the PCIe-1427 virtual comm port

The utility of the seller of the SBF - 200 camera allows users to change the time rate and exposure of the image using a specified com port. The PCIe-1427 uses a virtual com port via camera link, but does not reveal the number of users or WINDOWS. Anyone know what it is?

Attached is a file zipped from the camera to operate the camera Focalplane of Santa Barbara (SBF-200), which has been tested with the NI PCIe-1427 frame grabber Board and LabVIEW 8.2. Assistance of Santa Barbara Focalplane and spectral science, Inc. support are greatly appreciated.

  • Comm port not detected by VISA / MAX after the device power cycle connected

    I have a device communicating via USB virtual comm port. The device and labview program both work very well, most of the time. The program is designed for the automatic connection for the connected equipment. It works perfectly when I unplug and reconnect the USB cable.

    However, if the unit power cycled as the USB cable is connected and the program/vi is running of things go wrong. The device enters a phase of boot loader for a few seconds to the power upward, if labview tries to query the port comm during this phase the comm port is corrupted in some way and is no longer recognized by VISA / NI MAX. However, other programs, hyperterminal, etc device manager can see and communicate with the port when the boot loader is complete. For Labview / NI MAX to see the port I have to physically disconnect the USB cable. The program does not need to be restarted in order to detect the port comm again and, infact, labview is restarted or my compiled program does not solve the problem. Physically disconnect the USB port allows visa / MAX OR see the port is connected.

    It seems to me that there is a problem with VISA where somehow if a device is not correctly identified by VISA during the first attempt it just does not take into account the port until a physical intervention. Is there a way to force VISA to reassess completely all connected comm ports?

    Hello MJanus,

    As far as I know, most of the virtual com ports are not fully supported by VISA so some quirks in its operation are to be expected: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/6E1922B526572CB8862571AA00544057?OpenDocument

    Officially, we do not support the use of com virtual ports, if unfortunately, the feature you have now is probably as good you'll be able to get with this configuration. I know it's not the answer you were hoping to hear and I apologize for the inconvenience, but it is not really possible visa work well with all software virtual com port due to the wide variety of products available.

  • How to trigger the camera and light pulsed with PCIe-1427

    Hello

    We recently bought an acquisition card NI PCIe-1024 and the NI Vision Builder.

    I am new to imaging applications and need support to get started.

    Application:

    We have a camera viewing a scene which is illuminated by a pulsed light source (e.g., a strobe).

    We want to use the PCIe-1427 as the master for the outbreak of the camera and strobe light.

    The first trigger (Ch 0) transmitting signals TTL to camera to 30 Hz (30 fps).

    The second trigger (Ch 1) send bursts of pulses to the strobe light to e.g. 10 kHz. This trigger must only send impulses all other images, so that we can save alternating light and dark images in order to perform background subtraction.

    I tried to set up the channels of the trigger and create virtual channels in the measurement and Applications Explorer, but apparently this is not possible.

    Since it is an application critical time, I'd appreciate an example vi that sets up the channels two trigger and download managers in the camera to get started on this application. Thank you.

    Software of NEITHER: LabVIEW version 10

    Materials: Device for the Acquisition of Image (IMAQ) PCIe-1427 driver Version: NOR-IMAQ 4.4 OS: Windows 7

    Thank you, Justin.

    I'll copy this request to the machine Vision Group as you suggested. I looked at the link sent you me and made progress (limited). I can see on an oscilloscope trigger signals, and the camera acquires images. However, I only managed to do work for pulse trains continuous, not a shots or bursts of pulses.

    No need to answer that. Thanks for your help.

  • Allows you to control two app PCIe-1427 acquisition card program?

    Is it possible that NEITHER MAX poster image and a program of Uart control a camera through PCIe-1427?

    I'm designing on a FPGA board with a link to the camera, and the side FPGA generates the image of the target. and PCIe-1427 Council receives the image.

    I'm contrling the map via USB2UART FPGA, and MAX displays the image. This works.

    but instead of USB2UART, using UART is possible with the terminal program such as putty and teraterm via PCIe-1427?

