The ripple to test an application WebWorks

Hi all!

I'm a Newbie Hello world as WebWorks development is concerned.

I use ripple 0.9.0.11 on Mac OS 10.6.8.

Today is a day. I spent several hours already looking for an existing answer to this question.

My current goal is to create a 12-page HTML document plain vanilla as a standalone application BlackBerry WebWorks, which can be launched by clicking on an icon on the screen.

I have successfully completed the steps to...

https://bdsc.webapps.BlackBerry.com/HTML5/documentation/ww_getting_started/creating_an_app_1885567_1...

... so far:

V development

Packaging your application in undulation

In other words, I now have a ZIP file and two files, named StandardInstall and OTAInstall, which contain various files CSO, CSL, COD, ALX and JAD. I'm assuming that the build process was successful, and that these files are made up

My question is: is it possible to use waving on the Macintosh to test whe WebWorks app itself? In other words, how can I get these files and folders on the emulator to test their "offline"?

Thanks in advance for your ideas,

James

Sorry lexogram, there was some confusion with the terminology.

When I speak of "Ripple", I refer to the emulator in your screenshot.

When I say "simulators" I refer to stand-alone simulators, real device that look like this:

These simulators are a much more realistic representation of a device that the ripple.

You can download these simulators here although I don't know if the Mac is supported or not. It is in these simulators that you can select the file (see photo) > load Java application and you will be able to Simulator of your application on a simulator of 'true '.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

We have created several games using HTML5 which has great sound and special effects.  Only problem, is that we have heard that some people have had memory problems with applications Webworks.

The game that we were about to publish has a 12 MB download size, but uses a 32 MB total memory. The script JS itself is only 800ko but are resources which are both loaded into memory to 12 MB, but an another 20 MB are generated on the plan procedural as the user through the levels.

It worked fine in the Simulator about 3 / 6 times, with the other 3 times drawing a blank screen. We have not tested on a device yet. The game is flowing on the desktop browser 100% of the time.  We assume that failures of loading in the card sim is due to problems of memory?

What is the total maximum memory allowed use for applications webworks? I heard that it's much lower than native applications.  We have a great game that has been in high demand for awhile now and it is very good for Blackberry players who pay for games - but unfortuntaely I'm not sure if we can publish now.

There are 10 BlackBerry applications that exceed 1 GB in size and a very high memory usage. based on your numbers I do not plan to be a problem.

As a general rule, if an application causes the operating system to run out of memory, the operating system will start cleaning things upwards (starting with the offending application) to free up resources. This will result in the application of closing; not a white screen.

As a general rule, if you see a white screen on startup, it means that there was an error in the JavaScript code when loading.

Did you by chance has created a debug version and connected Web Inspector to monitor for errors when starting?

You use frames? BBUI.js, etc. ? If Yes, can you confirm that you expect for the event the window.load event * before * trying to access the document or WebWorks APIs?

  • application runs on the ripple, but not device

Hi - This is a newbie question.  I try using ripple of stable development and then compile the application for execution on a smartphone.

There seems to be 2 different ways to use ripple.  It is like an extension of Chrome, described on this page:

    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/Web-and-WebWorks-development/how-to-use-ripple-instead-of-the...

A second way he starts as an application independent, described on this page:

    https://bdsc.webapps.BlackBerry.com/HTML5/documentation/ww_getting_started/getting_started_with_ripp...

The second mode automates much of the process of packaging app, as described here:

    https://bdsc.webapps.BlackBerry.com/HTML5/documentation/ww_getting_started/creating_an_app_1885567_1...

These seem to be the 2 different operating modes, but I've not found any discussion about the difference.  Am I missing something?  The two modes will be running test applications - for example, Hello world and the sample application UIExamples.

Only the second mode has settings options on the key icon which automates application packaging.  Maybe I don't have something set up properly in Chrome for it get there?

When it runs as a standalone application, it is very slow and many attribute tags are not displayed correctly, which makes me wonder if it's supposed to work in the corresponding mode, or if something is not installed correctly.

In standalone mode it signals that he successfully built both the Hello World application and the UIExample app, and the JavaLoader said he manages to load on my Torch 9800.  Icons appear on the torch, but applications do anything when I tap on the icons.

Thanks a lot for any clarification on how to properly install and use ripple.

You don't need to change your paths relative to use local: / / /..., you just use the local: / / / path if you load a page from a remote domain, and you want this remote to access local domain packed files.

All my applications use relative paths.

Did you sign your application before attempting to run it on the device?  By looking at the output that you have validated the bbwp it shows that you not sign the application... If the application is not signed, it will not work on a real device.

Ripple Chrome plugin is still available, as we work through some of the other features of the Beta 1 update which will be released at the end of this month.  The plug-in in Chrome is gradually and will set up a plan to end of life.

  • How to test moduleDeletionsPending, in the Simulator, I don't have the option to remove my application

    How to test the following?

I want to test the functionality by using the method public void moduleDeletionsPending (String [] moduleNames). I had written logic that removes files from an SD card and it works when I call a menu inside my application item.

However, it should only be run when I uninstall the application.

In 9700 Simulator, if I select Options > Applications > [highlight the application] > [open the menu by pressing the Insert key on my keyboard] - I don't see the option to remove the application.

I don't see the delete option for other applications, such as the Klondike card game.

Should I set a property or the permissions of my app should be deleted in a simulator, so I can test the moduleDeletionsPending method?

