The question about the interconnections of fabric UCS 6300 Series

Hello

I have a question about UCS 6300 Series fabric interconnects. Is this fabric UCS interconnections 6300 series integrated into the extension of tissue function?  The reason why I asked this question was, when there is 6300 series fabric has been plugged UCS 5100 chassis, there is no more space to plug in extension of UCS 2200 series fabric. My understanding on the topology of the UCS, tissue extender is the connection between the blade and the fabric of the interconnections.

Thank you

Bob

Hi Bob

Yes, that's correct!

The chassis so called FI - IOM (see attachment p52); THE IOM = FEX.

I/O of the blade adapter to connect inside basket chassis, which connects to the built-in IOM.

IOM is then connected to the built-in FI.

  • Name of the system of the interconnections of fabric can be changed

I need to change the name of the fabric of interconnection system

    I gave for example. EDCD

    the IFS have now EDCD-A

    EDCD-B

I need to change it to... PEPE-A

    PEPE-B...

    is this possible?

    Shyam,

You can certainly do it and for sure are not disruptive and take effect immediately.    Simply go to the Admin tab > all > Management Interfaces > name > edit with you > Apply.

It is as simple and quick as if at the same time, you have a SSH session, as soon as you change the name, the system made the change on your SSH session also.

Note: There is no need to look for the way to do this on every fabric. The name you are editing is for both financial institutions and the system then adds the XYA -has or XYA -B by itself.

    Note THE answers useful.

  • Why the interconnections of fabric can be connected to the two MDS?

    Hi all

    1. why the white paper below says that if FI is connected to two MDS, then it will create a single point of failure?

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/storage-networking/MDS-9500-series-multilayer-directors/white_paper_c11_586100.html

This image below is used to describe the scenario for question 2 to 4.

2 and why the SAN design best practices to create SAN A and SAN B? Where when the switch 1 has failed, then it will use the b in SAN. And in this case, user can configure to connect to the storage using SAN B first, instead of using SAN first? And by default, the behavior of the SAN like that, what I mean is that she will check SAN failed, then it will use SAN B?

    3. and why there is no connection between the left more server and switch 2? They can not who design when switch 1 has failed, then it will use the other link first to switch 2, by linking the left more server for 2? Then when the core SAN switch one down, he uses the SAN B connection.

    4. can you the server to different SAN multipath? In this case, SAN A and B.

    Thank you

    Osbin

    Hi Osbin,

Why the white paper below says that if FI is connected to two MDS, then it will create a single point of failure?

Protocol FC build tissue, using the FSPF (such as OSPF) of the Protocol in order to MDS, FI (switch mode) Nexus 5 k, 7 k (storage VDC) form a single fabric using the links intercommutation.

If a problem is occur in tissue alone device's problem (zoning, FSPF, EENT)

If you connect fabric and fabric B (connect a FI for switch 1 and switch 2) in other words, this is no fabric A and B - it became a unique fabric (fabric single = single point of failure). That's why we use two FI, connected to two independent fabrics (isolation and redundancy)

Technically, you can avoid this problem by using VSANS, but if some problem in a NX - OS or SAN - OS occure you may lose the two fabrics in a single failure (the worst of the world SAN)

Point main initiator is in the answer above, can use both at the same time (multipath) fabrics with special drivers.

It is configurable by the user to use any fabric (A and B - is just for engineers) first.

It depends on the OS and drivers.

    3. and why there is no connection between the left more server and switch 2?

I believe that this picture is schematic diagram and imagine if you have enough ports in the switch 1

They can not who design when switch 1 has failed, then it will use the other link first to switch 2, by linking the left more server for 2?

Remember the idea of FC fabric. If you spend 1 it will affect every single switch fabric, and it is much faster to use stable fabric B instead of A fabric converging.

Then when the core SAN switch one down, he uses the SAN B connection.

    4. can you the server to different SAN multipath? In this case, SAN A and B.

    Yes

    Best regards

  • question from newb on 6100 fabrics

    Hey,.

What is the difference between the 6100's and nexus switches?

I look at vids on UCS and it seems that the networking and the fabric are on the 6100 6100 modules are s of the nexus switch? They are completely serperate devices this site to the South the Nxs switches?

Can someone give a brief explanation?

