The Portege 2000 via PXE - LAN operating system reinstallation

Hello again,

So as said before I'm trying to reinstall Win XP from the recovery provided CD.
In fact, I have 4 CD: one that contains only Windows 2000 Pro and 3 CD containing Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro. Of course, the 4 CDs were shipped with the computer.

I tried via the floppy and CD-ROM drive that does not work (see previous section), but I also tried via PXE - LAN.
So I installed a trial version of Windows Server 2003 in 3 months on my desktop and ran the RIS (Remote Installation Service).

1. He accepted the CD Windows 2000 Professional as a CD of Windows Setup, but when you launch the Portege 2000, after some time, when he looks for the configuration of the computer, I get an error message that the driver for the network card is missing and it may not all go further.

2. when I run the installation remotely with CD 1 of 3, it does not even recognize as a Windows CD of Installation!

So, I managed to install a Win XP Family Edition that I run normally on my desktop, but I don't have any driver installed (WIFI, infrared, sound card, etc.) but also, I have only 1 license for the home edition.

Someone at - it an idea on how to proceed with this method (I mean with the 3 CDs)?

Thank you very much.

Hello

> Has anyone at - it an idea on how to proceed with this method - I mean with the 3 CD
Do you mean the Toshiba recovery CD?

I never tried to recover the image of Toshiba via RIS, but in my opinion that RIS does not recognize the 3 as a Windows CD of Installation CD1 because the recovery CD Toshiba image isn't really a Windows CD of Installation!

The restore CD contains only the image files. To my knowledge these are ghost files

First Post! I am the proud owner of gently used Portege 2000.

Browsed the web trying to find out if the Portege 2000 will be one hard disk other than the MK2003GAH. I have a MK4004GAH, but when installed it does not seem to be detected, the BIOS reports no HDD installed. The reader might be deffective of course, but I have nothing else to connect to and of course I can't test it because it is not detected.

In addition, the 2000 does not use standard PC100 SODIMM? When I removed the RAM cover, it does not resemble a standard SODIMM slot.

    Hello

I no a lot of experience with this Portege, but I can just confirm that this laptop comes with 1.8 inch Toshiba MK2003GAH HARD drive. I don't really know which are hard are compatible with this model of laptop but maybe partner allowed in your country can give you precise information on this subject. They are specialized for the upgrade of the laptop.

On the module of RAM I found information that the Portege can manage with 512 MB max and module compatible memory PC133 256 MB - PA3158U - 1 M 25.

    (1) If you have an Intel processor, check here: http://ark.intel.com/ (all news are 64-bit, but many in the pentium and celeron series are not)
No matter what AMD processor once sempron will be 64-bit.

  • ESXi 4.0 on Dell 1850 this host doesn't support VT you have configured the virtual machine to use an operating system 64-bit client.

    Hello

, I have in 3 data centers Dell 1850, identical hardware configurations.  I installed Esxi 4.0 to the ISO from site Web de VMware dell custom help. He is successfully installed on all servers, without error at all. I've updated them all to the last generation, using VMware vSphere Client. I have a problem with one of the server when I want to use 64-bit machines, he realizes: this host does not support VT you have configured the virtual machine to use an operating system 64-bit client.  However, this host is not able to run 64-bit virtual machines or virtual computer has 64-bit support disabled. For more information, see http://www.vmware.com/info?id=152. I don't understand why I got this, servers are identical, versions of BIOS, firmware, and all updates are the same. There is also a warning in the configuration tab, on the State of health link.

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestion.

Yes according to the description of CPU, it seems that they do not support intel VT:

  • Reinstalling OS the Portege 2000 with IDE CD-ROMs

    Hello

Recently, I got my father a Portege 2000 (purchased at the Japan if it makes a difference) on which I am trying to reinstall Win XP from the provided recovery CD (there are 3 CD containing Windows XP Pro and Win 2000).

"I'm doing it with a USB FDD and Sony CRX75A CD-Rom PCMCIA that connects to the computer via a different manufacture PC Card ACR - A01 switchable between 16-bit and CardBus mode.)

As I'm not very familiar with BACK, CardBus and start-up stuff, I read a lot of topics and found the following application, BootdiskP2000.EXE that contains drivers for PCMCIA and USB Toshiba CD-ROM cards. Then I ran and when the choice of CD PCMCIA external drive in the menu, I got the following:

PC Card driver for external Rev:2203 of the ATAPI-IDE drives
PCCARD found: IO DATA CBIDE2 V4.1
ERROR: There is no PCCARD in socket A and B!
    PCCARD not initialized!

So I searched the web for pilots BACK my ACR - A01 and found DUAOTA16. SYS and DUOATACD. SYS. Then, I changed my CONFIG. SYS (even when perhaps not properly as I'm not comfortable with it) by the addition of a menuitem and further:

    [SONY]
    DEVICE = A:\DUOATA16. SYS
    DEVICE = A:\DUOATACD. SYS D:TOSCD001
When it works, I get the following:
DuoATA16 CS Client Driver Version 1.01
    Copyright...
    CBIDE2: Not found CardServices.
    Driver is not installed.
    DuoATACD CD-ROM Driver Version 1.06
    Copyright...
    IDECD: No CBIDE2 card configuration.
    CD drive is not installed.

If having a glance at HISTORY. TXT file from the startup disk, at the end it says: "If you use it with other CD-ROM, you must modify/change normally the driver CD-ROM (for example Toscdrom.sys - file!). and the driver, on which you have access to the card PCMCIA (Fcatapi.sys and FCPoint.exe). "but I have no idea with what I would have to replace it.

