The fans went turbo!

Hi all

I have an Alienware Aurora desktop system I recently received my son (he himself built a new system).  I have had all set up and have been using it without any problem.  I'm on Windows 10.  The system worked very well this morning.   I have two monitors on it.  I stopped and disconnected a monitor to use it on another system temporarily and when I turned on my system back fans went turbo.  The PCI and the hard drive of fans go to 100% and nothing I will slow down.  I put the second monitor back, but fans are still going to 100%.

Thermal control is set to Auto.  I read a few posts on the occurrence of thing even with the fans of laptop a while back after a software update, this could be the same kind of thing?  I do not see SupportAssist or Data Vault applications that they are referring to these posts on my system, tho.

Hello

Yes, there was a problem with an update on the app Support help, but if you're not in programs and features you don't have to worry.

There is an option in the Command Center application that allows you to control the fan manually, you can create a curve and lower the fan speed. If you do not have the software installed, you can download here.

The fan goes in cycles like this:
    ------------------
    Less than 50, fan
When > 55, fan to full
    When< 55,="" fan="" on="">
    When< 50,="" fan="" off="">
    and it continues

    ------------------

It would be much better than when he went to more than 50 years she just spend on bass, then
It would never reach 55 and never go up.
And the laptop would be 100 x more silent.

    Hello

The fans begin to turn only if a certain temperature point has been reached.
These fan table information is stored in the BIOS and cannot be changed.

Some computers laptops satellite supports an additional option in the Toshiba HWSetup. It allows to change the CPU dynamically switchable or always low frequency mode.
This would set the temperature to a lower level and the fans would lead occasionally.

In any case, to my knowledge, this option is not available in the Toshiba HWSetup and not in the BIOS so I guess that it s not possible to control fan behavior.

By the way; If you wish, you can test a tool like aSpeedFanfreeware.
This program can control the speed of the fans according to the temperatures of the system.
Maybe it will work on your Satellite Pro U300

  • Control the fan on Satellite Pro 2100

I used to see the analysis of the cpu temp with speedfan, I'd see when the temp (labeled local or remote or temp1, I don't remember.) Maybe 'local').
    reached 50 or 50 >, fan went.

But I can't find that now. The fan still works ' cos I can activate it with speedfan saying speedfan set to 50% or more, then it lights.
(less than 50% it is not lit, or at low speed - I think a constant - it is inaudible).

I would like to know why the fan is not when the temperature reaches 50 > more... When the setting is...
is there a program I can use to do?

    He finds...
you know toshiba replaces the thing of power management with its own thing in toshiba power saver. Toshiba power saver thing had a framework...

    "Cooling method.
    and
    "Intel Speedstep Technology.

Each is adjustable to the Performance, or optimized battery or something.

More course set the method of 'performance' of cooling... If you say 'battery optimized' then I think that the processor gets hot enough.

Whereas, for the technology intel speedstep... I do not remember that I put there, but I guess that optimized battery would make the CPU cooler.

However, I noticed when changing the settings of the more advanced page of toshiba power saver setting processor speed to the lowest, it was extremely slow but still an idle at high temperature, about 50 I think, not so much if any difference there.

I think it was less 0 charge, or charge of 0 to 10. I watch the load with notebook hardware control, speedfan and maybe other programs... However, only was necessary.

    Hi Arnoud

Please be careful and make attention that your device can catch his breath. This means that you should have a clear space around your device (no books or papers that does not allow enough air for the cooling fan).

The following reason may be dust or something else. It is possible that dust blocking the wind. He is also cooling method that you can set in the management of the power of your unit.

  • Possibility to control the fan and the temperature under Linux

    Hi all.

I suspect that my fan has stopped working. My satellite T110 tends to heat more quickly than in the past. After a brief search, I installed lm-sensors, and leave the settings by default yesterday reported temperature was 54 degrees. Today the same tool report processor temperature of 32 ° C when I went away and 50 ° C now, after 32 minutes. I was not be able to check the fan but as far as I can see the fan does not work. I would be really grateful if someone could tell me.