Brent, the interconnections of fabric UCS (FI) are the point of grouping all the chassis connection blade & rack UCS servers.  In addition, the FI to run the software of management of the UCS.  FIS are a separate device.  They have just the same physical appearance as the nexus 5K, but they are distinct & unique devices.

UCS can uplink in your Distribution, or even of the basic network switches.  It could very well be a pair of Nexus, Nexus 7 K, Cat6K 5Ks or any which non-Cisco switch.

Here's how common a UCS deployment would look like & sit in a network running continuous.

Here is an another digram showing the UCS uplink for both SAN and LAN Ethernet fabrics.

  • UCS connection to the existing network fabric

    Hello

I'm trying to get some new equipment:

2 - chassis with 4 blades of each

    2 6248UP

    1 - C240G - x 2 agile

    2 - 3750 x 10gig expansion.

Currently, I have 3750's in a battery and intend to add these new 3750's existing battery. Can I connect the 10 g on the 3750 x directly to the fabric of interconnection to bring my new equipment into my existing network?  I thought that this would be considered UCS Uplink Ethernet Ports.

The reason why I ask, I didn't know that I could not connect servers other than Cisco (IBM with 10 g cards) directly on the fabric and caused my second guess.

    Thank you.

    Hi mjensen

Fabric interconnection ports are 10 GB interfaces, then Yes, you can connect to the Cisco 3750 Switch via 10Gig ports.   The only thing you want to make sure is that when plug you these devices in transceivers for use based on both ends. If you want to know the list of radios supported on the UCS 6248 take a look at the link below.

    Supported transceivers

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/unified_computing/UCS/HW/6200-insta...

You're right about UCSM you want to configure these ports Uplink Ethernet ports!

Now, the reason why you can not just plug another server ucs to the fabric of interconnection as you IBM server, because the interconnection of fabric does not work like a regular switch.   Only one UCS server can be managed via the GUI UCSM.

Please let me know if it helps.

  • Many questions about the HP 50 g

I just ordered a HP 50 g graphic calculator! I have a few questions about this so hang on tight! What is the USB connector on the calculator? Mini-USB, micro USB, or is it a connector owner, "custom". Then, it would be possible to connect a keyboard to the HP 50 g by using the USB Port? Is there a program that would make this possible? (I doubt it would work if you plug it..) I have a Mini-USB to female USB 2.0 connector. So I could just plug the keyboard right, provided that the port on the calculator is a Mini-USB Port. If this is not so that I could use my female to female USB adaptor to connect the keyboard.

  • A few quick questions about the Satellite P300 - 18 M

    Hello

I am about to order a Satellite P300 - 18 M and have just a few questions about this:

(Although these may apply for other similar Satellite/Equium P300.)

Is the touchpad made by / to use the Alps or Synaptics driver?

It has the Wireless N network card, is the map made by Intel or Realtec?

And also, someone has experience with face recognition software to connect?

If so, does it take a lot of time to initalise?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jack

    Hello

The P300 - 18M belongs to the PSPCCE series.
It uses the two touchpad drivers. Synaptics & Alps Electric
There is an Intel 802.11agn minicards WLan installed

The face recognition is a nice tool but local to be illuminated and you must take your face the right of the post sometimes it of not very easy

But if you face is recognized correctly that the connection should work properly

  • A few questions about the difference between the Satellite P70, L70, S70

    Hello, I have a lot of questions about the P70, L70, S70 series that come with a 1920 x 1080 panel.

    (1) what are the differences between the L70 and S70 series? With the exception of the RAM and HARD drive capacity, books seem pretty identical.

    (2) P70, L70, S70 doesn't support a 2nd HARD drive or it's just the P70 series that support?

    (3) all the three (P70, L70, S70 series) come with the same TFT panels?

    (4) of the above series, which supports mSata?

    (5) all the model of each series are delivered with support from mSata? For example, it could be that L70 - a - 13 m supports mSata is not the case of the L70-a-146?

    (6) all the foregoing, are delivered with a S - ATA II or III S - ATA interface?

    (7) who is the best of these series listed? I'm trying to understand what makes the big difference of S70 to P70 except for the envelope for example.

    Thank you in advance.

    > (1) what are the differences between the series L70 and S70? With the exception of the RAM and HARD drive capacity, books seem pretty identical.

