  • iPad is set to optimize the storage of photos from device. App Photoshop Express will edit the reduced size copy stored on the device, or automatically process the iCloud kept a life-size?

Can someone advise please?  I copy all my photos from SD card in my iPad and the use of the Photoshop Express application to modify.  iPad is set to optimize the storage of photos from device. Edit app Photoshop Express small size kept on the device, copy or automatically will process the iCloud a life-size?

I guess you'll have to manually lower the file full resolution first. I would ' t think that any application would just go and take it automatically from the Cloud. You may need to check if you have not already.

  • If I upload my photos to the iCloud library remain my original photos on my MacBook Pro?

If I upload my photos to the iCloud library remain my original photos on my MacBook Pro?

Yes, they do. See:iCloud photo library - Apple Support

Note that if you open the Photos on your Mac and go to preferences and click on iCloud at the top of the preferences window, there are 2 options: 'Download the originals of this Mac' and 'Optimize Mac storage.' If you choose the option optimize and your Mac is low on storage space, then the originals can be replaced with smaller optimized versions.

  • move the external drive photo library to iCloud

    Hello

I just bought the option 1 TB, for my 300 GB library. With my MBP, I use an external hard drive, but I won't use it... So I sent the 300 GB, but if I start the Photo, there's still the library on disk external HARD... is not possible to use iCloud as the main library?

    Thank you very much.

    Fred of France

iCloud library is essentially a synchronization services to keep your library in iCloud as centralized storage and reference to synchronize all volumes.  If you change a photo to one of your libraries on one of your devices, the changes will be updated in iCloud and synchronize all of your devices that are synchronizing with iCloud photo library. All libraries on all synchronized devices will always display the same pictures, montages, albums, metadata.

So you will need a library t sync with your Mac.  To save storage, you can use the "Optimize Mac storage" option in the preferences to iCloud. Then the image original high-resolution fies will be stored only in icloud and your Mac will replace them with smaller and optimized, versions if the storage is not enough for the version high resolution.

  • Possible to delete the pix of Photos & keep about iCloud?

I'm a jump and move photos to another management/editing software. I want 90 GB free on my Macbook Pro by deleting all my photos photos, but I want to KEEP all my photos (30,000 of them) in iCloud.

It is an intermediate movement until I am sure that I don't want to use the Photos.

Is this possible? Is it as simple as click on the button "Optimize Mac Storage" in the Panel preferences of Photos? Or is it possible to actually DELETE the pictures of my HD while keeping on iCloud?

    Thank you-

Is this possible? Is it as simple as click on the button "Optimize Mac Storage" in the Panel preferences of Photos? Or is it possible to actually DELETE the pictures of my HD while keeping on iCloud?

If you click on "Optimize storage", Photos will remove more original images, if you are running out of storage and replace with smaller optimized versions.

It will be a dynamic process and take a long time.

The fastest solution would be to move your photo library on an external drive, then remove it from your system disk. If you keep iCloud active library, you can still use iCloud photo library, if your external drive is connected, and you do the library on your external drive your system library.

Or you can disable iCloud photo library on your Mac in ' Photos > Preferences > iCloud. Do not click on "Disable and remove" in system preferences > iCloud > Photos. The photos will remain in iCloud.

Then don't use that the web interface for iCloud to www.icloud.com > Photos

See this help https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/phtf5e48489cpage. -the last paragraph "stop using iCloud photo library.

Important: If you decide to disable iCloud photo library, first be sure to select 'Download this Mac originals' in the iCloud Photos preferences pane, then all your original photos can be downloaded from iCloud to your Mac. Be sure to leave your originals to download before shutting iCloud library completely.

    • Choose Photos > Preferences, then click on iCloud.
    • Uncheck the box for iCloud photo library to turn it off.

After having turned off iCloud photo library, the Photos on your Mac app can't access your iCloud library, and changes you make to photos on your Mac do not appear on other devices. Your library remains in iCloud and available to other devices than iCloud use photo library. To disable iCloud photo library on all your devices, open the iCloud of system preferences pane, click on the button manage, then click on photo library. Click on "Disable and remove." Your photos and videos will be deleted icloud library within 30 days, unless you click Undo deletion before that date.

I understand that if I delete the pictures and videos from my iphone which photos and videos will remove also iCloud.

iCloud library is not designed as an external storage or a backup service. It is designed as a synchronization service to put at the disposal of all your images on all your devices and sync all of your changes to these devices.

If you are short on storage space, set the settings of your Photos to keep only a local library optimized. Library of photos on your computer should, however, be at full resolution, so it acts as a backup in iCloud. Buy an external hard drive if you wish.

  • A small question about iCloud photo storage

    Hello

I was wondering if once the internal memory of the iPhone is full iCloud will continue store photos? Or the phone must have storage for iCloud to store? I just want to know before you buy an extra 50gig.

