the hard drive of my dell xps 420 has been removed nothing has been saved. my computer is now junk, or my data can be recovered? Need help real bad

About two years ago, some so-called friends takes my computer to my home. He truned into a question of law. I finally got it back. However they took the hard drive. And I'm almost 100% sure that nothing has been saved. where should I go from here, the computer is any good? This P.C. I encrypted a $ 1000.00. What should I do?

Hello

You can get a new hard drive and reinstall Windows on it.

Check with the manufacturer of system for options.

If it will run Windows 7, which would be the best option.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

If they were under a court order to return the computer of course sounds like they should have to
Return it with a drive hard and in good condition. Mybe not because I don't know any of the details.

I hope this helps.

I fixed it! I used the string analyze function waiting in the Task Manager while opening a PDF file and have to wait 12 seconds... and it showed that the wait chain has been blocked by the Speech SDK. So I went to my Plugins of PDF from Adobe folder, which in my case is C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\plug_ins and delete the plugin ReadOutLoud.api. (I had to close all instances of Acrobat DC first, and I had to also click the UAC Popup Windows application approval raised to remove the plugin) Now... instant Adobe Acrobat DC charge!

  • Can I download drivers for Dell XPS 420 girl (windows xp) on my computer (Dell Studio 17 Windows 7) on a cd instead of install on my computer?

I done a clean install on Dell XPS 420 after a crash.  Windows XP works fine, but it continues to ask that drivers can be installed before I can get on my internet which is At & T DSL with external modem.  When I try to go on the internet, it gives me the error of pilots.  I had what I thought, it was the disk drivers that came with the computer, but when I installed and then it is still asking for the correct drivers.  I called At & t for their support and they said I needed drivers.  That's why I came to Microsoft to download the drivers on my Dell Studio 17 on a cd, so I can load them onto the computer Dell XPS 420.  I was afraid to install on my computer because my Windows 7 running.

I don't know if I can load my Windows 7 and its drivers on the dell Xps 420.  It was a solution, I thought, but I'm not that computer from common sense to see if that might spoil the Dell XPS 420.   Any help would be appreciated.

Using another computer, go to the Dell support website and search the Windows XP drivers for your specific model number. Using your Dell's Service tag number is the fastest way to get the correct drivers.
    http://support.Dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=Gen

If there is then Windows XP Download drivers into a folder (with subfolders named "Chipset", "LAN", "Audio", etc) on your hard drive and burn all files on a CD driver.

Then, insert the CD into the computer XPS 420 and install all of the driver files, starting with the mother/chipset, SATA, Firewire card drivers (1394), LAN, Audio, etc, and so on.

For the problems of graphics card check download site of the manufacture of the graphics card for the latest Windows 7 drivers for your card.

  • Using the HARD drive of a Tecra A4 as a for another laptop external HARD drive.

I have a Toshiba Tecra A4. I want to use the HARD drive as a second hard drive to another laptop, but it seemed to me that the HDD in Tecra A4 has a special bond that does not fit in a standard externel HDD-Bay. Anyone know how I can use the HARD Tecra A4 drive as an external HARD drive?

Subquestion: is it not possible to use a 2.5 "HARD drive normal in a Toshiba Tecra A4?

    Hello

AFAIK Tecra A4 has 2.5 inch HDD inside. But the HARD drive has another connector HARD drive that you can remove. The HARD drive is placed in the HARD drive chassis and fixed with four screws. Remove the screw and the connector. Be very carefully and take it easy.

After that you can use in other laptops.

  • Dell XPS 420 with Vista Home Premium, replaced the hard drive, download now blue screen errors

My girlfriend has a desktop Dell XPS 420 quit working a year or 2 ago. A computer technician told me that it sounded as if the hard drive was bad, recently I purchased from Dell, a Seagate 1 TB hard drive (the original is a Western Digital 320 GB).

I bought also, once again from Dell, a copy of its installation discs for Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

I installed the new hard drive, correctly, as far as I can tell, but I tried several times over the past days to install Vista and a few times I got errors (BSoD) STOP and a few other times, Windows Installer errors.

    What's wrong?

I run Dell diagnostics that took almost a whole day, but I don't think anything. I have not partitioned the hard drive, it's like 931 GB.

