Can not download the update for Windows Media Player in order to play protected files
I am trying to download a digital copy of a movie. I am told:
You upgrade the Windows Media Player security components to play the files on your computer. Upgrade, please follow the instructions below:
- Step 1: Click here for the upgrade of security.
- Step 2: After the upgrade is complete, click on the button 'Next' below.
When I click on the link, it takes me to a page:
http://drmlicense.one.Microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp
It says to click on the upgrade button, but the upgrade button is not clickable. How can I download this update so I can get my digital copy? He says I'm in compatibility mode for Windows Media Player for windows 95. I hope this helps. Thanks in advance for your help :)

Oscardog,
I posted this article, assuming you had Windows 7 on your computer. My bad. Sorry about that!
Make SFC scan and check if any system files are intact and fine.

Windows Media Player 'page not found' and .wax files
Accidentally, I posted this in the Windows 7 forum, please excuse the double post:
Your help is greatly appreciated.
I have problems when you try to play Windows Media Player/Media Guide/Internet Radio.
When I chose 'listen' for a station, I get a box of "do you want to or save this open file."
If I chose open, I get an error "this program cannot display this webpage".
If I choose to save, I save a .wax file (at this time I going to my office for my mental health) and double click it to play the station I want to hear. It's very annoying.
I want to do a lot and hope that there is a way to make this process much easier.
I have Windows Media Player 11.0 on Vista Home Premium. I tried to update and it says there is no update.
Thanks again for your help
Please try to set WMP as default player again, by selecting it in the list and click set this program as default .
In addition, this happens with all radio stations, or just one?
The dialog box that opens gets also a checkbox called always ask before opening this type of file ? If so, you can clear the check box and click Open , and the dialog box should not appear more after that.
If that doesn't help either, you can try to delete temporary Internet files and the Internet Explorer Cookies.

Windows Media Player will not play a. MOV file
I have a new Dell laptop with Windows 7 Professional and Windows Media Player will not play a '. MOV' video file completely (the video but not sound). I am told by Microsoft Windows Media Player will not play a MOV file, and I need Codec VLC add on or another player who will play MOV file. What is the best solution and if its for download a Codec VLC, then what is the best source?
Guess why? [ :-) ]
Types of files supported by Windows Media Player:
https://support.Microsoft.com/kb/316992Which was probably that there was a lack of understanding between the container file and the codec here (in November 2013). He says he's a "MOV" does not mean that he plays with the same codecs as all other MOV files. ;-)
It is perhaps a better place to read up on this:

I have long used now on Windows 7, Windows media Player and just got an update from Micorsoft. Set, now when I try to open the drive it tells me the the wmplayer file has a version number of 12.07600.16415 where 12.0.7600.16667 was expected.
Windows media player is not adequately at a standstill and must be reienstalled.
Then wonder if I want to install the player from the microsoft Web site. When I check the Yes box, I go to the site and he informs me that the version that I already paid for only a few months ago on my computer because my computer is relativley new, cannot be downloaded.
There are no other options to fix the problem that caused Microsoft with the update. I tried to do a restore but it then cause a problem which made the player doesn't do not not the CD to record the right as he said that I had to get the new drivers that microsft does not automatically download drivers when they remove them in this process. But again, no tell me what I need drivers. I tried to switch on my computer systems and to find them this way, but it says I have already that I need on my computer?
What should I do? I need this ASAP as I am a singer and rely on this process for my concerts and other...

Original title: metadata key - music
My question is actually very specific: when I keyin track using Media Player Info, is this info inserted in the file itself, or only in the index of Media Player? If I have to rebuild the indexes in the metadata file, the indexed fields are kept in?
Only in the index of Media Player. If you remove this file WMP (without actually deleting the computer/folder) and then read the file again, you would see that your changes have disappeared.
To actually change the file, you will need a program known as ID3 Tag Editor.
