The Satellite A200 display does not illuminate after being idle for 15 minutes!
I just bought a Satellite A200 1 - AX PSA6 and install Windows XP SP2 + upgrade of bios for winxp.
After 15 minutes of unactivirty (no not pressing the keys or moving the mouse), I set in power options in Control Panel - what must power OFF display.
After this time display is switched off (black)!
But I can't wake up my laptop!
I'm press any key or move the mouse, but the screen is always black!
But laptop works!
I can ping and then by network or remote access connection.
One way to solve this problem:
Laptop open and close!
A200 - "standby mode" and wake up with swithches on screen...
It seems that Windows XP Home edition does not work perfectly on the new laptops designed Vista. Before you live your laptop try to change profile settings (extended battery) power and test the parameters of this profile.
Tomorrow I'll try to install Windows XP Home on my A200 and I'm really interesting if I even notice.
I own a Satellite A200, since yesterday my screen did not work. I hear vista start in the background but theres nothing on the screen when the system is off.
Please help me...
Go you through the devices different views?
Using the FN + F5, you can switch to the external monitor or maybe TV you used this key combination accidentally?
It would be also advisable to connect another external monitor to the laptop to check if anything should be displayed on the monitor
If you're not going to see anything on the second monitor, then a default display could be possible.
The A200 is not very old series of laptop I think the warranty to be valid. Therefore, you can contact the ASP in your country for and verification of the laptop.
Good luck and greetings mate
After the computer wakes up from hibernation by lifting the display panel (cover) and the LCD screen turns off due to power management settings, display shows the Toshiba logo and does not return after a key is pressed and the keyboard is not responding.
I turned - power & removed the battery without success-.
OPS: windows XP.
You have removed the battery but wait you a bit?
If please plug the laptop and remove the battery.
Wait 15-20 min and then plug the AC adapter and put the battery in the laptop.
Then try again!
I bought a Satellite A200-175 yesterday and I am trying to use the webcam, but it does not work. I searched the forum for possible solutions, but so far I have not found anything that solves my situation.
The laptop came with a preinstalled Vista OS, but the software of the webcam was not preinstalled. So I downloaded the latest Toshiba download page doftware and installed.
Subsequently, it still does not work and so I changed drivers for generic Microsoft (based on the advice of the forum).
I tried to reinstall drivers (several times), but that did not help. Device Manager keeps giving me the error code 10 (device cannot be started).
I'm a bit of idea, so any help would be appreciated!
It's very strange because I installed the recovery image on notebooks P200 and U300 (both with the webcam) and I didn't notice any problem. After the first boot the cam will be recognized as new hardware and installed correctly.
Have you installed some Messenger like Yahoo or MSN and try to use it with one of them?
Hi, I am first time here.
I bought a Toshiba A200 PSAE0E-03J02JDR with 2 GB of RAM. I bought a pair of ram Corsair (2 * 2 GB VS2GSDS667D2). The computer does not start after that I installed the memory. I have intel 945 chipset, which is capable of 4 GB (manual page 1-2). The bios version is 1.8 2007.
Can anyone help me, please.

The A200 series supports different chipsets;
Intel 945 PM
As far as I know your laptop supports the * 943GML * Intel chipset and the chipset supports 2 GB RAM max.
Take a look at your laptop s user manual * Page 18.*
Summer: 4 GB of RAM are not possible, and therefore your laptop does not start.
I wanted to install XP on a Satellite A200-1AX.
So I tried to update the Bios to the version that supports supported XP.
When I tried to install it, crashed Vista and now the laptop won't even turn on.
When I keep the power button pressed, the whistling fan but nothing happens.
I think the BIOS is gone or corrupted.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance for any help!

What to say to boyfriend. It seems that something was wrong during the process of updating the BIOS maybe the BIOS was not written correctly and the ROM module must be flashed again with the help of a special procedure and the tool.
In this case, you can do anything you will need to contact the ASP in your country for a fix!
Don t waste time and ask a technician for assistance.
Good luck and best regards
It is my first time on the forum posting, I hope someone can help me.
I recently downloaded the latest update of the Bios (bios - 20090121132526.zip) for my laptop. I ran the bios Setup, after the update it restarted my laptop, but then he went to a black screen and no longer start.
When I press the power button only power led lights, fans begin to turn and the DVD - rom turns and stops and the screen is blank.
I am running Vista Home premium 32-bit.
Can anyone provide a solution on what I can do to fix this?
Was the system standby standby/extended/recovery?
Its important to cold starts of the system before and after an update of the BIOS.
You could try to remove one of the modules RAM (change RAM size) and turn on, otherwise the system may need to be sent to an ASP for repair.
I was hoping if someone could help me pls.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 (PSAFCA).
Recently, I tried the bios update and while I flashed the bios I forgot to plug the laptop into the current and the battery was flat at half way through the flashing.
Thus the laptop now won't post when I turn on and all I get is a white screen.
I was wondering if someone could pls advise me on how I can get the old bios back or even a method of flashing it if I put the bios back in so I can at least get a message to display on the screen.
Any help that you provide would be greatly appreciated as I am at a loss.
Thanking you in advance
> while I flashed the bios I forgot to plug the laptop into the current and the battery flat at half way through the flashing.
Well buddy, the cell must always be connected to the mains during the execution of an update of the BIOS! This is very important!
