  On a WINDOWS 7 PC (Dell Inspiron 15) Thunderbird has been automatically updated on 12 June.
  After the update it is unable to get my email from my service provider (RCN).
  It seems to connect with pop.rcn.com but then it crashes, and no email is delivered.

  I just got a new computer with Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3.  I'm the only user & my 'Phil' user account has administrator privileges.  All of a sudden, when I open Windows Explorer, I see records of the tree (left) that I don't want.  I see the files that are on my desk, and other.

  Documents of the administrator (which isn't on my desk)
  Several files that I keep on my desk
  In addition, I see "Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX", which is a program & should not be in the tree on the left side.

  I must have done something when I copied the folders & files from my old computer on my desk.  But I don't know what I did.  Is there a registry entry where I can hide or delete these folders to be seen on the left side of Windows Explorer.

  Don't know what to try.  I think it happened after that I have almost everything (files, shortcuts) copied from my old computer (also WinXP Pro) to my new from a backup, but I'm not sure.

  OK, never mind.  I thought I did something to cause this, but I just plugged my old computer to a monitor & it shows the same thing... I guess my memory is bad.

  When I saw the compiled help file and do a search for a word it's subjects displaying that I don't want to show. These topics are not in the table of contents and are not indexed.
  
  I inherited our co writer Tech so I learn about HR by trial and error. I use RH7. The help files are created in the HR 5 (or earlier) but had to install on Vista RH7.
  
  While working on an existing HR help file I have a few topics that were mistakes, from me to experiment, or are the old one that I am updating and change. In both cases, I thought I could leave them hidden inside, just for safety or return to. I guess if they have not been put in the TOC or indexed, that they should not show to the outside world. When I search on a word that is in the title of the topic or text these topics are listed.
  
  Can I prevent it from is displayed in search? They do not show in the TOC, and they do not show in the Index. Is my only option to remove? I have looked through the properties of the subject and can't find a solution.

  I should add for example I created a label called Admin building, and I attribute it to themes and content in the project for my own reference, but customers shouldn't see. I also have tags assigned to a content build that is inserted in my project of changes to the software that are further down the road the next version so I can exclude until the release is ready.

• By the opening, but the display of messages is not displayed

  This happens about 90% of the time. I turn on my computer, it goes through its commissioning, and then I run the Mail application. Mail opens and the display of the messages window flashes as if it opens, but it doesn't. The application is launched, but even if I choose "Display messages" in the menu window, it does not appear. I must leave the mail and run it again to see my mail. Kind of annoying. The same kind of problem sometimes occurs with Messages and Messages window.

  Any suggestions? It's not like I'm throwing these while for the system to load again, and they are not defined open automatically at startup. Could this be the problem?

• Power Windows - disable the display - HDMI options do not save energy

  I recently bought a BenQ GL2760H has two inputs HDMI/VGA/DVI monitor.  I have a Dell with Windows 7 desktop computer that has an Intel graphics card integrated with just the outputs HDMI and VGA.  I also have a "Kill A Watt" device that tells me how many watts came out of an electronic device.  When I plug the monitor up to the computer using HDMI it uses 14 watts (I use a power saving on the monitor), but when the Windows power options of economy to turn off the monitor, even if the screen goes black, I can still see a low glow, so I know that the lights are still on.  And the monitor uses now 15 watts while displaying nothing.

  If I connect the monitor to the computer using a VGA cable then it uses 14 watts, and what power-saving options turn off the monitor it then uses 0 watts. That's what's supposed to happen.  I would use the HDMI cable, but I don't want to use no energy so that in power saving mode.

  What is a regular problem with HDMI? Or would it be a problem with the monitor or windows or chipset intel?

  Well, I answered my own question. I've updated the Intel HD Graphics driver 4600 for windows and now during options Windows power saving off the screen when connected to HDMI, energy drops to 0 Watt and oscillates between 1 and 0 watts. Not as good as watts 0 all the time with VGA, but much better that what he was doing on front HDMI I have updated the driver.

• Satellite Pro M30 - Win XP - for the brightness of the display FN keys do not work

  I installed the drivers bt the fn keys (brightness, etc.) will not work if the screen is very dark!

  I tried to update the bios, but it won't let me.
  Also tried to install the common modules but get an error saying that it didn't is not supported on this hardware!

  To me, it seems that you tried to install applications that are not compatible with this laptop.
  Where did you get the drivers?

• Adding exchange account from microsoft using native thunderbird (do not use ExQuilla)

  I was wondering if there is a way to use microsoft exchange for email server (my University recently passed). So far, I've been using Exquilla, but my license has expired. For this reason I am temporarily using outlook (eww!)... but I prefer highly Thunderbird so I would go back. Is it possible to use thunderbird to communicate with the server without an addon like Exquilla? If this is not the case, is it a possible feature for future releases?