    1. If there is a reliable method to control es Linux pc (or even under windows, I have a system dual boot)
    2. What are the possible limits (non-hazardous)
    3. what could I do to fix my fan? It is easy to replace?
    4. a useful link to get information and support on the subject.

Thanks a lot to you all.

Is that what you found answers?
As you know Toshiba doesn't support Linux and doesn't offer solutions for this.
In my opinion, you should visit some Linux forum and try to find a solution with Linux experts.

  • Satellite A210-MS9 overheats like crazy with the fans always on

    Dear forum members (and guests)

I am a happy owner of the Satellite A210-MS9 laptop, and I'm having a major problem. This notebook is so hot, for nothing. as it will close for more than a day and the second I turn it on. the fan mounts like crazy and it disables never (EVER), noise is killing me, makes me emotional stress. and not only that, I thought the problem of vista, so I installed xp, same problem. I even turned off all the pleasure of the eyes in XP (imagine that) However, the fan never stops and it is too strong. so I went to google (for all best friend) I have found that the average temperature. for a system like mine is 29.6 (top) and 30.9 c (bottom)

So I downloaded CpuCOOL to check my temperature, guess what was my average temp, it's 50 ° c. 50, it is 67% more than it should be.
I don't know if I'm the only poor with his laptop tries to kill him with emotion, but I need help, desperately. now I see why they call this thing a laptop more, because you can never he put on his knees (if you want to have children) and I want to have kids.

    good luck and good night

    Hi Pauleece,

Looks like there is dust in the heat sink causing the CPU overheating. This happens to all laptops used in dusty environments.

A quick fix would be to blow into the air vents when the laptop is turned off. This will reverse the flow of dust and dislodge. You can also use compressed air to blow off the dust.

But if its in bad shape, you will need to disassemble the laptop and dust correctly. An ASP can do for you for a small fee.

  • G7-2017us Pavilion: laptop computer is hot and the fan is noisy

I have windows 7. 64 bit. I noticed that the laptop gets very hot and the fan makes noise. Try to solve this problem I went the HPSA. It shows that I have no update necessary; However when I go to the HP site and I ask him to identify my system it shows a lot of updates pending. This is why I need help with 2 questions, one the heat generated and the second on the updates. I also checked, and it shows that I have the latest version of the Support Assistant. The updates are all from 2016 and 2 refer to the BIOS.

I'm not well informed on the issues, any help will be appreciated

The update of the BIOS F.26 is important because of security concerns. The change log States:

'Provides security improved for UEFI EDK2

HP strongly recommends transition immediately to this BIOS update. »

It will not hurt to delete the sp66805 folder. I suggested it because it confuses you with the process of downloading/installation asking you to replace it.

You could try to change of name, it will probably work.

  • Satellite A300-Y00 black screen but the fan from

I bought a TOSHIBA satellite A300/Y00 in June 2008 – 16 months. Model number PSAGOA-02Y. After ten months he did not start suddenly. It sounds like the processor and the fan starts but the screen and the led underneath the screen was all black. I tried to connect it to an external monitor, but the screen was too black. I gave her to Toshiba for 2 weeks (!) who said it was the motherboard. They replaced for free that it was still under warranty.

A few weeks ago the same thing happened again. I turned off it and for some reason at random, he started as usual a few hours later. I called Toshiba to say that, in my view, that computer will crash soon again. They said that they will be able to take it in for service, but if they could not find anything wrong with it that they would charge me $ x. I don't give him service. I even went to a local Toshiba support guy who said that he couldn't find anything wrong with my computer and that there nothing that could do.

Now the same thing is happening again. This time I can't do it again. Of course their fantastic 3 months for the last motherboard warranty has expired. I tried to take out the battery and start it only to the power, but it does not help.

I don't want to pay $500 for a new motherboard, and then drop it again. It is obvious that it is a hardware problem and I think that Toshiba should replace my computer free of charge.