Now it looks like the update of BIOS didn't t run and finish correctly and the ROM module seems to be flashed incorrectly.
Unfortunately, there is no other solution to communicate with ASP guys and ask for help! They should be able to help you.
But note; in the worst cases, the ROM module is unfortunate and the motherboard needs to be replaced.
Model: Toshiba L30-105 PSL33E-02S02HFR.
USB ports (2) do not work after the downgrade from vista to Windows xp family. All the drivers downloaded from Toshiba Web site.
Thanks for any help,
Have you installed Win XP all service packs?
SP2 provides some patches on the USB feature.
You definitely need to update the Win XP OS
as I said in my previous post, I also have a problem with the Hibernate. The thing is that when I leave to transform a hibernation on this more later sometimes not loading Windows - the load bar coming to an end and then it stops 'thought' so I have to stop it and start it...
The operating system is Win Xp Pro SP2 on Toshiba Satellite L30-PSL33. For example, it loads Windows hibernation 2 or 3 times, and then after that it will not load the operating system.
Please give me an advice how to fix this...
It's not easy to say what s may be wrong because like you say so this problem happens sometimes and that's why he of not easy to reproduce this error.
I m an owner of a Sat L30. I use Vista on my L30 and received no similar problem.
I talked to some people, and also read on some sites Internet computer that this error could be related software.
One question; what OS came preinstalled on this notebook; XP or Vista?
Maybe you have updated the operating system on your laptop to the last State.
Please also check if the third-party programs 3rd n t assigned the wrong operating system.
My A200 power on. When I plug in the AC/DC adapter then flahs blue led once and that's it. No, do something more. No power led on.
> My A200 power on. When I plug in the AC/DC adapter then flahs blue led once and that's it
So, if I understand it is not booting with the plugged AC adapter and battery, too. In my view, it may be electrical circuit controller malfunction on the card mother, South of the bridge. It would be best to check with the other AC adapter.
You can read this article just for information
Motherboard bought this laptop model in November 2007, failed in January this year, had guaranteed fix, then returned to me, end of March. Now the same problems as before and want to know if I should worth do guaranteed once again, or just get a new laptop.
Question: Working on the computer, do not overheat, shut down and won't turn on.
Battery lights and power are turned on, but nothing happens.
Have you tried the reinstallation of RAM, Exchange off the HARD drive (the data is still available on the two HARD drives), battery, battery, ca, AC out etc, waited 12 hours, still nothing.
To be honest, this particular PC has been no end of problems for me, and now fail (with similar symptoms at the beginning of the year) would like some advice what to do?
This really weird sound like a serious problem of hardware (motherboard)?
If the motherboard has already been changed on this laptop, then you should definitely connect with ASP again in order to get more information how to proceed
As far as I know that the replaced part should be covered under warranty, for a few months, but I m not really sure, that's why you should ask ASP for details.
I've read several times that I can install 4 GB of ram in this laptop (2 2 GB) but it only works with 2 GB.
I bought it here:
http://www.speichermarkt.de/show.cgi?id=toshiba_satellite_a_200_1_cr_a_200_1_c http://www.UNECE.org/trade/UNTDID/d01b/trmd/gesmes_c.htm & SNO = 00000886
I know that from Toshiba Web site indicates that it would accept only max 2 GB.
Two 2 GB ram works, I tested the two of them separate. Also do not work 2 GB more than 512 MB. If it's true that he accepts 2 GB? I run Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
Thanks a lot for your help! I'm almost about to send the other 2 GB of ram back, but I really want to make it work! ;-)
I put t know why some dealers offer false information. Maybe you should ask the dealer.
But you should not forget that the single books supports different hardware specifications and are equipped with different chipsets.
Some chipsets Intel support 4 GB RAM and some can handle only 2 GB of RAM
However, you laptop doesn t start because it cannot handle 4 GB of RAM
I have Toshiba Satellite A200-1AE computer that does not work.
I use (d) for educational purposes and now the problem is that it will display no signs of life. the blue led light on the front of it does not illuminate when I connect it to the AC/DC adapter.
I tested the AC/DC adapter with a voltmeter (it came with the computer in the box of the card when I bought the computer) and it works well.
Yes, the battery could be dead also, but it should work just fine without it and is not.
What to do about this problem?
He has a dead motherboard? No, I can't be brave enough to think about.
Thanks in advance for your reply,
Everything is possible... also a dead motherboard.
But to make sure exactly what s laptop computer checking is necessary.
So, you will need to contact the ASP in your country for the control of the laptop.
My Satellite A200-1BJ does not start. After turning on the button it starts only for 1 or 2 seconds (flashing light, work from HDD, fan work, display blank) and then it turns off automatically. Once it happened days before but I didn't have the time to solve it and over the next few days, he has not occurred. Now, I tried to launch it more than 20 times and it still won't start.
I tried only with full battery and also only with the power adapter. I removed the HDD, RAM, keyboard, DVD, speakers, display and a few other connector under the keyboard and it still does not start and it shuts down after 1-2 seconds each time.
In recent months he sometimes exploded due to overheating during work so I cleaned the dust inside.
No problem with the motherboard or power?
Thanks for help.
Hmmm... on this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is. described behavior is the same as in cases when the BIOS is dead after failed BIOS update installation.
Of course, it's mainboard problem but what exactly, it is not easy to say. For me, this looks like faulty BIOS.
Have you installed any updates or anything that may be responsible for this?
