  • Hit the buttons in the center of the keyboard causes reboot

Greetings. I have a 2007 MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz Intel Core Duo, El Capitan (10.11.6), 6 GB, 640 GB hard drive, 15 "display.

Every once in a while, when I tap on a button in the center of the keyboard, the computer will restart. G, H and F keys seem to cause it. For awhile, I thought that it was limited to when I hit a key hard (I tend to type with a strong key pressure), now it does same when I'm softer. He's unpredictable, sometimes I can spend weeks without that happening, while at other times it can happen twice a day. It can also happen when I wear the portable peasantry with me in a bag; It seems that a moderate shaking can also cause it.

I now run El Capitan, but the problem also occurred in Mavericks.

I thought it might be caused by a micro-crack in the motherboard, a crack that would become perhaps wider when I hit the keyboard just right, and this expansion of the crack would cause a reboot. So, I thought to get a new motherboard (for various reasons, I can't buy another computer at the moment). I don't know what to buy, however.

If someone else has had a similar experience, any help would be appreciated.

  • The LaCie in Win XP installation problem

I have trouble to configure access to a LaCie Network Space MAX, a 2 TB network drive connected to an ethernet on my provided FIOS Actiontec router port.  I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 and have set up a local network by following the procedures described in "Windows XP part."  My problem is that the LaCie supplied installation application, Network Assistant, can't find the new drive on my network.  I get an error message indicating "LaCie network disk is not found."

The new drive is accessed using this LaCie Support called Server Message Block by clicking Start > run and entering its network address, which is \\192.168.1.4 which brings the player in Windows Explorer.  I can now access the reader in having created a virtual drive 'L' with the address \\192.168.1.4\OpenShare (where OpenShare is the name of the shared folder on the LaCie hard drive) and by implementing a similar entry in my network places.
I have also set up access to the LaCie Network Space MAX on my MacBook Pro (running OS - X) by using the LaCie Network Assistant with no problems.  In the Mac Finder window, the LaCie appears as a server (disc case) accessible via Network Assistant and a disk with the files and folders.
Any ideas on how to get the LaCie Network Assistant to recognize the server/LaCie or what the cause of the problem?  Without Network Assistant runs on the PC, I am unable to access the private on the LaCie shared folder.

    Ball

    Hi ball,

It's a situation very oddish. It can be very dangerous for the motherboard. You he will never b better to contact the Service partner and ask them to clean it up. If you try to do this alone and after this Service partner can see this laptop has been opened you can lose the warranty.

Be very careful. In my opinion the guarantee is very important.

    Good bye

  • Taking the keyboard Y570

I am currently trying to replace the thermal paste on my laptop (Y570), but have problems with the keyboard. I followed the instructions on this video:

    http://m.YouTube.com/#/watch?v=7tE_i91q5vw&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D7tE_i91q5vw

I'm stuck on the part where you take the keyboard. I tried to use a screwdriver to take the keyboard by force, but I accidentally cracked a keyboard to 2 part . I fear on the use of the driver to get out with force the keyboard cause I could damage it. Does anyone know how correctly to the keyboard? I've seen a few videos and they said to push down and pull upwards. I do not exactly understand but I triend to push the lower part of their keyboard while pulling on the top but doesn't always work.

Any ideas? Please help and thanks in advance

    Hi imattf,

The guide to disassembly keyboard starting @ 2:30mins - 3:10mins on this youtube video is accurate, as it follows the same procedure on page 46 and 47 of the hardware maintenance manual.

Rather than use a flat screwdriver or your fingers to remove the keyboard, try to use a plastic pry tool and carefully lift upward from all corners of the keyboard until you remove it completely.

    Hope this helps

  • Keyboard does not work after stopping - restarting required

I shut down my PC overnight. In the morning, when I turn on, the mouse works fine but I can't enter my password using the keyboard. When I press the Caps Lock key, the indicator does not glow. After I use the mouse to make a reboot, the keyboard works fine again. Why the keyboard not work after a stop?

    It happened once or always?

If it were a single boot problem, there is nothing to fear, sometimes a USB port is not so quick to wakeup, mayb try to change the USB port when the keyboard is connected.

Im trying to install a new install of win xp on a dell insp 700 m. all is well until you are ready to hit enter to select where to load windows. the keyboard freezes and crashes. It worked early, when I hit enter to launch the cd? any ideas? TX marty

Thank you! I tried what you mentioned, nothing has worked... I plugged a usb keyboard and it works, so I'm starting to believe it could be a motherboard problem. I finally got windows xp pro installed, no conflicts in Device Manager, all the drivers are installed and now running smooth. I removed the keyboard, and re-set, all connections look good, but still not good. the synaptics keyboard works fine and both rt & lft click the buttons. I pulled the ram to inspect it, it's the right speed, ddr2700, and after running for an hour, it was cold to the touch! I'll try to get a new keyboard and replace it, their pretty good work, if still not good it becomes pieces on ebay... lol tx again... Marty

  • Satellite A660: After upgrade to Win 8.1 BSOD is displayed using the keyboard

    Dynabook i7 3D laptop A660.

OK; so I updated my i7 3D Dynabook to form 8.1 Windows (x 64) Windows 7 (x 64), and now the laptop restarts everytime I start to touch the keyboard.

    Other wise works perfectly.

It took me two hundred hours to understand that I was typing on web sites usually when this re-boot occurs. And I could not remember how or why the computer restarted.

When I press the numeric keypad 'more' sign, I get the BSoD immediately. But there are a few presses of the numbers on the keyboard so he can do the same thing.

    I.E.
    If I press 1, 2, 3, its ok.
    But
    If I press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, the laptop gets a BSoD and restarts.

I also installed automatic software (mouse) for a Microsoft mouse, that I was going to use. and I deleted in the "System Properties" after the problem has arisen; but there is no change.

Whenever I tap on the number pad (especially the plus sign), the PS stops with a blue screen of death BSoD.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Roger,
My knowledge the 8.1 Windows isn't supported by Satellite A660 because there is no driver Windows 8.1 special to this series of portable, but even if these drivers have not been released, is not a big problem to install and run the Windows 8.1 on this unit.

I m wondering how you installed the 8.1 to win on this laptop?
You upgrade Windows 7 to 8.1 Win or were you running a fresh install of Win 8.1?

Here's a nice page of Microsoft providing some FAQ about update for Windows 8.1
    [Windows 8.1 update: FAQ | http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-to-windows-8]

In case you have done an UPGRADE to 8.1 Win, you can use Windows 8.1 Upgrade Assistant to check if your programs and devices are compatible with Windows 8.1.

I would be also interesting to know if the same BSOD would appear if external keyboard would be connected to the laptop.
When using the external keyboard would cause NOT of BSOD, I guess internal keyboard is faulty and could be the troublemaker.
