The Installation of VMWare tools failed. In any case to force the update/install VMWare tools?

I used to use VMware Workstation 10 and recently upgraded to VMware workstation 11.  However, whenever I try to install a newer version of VMware tools, it will fail with message saying something like "VMware Tools can be installed in the Virtual Machine.

Yes, I am trying to install VMware Tools within the guest operating system, but I get this notification for all my virtual machines, I'm running.

I'm under 6 Virtual Machines simultaneously and they run on Windows 7 32 bit OS and configured with 4 GB of RAM, 1CPU, 100GB HD + 5 GB second HD for the swap file, NO printer, no sound card.

For each virtual machine, I changed about 50 + key of Windows registry and detect the values to hide from all the programs that they are running on the virtual machine.

I assume due to records, I changed, it confuses VM installer who it is not running on a Virtual Machine.  Then I tried to change all these registers changed to send it back to the original value, yet I is always the same message.

I must be missing either some registry values or values that I restored is false. But I don't know which is the case.

I can simply delete all my Virtual Machines and start again with the new virtual machine, but I don't want to repeat this process whenever a newer version of the VM tools out. and installation of windows and search and replace registry values for each virtual computer is full of works.

So, here is my question.  Anyone know how to force the update / install VM tools in my virtual machine?

P.S. I added under scripts in the file .vmx for each of the virtual machines.  I don't think it would cause the problem but just in case I include it.

    Hi otev,.

Before windows updates, follow these methods.

Method 1: Reset the Windows Update components.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

Method 2: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3: Put the computer in a clean boot State prior to update installation to see if there are any software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After the clean boot for troubleshooting, return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

You can also manually install updates (KB number) by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.

  • Blue screen of death after the update installed at startup upward.

I have windows xp sp3 after installed updates don't know which ones, because the installed when I stop and 52 of them there I now get a blue screen of death which says:

    Stop: c000007b {bad image}

The application or DLL? \c:\windows\system32\winsrv.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

I can't go to the safe mode get the same error and same with the last known good configuration. I can't even to safe mode command prompt, system, or debug mode recovery still giving me the same error. I repaired windows 3 times already and the same thing happens each time after that some update that I don't know he messes all this. Give me advice. I have antivirus Iola system mechanic. I think just to wipe the entire disk and do a clean install if you do not have anything else to tell me I'll do it, but I don't know if that even the problem will be solved because there seems to be a problem of windows software update. I also notice from the internet explorer 7 installed it stops working a few flashes upwards on you whenever you try to open it up if it's maybe part of the problem too. I do not plan to let internet 7 install go into all this time.

Install the updates one at a time or 5 at the time may not be a bad idea.  Then when it breaks watch you and see if one of those is eager to replace your winsrv.dll file.

You said you DO or DO NOT have to System Mechanic configured to run at startup?  Sometimes after installation of the updates, who see the new files (and if they are obsolete), can interpret the new legitimate files to be a threat.  If you could get started and uninstall that (at least temporarily) that would eliminate this possibility of this equation of many variables.

You should make a bootable CD of XP (no XP media required) Recovery Console.

You see, Microsoft support engineers won't tell you how to do this either - since there is not an article of KB Microsoft Bing and link to.

If you have a SATA drive, which will give you another challenge because you need to maybe get into BIOS and temporarily change the disk other than SATA configuration mode so the Recovery Console will be able to see, replace the suspicious winsrv.dll file, change the SATA drive and reboot...

First, do the XP Recovery CD of Console and if you are able to use a system of work to ensure that the CD you made at least boots (you don't have to "do" something with it), which would be a good thing.

    Here's how:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

When you install ImgBurn, DO NOT install the Ask toolbar.

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

It is on the same computer.  The PC has the standard COMPUTER stuff.  VIper and they handle most of the firewall settings (windows).  I have turned them all off before installing.  I think it was a matter of execution engine.  I have no time to fight with LabView, so I uninstalled all LabView!  Then I made a new installation of the DVD.  This works.  I never install a patch of NOR without a week of free time!  In others, ever!  Whenever I do it, it takes me at least a day to get my operating environment!  Thanks for your time.  It is appreciated.

  • Office Ko missing update in the updates installed, but Windows 7 says it is installed.

One of my users knew a bug in Microsoft Office 2010, so I installed the good Office Update KB3085604.  Unfortunately, the user still knows the problem of Microsoft Office so I decided to check to see if the update was successfully installed.  When I go to "View installed updates", the KB3085604 of office does not appear. I tried to type in the Installed Updates research and he said: "no items match your search.

What is strange, is that if I try to re - install the update, it says it's already installed and if you check the update history, it says that it has been installed. But even once, it does not appear in the installed updates.

I tried to uninstall the update through command prompt using the wusa uninstall and it said that there is no such thing as the update. Looking for the path of updates installed on windows XP, Windows 7. I mean the location in the drive and the folder

Not quite sure what you mean but, in Windows XP, updates are stored on the root drive (the drive where Windows is installed in) in
    WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download
The uninstall files are stored in subfolders hidden from the Windows directory and are named $NtUninstallKBxxxxxx$.

Windows 7 puts the updates in the same location as XP, but they are not reusable, because their content is stored in the BONES (in Volume Shadow service and component based) as are their uninstall information.

  • Interface Web links do not always work properly (check the updates, install app)

    OS 6.4.1, RN10200.

I have 2 servers ReadyNAS (2 x RN10200). On one, when I click on for example, "check for updates", a pop-up window opens and he tells me that my OS is up to date. When I click on the link even on the other, the arrow device turns into a turning circle for a while and then comes back to arrow down, and that's all - it is not whether or not the operating system is up-to-date, or offer to upgrade. In order to upgrade the OS, I have to manually do it.

Another example: I can not install the application on the NAS that is not fully functional. I click on 'Applications', get the list, click on install (from any application) and receive an app error message failed (2nd pop-up, one says that she prepares packages). Then, my browser window restarts the connection to the admin page and I'm on the System tab.

The other NAS doesn't have this problem. The problems started when a system hung during the upgrade of the OS to 6.4.1. I had to do a factory reset (in fact, I tried to do a reload of the OS from flash which then ended in a complete reinstallation I can tell) and then manually install the operating system.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Piet Stevens

You are absolutely right. Thank you very much as I had no idea what it was. But your support made immediately in the right place. Very much appreciated.

Once I try these options from the dialog box get, with startup repair, System Restore, system image recovery, Windows memory Diagnostic and invites but not these wil do anything either.

What can I do so that he could start over again what can I remove updates?

Yes it's true. You just need to download the .exe file top of page (Firefox Setup 25.0.1.exe).

Save it to your computer, double click and you should get a wizard to guide you through the installation.
