  It depends on the frequency that work on the mouse and the base.  I tried to find info on your old mouse and there is nothing available.  I think would be best to simply select a new wireless mouse.  It will come with a wireless receiver dongle that you can plug into a USB port.  I think you'd have a very hard time finding a new mouse that will use the same exact frequency as the old configuration.  If you're short USB ports to plug an extra dongle you can always buy a USB hub for next to no money.   I do not speak for Microsoft. However, I saw many times when working with clients in your situation with regard to the reactivation of windows because of the failure of a component. They are not, however, responsible for providing you with a windows disc that should be provided by your computer manufacturer. However, if I were you, I would ask to borrow a disc of windows of a friend or a neighbour then contact Microsoft for activation, making sure to explain the circumstances surrounding the re-setup.

  Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

  This is because hardware manufacturers only list the most recent Windows operating system for compatibility purposes.  People are more concerned material working with current, only with the major operating systems.

  A mouse that works with Win7 should work fine with Vista.  The only question you may have is if the mouse comes with software implementation of special features and these features are only supported on specific free software.  Logitech did with their MouseWare software.  So if you bought a new Logitech mouse and you want to use MouseWare (which, BTW, is not necessary for general use of the mouse), you will need to track down an old version of their software.
