason behind this is interesting as to why you are facing this problem. However, you have indicated that on a separate workstation you might not this problem. I would consider a new installation of Firefox and a virus scan just to be on the safe side. Or if you want to provide more information or newspapers on this, that would be helpful, but I leave the choice to you. Personally, a new reinstall of Firefox does not hurt

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest version of Firefox from mozilla.org office (or choose the download for your operating system and language on this page) and save the file to install it on your computer.
  2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (or open the Firefox menu

    Click the close button

).

  • Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:

      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  • Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.
  • More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use an uninstaller to third parties as part of this process. This could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. They can be retrieved easily unless they have been backed up on an external device! See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.

Please report to say if this helped you!

    Thank you.

    • Since the update of the 16 to 17, shortcuts to office created by dragging show generic Windows icon instead of the Firefox-page icon.

During the upgrade of the FF 16 or 17, I can always drag the icon that is to the left of the url on the desktop (or even quick launch of XP, shortcuts to files, etc.) to create an internet shortcut to the current page. However, with 17 this method produces a shortcut that shows a generic Windows icon instead of a Firefox-page icon. Even if a generic Windows icon shows normally "no associated program," these always open with FF when double-clicked. But it does not look good. (BTW, all of the shortcuts created by this method in FF 16 or less preserved the FF-page 17 updated icon.)

No idea why this has changed and how to fix it so that it looks the same as before?

Pending the resolution of the present (and another question) I went back to 16 FF, and it works normally again. However, shortcuts that were created while I had 17 always display the generic Windows icon.

    • Network of the island so no internet access remove a yellow exclamation point in the network icon in the taskbar.

Hi, I have 10 windows 7 Enterprise workstations connected to a Windows 2008 domain and there is no internet connectivity (this is normal) but each workstation network icon displays an exclamation point yellow because she had not any internet connection. Isn't there anyway other than hide the icon which I don't want to get the yellow exclamation point to appear.

      Thanks Simon.

I finally found the answer. If you are running Windows server 2008 R2 edition, then you can find this policy in the strategy of Group Editor and it will be effective for your Windows 7 machines. If this is not the case, as I am on Windows server 2008 standard and then, is not an option within the Server Group Policy Editor must therefore be as a change in local policy on the workstations.

It is found on the local computer by running gpedit.msc and looking: -.

      Local computer policy,

      Administrative templates,

      Network,

      Network connections,

Does not display the network icon "local access only".

      Select this option enabled.

Closing of session and immediately and this will make the yellow exclamation point icon disapear.

    • Windows 7, I get icons instead of photos on the photos

I have two programs 'Cricut Design Studio' and "4 D embroidery system" both of which show the program icon to the thumbnail instead of the thumbnail image itself.  I spent 4 hours on the phone with HP support yesterday (since my copy of Windows 7 is an OEM product) - they were unable to correct the problem.  I encounter this same problem on my new desk that has Windows 7 on it.  I tried all the usual bugs - eg. in folder options always unchecking "show icons not thumbnails" and both checking and unchecking "Display the file on the photos icon" - also in the control panel under advanced system, system, Advanced tab settings, settings of Preformance, make sure the 'show thumbnails instead of icons' is checked.
I have XP on my old desktop computer - program icons display the photos on the thumbnails correctly on this computer.
I can load these files on a USB stick, plug this jump in my Windows 7, and the files on the jump show thumbnails correctly.  If I transfer the files on computers with Windows 7 on them, they become icons of the program (instead of photos of the file).  In Windows 7, I have all the updates, and both programs I can't see pictures on the thumbnails have the latest updates also and are fully compatible with Windows 7.
It is a real problem for me because I work with these files (more than 10,000 of them) every day.  Many file names are numbers only, so without the pictures, I can't say which file to open.  Help, please!

The size of the icon file must be medium or large for the thumbnails to display. Small icons won't show generic thumbnail of the thw.

There must be also installed codecs to generate thumbnails for file types.

    • Red blackBerry exclamation Z10 there is in the battery icon when it is connected to the Thinkpad T420

I'm new here and the Z10 is my first BlackBerry smartphone.

I noticed that when I out took it of the box and connected to my Thinkpad T420 that was running Windows 8, it started to charge the battery and it was OK, and then I installed the link of BlackBerry that comes with it and after that I restarted my laptop, there is a red in the battery icon exclamation point , and it seemed that he was arrested for battery.

I uninstalled the link BlackBerry and after restart, it began to charge the battery again.

I don't know if this is a bug or not.

      Thank you.

I have not tried the phone with Windows 8.

I am trained on technical support for Windows 7, and I do technical support for Windows 7.  At the moment I have no training to win 8 support.  If your device is running Windows 8 - RT, I would put a strong bet on a compatibility issue with the link for the phone drivers. If the device uses the standard Win 8 OS, then I would be inclined to think that it is a problem of compatibility of equipment of a certain type. From what I read link is supposed to work with Win 8. I do not know RT

      Read on...

I think of how link installed on Win 7 systems, that it comes with its own drivers. I never watched very closely into that because I never had a problem with the link using Win 7.  I had some problems with XP on some older computers. Without the software Link installed Win 7 installs its own generic drivers.

I also found with Win 7 computers with the former manager of office installed, these drivers to work also with the Z10 to charge and be able to read the card SD and memory of the phone via the USB port. Software Desktop Manager does not work with the Z10.

Try if you can do it in 8 Win.  Install the software Link. Go to the properties of system with the phone BB device.  Uninstall the phone in the hardware section. This should uninstall the drivers. Restart the computer with the phone powered on and connected. I'm game if drivers Win 8 BB will be installed on the recovery that the pilots of the link. I never tried with Win 8. It may be interesting the shot.

Something else interesting to try if this does not work, connect the Z10 using an external powered USB HUB between him and the computer. The CENTRE acts as a buffer. Maybe the OS will react differently this way.  I had problems where a powered USB HUB solved some problems with specific USB devices. It's more with printers, scanners and GPS devices.

Another problem is that I believe that your Thinkpad works more like a Tablet than a full blown computer. This may be a problem with the software Link. It would be interesting to know if someone else who reads this, use the Link software on a desktop or full blast laptop computer that runs 8 Win. If so and there is no problem, this should limit the problem the T420, rather than the system Win 8 or the software link itself.

Another interesting looking thing is so that the phone can not load the Link software able to read the phone anyway?  If so, you may have to live with the fact you can save and restore the phone with the T420, but not load.

If you sync the phone with Hotmail, you will have a form of a backup of your contacts, and I also believe that data. I tried syncing the phone with Yahoo and Gmail. Gmail has had lots of questions. Yahoo has worked but not exceptional. I found that Hotmail works best with the Z10 for synchronization.

If you have Outlook, you can install the Outlook Hotmail sync tool. This is available on the website of Ms. It is called Outlook connect if I remember correctly. This way you can configure MS Outlook to sync with your Hotmail account. This will keep the phone and your Outlook all synchronised with Hotmail.  I do this with a number of Z10 with great success. You will need to make yourself a Hotmail e-mail account. Then, you will need to do some reading to get it going.