What models Sat L70 and S70 do you mean exactly? There are different L70-xxx-xxx and S70 models on the market that supports different hardware specifications.

    (> S70 2) P70, L70, support a 2nd drive HARD or is - it just the series P70 that support?
As you can see in this [Sam P70 HDD replacement document, | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/CRU3903II0000R01.htm] the P70 series supports the 2nd drive Bay HARD, BUT even if there is a 2nd HARD drive Bay, this does not mean that you can use the 2nd HARD drive. In the case where the 2nd HARD drive Bay are equipped with HARD drive connector, you can use the 2nd HARD drive

I also found the [Sam L70/S70 HDD replacement | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/CRU3703HG0000R01.htm] the document on the Toshiba page and there I see this 2nd HARD drive Bay is not available

(> 3) all three (P70, L70, S70 series) come with the same TFT panels?
See point 1). Different P70, L70, S70 models were equipped with different material parts.

(> 4) of the series above, which takes in charge mSata?
As far as I know that some P70 models are equipped with an mSATA SSD of 256 GB.

(> 5) do all the model of each series are delivered with support mSata? For example, it could be that L70 - a - 13 m supports mSata is not the case of the L70-a-146?
See point 4) not all models supports the same hardware specifications

(> 6) all of the above, come with a S - ATA II or III S - ATA interface?
I don t think that SATA III is supported. I guess it would be SATA II

(> 7) which is the best of these series listed? I'm trying to understand what makes the big difference of S70 to P70 except for the envelope for example.
Not easy to answer because there are too many models released in Europea.
And not all models are available in each country. So I guess you will have to look for the models that have been released in your country.

  • A few questions about the upgrade on Satellite A300-144

Sorry for the typos, English is not my mother tongue.
I want to ask some questions about the upgrade of a300-144.

    * Some info first.*

    CPU: T2370 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/34445/Intel-Pentium-Processor-T2370-1M-Cache-1_73-GHz-533-MHz-FSB]).
    Chipset: GM965 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/29821/Intel-82GM965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller]).

    * Questions.*

    1. my frequency of laptop memory at 533 MHz, supports 667 MHz memory controller, memory modules can work at 667 MHz. Is - this because CPU FSB 533 MHz frequency and new processor at 667/800 MHz FSB will fix it or it is hardcoded in the BIOS?

2 Intel said that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?

3 I know, taken of my CPU is μFCPGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB]) is a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

The speed of the memory is related on the material. This means that the FSB is responsible for the limitation.
If the FSB would allow support 667 MHz then the memory would also at this speed.

    > 2. Intel says that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?
The memory depends on the chipset. So if the chipset supports 4 GB of RAM, you should be capable of this move to 4 GB of RAM

    > 3. I know, my CPU is? FC-PGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 (http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB) will be a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

It might be possible that the new processor would be fully supported by the BIOS, but in most cases it should not be a problem if the chipset would support the new processor.
But as far as I know the upgrade of the CPU is not supported by Toshiba or any other manufacturers of portable and its your own risk to run laptop with the new processor.

  • Question about the recovery partition

    Hello.

I have a question about the recovery of HARD drive partition.

If I do the operation to clear the hard disk option in the wizard it will remove * all * or it will keep my partition recovery in this way I can come back later. I want to know because I would like to put on a different OS.

I know he said he would, but caution in the PDF, I found it says that on a normal recovery too (that he would remove each partition) and I'm a little confused about how the recovery actually worked.

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest I n don't know what you mean exactly with this option to erase.

In General, Toshiba Recovery disk will wipe your entire HDD to restore factory settings correctly. This means that if you start from that disk and follow the instructions on the screen, everything will be removed.

In addition, the recovery disk doesn t create a recovery partition. It is not available. Disk copy just the files on the second partition in folder HDDrecovery to start an installation of HARD drive recovery.

  • where to post a question about iTunes on the iPhone?

I have a question about a problem with iTunes on the iPhone (iOS), but I do not see a 'Community' with this title (or anything close;  I have no idea what "iTunes U" means).

For lack of a better idea, I just posted to the community "iTunes for Mac", but I don't think that's true.

Please let me know where I should post to an iTunes on iPhone issue.  Thank you.

It should probably be posted in the community Using iPhone Apple Support communities. I'll ask a host spend your question in iTunes for Mac, if it has not already been moved.

