The string will be swamped?

I want to use a string indicator to see the continuous test output (without interruption concatenate the new release at the end of the current string). This test can run over several days. I want to know if the indicator string length limit, it is possible that some errors occur as overflow?

It will go until you run out of memory. I would like to have some kind of limit of suggestion. If the string length 'x' to delete the oldest lineage.

  • Doc XML to a string fails when the string length is greater than 512 bytes.

    I have been using the following code to write an XML string.  If the resulting string is lower to ~ 512 bytes, the string will be created, if > ~ 512 bytes, the routine does not create the string.  Assuming that the doc contains an XML document:

    Doc CVIXMLDocument = 0;
    HDoc MSXMLObj_IXMLDOMDocument = 0;

    ...

    cvistatus = CVIXMLSaveDocument (doc, 0, "Test1.xml");
    status = CVIXMLGetDocumentActiveXHandle(doc, &hDoc);)

    hRlt = MSXML_IXMLDOMDocumentGetxml (hDoc, & errInfo & strXml);

    The SaveDocument routine still works, the XML file contains the XML, regardless of their size.

    The Getxml routine creates only the XML string in strXml when the length of the string is lower to ~ 512 bytes.

    Does anyone have an idea of the problem?

    Because the string is very long, the ICB debugger cannot display. That's why I was wondering if you were trying to print using put or printf. Because the return value is 0 and the ERRORINFO is also stating the success, I would recheck the chain by printing it to the console or a file.

    I'm writing a query that would update the value of column - codedesc (currently Null) of the table1 table: after it is a string of column - table code1 codedesc.

    The logic for the match is, - take - 2nd column of table-codedesc code value and get 2 characters. For example, when the string is - R1 CONTRACTS, the string will be 1. (Select substr ("R1 CONTRACTS, 2, 2) of the double). -Output will be 1.

    Now,.
    Look in table 1 for the 3rd position of the prefix that corresponds to the string returned by the query above. So, if the prefix is '1001PAC', it should look for 2 value of figures from the 3rd position. So, in this case it will be 01. Digitally 01 and 1 are equal, then the match is found for this line in the table1 table, so we will need to update the value of the column codedesc with the "contracts of R1.

    Hello

    You want to avoid TO_NUMBER, given that will cause an error if even a line has a number no (except space) in the wrong place.
    Use RTRIM to remove extra spaces at the end of the match_key and LPAD to add '0', if necessary, at the beginning:

    MERGE INTO     table1          dst
    USING   (
              SELECT LPAD ( RTRIM ( SUBSTR ( codedesc

                                   )
                              )
                         , 2
                         , '0'
                         )          AS match_key
              ,     codedesc
              FROM     code1
         )               src
    ON     (src.match_key     = SUBSTR ( dst.prefix
                           , 3
                         , 2
                         )
         )
    WHEN MATCHED THEN UPDATE
         SET     dst.codedesc     = src.codedesc

    Hi Penny,

    Channel string syntax

    If you try an empty string or a string separated by commas (as in "0.1") do you still see this error?

    What version of NOR-SCOPE do you use?  You can find it in Measure & Automation Explorer under software.

    Also, I would be interested to know if you have other devices (besides the 5132) which show the same behavior.

  • Why flatten data chain not getting past all about TestStand via a local variable of the string?

    I tried to go around a series of data in TestStand as a string using "flattened chain" of LabVIEW. When I create a local variable in TestStand of type 'string' and try to write the cluster flattened at this that he simply not transmitted. If I convert the string flat binary table and then pass it around, I can recover all the data very well.

    Is there something I'm missing here?

    I've attached an example Teststand sequence that illustrates this problem. If you run this sequence that the 1st test will fail, which is the attempt to simply pass the flattened string data structure and the 2nd test will pass as it is the binary table that I generated from the flattened string.

    Thank you

    Pete

    crossrulz is correct.  The Null character affects how TestStand handles the string.  You will need to specify the string to a binary string in the list of settings both the VI.  TestStand then encodes the stringso it can prevent the loss of data.

    If you need work on the binary string in TestStand, you will need to convert it to an array of raw data with PropertyObject.GetValBinary.