    In fact, I can't because teraterm cannot see the PCIe-1427 uart port. However neither offers

    device driver, I think it would work.

    If there is the driver that shows the interface UART to PCIe - 1427 as normal COM port, where is it?

    If this is not the case, why is that this driver?

    And there at - it can access any other OR acquisition card that provides the link camera and COM port interface the other terminal program series?

    Thank you..

    Imperx software automatically find the port (I use Imperx camera).

    When the farmed grabber is installed and NEITHER-IMAQ is installed the software should automatically find the camera.

    Have you tried running the capture with Standard camera card? I understand that you create something special on FPGA.

  • Virtual serial port: no bytes to the serial port before you read visa

    Hi I want to use LabView for data acquisition in real time from my dc servo motors. I'm new to LabView, so I will try to do the same thing with virtual port. I am writing some data (a sinusoidal wave) to the virtual port and can read and display it on the chart. the writing part just works that we see in the hyper terminal. but he's not reading anything. the number of bytes to port is zero. I tried to put the number of bytes in visa read manually, but it does not work. I have attached my code below. any comment is appreciated. Thanks in advance

    This is just the basics of how communication works series. To do a reading without any instrument, you loopback (short) the transmission line to the receiving line. For a connector 9 pins, you short-circuit pins 2 and 3. If you have not done this, I do not understand where you thought you could do a reading of.

    In any case, if you have servos that are controllable of RS - 232, it isn't likely that the series is even close to what you do a closure won't tell you much more that the converter is functional. When you have a real instrument connected, you still need to debug settings com (baud, parity, handshake), type of cable (null-modem or directly through) and the actual orders that you send to the instrument and its answers.

  • Need help on the use of the PCI-6221 and c# to control three digital Port and an analog of entry

    I need to send the digital output at three ports and then read an analog input voltage using the analog card PCI-6221.

    I did a c# program to fight against it. I built four tasks altogether. Three tasks for three digital output ports and a single task for analog input.

    How can I reduce the time?

    Using my method, to 3.3ms in total. And it's slow.

    I can build one task for three ports?

    What is the best way to the control task to reduce the time of communication with the PC?

    Is that possible to save a lot of analog reading entry in the memory of the DAQ hardware and then read it all together from the computer in order to reduce time consumption?

    1 million thanks!

    Hello

    Hi Jin,

    To answer your questions, Yes, you are able to configure a task of digital output to use three output ports and PCI-6221 has a buffer of memory FIFO aboard 4095 samples.

    I would like to direct you to the example of NOR-DAQmx for c# files located in the following location on your computer

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples\DotNET2.0

    Here, you will find predefined examples in c# that should give you a good idea of how to go about architecting your code to achieve the results you need.

    There is also a useful help file which you will find by navigating to Start > all programs > National Instruments > NOR-DAQ > help of NOR-DAQmx .NET Framework 2.0

    I hope that this answer is useful.

  • virtual serial port (offered by a USB device) may not be reopened once the device has been lost and reconnected

    To connect to a virtual serial port offered by a USB device.
    -Physically disconnect the device (disappears from the entry in Device Manager)
    -Reconnect the device. (It reappears in the Manager of input devices)
    -Close the file handle
    -Reopen the virtual serial port. --> the CreateFile() call always fails with "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND".
    -After dis - / reconnect the USB device once, the serial port can be reopened

    Even the true return of GetDefaultCommConfig there yet in CreateFile().

    It is clearly bad habits, because in our case the disconnection/reconnection occurs due to a restart of the device; and it's quite embarrassing to explain buyer for the disconnect/reconnect the device.

    Is there another workaround solution to clean the window's internal data structures or show me how to open the port?

  • How the Virtual Machine port group communication?

    How the Virtual Machine port group communication?

    Port group is virtual aggregation of ports on vSwitch. A vSwitch can have multiple Port groups which separate the different network traffic. Port groups communicate with vSwitch, and we have physical network maps on vSwitch which establish communication with the external network. We can configure security, NIC teaming, traffic shapping nework political and at the level of the port groups. Once the port group is created, we can assign to vNIC

    How to establish communication?

