Open Word, click Help > about Microsoft Word
The version, including service pack is first online

Word 2007 uses a different format for documents from previous versions of word.  To distinguish the documents in format Word 2007 and earlier versions, Word 2007 saves the documents with an extension rather than the familiar doc extension docx.

If you have Word 2003 (or earlier version), install the Office Compatibility Pack, which allows you to open, edit and save files created by versions of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint 2007.  For more details, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924074

Alternatively, the person who sent you the document could use his Word 2007 to "save under" document format "Word 97/2003"(je n'ai pas Word 2007 ouvrir dès maintenant, si l'expression peut être légèrement différente), and if it does that you could deal with him directly. "."

  • How can I tell what version of Windows my Win7 upgrade copy corresponds to?

A few years back, one of my friends gave me his old computer running Windows 7.  I just had to replace the motherboard and processor on it, and when I went to reinstall Windows, I learned that the CD Win7 key he had corresponded to a Windows 7 upgrade version.  From what I could tell, I need to install an older version of Windows first, and then use the upgrade CD to return to Win7.  I installed Windows XP Home Edition and I tried, but the CD Win7 said that I had the wrong version of Windows to upgrade.  I installed Windows Vista and got the same thing.  How can I tell what version of Windows my Win7 update of that CD will modernize?

Looks like the copy of Windows 7, you were trying to install from Windows XP Home Edition is a 64-bit version.

You will need to boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

To learn how to change your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, the following tutorial:
    http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/

    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

Go to system--> general Preferences and uncheck "hide and show the menu bar automatically.  Also, if you use any application (like Safari) full screen, the menu bar will be hidden until your mouse over the top of your screen.  To stop this, press ESC to exit full-screen.  The menu bar must return permanently.

    It depends on how you

    1. Choose the Mode "full screen" or
    2. unchecked toolbars

The F11 key activates / turns off Mode full screen or not. Full screen, you have no toolbars, no tab and no bar Add on (bottom).

If unchecked you your toolbars (checked = displayed; UN - check = not displayed), and then do one of the following, then click on those you want to check/uncheck:

  • my menu bar disappeared, and when I press Alt or F10, absolutely nothing happens. What can I do to get my menu bar back?

I have Windows 7. Firefox was working fine until last week when the menu bar disappeared and Google, my homepage, am really big and taken all the space on the page. I read about how put my menu bar on this page. I pressed Alt and she came once. Then, later, when I came back to the page and you press Alt to get it back again, it would not come back. Nothing happened. I have read and learned I could try F10. I tried and nothing happened. What can I do to get my menu bar back and hold again?

If you don't have a title bar, menu bar or toolbars, you can be in full screen. Press the F11 key to toggle the Mode full screen or not. In addition, if you are using the full screen, moving your pointer over the top edge of the display screen causes the toolbars of 'slide' down; While the tool bars are low, you can click on the right in the empty space at the end of the tab bar and click on "exit full screen".

To turn toolbars on or off see the following. The selected items will be displayed. Click on an item to check or uncheck it.

  • for the Internet CNN site menu bar disappeared (quite some time ago!)

In November, at the top of the cnn.com home page menu bar disappeared on me. This fleet bar you highlight and you can select the nation, world, money and other sections. Since then, I had to go to the index directory of site of low level at the bottom of the page to select these pages. The site was wrong one day and then the next day seemed to recover but this bar has ceased to appear. I assumed that someone would set soon after that - if a cnn problem or a problem with Safari, but it has never been fixed for me. All other websites is fine for me. Anyone know if it's a problem with Safari or cnn? I'm still on Yosemite, all day and on a desktop iMac. I delete cookies and all the data of the Web site all the time! -as often as before going to any Web site. My Safari settings seem to well - checked everything. I tried various config changes and disable various extensions, but have never gotten this bar to return. Everyone has seen this before? (One thing I have not done is java installed manually, but no Web site haven't asked me yet.)

  • PS CS4 menu bar disappears sometimes (parts of it)

Now and then, part of my menu bar disappears - the section to the right of 'help' - I think that the first icon for this special bar is opening the bridge. I've included a screenshot of my question - please note that area seems to show my desktop (or what is open behind the PS). I think it has something to do with my graphics card. I have a nVidia GEForce 9500 GT (27/09/09 6.14.11.9107 driver version). The pilot is underway. When this issue comes up, I have to restart literally for this section of the menu bar to reappear. Simply, logging and on again not to do so. When this section of menu bar "not" appears, when I mouse over the icons, the icon "roll-over" is just solid or white - gray. I don't think this is how it is supposed to look like.

I also had trouble (recently and in the near past) with my setting of 'grid' (reference: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/493932?tstart=0). For example, I would create a 72px x 72px @ 72 dpi document - make my visible grid (grid settings are set to display the grid line 1 each 1px & 1 subdivision). When you zoom in all the corners of the image, I could see the lines of the grid have been offset (example on my post of reference images) - it is not to be confused with the pixel grid. I wonder if these issues are related to each other or because of my graphics card. The lag issue grid line has been fixed by removing my preferences, but sine as what's happening even once, that my guess is that something is causing the "grid" to show inappropriately. I tested with and without GPU improvements enabled in the preferences of PS. I can't find a common denominator in causing these issues.

If I still have your attention, I would like to add a question of 'off-topic' (perhaps somoene this can help on the other issue also playback). In reference to http://forums.adobe.com/thread/508982?tstart=0, nobody has really been able to answer this question or confirm/deny they get the same results. It has to do with the size of the document display, and the unit of measure seems stuck on cm (I want to keep it on the thumb, as it has always done with CS3) - maybe I should go back to CS3. Whenever I have rulers to pixels, the size of the document is locked to cm. The only way I can see inches in the size of the document is if my rules are defined in inches. For me, it makes sense to have leaders to pixels (for many reasons), but when it comes time to print, change the canvas size, etc, I want to see the size of the document in inches. I don't know if it's normal, but when I go to create a new document, menu preset drop down to 'size of default photoshop', his unit is cm who would have something to do with my problem of cm? I am already insured my locale is french, and the camera settings are defined according to the picture as an attachment (unitSettings.jpg).

At this point, I'm going crazy because these bits just little querks drive me up the wall until I can't do anything because I'm still troubleshooting. If anyone can shed some light on all these topics, you would save me to decide a wrist or two thanks...

  • My Firefox opens on a completely white screen with no menu bar or whatever it is. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times with the same problem. Help!

I opened this morning with no problems, went to my g-mail account, pulled upwards an e-mail, click on answer, typed my respons, but when I hit send, everything went completely empty.

I have not compressed, without... menu bars anything other than firefox upper-left logo and reduce it, full-screen/small screen and close / x buttons in the upper left corner... it's she.

I uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but nothing works.

    What now?

    COR - el,

Wow... that was well above my head... at least tonight. Laughing out loud

After my last post, I did a little research and figured out how to import my favorites in IE8... so I uninstalled firefox again... but this time I had checked the "delete my personal Firefox and customizations" in the wizard, who did remove two addons (Ghosery and Ad Block Plus)... the relocation was different this time and the first time you start firefox He asked if I wanted to import my IE Favorites, which I did... I now added Ghosery and Ad Block... and if so far everything goes well... seems I got this back up and running.

The mention of the malware in a madperson add-on has been helpful to my solve my problem.