  • How to determine the length of the string when the string using LabVIEW MoveBlock pointer dereference

    Hello!

    Calling a DLL that returns a pointer to a structure consisting of a pointer to a string, a 32-bit integer and a pointer to another string.

    I managed to MoveBlock to return a consolidation of these three things, and which works very well.

    But now I need to read the two strings I have pointers to which are not fixed length. MoveBlock has a size of entry, but how to know how long channels are?

    Try this:

    ...\vi.lib\Utility\importsl\GetValueByPointer\GetValueByPointer.XNode

    Wire just a constant string to the Type of entry.  If I remember correctly, the draw of endpoint (assuming that the C strings) will be included.

    Sometimes I have just MoveBlock a byte at a time until I get to a null value or has specified maximum size.

    In Labview 8.6 and MAX, I can change a scale for a voltage read the string in a task once the application has been built and installed on a second PC. Where's the info of the scale which is held?

    Hello

    Once you have built your VI and compiled into an executable file and deployed on another machine, it essentially becomes a file read-only, which means that you will not be able to change the balance in this deployed application.

  • convert the string into individual components table

    Hello Experts,

    I would like to display an array of strings in a display of text/string. for example:

    My array of strings is:

    ['I', 'L', 'O', 'V', 'E', 'L', 'A', 'B', 'V', 'I', 'E', 'W'], and I want to show this picture as I LOVE LABVIEW in an indicator of the string and not an indicator array.

    How do I do that? I tried flatten to sting, but it added a lot of zero to the channel indicator, and the display is not only correct appearance.

    I hope my question makes sense.

    The functions of concatenate strings will do exactly what you want.

  • Select the string table drop-down list box.

    Hi all

    I want to select the combo box list based on a string in the entry, I don't know how to do this. I have a drop-down list box and the value comes from a database, what I want to do is I want to change the value of the selected box based on the existing value in the database drop-down list. for example, A, B, C D I strings in the drop-down list box, and then in my database, I have a field with the string C, I want to change the C to A. I can't enter the value of C in a string format, but I don't know how to be the first position of the drop-down list box in so the order of channels combo box will be C, A, B, d., the value of C

    Thank you

    Then just write a new array of strings, with the elements of the new agenda, to the "[] strings" - property.

    Either you must code something that allows you to create an array of strings with the elements in the order that you want them to be. If there is a reorganization only, you could do something like:

    -Get the array of strings [] from the drop-down list using a property node box.

    -Find the position of the element you want to place first and use "delete from table", which returns the new array and the element removed.

    -Build a new table 1 d of the deleted item and table remaining. Move to the second combobox Strings [] property of a node property.

  • flatten channel adds the length of the string

    Hi all

    I flatten a cluster chain help to flatten to string.vi. The cluster contains strings and arrays. The flattened string contains the length of the string that is appended to the string.

    So if I have a cluster with only 1 string and a value = "LabVIEW". the flattened string would be "0007LabVIEW". Flatten channel vi has a Boolean entry "add string or array of size? even if I set the Boolean value false, it always adds the length of the string. Is this a bug?

    I think that if you read the detailed help to flatten it to string function you will see this is not a bug.  That boolean applies only to top-level data, once put you something in a cluster or array, the Paris are open.

  • Initialize the string of known length

    I have searched the forums, but found nothing. I'm trying to convert a string to its equivalent representation in ASCII form. So I use the string depending on the byte array. But then I want to have a string with all these bytes concatenated sets. One way to do this is to initialize a string empty in the shift to a loop, then register use the hexadecimal string inside the loop number For and concatenate the bytes. See the following excerpt for the code:

    The problem, then, is that you have a function to concatenate strings inside a loop, which calls the handler memory each iteration of the loop For, except if I'm wrong. Now that I know, before entering the loop, how long the resulting string will be (only twice the number of elements in the byte array), I'd rather do is initialize a string to the appropriate length and then simply replace the elements in the chain I. Something like the following:

    How do I what is represented by my comment? I couldn't care less what is happening in the chain, of course. I want just the string of the correct length, enter the loop For. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    I'm not really sure what you're trying to do, but this conclusion is?