Last point, my BIOS settings on page 2 are: device Config. = all devices that allows me to set the PC CARD controller Mode = CardBus/16-bit and by the way the CD manufacturing onther used to work fine with the Portege but with a Win XP driver.

Someone has an idea of what's going on here, because I'm confused. Thank you very much!!!

PS I also tried to boot using PXE - LAN to a PC running Win Server 2003 but that doesn't work either, but I'm going to start a new topic for it.

And why Don t you try maybe a USB-DVD-ROM? A USB key will be recognized for sure. I installed a XP Pro with a USB-DVD-ROM on my Portege R200.

    Welcome them

  • Cannot install Modem the Portege 2000

Help! I manually installed Windows XP and now I can't install my modem on Portege 2000. What is going on?

I had this same problem come when I installed Windows 98 on my protégé. During the installation of the operating system that you will get a yellow question mark in Device Manager when you install the modem before applying the audio driver "Reg-Files. For Windows 98, I had double click on Aliid98.reg in the folder for the audio driver on the CD T & D to add information about the modem driver. For Windows XP and Windows 2000, I think that you need to double click on Aliid.reg in the folder for the audio driver on the T & D CD to add the information to the modem driver. Let me know if it works!

First of all, sorry my bad English
I send this error a while ago, but 2 days ago, I do retest and I want to know if with this new information, anyone has any new ideas.
I have a 1'8 "hd giving 'IDE #0 error' ' with my portege 2000 but if I put with and adapter IDE in a standard PC, it works without problem, the only thing I see strange is that in a standard PC 1'8 ' HD as a slave not appear as master, I found the documentation for this type of hard drive that shows me jumpers I should use to configure the slave mode master hd and without" riders (as I connect to my portege 2000 and my adapter) it must be master, so I think that thar "IDE #0 error" appears because than the hd (I don't know why) was detected as slave without any reason... everything has an idea...

I have a second question, after I installed xp sp2, I have install all drivers for Toshiba but hardware/system show an exclamation (driver issue) on "diskette controller" and I try to install common modules with different version but I can not, can someone help me

    Thank you

    Hello Gleoelo

Almost 2.5 months looking for help. This is the forum of users and chances to have a detailed response to this technical problem are not so big. Portege 2000 is portable to very sensitive design and I really don't think there are that many users have experiences with this model of laptop.

Why don't you contact technicians. I really think you need professional help. With the installation of the OS I think you should try to install SP1 and Windows XP Home edition with SP2. After the operating system and any installation of Toshiba stuff, you can install SP2.

Is this Portege laptop and I am sure that it was preinstalled with SP1.

  • Start the Portege 2000 SD

Anyone know if it is possible start of SD in a Portege 2000.
I don't have a DVD USB, I don't have a USB floppy, when I want to reinstall OS I take 1'8 "hard drive and my adapter for the IDE and reinstall the SO in another computer, but it's not comfortable."

It was fantastic if I could boot from and 2/4 GB SD memory with an iso or image and fast recovery from my computer norton portable operating system.

Can someone help me? Thank you

    Hello

As much as I know something like this is not possible. I'm sorry. You must use other methods for installing the OS. Copy WXP on the second partition, install it from there, and after doing this installation drivers download them all separately from Toshiba support page http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

    Hello

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit on a Satellite 830R-143 with the short part No. PT32LE

Does anyone know what is the problem?

Thanks in advance for your help...

    Hello

You have problems with the laptop?
If not then why you want to do the BIOS? Just because the new BIOS is released?
I would not change anything if my laptop is running correctly.

However, the update of the BIOS requires the VAP (value added package).
So remember that this PPV is installed correctly. If this isn't the case, so far.

  • Portege 3490, installation of an operating system?

I just bought a 2nd hand portege 3490 and I was wondering what the easiest way is to put an operating system on it can I just whack in a USB CD-ROM and do it this way?

    Hello

normally, you need a PCMCIA CD-ROM because you must start the operating system installation CD when you want to install a new OS!

But in my opinion, it should also work with a USB disk, a Boot disk and a USB CD Rom

You must include a driver CD Rom courable on the startup disk.

You cannot boot from a USB CD directly, try this.

Or contact you a Toshiba Service partner, they have the PCMCIA reader. But you will pay for it!

  • Unable to recover the old data synchronization after reinstalling operating system

    Hello

I was using Firefox 26. Recently, I've upgraded to the latest version. A few reasons, I had to reinstall my windows 7 OS.

After I installed Windows 7, I installed the latest Firefox and tried to synchronize data. I was unable to connect because I forgot the password. I tried using the link "password forgotten", but he said there is no such thing as e-mail id. It was surprising to me. I'm still all emails, including the secret key, I used to add new devices earlier, since Firefox in my mail box.

Since I left without another option, if I'm creating a new represent now on Firefox with old email ID. The account is created successfully. Again, it is strange to me. However, my old data are not synchronized.

I need the old data. Help, please.

    -
    Thank you
    Ravi

Sorry, Sync was not intended to be used to backup Firefox data before reinstalling the operating system. Its purpose is to synchronize several separate installations of Firefox, usually on the various devices.

The old version of Firefox 26 uses another version of Sync, the latest version of synchronization happen in Firefox 29. The largest variation in sync had to do with the recovery key ('secret key') - is no longer something to see the user or has to deal.

You should have installed Firefox 28 or earlier and then connected to your account synchronization to recover your data and then put updated for Firefox 32. By creating a new account with the same email address, your data has been wiped out by synchronization servers to allow you to start a new.