Anyone with similar problems? Any advice? Get pretty annoyed...

    Hello!

Have you ever contacted again authorized service provider? If this is not the case, do please! You should talk about it again with technicians and then you will see what they can do for you.

I can understand that it is irritated, but these things can happen and I think that the ASP will be best for you help you. To be honest, I have good experience with my ASP. The repair goes very fast and the technicians are very friendly and knowledgeable. It of always nice to talk a bit with them.

I m not a technician, but maybe they can fix it as a gesture of good will or if you only have to pay the motherboard and not Exchange

    Welcome them

  • Satellite M35x-s109 - screen is black, the fan works momentarily then nothing

I have a Satellite M35x-s109 (4 years and more under warranty). I went to turn on the laptop after being in hibernation for a few hours.

The fan kicks on momentarily - then stopped working. The screen displays a picture very very low sign windows on the screen but nothing else. I can not even a cursor appears. It is powered as indicated by the Green led on the front of the laptop. The battery is fully charged. I tried to connect with the power adapter as well. I tried to connect an external monitor to the laptop.

The only image that appears is the Windows form indicating which loads. Then after a few seconds of loading, the image on the external monitor is empty and the monitor goes into sleep mode. The laptop is turned off automatically or custom fade at all and the only way for me to turn it off is to take out the battery.

Any ideas what's wrong with the laptop? Thanks in advance.

It's very strange question. try to remove the battery, leave cell phone 20 minutes without any food and try to start with power current only. Try it without, and later with the external monitor.

When the external monitor goes into standby mode, try to use the FN + F5 key combination to see if you get the image on the external screen again.
Play a little with it. If nothing is done it may be something serious with the screen and I'm afraid that you need professional help.

  • Upgrade to Win 8.1 the fan runs all the time and Raw (Silkypix) converter consume 100% CPU resources

Hi, after upgrading to win 8 to 8.1 win my converter (Silkypix) raw program running extremely slow and consuming 100% of CPU. VAIO all updates completed, all Win 8.1 updates made. ATM Radeon HD 7500 M / 7600M (Maj) with 2 GB RAM dedicated.

In addition, the fan works almost all the time that was not the case with Win 8.

Vaio SVE1712Z1EB with 8 GB of RAM, i7 processor execution.

SeanQ, after some time looking for a solution I finally found it on one of the vaio sites forum: it is the Radeon driver that must be installed from the Vaio support site. NOT the driver the latest AMD site. It does not solve the problem.

I did as follows: device, graphics card, Uninstall Manager. Did not help. Went to AMD in Program files. Setup.exe has begun, but instead of installation, clicked on uninstall. In this way, I uninstalled the driver former AMD and bad news from the site of AMD. I had to manually uninstall the driver in Device Manager, several times. Finally, I went to the site of Vaio and tried updating the driver. He failed. Reset. Manually start the update of the Vaio AMD driver. Finally it worked.

The fan is now more or less normal speed.

Overall, I spent 15 hours looking for this solution. How much is my time worth? Just joking, I'm happy that I found the solution.

  • Pavilion g6-1165 his: the fan runs almost constantly

Hello. My fan turns quite continuously. I just installed a new HARD drive and the data is restored. I remember I had this problem some time ago and I cured it by updating the BIOS. This time, I have updated drivers up-to-date and don't get any yellow excalmation point on Device Manager. I've updated the BIOS. I looked at the openings on the underside, and they have clear air. I went into the Task Manager and stop any program that shows the use of the processor (like chrome) and it is still ongoing. The air coming out feels quite warm. I took it outside to see if a burst of cold air he'd stop, but that did not work. I don't really want to disassembly to clean the ventilation openings when they have clear air from the outside. Any help much appreciated woiuld. Thank you.

Thank you very much for your answer. It seems that there is dust of vision when I blew air compressed as described on the HP website a large amount is released. The fan has kept silent since. Thank you once again. Problem solved.
