The screen is dark on my laptop satellite

Hello
We have a toshiba satellite that currently does not work as it should be...

When light us, the screen is very dark. It works well, you can see the scenery and everything, the screen is just really, really dark. is there maybe some "sercret butten" somewwhere there which would alter the lighting? any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you
Sue

Hello

Have you checked the brightness display settings?
Check if you can increase the brightness of the screen with the FN + F5 key combination.

If this does not help then I guess that there is a hardware failure. It may be faulty inverter FL as in the previous suggested announcement.
This part is not very expensive. But first, you should ask guys to service for advice. They should be able to give an answer accurate and they can solve.

  • Re: Cannot complete the process of recovery on my laptop satellite

I have a Toshiba Satellite running the home edition of Windows XP Home edition. A ran the CD recovery last night, having run before and had no problems. But this time... after it executes without error, he asks at the end to remove the CD and press a key to continue.

What I did. The system then boot see the Toshiba home screen and then goes to a small cursor blinking in the upper left corner of the screen. Cannot cursor mover, the screen is black in the background.
    CTRL + ALT + DEL doesn't work.
Press the power button the same scenario.
A ran the CD recovery again, the same scenario as above.
Then started from the Linux CD, shows my HD and content etc. A ran chkdsk since the Linux CD.
    No problems.

    The recovery CD is wrong?

    Satellite you need exactly?
During the execution of recovery facility you have seen regular activity on the screen?

I think the problem is Linux. Try to rewrite the MBR before you start the installation of recovery.

Altogether. I do it all the time. Where do you live (country)?

This is a LED 15.6 inch 1366 x 768 display and will cost about US $65 if you live in the United States (or Western Europe) and we can provide a manual or a video for instructions on replacing the screen.

There is a glimmer of hope that it could be a driver problem. If it's OK in safe mode, then it is to try a system restore to a well known date or try to update the graphics driver.

Sure I think it is a hardware problem with the monitor
(or maybe video card) is not a problem with Windows.

Borrow a monitor from a friend, try it and see if it does the problem
Go away. If this is the case, replace the monitor.

  • Re: How to get the system running again on my laptop satellite

Everything ok and ongoing run (Vista 32 bit), also installing the update for Intel chipset seemed to agree,
but subsequently requested reboot does not work... and the horror began :(

No matter if the hard drive is installed or not, following events occur after passing on: hhd light indicates activity, also for disk hard desinstallion (!), in the possible bios by F2, dvd lamp is lit and portable crashes.

What has gone wrong? How can I get the system running again?

    TIA

The whole story is a bit confusing for me. I put t know how you came the idea to update the driver chipset if everything was OK. Vista is old BONES and it is unclear to me that Toshiba has offered some updates of the chipset.

What is confusing to me is the fact that you can not enter the BIOS settings.

When you start your laptop you see Toshiba welcome screen and the grey line down with info press F2 to enter the establishment or F12...?

What will happen after that? Display stays black or what?
What happens when you press F2, F8 or F12? Everything works? Can enter you in menu start or advanced startup options?

Try please start your laptop with the recovery DVD and press C repeatedly on startup laptop. Check if the installation of recovery will recognize.
Post please a little detailed report.

  • Message on the screen 'BD - J' drive Blu - Ray - Satellite-P50t-B - 10 K

First, a comic book, first playing a message saying "the AACS key has expired. You will not be able to listen to some Blu - ray titles. You want to download from the internet now? "Click Yes, it is downloaded, update has been applied, reader closed and restarted."

BD reinserted, saying "while he was playing a BD - J, mouse operation title and keyboard shortcuts are ineffective" message. Down in Google to find how I was destined to do work the reader saw that keyboard, mouse and touch screen had no effect. Read a few posts that say the arrow keys / directional are supposed to be used to fight against it, but they do nothing when I tried.

Only things I can do with a BD disc in the drive is: opening and closing; maximize/normalize clicking via the touch screen anywhere on the drive; Right-click with limited function (display power switch and open Information from).
I hate phone calls so don't really want to phone Support, someone at - it ideas what is happening and what I can do?

What software did you use to play the disc comics and movies?

