The start of Vista with XP installed?

I installed XP on my computer. It came with Vista.
I want to start Vista, l, but it won't let me.
I installed XP on another hard drive.

Guys please help.

Uastan,
Order to dual-boot your computer, you must install the earliest operating system first.  So if Vista was already on your PC and you put in another drive and installed XP on it, then you have to reinstall Vista in order to get the work of dual-boot. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

    I see from my records that a similar case has been solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the update WAT - KB971033

    Open the Windows Update - click the link view updates installed on the left of the page

    in the list, find the WAT update KB971033, and then uninstall it.

    Then restart and reinstall the update from here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033

  • R400 - internet stops working after 2 min. Since the start of Vista

    Hello
    My new ThnkPad R400 with Vista, I have a problem with the automatic connection to the WiFi network. In the Access Connections software, I put my home wireless network. When I turn on computer and access the internet, it's ok, but after about 2 minutes since the start of Vista, the internet stops working. Ping is still OK for each site (google.com, yahoo.com...), but I can't open any website. When I disconnect and then connect to the network, its straight until the next time the computer starts.

    I'm very anxious, I tried to fix a lot of hours, but nothing helped.

    You have any ideas?

    Thank you.

    I solved my connection drop problem! I've updated the Wi - Fi drivers and now everything is OK.

  • 10 minutes after the start of vista... stop

    I have a Sony Vaio with vista installed and recently it would boot up and ten minutes later, it would be closed. I would try to start with the CD of exploitation and is always the same...

    any suggestions?

    Hi Upbeatcar,

    Try the following steps.

    Step 1

    Start your computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists. If the problem does not persist then try step 2.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Step 2

    Put your computer to boot in order to check if the problem is caused by third-party applications.
    The following link has steps showing how to perform the clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

    (1) perform the clean boot (check the link to perform the clean boot)

    (2) enable half the services

    (3) determine whether the problem returns

    (4) enable half of the startup items

    (5) determine if the problem returns

    (6) repeat the steps above until you find out which program or service is causing the issue

    After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

    Note: Please make sure that the computer is configured to start as usual by following step 7 of article:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

    If the problem persists, I suggest that you perform a scan of the file system [SFC] checker on the computer, this replaces the corrupt system files with system Version of Windows on the computer files, follow these steps to perform a scan:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.

    2. right click on cmd in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue

    3. at the command calls, the following line and press ENTER: sfc/scannow

    When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved.

  • Applications not no projection in all PROGRAMS on the start of Vista after the virus.

    Hello

    My portable computer with windows Vista has recently been infected with a virus that I have now deleted.
    But all my application to 'All programs' files have been deleted.  I managed to download a zip file of the links standard for Vista Home Premium which is my OS and pasted these in the start menu for all users in the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu.  However, I don't know how to do to back up all my personal applications.
    I really can not re - install all the, they are too many and I am not sure that I have even all disks and downloads at hand to do. The task would be enormous.  Is there a way to solve this in the registry? or any other method? Can someone direct me please?
    I tried to use system restore, but I have nothing but the most recent restore points, and it did not work.  I am also concerned about restoring the registry entries virus files.
    Please can you let me know if something can be done to solve this problem.  I am a user experienced and confident enough in taking a challenge complicated if you are available.
    Look forward to a response, thanks a lot
    John

    Forget the junction points.  They are only for backwards compatibility (and are not called points of junction of the system, only in the documentation of the system).  I don't think that the Start Menu, Documents and Settings folder (the point of junction for your profile among others) will seek to replace the one right that should be there.  I might try it if it was me, but it's not worth the risk for you (it could cause more damage than it solves - and I'm not going to try it just to see if it works).

    It's a shame to system restore because this would probably solve the problem quickly and efficiently.  Perhaps you should consider maintaining that a few points spread over time even if they do not place - you are short of space that you need to restore space?  I didn't know you had only a very current restore point or I have suggested the procedure.

    If you're short on space, here are some suggestions:

    A great many things affect speed and performance, and the amount of space available on your system - especially the existence of various files and which is loaded on the system.  There are ways to handle this in Vista (and that you follow all the suggestions) - and of course the amount and type of RAM and the speed of your processor and motherboard (but I'll just discuss here the software solutions - you can go to your supplier/manufacturer of computers for hardware solutions, if some are available (I) for example, am maxed out at 2 GB of RAM in my motherboard and there is no motherboard better available for my laptop model).

    To enhance your speed, to using Disk Cleanup: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76073-disk-cleanup.html.

    Also do optimization: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Optimize-Windows-Vista-for-better-performance.

    Go to start / search options and type msconfig and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Go to the Startup tab and uncheck any program that you don't need from start.  This will probably be the majority of the items here - otherwise most of them (some are needed as the AV program but more are there to make open source programs more quickly and make you believe that they are more effective).  This will free up a lot of RAM and a great help to make your system faster (but maybe not as long as you'll be able to see the difference - but maybe according to how many useless stuff loads at startup).

    You can perform some of these tasks (and more that aren't entirely related) using http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm (which also seeks the malware).  I do it on a monthly basis only as part of normal maintenance, and I suggest you do the same.  Make sure that you select a full analysis - it will take a few hours (mine can take about 5-6) but can works in the background so start when he has enough time to complete.