    Thank you

iCloud is NOT a hard drive in the sky.

iCloud photo library is designed to synchronize photos between your device and your iCloud-storage space. If you choose the OPTIMIZATION setting, the device will have files small size phone while files are in iCloud. This can drastically reduce the needs of storage on your phone.

The number of photos and videos on your device is always synchronized between your phone and iCloud. Remove deletions from one place to another.

iCloud "will not continue storing the photos...» "for you.

  • Why are my photos not sending to the iCloud?

Please help me I'm about to lose my mind once again with iCloud! Why my recent photos on my phone take loads of space when all is one on download on the iCloud? When I login to iCloud my of I see that all my photos are there which is great, but they are also always on my "library" containing the 5 GB. When I click on recent photos they appear just and not download with loading sign bit that comes inside it is why they take place on the phone I think. We were on vacation recently so have in particular taken over pictures of the kids! What should I do? I am so angry!

iCloud is a synchronization system, not an external 'hard drive '. If you remove them on your device, they will remove icloud. To increase the available space, go settings/iCloud/Photos and select optimize iPhone/iPad storage. That will reduce the space required by 90% when it is fully effective.

  • Paradigm of photo storage? (too many Go to the new computer)

    Summary:

I'm at the point of having to upgrade and get a new iMac for me.  Most of them have not nearly enough storage space for my photos/videos stored in the pictures.  I'm looking for advice in planning to implement a new "main" computer for the home/host Photos that will work for me. I know I maybe need to update my paradigm of Setup to get the best solution (had to do to get photos for devices of the family and now that I thought about it, it works very well!).

    Details:

My current main computer is a big iMac 2009. With a 1 TB drive - who doesn't have 2 - 3 years. Replaced by a 2 TB drive (Seagate) which lasted a whole year and failed.  Replaced by a 3 TB drive (I think it's a Western?) which works very well... so far.  I have Time Machine backups on a dedicated (3 TB) external drive, so it took a lot of getting up and running when it happened, fortunately.  I did the physical replacement of the disks myself without incident.

My current photo library says it's 708GB in size. Library.photolibrary of iPhoto is 558 GB (I can do without it?).  In my storage of 'about this Mac' tab he said films take 609GB, and take some Photos 379 GB. "Free of 2.79 to 1.18 TB."

I've considered using iCloud, but I can't currently feel like I can afford $ 120 / year for storage...  Amazon has unlimited storage for $60 / year, but I'm not wanting something that do not integrate well (even if I am slightly consider it for a backup option).

These are all our personal digital photos/videos for the past 14 years and no, I'm really not to split the library and not have everything at my fingertips... In addition, I want that they all in an accessible digital format for now.

    My ideas:

I could buy a new iMac or slightly used and replace the hard drive with a bigger drive (not sure how friendly models current are for that!) and as I have.

I could get the new iMac and keep an external drive running with the storage of Photos on it. But then I have questions on it being backed up with Time Machine.

What else is there to implement I think not?  Are there other aspects that I think not?

My current photo library says it's 708GB in size. Library.photolibrary of iPhoto is 558 GB (I can do without it?)

If you don't use iPhoto, you can delete the iPhoto library but you don't get the whole GB 558.  The two libraries share the same data on the HDD through hard links initially so that they only take twice the amount of space on the hard disk.

New photos added to each library are independent of the other library.

Here is more information about hard links:

Photos saves disk space to share images with your iPhoto or Aperture - Apple Support libraries

The (hard) link between Photos and iPhoto

I've considered using iCloud, but I can't currently feel like I can afford $ 120 / year for storage...  Amazon has unlimited storage for $60 / year

The iCloud is not a storage system off Mac where you can put your library of PHotos and the operator there from there.  It's a synchronization system that allows you to synchronize your photos between all devices that are connected to the same Apple ID and the active library iCloud.  You may have the option for the version store only optimized on your Mac to save space.  However, the full versions will have to be downloaded any time, that the pictures are needed for printing, in a project or for a slide show.

All iCloud options are features of synchronization and require files to be obscured on Mac.

Also there is no option of storage online library of Photos that can be stored on and used or recovered in a guaranteed condition.  Their servers are not correctly formatted and are incompatible with the libraries of Photos.

I could get the new iMac and keep an external drive running with the storage of Photos on it. But then I have questions on it being backed up with Time Machine.

This is the solution that I would recommend.  Time Machine backs up any external hard drive connected to your iMac. I have 2 EHD connected to my iMac that is backed up to my 3rd DHM with Time Machine.

For best performance, I'd get an iMac with an internal SSD and at least 8 GB of memory.  If you get the iMac to get Apple just RAM standard because you can update yourself much less expensive by getting the modules from Crucial.com or otherworldcomputing.com.  Be aware, however, that several iMac 21 "cannot have their RAM added after purchase. They are not updated in the user level.   All the iMac 27 "have expandable RAM user.

If you buy an iMac opportunity do not forget the former owner has prepared according to this document from Apple: what to do before you sell or give away your Mac - Apple Support. Otherwise, you could get the problems of implementation for your use.