If the error appeared using the TOSHIBA Blu - ray disc player, the solution is not very complicated.
You need to update drive Blu - ray TOSHIBA by TOSHIBA Service Station.

Hey there, fellow buyers of Toshiba.

I have a few questions on prod. recovery on my laptop.

    * Is _First, safe? _ *
Because my sister it on his Vista laptop (a Toshiba) and finished with a BSOD and a trip to the PC world for a replacement HARD drive.
    -----
    * _First, he will restore C: and D:, or just C:? _ *
Inadvertently, I deleted the D: partition on my hard drive and he would like to return.
    -----
    * _Third, I am formatting due to incompatibility with some applications, namely 32 bit ones._*
I can somehow incompatible lance 32-bit on my 64-bit?

    * _Finally, it erase Ubuntu as well? _ *
I have Ubuntu (10.04 LTS incase you're wondering) and want to keep the data that it is intact.

YES, I backed UP MY DATA (here, that goes with the words "I have no sti - oh, wait, what's that noise clicking / grinding?")? I just do not feel comfortable with the formatting yet until I know answers to these questions, but there again, I have only 200 MB left of C: (go, 250 GB in 8 months?) and need the return performance (GHIII and GTA: San Andreas used at 40 fps, but now play them is wading through treacle (LAG)!) Hello

    > First of all, is it safe?

    recovery process is completely safe.

    > Second, he will restore C: and D:, or just C:?

He will restore the os with the settings on drive C;. Local d it will create image file from hard drive which I know.

    > Can I run 32-bit incompatible somehow on my 64-bit?

It depends on the application. I mean, do a right-click on the application and choose properties where you can Compatible mode.

    > Finally, it clears so Ubuntu?

If it is installed on local d: I guess that will erase. To be honest, is not sure

You did the changes on your computer until the problem started?

    Try the following steps:

Step 1: disconnect any external devices and check if you can start the computer normally in safe mode.

Step 2: If the computer works normally in safe mode, then perform a system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time before the problem started.

  • After you enable SLI on the Satellite x 200 mode the screen goes black

    Hi all

my name is Alessio and I encounter the following problem with my Satellite x 200-24e with Vista home 32-bit:

Recently, I updated the operating system and yesterday I updated the VGA driver with the latest version available on the web site of Toshiba (display-20080904102618), everything worked fine but when I activated mode SLI the screen went black.

I restarted the laptop and I tried to boot Vista on a regular basis, but I still got black screen.
Then I started Vista in safe mode and reload the VGA drivers to set the SLI mode since the safe mode did not identify the model VGA.
Can anyone help me solve this problem and get the SLI mode working again (I was able to set the SLI mode before update the VGA driver)?

    Thank you

    This wonderful s information.
It of strange that the screen was dark after the SLI has been activated but it looks like it's working now.

    Thanks for your comments

  • Replacing the screen on Satellite C50-A-1CK

    Hello

The screen of my C50-A-1CK Satellite was recently broke and I need a replacement, but I have no experience with this sort of thing. Editing actually screen won't be a problem (I'm lucky enough to have friends who will fit it free) but I need to buy one and I'm not sure which one to buy.

I'm looking for something around £40 or less if possible, and I'm in the United Kingdom, if a British salesman would be best. I would prefer to get one on eBay, if possible, so I would really appreciate if I could get a link rather than just "oh looking for it and you will find.

I thank very you much in advance!

To be honest, it is not easy to give you some good advice on this. Why? Replacing the screen is rather complicated and almost entire laptop must be disassembled. To do this you need manuals maintenance with explanation step by step how to do this and avoid any damage. This document is not a public document, so I do not know who want to help and how.

If a person without experience and expertise want to do this, can damage your laptop even more. There are many smallholders plastic that can be broken or damaged.

I don't know, but in my opinion, you should contact Toshiba service nearest and ask for help. It costs a little, but it will happen on the vocational track.

Anyway, I don't live in the UK so I don't want to pick you up. You can check ebay UK and search for 15.6 HD 200 CSV LD and if you find a seller contact by phone and check compatibility with your laptop satellite.