  • Look for the string of the numbered array element.

    This is my first post, so I'll probably miss one thing or another.  I will look nothing missed as soon as possible. I write code LV to test additional County stored in a CSV text file. Counties represent the stimulated current of a diode in a beam of radiation. The product is a QA device for a medical radiation treatment machine. The Integrator output proportional to the current diode accumulates as a whole into account in the text file. My LV code puts the numbers in the tables, calculates the incremental time derived and analyzed statistically. Numbers of the columns in the table data represent unique components. Default number of data column is sorted in a 1 d table has no column number. As if not column 10 represents CR39 of PCB 11. I need an algorithm how to connect a string such as CR39-PCB11 to the element of the array 1 d failure or relate to the string to the column in the data table that fails. Could you suggest a way to do this?

    If I understand you correctly, instead of these numbers that are in the Updates (odd) 'zero', you want to get premium channels. For the moment, the operator uses a lookup table, to find the chain (component) that corresponds to the column number.

    It's easy, because you only need an array of strings (corresponding to the column number 0 n) and use the array index with the index of the column. Place it in a loop for get all the clues of failures (the loop autoindexing for).

  • Need a bit of help with the string read/write DLL

    I have a DLL that communicates via RS232 with some instruments.

    From 2 numbers (parameter number and a number of processes) the DLL will communicate and extract the values.

    I managed to put in place the DLL to get words, characters, long and floats (single precision).

    Now, it is the documentation that accompanies it for strings:

    ReadString asks the DLL to get the data of the instrument, if succesfull I have others on call GetString to get the string memory.

    I have a few questions:

    -The values of her star (*) are pointers; As I understand it that it points to a place of memory where the value is stored, is - that correct?

    -How do I know if I pass the value to the DLL, or read? For example with GetString Im not sure if

    I should pass the length of the string to the DLL or if it is read

    -How to get the character returned in a string; IM assuming I need to find somewhere a byte array.

    Now I can also write strings:

    As a matter of f:

    -Should I add NULL at the end of the string, or labview does by default?

    My procedure is now: read the input chain, reduce it to the size of the specified string (this is constant according to the setting of the instrument), converted to a byte array and replace the last element of the array with 0 (Null).

    However, the DLL entry expected a character, that I should get in the DLL?

    _Faust wrote:

    I have a few questions:

    -The values of her star (*) are pointers; As I understand it that it points to a place of memory where the value is stored, is - that correct?

    They can be pointers or buffers. Which of the two is ambiguous in the syntax of C. However, in your case I suppose that piMsgId and pcLen be a pointer to a unique value and pszDest a string buffer.

    -How do I know if I pass the value to the DLL, or read? For example with GetString Im not sure if

    I should pass the length of the string to the DLL or if it is read

    Description is not really clear however most of the C API require today the length of the allocated buffer at the entrance to make sure that they don't overrun the buffer length. They may or may not change this value before returning to indicate the amount of data they actually informed. The pcLen parameter passed by reference probably indicates that this function does this way.

    -How to get the character returned in a string; IM assuming I need to find somewhere a byte array.

    It is not necessary. You can simply set the parameter to a string and must be passed as a C string pointer. In LabVIEW 8.5 or more you can also configure to resize this string for the number of characters as indicates it a different setting of the library to compose the node (CLN), in this case your pcLen. 8.5 you can use a table to explicitedly initialization function create a table Bbyte of the length needed, convert the byte array to string and pass to the CLN parameter. LabVIEW will return automatically only the part of the string up to the NULL character if a CLN is configured as C string pointer

    Now I can also write strings:

    As a matter of f:

    -Should I add NULL at the end of the string, or labview does by default?

    No! If you configure the parameter is a string, passed as a string pointer C, LabVIEW will do it automatically for you.

    My procedure is now: read the input chain, reduce it to the size of the specified string (this is constant according to the setting of the instrument), converted to a byte array and replace the last element of the array with 0 (Null).

    However, the DLL entry expected a character, that I should get in the DLL?