    Thank you.

You will need to 'install' the app in the BlackBerry smartphone Simulator so that your application appear in the list of applications.  You won't see here when you perform an execution/debug as, when you use the file, the option of loading or copy it into the directory of Simulator.

The following link explains the different ways to install an application.

Note that you can install using a simulated so USB connection.  Click on the menu of the smartphone Simulator simulation BlackBerry and check USB cable connected.  Note that you can not the debugger attached when installing via a simulated USB connection.

  • How to get the ripple working, config.xml is not found

Here a load of resources for getting started, but I just can't get anything to work as stated in the documentation, or the youtube video shows.

I have various things installed, NodeJS, JVM, BlackBerry WebWorks 2.0.0.71, ripple in Chrome.

To begin with when you use 'create cordova' layer of the project is different, cordova 3.4.0 I get:

    hooks /...

    mergers /...

    config. XML

    www/js /...

    www/img /...

    www/css /...

    www/index.html

But information to addresses such as https://developer.blackberry.com/bbos/html5/documentation/creating_hello_world.html don't show this provision.

I'm supprised when I open the config.xml file in Chrome that it does not detect the XML XSD and ripple offers to launch itself.  If I navigate to file:///C:/Users/Username/RippleSites/myproject/ www/index.html can activate ripple but she complains the file config.xml in lack.  Services of ripple Start' provides no clue as to any error and no TCP server listening on port 9910.

I guess BB10 doesn't work with a specific version of cordova, which uses a different type of layout of project that one 3.4.x uses.  How can I fix the environment to use the correct versions and also automatically prevent the upgrade within this environment?  Because I want to obviously NPM allows management version of the future module updates.

How C:\Users\Username\WebWorks Project\project interacts with the ripple need to use a specific home project directory as well?

See the Option #1 here for more information about enabling access to the local files for Chrome/ripple:
    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/Web-and-WebWorks-development/solution-ripple-launch-is-INTERR...

That being said, the that training has been designed to be an emulator for the WebWorks 1.0 SDK, it relies on the features that have changed in WebWorks 2.0. For example, we leverage is no longer webworks.js, but cordova.js and webworksready changed to deviceready. In the end, there may be still some differences in the APIs, if efforts have been made to minimize any impact as he.

BlackBerry 10 works with Cordova 3.1.0 and above (it may have been a few versions ago, but I don't remember exactly). Stay up to date with Cordova and use the latest version through the Museum is my personal recommendation.

Note that if you use Cordova, you also need to install the NDK BlackBerry properly configure your environment variables.

Note that the link to the above documentation referred BBOS, which is the platform of the inheritance (BBOS 5, 6, 7). BlackBerry 10 documentation can be found here:
    http://developer.BlackBerry.com/HTML5/documentation/V2_0/

The www folder is root of your project that will contain all the files of HTML5. The other files are related to Cordoba and used for packing and manage your application is built.

  • Apps denied the lack of test material?

I have two applications that work together.  Here is the description:

hxFOV is a live video monitoring and control system.  It consists of 2 applications: application of the Agent and the application of control.

This Agent app turns your mobile device into a remote listening and viewing device. When activated, it turns off the display, while secretly video and audio streaming to a remote device running the application of control of hxFOV, which has full control of the application of the Agent.

To use, install the Agent on a single application device and control on another device app.  Make sure that both applications use the same password to ID, group, and the server.  They would connect automatically, allowing the aircraft to control control device officer.

Your device can be remotely controlled (through the application of control):
    -Toggle front/rear camera
-change of resolution, frame rate, quality
    -change the microphone gain level
    -switch between streaming modes

    My rejection email States:

All the features of the application could not be tested as a unit and remote access server requires to operate.  Repro steps: 1. launch the application. 2. try to enter data for the device of the agent. 3. notice to the user cannot continue further in the application without these credentials.

I provide the servers (they use my existing servers of ReelPortal), which the applications load during startup.  But it seems that the tester is not a second device to test with.

    What should I do now?

    TIA.

  • Reset the State of the permissions for the BBM integration tests

For the purposes of testing, I want to cancel my BBM surveys application registration and clear all permissions for this.

Now when I remove and redeploy the application, he recorded again but do so without up permissions dialog window to ask if I want to allow it to access BBM or not.

What should I do to get that back? If I go to the window of permissions of Applications in the settings (which is extremely buggy, incidentally) and disable the authorization of BBM, it does nothing but block the application to use BBM.

Try to change your application id then. (The in the bar descriptor). That * has * to work, by definition. If it isn't, then you're doing something wrong, I think. If you change the id app, it's actually a different application.

  • Predefined values for LOADING, DONE, XMLHttpRequest etc. appear not defined under the ripple

I use XMLHttpRequest to call a REST services.

When the test is under Mozilla and Chrome, everything works fine.

Although, when I activated the ripple under Chrome it has stopped working. After some debugging I discovered that in the switch/case statement, where I do something like...

    switch (this.readyState) {
     case XMLHttpRequest.DONE: ... some code here ... break;
    }

... the 'case' did not get fired.

Further examination has determined that all the XMLHttpRequest.* values are undefined is the reason why my code no longer works.

Q: why the values if readyState XMLHttpRequest, not well-defined, becomes indefinite under ripple?

Are there solutions to this problem, other than the use of simple numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4 or set values for myself.

Please try with 0.9.4, which is what I am running.