I think that may be something related to the RAM, but I'm not sure.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

Here is the information on the Dell Diagnostics:

And Dell has provided information on how to reinstall Vsta using their recovery disks.

  • Backup impossible - Vista Ultimate, Dell XPS 420, WD 320 external (eSATA) drive - error 0 x 81000006 and 0 x 81000014

Hello, I've had this problem for some time now, and it's very frustrating.  I can't save the disk correctly - there have been times that I've been able to do a full backup, but subsequent backups then failed, and other times, I can't yet do a full backup.

I have a DELL XPS 420 PC, running Vista Ultimate.  I also have a 320 GB Western Digital external hard drive connected via eSATA.

I had problems with backup from the beginning.  Previous suggestions have been to ensure that the drive is formatted in NTFS (it is) and to make sure that I am able to see the drive from the computer and access (I can).

I got two different types of error messages:

    ================================
    Error message:

The backup location cannot be found or is not valid. Check your backup settings and check your hardware configuration. (0 x 81000006)

    Backup time: 12-09-2009 01:05

The backup location: My Book (z :))

    Error message:

There is not enough space on your Windows drive to prepare for the backup of your files. At least 400 MB of free space is required to continue. (0 x 81000014)

    Backup time: 05/01/2010 18:38
The backup location: My Book (z :))

    [Start over] [Settings] [Close]

    ==============================

What could be the problem? What I might try?  Please let me know if I can provide any other information that might help.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!

    Hey, Ronna,.

Sorry I didn't saw this post earlier - I hope you were able to solve your problem.

Here's what I figured out around miner (on mine - after hours and hours of research):

The message 'no space' was more a message "no memory" for me - I understand that if I have a large number of open programs, that is causing the error.

The other mistake, I was getting, it was simply that the external HD had stopped spinning - now, whenever it says backup failed because he could not find the hard drive I press the power button on the back of the drive (I have a MyBook Western Digital external hard drive 320), run it, and then it works fine.

I hope this helps someone else.

  • Have a computer dell laptop. replaced the hard drive; tried to install my Windows XP and my product key is not accepted. I was wondering why and how do to accomplish this task.

My dell laptop had the hard drive replaced.  My son, who knows computers, installed the new hard drive.  Then he tried to install my Windows XP Professional software - when it came time to put the product key #, it was not accepted.  It's authentic.  The product key is: * removed *.

There no mention of this issue in section outages or other information provided in the booklet provided.  Can you help me with this problem?

The license key and product type must match (XP Home vs XP Pro;)  (and OEM license vs the retail license).  If it's a Dell computer and you get the product key from a sticker on the case, then there is likely a version of Windows XP OEM this product key.  If you install Windows XP from a retail installation disk, then the types of licenses will not match.  You will need to use the license that accompanies the retail installation disc or you will need to contact Dell for an OEM installation disc to go with the license on your sticker case.

  • Sound weird coming from the hard drive, every Min or 2-Dell Inspiron 15R SE 7520

Not really sure if this is still a bad question. This player has not yet failed. It's just making a weird noise, I have no idea what could be the cause.

    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=XwYSdD4fyRU

The ticking, in this video, is exactly the same. The only difference. Undermines the fact every 1 min, sometimes every 2 minutes... and sometimes all 3 or 4 minutes. And he just does the ticking sound once. not again and again.

If a tick from time to time. You can hear only - when everything is guiet? Just a tick and it disappears for a while?

Does that mean that my drive has failed? Reason why I'm asking. After a year of use, the hard drive has failed-It just died. Dell has replaced the disc/Msata too. It was near another year, with replacement. Is this a sign that I should back up and save all my info. Contact dell.

IF kills laptop another disk hard-is there a chance of the motherboard is defective?

Things that I've tried - defragment the disk, I even check and repair sectors... found nothing.

    Any help would be appreciated...

thought about upgrading to an ssd, but I really want to do, if the motherboard is to kill hard drives?

    Thanks for reading

Here I am again, a bit frustrated... Has achieved a good response when I posted... but nothing else after that... Different response of old Story/Issue...same... (((I thought of it out on mine)))

Don't know if that's the right answer, but I thought that if there was someone out there with the same problem, it might give you some answers.

