The modified Starter 2010 Microsoft System Restore

I am a student who bought a laptop complete with an already active version Microsoft Starter 2010. I recently had to restore my system because I was downloading a Microsoft program to my computer offered by my University, and he was forcing me to uninstall all Microsoft 32-bit software. I thought that what I download is the full version of Microsoft 2010, PowerPoint, etc. I uninstalled Microsoft Starter, and then I discovered that I had downloaded Microsoft Project instead of a complete package. So I used system restore to return Microsoft Starter. It worked fine until the computer requests an activation key. I don't have such a key, as Starter worked without one when I first turned the computer on. What are my options?

If your University is to provide you with a copy of Microsoft Office 2010, this is a full version of Microsoft Office. To install it, you must remove Microsoft Office Starter.

  • Failed to open all the files, including programs or system restore files

I had a pretty bad virus just about an hour ago that came just from scratch. It was one of those who blink at you and says that you have 20 horses of Trojan and other. I used internet to solve security norton, but it came with nothing else in the amount of time I had, because my computer has suddenly dropped. I turned it back in safe mode to restore the system, but all of a sudden I now get the box that says:

"Choose the program you want to use to open this file" and lists only internet explore.

I'm going to go and when I find the program file, that it does not open, he goes back to this window just does nothing for me. For this reason, all I can open is internet explorer, not even norton or system restore, in particular.

I obviously need system restore. Please help me.

    Hello

Just in case there are persistent pieces of malware here is the method of complete elimination.
.exe question difficulty in the next message.

Try Mode safe mode with networking - repeatedly, press F8 that you start.

The best two methods allow scanners to run and/or AV.exe out of the way or removing.

    1.
CTRL SHIFT ESC - task manager OR right click on the taskbar - task manager

Process tab - complete the process on AV. EXE and continue with the uninstall Guide.

Right-click on it and rename it to ZZMbam.COM (or something different than now) and
Double-click it, and then run it like this. You can rename it back later. Do the same with
other programs according to the needs. Use this method to others as needed - NOT assume all

    2.
Another method is to use them:

Use Process Explorer to "Suspend" the process will not stop

Then use AutoRuns to delete the malicious program startup items.

Now use UnLocker to delete the files in the malware.

  • In the Media Center in XP System Restore does not work

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum so please be gentle!

I have a Dell Dimension E521 with XP Pro Media Edition.

12 months after I bought the pc, I had a problem and wanted to use system restore. The calendar showed various restore points, so I chose a. After going through the motions, the pc has restarted and then told me the system could not be restored and no changes.

I tried several different dates but the same thing happened.

I have contacted Dell but don't got no help because it was out of warranty, I contacted Microsoft and they told me to contact the manufacturer - Yes, you got it in one, a full ride.

Over the years, I tried several times but still the same system restore. Finally, I thought that maybe it's a "glitch" when the operating system has been installed at Dell.

Recently I had to reformat my pc. so re-installed XP Pro Media New Edition (a Dell OS disk). Two weeks ago after several problems with Norton Internet Security 2010, I tried restoring the system again. Before, he goes through the motions, but then tells me the same thing.

Anyone please got any ideas what the problem.

And to answer the question, Yes, System Restore is turned on and with space max.

Windows XP Professional (5.1, build 2600) Media Edition

You mention that you have installed Norton. Norton has been known to cause problems with the system restore. My recommendation is to disable Norton and then attempt a restore. Post back with the results.

  • I need to recover the Favorites after a Windows system restore.

After doing a restore of windows on Windows 7 Pro, I have only the default bookmarks on my view your bookmarks"" button. I tried to replace the new profiles of 'empty' to the former, but without success - I still have only the default bookmarks. Thanks in advance for your help.

Note what to do a system restore will probably replace the profiles.ini file and all the profiles that are made after the date of restoration will not appear or be accessible through the Profile Manager.

If profiles are still there, then you can use the Profile Manager to create a new profile and choose the location of an existing profile (choose a folder) of re - save profile.

  • All Documents and the missing photos after a system restore, what happened, and how can I recover my files?

    Hello
All of my documents and photos are missing after a system restore. Here's the story. A virus called "Windows Recovery" popped up earlier and I did a system restore to get rid of him. To restart the computer, all my files and photos were missing. I used the system restore in the past in similar situations and have never had any problems. I opened MS Office, and I found some documents in the recent documents list. They open up fine and I saved them, but is only some of the documents. I can find the files in my documents when I do a search on them, but they are empty, when I open them. I also find some pictures and documents when I do a search for them by name, but I remember only a few file names, so I can't retrieve many files this way.

    RE: Don't defrag not completed.

I'm assuming you did disk defrag MANUALLY. Yes?
    It's a waste of time.

You can "plan" disk defrag to date and time. It will take place at the scheduled time, you set up. In this way, it will run without interrupting your normal computer and without your presence chores.

Here are the tutorials to schedule disk defragmentation. You can get what day of the week and what time.

It allow you to choose which disk drive to defragment.

    Hello Buzbyb6,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

I have a few questions to help you solve your problem.

    • When you try to start you get a blue screen? If so, then try to get the error code number that appears. This will give us more insight as to what might be causing your problem.
    • You can start safe mode? Press F8 boot to Vista. then select Safe Mode.

Some of the things that might cause this problem would be a corrupt file system, bad Ram, or a defective hardware.

    • If you can access the SafeMode. Run CHKDSK to fix the file system. Go to a command prompt and type chkdsk/r
    • Check the RAM with Memtest since a bootable floppy or CD. www.memtest.org
    • Check the disk for bad sectors.
    • If it's just a damaged OS, backup your data and run recovery to restore Windows to its factory condition.

If please post again and let us know if your problem is resolved or if you need further assistance.