EDIT: Just read your message, and I think it's probably better where it is (because you need help syncing your songs via iTunes on your Mac). He should be fine here, but if the moderators believe that he should be somewhere else, they will move for you.

  • Question about the benefits and experience of the Qosmio laptop

    Hello
I'm looking for laptop or a pc (laptop is better for mobility)
TV work with or without window (a multi stunderd (pal-ntsc-secam) tv tuner card)
and as a VCR (has the ability of dvr with or without window)
and as a CD/DVD drive (with or without windows of course)
and as a receiver Satellite (DVB digital and analog RECEIVER card sorts) with or without window
    and as a computer course

before 2 years when they announced Toshiba Qosmio international worm. I said that, it is
but now I'am not certain this is what I want to or not because what I hear users is do not internationally function as all TVs available now with the exception of the country of purchase.
and the digital DVB tuner is just DVB - T.

I heard that a talk about capacity dvr Qosmio is it good or not?
and the CD/DVD qosmio player is cloudy! everyone uses sony ps2 to play CDs DVDs. After dvd player and windows pc.

I read on the other no Toshiba laptop it's ok for pc portable av, but I think it will be better than
Toshiba qosmio with pc tv tuner card.

I want to watch one edition & recoreding (with or without) windwos in a laptop.
and I will not buy qosmio or another unit with external cards and devices just to do the job!

My Question is what is good for & what is not good for?
What is the advantages & disadvantages of qosmio?
What is the best model of qosmio?
can I put external cards and devices in qosmio and multimedia work as a better laptop?

If it please help me tell me what I want or not?
A laptop is better than the Qosmio or other similar devices?
What is the best external cards and compatible with qosmio devices?

Give me your advice and experiences with qosmio and thanks in advance for your answers.

    Hello

I only ever saw a computer laptop with everything you needed (desired) functions and features.
The Qosmio laptop is a high-end device and you can watch TV (digital TV signal case). The Qosmio support the Qosmio player. This feature allows you to play movies, music, etc, not to mention windows.
It supports the PCMCIA port, and you can use another type of PCMICA cards with different functions.

You asked for the best Qosmio. Well, the new Qosmio series at the moment is a G30 and F30.
You should check the properties of this two Qosmio series.
As a general rule, in my opinion, it's a good choice to use the Qosmio. But you know it's your choice.

    Hello

Here, a few questions about the number:

    (1) usually, you should get the Vista Toshiba Recovery DVD. If you didn t receive this DVD then you can order it here https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx or you could install the disc of Microsoft Vista.

    (2) of course, you can do this. I think that Win XP drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.

    (3) Yes, you can upgrade the RAM. For more information, see your manual or search on this forum for similar topics

    (4) maybe it s associated with the graphics driver. Check if you can update. I would recommend additional check if you are using the latest version of the BIOS

  • Re: Several questions about the recovery of the Satellite L750 features

I have several questions about the recovery of Satellite L750 features available to it. Any help and answers would be useful.

    (1) when I started the laptop first, he asked me to create a recovery CD incase I need to reinstall the operating system. But he also said that he built in the recovery partition, so therefore, I have to make a recovery cd or not?

    (2) will be the recovery CD is exactly the same as the recovery on the system partition?

    (3) is the partion of CD or recovery includes all the integrated software pre-installed with the laptop?

    (4) also in the device manage management it shows watch partion recovery but it is empty, is it true?

    (5) in the second partition (drive D) system, he has a record with what looks like the recovery of files and folders. Is it safe to move/remove it?

    Hello

    I'll try to provide answers:
1 - to ensure that everything works perfectly you don t need these discs, but if something goes wrong with the HARD drive you will not be able to do anything. When you have the recovery DVDs, you will still be able to install the recovery image and once again the factory settings. So my advice to you is: create these discs as soon as possible. Use only on DVD-R media and buy products of high quality (TDK or Verbatim).
    2 - Yes.
    3 - Yes.
4 - No. Don t be confused with this.
    5. in a first time create restore DVD, and later you can do what you want. I put t know which files mean you but don t touch anything before that of the recovery disks to be created.

In the past, many people have been experimenting with the structure of HARD drive and partitions and later was surprised when installing disk recovery HARD has been damaged. Don t make the same mistake.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.