After reading and Goggling... I found a few different answers... "My favorite, but NOT CORRECT"... Your drive is dying, you must back up all the files and save them to an external disk, before it fails... where there is a click or a bad sector... it will multiply and more.

Of course, there is a simple answer from someone who knows nothing about the hard drive. But incorrect. Especially if you do not experience problems or blue screens.

A hard click or clunk, may be two different things. Non of them pointing to a player out. Depending on the player, it could be a bad sector. It could be one of 2 things, "THERMAL CALIBRATION ROUTINES", or it could be "ADVANCE DRIVE PROTECTION".

I don't understand how an any of them work, but a quick Google search should provide you with answers.

On my drive a simple defrag helped. Now I hear the noise, every once and awhile. Sometimes I don't hear it at all in a session. You are not sure if it was a coincidence? But I feel much better knowing what to do.

Thanks for reading my question and post

  • Dell Vostro 430 sometimes breaks down and does not find the hard drive in the bios

So I have this old - ish Dell Vostro 430, intel cpu, windows 7 hard disk sata 250 GB, 4 GB of ram.

Update BIOS to the latest version 2.4.0

In certain exceptional circumstances, this PC sometimes crashes in windows, it is restarted, and then when he comes back it does not find the hard drive as a gift. He is not seen in the bios and does not start.

To fix, I have to unplug the power cable, wait a few seconds, plug in, reboot the computer and it starts normally, load windows and everything.

So far, I have tried to paginate on another hard disk, reinstall the Windows operating system from scratch, and same thing happens from time to time.

It is difficult to find the cause of the problem, because this happens very rarely.

Sometimes, when the pc is turned on for the first time in the morning, the hard drive is not found by the bios and we reappear at the same trick (disconnect the power cable) to take him back.

When it crashes when using inside Windows, it seems that the reason is the computer can't find the hard drive.

Such computer is out of warranty.

It would be nice to just throw this computer because it is still fine for the work it has to do, + I have Windows and Office OEM license on it, as well as many other software that I have to reinstall etc.etc.

No idea what I could troubleshoot?

Maybe change the motherboard? How can I buy a new motherboard for an out of warranty Dell?

While possibly keeping all the OEM licenses (Windows 7 and Office 2007).

    Desu
    .. .once in a while...

That will make hard to resolve this situation.

    • Have you tried to replace the battery in the motherboard, if nothing else than to exclude it? CR2032, 3-volt lithium-ion, ~ $2 at discount stores. Do not forget to open the BIOS Setup and copy down all current settings first because remove battery BIOS resets the default values, which is maybe not correct for your specific system.
    • Have you tried another SATA data cable, or reinstall the existing at both ends?
    • Have you reinstall RAM and PCI card in their slots?
    • Have you used canned air to blow out the dust?
    • Maybe a power supply problem... ? If insufficient voltage, he could not start the HARD drive quite fast at startup, or quick enough after your option settings to be able to turn the HARD drive off when it is not accessed, what may cause this error message 'not found '.
    • If you use a power strip or surge protector, have you deleted and the PC connected directly to a wall jack?

If it is a motherboard defective and you replace it with another jury of Vostro 430, you shouldn't have any problems with Windows or Office licenses. Assuming you are using Windows Dell reinstall for exact same version of Windows drive that was installed at the factory, it should not even ask the product key, if you must reinstall Windows on the HARD drive. But even if she asks, there should be a sticker somewhere on the PC with your unique product key so you can enter if the installer made the request.

and make sure you have the Office product key too...

  • Can I clean the hard drive before installing Windows Dell & as I've heard doesent clean properly. And how to clean the drive of DART?

Can I clean hard drive before installing Dell Windows 7 / as I have heard it is not clean everything properly. So how to clean the hard drive?

Or can I restore my office before you install Windows 7 in the first place when it's new?

    Kind regards

    Bert Pooler

Yes, you can restore the State as it was when new...

Your computer is equipped with a recovery instead of disk partition...

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

You may need to try several times to get everything above to work. If after several attempts, you have no chance, or the machine indicates that there is no recovery partition, your only option is to contact the computer manufacturer and ask for the model recovery discs...

After the reset, you should get all the updates from Windows Update EXCEPT for hardware devices. Then, you install a good antivirus. ONLY AFTER you have done this, if you replace the stuff of backups or install anything else.