    Public network > Switch L3 Core > ESXi physical adapter > vSwitch > groups > virtual NIC > Virtual Machine

    Virtual machine connect to the physical map using vNIC coming on Port groups. This is how it works.

  • How to change the security policy of a group of distributed in a distributed virtual switch ports?

    Hello

    I am trying to write a Perl script that can modify the security policy of a group of distributed in a distributed virtual switch ports. I can access the values of security policy by using the following:

    $port_group_view-> config - > defaultPortConfig-> securityPolicy - > allowPromiscuous-> value

    $port_group_view-> config - > defaultPortConfig-> securityPolicy - > forgedTransmits-> value

    $port_group_view-> config - > defaultPortConfig-> securityPolicy - > macChanges-> value

    I try to use the method ReconfigureDVPortgroup_Task() of the managed object DistributedVirtualPortGroup. While creating a new instance of DVPortgroupConfigSpec, within the data spec config defaultPortConfig property object there is property of security policy and I couldn't find any other property pointing me to that I can update the security policy. I discovered that it is accessible via defaultPortConfig, stretching from VMwareDVSPortSetting where securityPolicy is a property of VMwareDVSPortSetting.

    What is the way to update? I am bit confused about terminology Extends and extended by and how it relates to the other.

    Concerning

    Akmal

    It is in DVPortgroupConfigSpec, but you will need to use the extended VMwareDVSPortSetting object.

    My $dvpg_spec = new DVPortgroupConfigSpec();

    $dvpg_spec-> {defaultPortConfig} = new VMwareDVSPortSetting();

    $dvpg_spec-> {defaultPortConfig} {securityPolicy} = new DVSSecurityPolicy();

    $dvpg_spec-> {defaultPortConfig} {securityPolicy} {allowPromiscuous} = new BoolPolicy (value-online 1, inherited-0 online);

    $dvpg_spec-> {defaultPortConfig} {securityPolicy} {forgedTransmits} = new BoolPolicy (value-online 1, inherited-0 online);

    $dvpg_spec-> {defaultPortConfig} {securityPolicy} {macChanges} = new BoolPolicy (value-online 1, inherited-0 online);

    You could probably simplify this by getting the config spec VGA and change it before using it in the ReconfigureDVPorgroup_Task() method.

  • Virtual Com ports never get reused after UN-installing of software that use

    I have install and uninstall the bluetooth drivers (Microsoft, broadcom and bluesoliel) in order to obtain different devices to work. When I started this exercise, used by bluetooth comm ports were low numbers (com 4 and 5 for example). If I uninstall the bluetooth drivers, then reinstall the or some other driver, the com port numbers used become com 6 and com 7).  Old ports com can never get reused and there seems to be any place where I can find them (and I hope that free them from their State of limbo).

    Now that I've got things nearby work properly, I get to com 25.

    This also happens with the bluetooth drivers not as my GPS through a series of USB converter. or my palm for synchronization software.

    That is to say the problem is not just with bluetooth. It's with any program that uses a serial port.

    I'm afraid I might run out of com ports, and perhaps these unused com ports consume resources (are they built during startup?)     Hmmmm... Looks like I ran out of space... Al

    Hi again
    Well, I made a variation on your theme
    1 turned on or plugged in devices that could use a virtual serial port - 3 of them
    com 26 2 with one of them, I have attributed it to 25, then 24, etc. all the way up to 3 comm
    That unlocks (disabled the use in indication) for all of the unused ports.

    reassigned the 2 remaining ports to com 4 and 5

    Thanks for the help

    Hello Hans,.

    I had searched the internet on installation of a virtual COM port, but I only find solutions based manufacturer. So I think that the driver or the software that generates the virtual COM port is based on the product that you (in your case, the gps system).

    The manufacuring company request a solution!

    But if they don't have a solution, I found a link on the internet that might help you! But if you want to test I will assume no responsibility for the consequences such as loss of data after a system crash.