    You also want to have good AV programs and HAVE on your system (so no malware running in the background drain resources).  Windows Defender is a good PROGRAM.  The new, free Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspx is a great AV / AM program that has one of the least impacts on resources and the performance of the system, according to reliable sources and it does the job very well.  If you are using MSE, you don't need really Defender (but you would with any other AV program).  I suggest also download http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php and it works every month to catch anything that might miss MSE/Defender.

    If you follow these tips, and do this regularly (at least monthly), then I think that you will have faster to a machine as it is able to give material.

    Perhaps one of the recovery programs will work (try Recuva if you have not already - this is a very good).  It is possible that this only works with the data files and not with files system (which would explain why you're having without success) because I never used them to recover before system folders (I have always used the system restore).

    Good luck! Lorien - a - MCSE/MCSA/network + / A +.

  • How to activate the brightness in Vista with Satellite 5200 802

    Hello!

    I'm on a Toshiba 5200-802 and I installed VISTA on it. It works fine except that normally in XP, there is a * Toshiba option (FN + F7 key) key * makes the * _screen brighter_ * and it does not work under VISTA.

    Vista startup, the default brightness settings are not defined to * MAXIMUM * if the screen is rather low. I really need to be able to set the screen up.

    Can anyone help please show me what software or setting I can use in vista to achieve this? I would be very very happy to get an answer!

    Thank you

    Ronald

    To use this button, you will need a special driver Vista. But the fact is that the Toshiba didn't release all the Vista drivers for this series!
    On other portable computers Vista, you must install the Toshiba value added package and the FlashCards of Vista to control the FN keys. This utility doesn't exist for this series of laptop!

    I m not 100% sure, but maybe you can set the brightness of the screen in Vista power options. Please check this!

  • Question of delay at the start of vista on Satellite series

    Hello!

    I would like to ask - is this normal for a laptop to start Grand vista after a short break? I mean when I write my password on the beginning of the start it, it looks like a hard drive takes a few seconds to "break" and after she, all programs begin to run. In addition it my Toshiba works perfectly.

    Best regards

    I need about 1 minute. The timing is for Vista. Isn t it?

  • No option has worked at the start of vista & no CD provided with the computer!

    I tried all the options (boot recovery, System Restore, memory something or other, etc) and nothing won't boot up to vista. It puts me in a vicious cycle of hit ctrl alt + delete to restart again and again. I have tried absolutely every single option. I can get the bios of course but that's all. I don't see anything else. I have no Vista CD because I bought the computer from comp usa so I can't even try to start with a CD. I want to do a clean install, but I guess that's not possible with no CD :-(  I just need to crash the computer in the trash?  I am disabled so I have no money for a new CD of windows, they are simply too expensive.

    Vista Media recovery obtaining and/or using the Vista recovery on your computer Partition to factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Hi all
    Its my first post here =). I just bought a new Portege R600-10 q (PPR61E) and I have a problem. The DVD player does not open / works after Vista started... it works very well, or at least opens / orange light turned on, before the page of connection, but after that nothing.
  • The mouse freezes randomly at the start of Vista PC
    Once a week, when I start my PC from a cold start or when I do a reboot for some reason, I find that the mouse pointer freezes in the middle of the screen.  There is no pattern as to when this happens.  Sometimes this will happen twice a day.  Sometimes, it will not happen for several days.  But it will happen eventually.  I have to use the Tab key to scroll to close off the computer; After I turn it back on it is generally acceptable.  (A time-out of a hundred of the mouse is still frozen and I repeat the process.)  I use Vista 32 bit and a HP Media Center PC.  Ideas or suggestions how to solve this problem?
    Abdoulaye Jabba the Hut,
    Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum,
    If the startup not found repair help with your question or if you have not tried the option of recovery yet, you might want to look at this information in another forum.
    CNET forums:
    It's a question of Logitech Setpoint... by John.Wilkinson -5/3/08 08:02 in response to: mouse and music freeze Vista
    I have a Logitech Desktop computer call easy and have encountered the same thing. After trying some generic drivers, different keyboard/mouse, etc. I discovered that the problem with audio driver delivered with record 4.00BR. (Your mouse takes Setpoint 4.40, but I guess there is a similar issue.) From time to time the driver will be glitch while a sound is played, leading all other devices related to the set value (in my case mouse and keyboard stop working. In my case I uninstalled the Setpoint software, manually removed all Logitech keyboard/mouse/sound drivers via Device Manager, and then reinstalled and solve the problem itself. In your case, if you do not have a Logitech sound system, you should be able to solve the problem simply by manually deleting these Logitech audio drivers and reboot, then updates driver for your sound card from the website of the manufacturer of the sound card.
    I found a lot of people have had this problem and uninstall setpoint helped solve the problem. It would be interesting to try.
  • The beta 3 SDK with Burrito install question weird
    Hi all
    I start with Burrito in a clean installation, with the new Beta SDK 3. I followed the instructions posted online, here. But when I got to the part 1 step 3, Blackberry Tablet OS appears as one of the targeted platforms. I don't get google android.
    I tried the suggestion to go to preferences to choose the platform targets, but once it did not work. I also tried to force the Burrito to go in the file blackberry-tablets-sdk - 0.9.2 to the SDK, but I got an error msg that says "blackberry-tablets-sdk - 0.9.2 is not designed for mobile development.
    Yes (sort of - Tablet blackberry os do not show)
    (1) uninstall, re install as administrator
    2) run as admin.
    (3) for the burrito installation, make sure that you select "International English" - not English, North America.
